What is Extended Industrialization?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.39 guide
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. If you're already building up your Modern Industrialization factory, this mod adds a bunch of new machines, power sources, tools and resources to it.[1]
This pack includes version 1.14.5-1.21.1 of the mod.[2]
What it adds
- Machines: the Alloy Smelter, Bending Machine, Brewery, Canning Machine, Composter, Farmer, Honey Extractor, Large Furnace, Large Macerator, Machine Chainer, Processing Array, Universal Transformer, Waste Collector and Wireless Charging Station.[1]
- Generators: the Solar Boiler and the Solar Panel.[1]
- Tools and equipment: Canned Food, the Machine Config Card, the Steam Chainsaw, the Electric Drill and Chainsaw, the Ultimate Laser Drill and the Nano Suit.[1]
- Resources: Mulch, Manure, Composted Manure, NPK Fertilizer, Honey as a fluid, and Crystallized Honey.[1]
Who it's for
The mod builds directly on Modern Industrialization, so it's for players who are already running that mod's tech line. It gives you more machines to automate with, extra ways to generate power, and new gear to use along the way.[1]
Unverified The available sources don't show where Extended Industrialization fits in this pack's progression. They also don't show whether the pack changes any of the mod's recipes or configs. The mod does not appear to be tied to any quests or to the ATM Star path in this pack.
How do you get started with Extended Industrialization?
4 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization. It adds extra machines, generators, tools and resources on top of it. Most of the recipes below are built from Modern Industrialization parts such as machine casings, hulls, rotors and circuits, so you'll be working with that mod's materials as you go.[1][3]
Start with the bronze-tier large machines
The first things I'd build are the Large Steam Furnace and the Large Steam Macerator. Both are made from bronze-tier Modern Industrialization parts, so you can reach them early. They are the mod's large furnace and large macerator in their steam form.[1][3]

Bronze bending machine and composter
Next come the Bronze Bending Machine and the Bronze Composter. The pack changed both of these recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Use the recipes below.[3]

Steel Plated Bricks
Steel Plated Bricks are a casing material, and the Large Electric Macerator recipe uses them. The pack changed this recipe too, so use the one shown here.[3]

Moving up to the electric large machines
When you are ready for electricity, the Large Electric Macerator and the Large Electric Furnace are the natural next step. Each one is built around the matching electric machine from Modern Industrialization, and the macerator also needs the Steel Plated Bricks from above.[3]

How does Extended Industrialization work?
6 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so everything here builds on that mod. It adds new machines, power sources, tools and resources. This section covers how the main systems work and what this pack's configs set for them.[1]
Machine Chainer
The Machine Chainer links consecutive machines in a straight line, in the direction it faces. It accepts items, fluids and energy and distributes them to the machines it connects. It can connect to other Machine Chainers, but a chain must never link back to itself.[4]
In this pack, machine_chainer_max_connections is 64 connections, with an allowed range of 1 to 128. machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier is 3. The base transfer rate equals the max transfer rate of the chainer's cable tier, which is set by the hull. The multiplier is applied on top of that, and 0 means infinite transfer. Both values match the mod defaults.[5]
Processing Array and the large batching machines
The batching machines process several items per operation. Each has a maximum batch size and an EU cost multiplier. In this pack the Large Steam Furnace and the Large Steam Macerator both have a batch size of 8, and the Large Electric Macerator has 16. All three use an EU multiplier of 0.75. The Processing Array uses an EU multiplier of 1. Every one of these values is the mod default.[5]
Upgrades are allowed inside the Processing Array, because allow_upgrades_in_processing_array is true in this pack.[5]
Farmer and other automation machines
The Farmer is a multi-task machine. Its tooltips describe these tasks:[4]
- Tilling: when enabled, it turns dirt into farmland. This does not work unless water is supplied.[4]
- Hydrating: when supplied with water, it hydrates tilled soil.[4]
- Planting: when supplied with crops or saplings, it plants them on valid soil. Different planting modes give different arrangements.[4]
- Fertilizing: when supplied with a valid fluid fertilizer, it randomly bonemeals crops and saplings. In this pack a single use of fertilizer can do at most 80 random ticks on a crop block.[4][5]
- Harvesting: when there is enough output space, it harvests fully grown crops and trees.[4]
Two smaller machines feed your automation. The Honey Extractor gives you honey as a fluid when placed facing into a beehive. The Waste Collector collects manure when placed underneath animals.[1][4]
Machine Config Card
The Machine Config Card saves you from reconfiguring identical machines by hand. Its tooltip describes this workflow:[4]
- Use the save keybind on a machine to store its settings in the card.[4]
- Use the card on another machine to apply the stored settings.[4]
- Optionally, hold the card in your off-hand when placing machines to apply the settings automatically.[4]
- Clear the card by using the clear keybind on air.[4]
Tesla wireless power
The Tesla Coil wirelessly transmits energy to linked receivers within range. This pack sets tesla_coil_range to 32 blocks, which is the mod default. The hull you provide sets the voltage, and higher voltages have a higher passive drain.[4][5]
The Tesla Tower is the bigger transmitter. Its transfer rate, range and passive drain depend on the windings you use. Its voltage is set by the energy hatches, and all hatches must be the same tier. The interdimensional upgrade removes the tower's range limit and lets it send energy across dimensions.[4]
A Tesla Receiver takes energy from a linked transmitter and must accept the same voltage as that transmitter. To link one, save the transmitter's position in the Tesla Calibrator, then use the calibrator on the receiver. You can also hold the calibrator in your off-hand while placing receivers to link them automatically. The handheld receiver charges items in your inventory while you are within range of its linked transmitter.[4]
The Lethal Tesla Coil damages entities within range while powered. This pack sets its range to 2 blocks, the mod default. The pack's config also contains a superconductor damage entry set to 2,147,483,647, but the file gives no description for it.[4][5]
The Tesla Particle Generator only produces arcs for looks and does nothing functional.[4]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:craft/tesla_particle_generator
If the arcs cost you frames, the client config has two options. Tesla animations are rendered in this pack, and the render distance is 0, which means they always render. You can set a distance above 0 to limit them.[6]
Machine tiers and pack recipe changes
Several of the new processing machines come in more than one tier. The sources show a Steel Alloy Smelter and an Electric Alloy Smelter. They also show a Steel Brewery and an Electric Brewery, plus a Steel Canning Machine and an Electric Canning Machine. The bending machine and the composter also have a bronze tier, as the Bronze Bending Machine and the Bronze Composter. Their electric versions are the Electric Bending Machine and the Electric Composter.[3]
You do not craft the Steel Bending Machine from scratch. You upgrade a Bronze Bending Machine with a Steel Upgrade.[3]

Both runtime_generated_recipes.canning_machine and runtime_generated_recipes.composter are true in this pack. That means canning machine and composter recipes are generated automatically at runtime.[5]
How do you progress through Extended Industrialization?
5 parts
Extended Industrialization builds on Modern Industrialization, and its machines follow the same ladder: steam (bronze), then steel, then electric. Higher up, it adds solar power and Tesla wireless energy. The recipes in this pack show where each machine sits on that ladder, so use them as your roadmap.[3]
Steam tier: bronze machines
Your first steps are the bronze-era machines. The Large Steam Furnace and Large Steam Macerator are multiblock versions of the basic bronze machines. You also get the Bronze Bending Machine, the Bronze Composter and the Bronze Solar Boiler, which heats steam from sunlight.[3]
The pack changed the Bronze Bending Machine and Bronze Composter recipes, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod. Here is the pack's Bronze Bending Machine recipe:[3]

Steel tier
Steel is where the upgrade path starts. For the bending machine, composter and solar boiler, you convert the bronze machine into its steel version with a shapeless upgrade recipe. This keeps your bronze machine useful instead of throwing it away.[3]

Other steel machines have their own direct crafts: the Steel Alloy Smelter, Steel Brewery, Steel Canning Machine and Steel Honey Extractor. The Steel Solar Boiler can be crafted directly as well as upgraded.[3]
The farmer line shows how steam leads into electric. The Steam Farmer uses a Steel Combine in its recipe, and the Electric Farmer is crafted from the Steam Farmer.[3]

Electric tier
Electric versions of the single-block machines are crafted separately from the steam line. They include the Electric Alloy Smelter, Electric Bending Machine, Electric Brewery, Electric Canning Machine, Electric Composter and Electric Honey Extractor.[3]
The big multiblock upgrades are the Large Electric Furnace and Large Electric Macerator. They replace the steam multiblocks once you have electricity running.[3]

Wireless Tesla energy follows the same tiers. The LV Tesla Receiver Hatch, MV Tesla Receiver Hatch, HV Tesla Receiver Hatch and EV Tesla Receiver Hatch are each built around a Tesla Receiver. The Tesla Particle Generator and Lethal Tesla Coil both use a Silver Tesla Top Load.[3]
Late-game helpers
The Processing Array and Large Configurable Chest are crafted with shaped recipes. The Machine Chainer Relay is crafted the same way.[3]

Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/processing_array/craft
Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and no in-jar guidebook was found. The order above comes from the recipes alone, not from a quest path, so you can unlock these machines in whatever order suits your base.
How does Extended Industrialization work with other mods?
5 parts
Extended Industrialization is an addon for Modern Industrialization, so almost everything it adds plugs straight into that mod's parts and progression. In this pack's recipes, its machines are built from Modern Industrialization components, and many of them can be made both by hand in a crafting grid and in the Modern Industrialization assembler.[1][3]
Machines built on Modern Industrialization parts
The electric machines, like the Electric Alloy Smelter, Electric Brewery and Electric Canning Machine, are built around Modern Industrialization machine hulls, circuits, cables and rotors. The steel machines, like the Steel Alloy Smelter and Steel Honey Extractor, lean on Modern Industrialization casings, rotors and pipes instead.[3]
The brewery recipes are the one place a vanilla item shows up: both the Electric Brewery and the Steel Brewery need a Blaze Rod.[3]
Steel upgrades
The bending machine and composter use the Steel Upgrade. You combine the bronze version with the upgrade to get the steel version. The same upgrade is also available in the packer, and the unpacker turns a steel machine back into its bronze version plus the upgrade.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/bending_machine/craft/upgrade_steel
The composter has the same kind of upgrade recipe.
Recipes the pack changed
Some Extended Industrialization recipes that use Modern Industrialization items are modified in this pack: Steel Plated Bricks, the Bronze Bending Machine and the Bronze Composter. Follow the recipes below rather than the mod's defaults. The assembler versions of these are changed as well.[3]

Farmers, components and modules
The Steam Farmer needs a Steel Combine, which is itself made from Modern Industrialization parts. The Electric Farmer then takes the steam farmer plus a Large Motor, a Large Pump and a Robot Arm, so the farmer is a good example of both mods' progression chaining together.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/farmer/craft/electric
The Looting Module and Silk Touch Module have assembler recipes that use Modern Industrialization's Robot Arm and Polyethylene. The silk touch module uses the Invar Rotary Blade from Modern Industrialization, while the looting module uses the Netherite Rotary Blade from this mod.[3]

Power and Tesla gear
The Tesla receiver hatches build on Modern Industrialization hulls and cables. The EV Tesla Receiver Hatch uses a Highly Advanced Machine Hull, and the HV Tesla Receiver Hatch uses a Turbo Machine Hull. The Tesla Particle Generator uses an Electronic Circuit, and the HV Solar Panel uses an Advanced Motor, Industrial Aluminum Cable and a Digital Circuit.[3]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: extended_industrialization:machines/ev_tesla_receiver_hatch/craft
Unverified The sources here show no quests in the pack's quest book that involve Extended Industrialization, so any quest-guided path for these integrations is not confirmed. The recipes above are what the pack's data shows.
Which Extended Industrialization config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news first: for Extended Industrialization, this pack doesn't override any of the values the config files report a mod default for. Everything below is the pack's actual value, and it matches the mod's own default. So if you've played the addon elsewhere, the numbers will feel familiar.[7][8]
Processing Array
The biggest one to know is processing_array_max_size, set to 4 here. The tiers map to batch sizes: 1 is 8, 2 is 16, 3 is 32 and 4 is 64, so you get the full 64 in this pack. The Processing Array's EU cost multiplier, batching_machines.processing_array_eu, is 1. Upgrades are allowed inside it, because allow_upgrades_in_processing_array is true.[8]
Large machines
- Large Electric Macerator: max batch size batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_size is 16, and the EU cost multiplier batching_machines.large_electric_macerator_eu is 0.75.[8]
- Large Steam Macerator: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_macerator_eu of 0.75.[8]
- Large Steam Furnace: batch size batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_size is 8, with an EU multiplier batching_machines.large_steam_furnace_eu of 0.75.[8]
Machine Chainer, Farmer and Tesla Coils
- machine_chainer_max_connections is 64, so a single machine chainer can have up to 64 connections.[8]
- machine_chainer_max_transfer_multiplier is 3. The base transfer rate is the max transfer rate of the chainer's cable tier (set by the hull), and this multiplier is applied on top. Setting it to 0 would mean infinite transfer, but the pack doesn't do that.[8]
- farmer_fertilizer_max_random_ticks is 80, the most random ticks the Farmer can apply to one crop block per use of fertilizer.[8]
- tesla_coil_range is 32 for energy transmission, while the lethal Tesla Coil's damage range, lethal_tesla_coil.range, is 2.[8]
Generated recipes
Both runtime_generated_recipes.canning_machine and runtime_generated_recipes.composter are true, so Canning Machine and Composter recipes are generated automatically at runtime.[8]
Client visuals
On the client side, render_tesla_animations is true, so Tesla animations show. tesla_animations_render_distance is 0, which means they always render no matter how far away you are. If the effects hurt your frame rate in a big base, this is the place to look.[7]
Unverified lethal_tesla_coil.damage.superconductor is set to 2,147,483,647 in this pack, but the config lists no mod default or description for it, so it's unconfirmed whether this differs from the mod's default or what exactly it controls.
What changed in Extended Industrialization between versions?
3 parts
FTB Skies 2 1.21.1 ships Extended Industrialization 1.15.45-1.21.1, and the mod was already in the pack by FTB Skies 2 1.0.1. Below are notable changes from the mod's own release notes, newest first. It's a selection of releases, not every version.[9]
Recent releases
