What is Comforts?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks to the game. You use them like beds, but they never set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors, and you can dye any sleeping bag or hammock cloth into any other color.[1]
Sleeping bags
Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack and are more convenient to carry on adventures, which makes them handy for skipping the night when you're far from home and don't want to move your spawn.[1]
Hammocks
Hammocks work like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. Building one takes a bit more than crafting the cloth, so the mod author's hammock building guide is worth a look before you start.[1]
Who it's for
If you travel a lot, explore far from base, or run long mining and exploration trips, this mod is for you. It lets you sleep through the night without risking your carefully placed spawn point.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 for NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
The mod has several config options: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs, and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The sources I have don't show whether the pack changes any of their defaults, so check the config in your own instance before relying on specific behavior.[1]
Unverified No quests in this pack were found for Comforts, and it does not appear on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life mod rather than a progression step.
How do you get started with Comforts?
4 parts
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks. They work like beds, but they do not set your spawn point when you use them, so your spawn point stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors.[1]
Know which one you need
Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack, so they're handy on expeditions. Hammocks are like an inverse bed: they turn day into night instead of skipping the night.[1]
Start with a sleeping bag
The sleeping bag is the easier one to get going with. To place one, use it while crouching. Depending on the config, a placed bag may also try to put you to sleep automatically.[3]
Move on to a hammock
A hammock starts with hammock cloth. To place one you also need a rope and nail, which the mod describes as the item used for placing hammocks. The hammock tooltip says it requires something to place, so check that tooltip in your own game.[3]
Recolor instead of remaking
You don't need to craft new hammock cloth for every color. Each color has its own dye recipe in this pack that turns hammock cloth into that color. Here are red and black as examples. The other colors follow the same pattern.[4]
Recolors hammock cloth to Red Hammock Cloth.
Recolors hammock cloth to Black Hammock Cloth.
The mod page says sleeping bags can be dyed into other colors too.[1]
How does Comforts work?
5 parts
The sources describe only sleeping bags and hammocks for Comforts, so this section covers how sleeping works and how the pack has configured it.[1]
Sleeping bags and hammocks
Both items work like beds, except they never set your spawn point. Your respawn stays safely at your home base. Sleeping bags stack and are handy on adventures. Hammocks act like an inverse bed and turn day into night.[1]
To place a sleeping bag, use it while crouching. It then automatically tries to put you to sleep. In this pack autoUse is turned on, so players attempt to sleep as soon as the bag is placed.[3][5]
Hammocks are placed with a rope and nail item, which the tooltip describes as used for placing hammocks.[3]
When you can sleep
Each item has a time-of-day setting that accepts NONE, DAY, NIGHT or DAY_OR_NIGHT. In this pack sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT and hammockUse is set to DAY. Bags work at night, hammocks work during the day.[5]
Trying to sleep in either item stops phantoms from spawning, because sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms are both enabled.[3][5]
Skipping time with other players
daySleepingPercentage sets what percentage of players must sleep to skip the day. A value of 0 lets one player skip it, and 100 requires everyone. Any value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule. The pack uses -1, so the game rule decides.[3][5]
dayWakeTimeOffset and nightWakeTimeOffset add or remove ticks from the new time after you wake, within a range of -2,000 to 2,000. Both are 0 in this pack, so no extra offset is applied. By their descriptions, the first applies after sleeping through a night and the second after sleeping through a day.[3][5]
Wear, tear and side effects
- sleepingBagBreakChance is the percentage chance that a bag breaks on use. It is 0 here, and sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier (your luck multiplied by this value, then added to the break chance) is also 0, so bags don't break in this pack.[3][5]
- sleepingBagEffects lists status effects applied after using a bag, in the format effect;duration(secs);power. The list is empty in this pack, so a bag gives no effects.[3][5]
- restrictSleeping would stop you sleeping again for a while after a sleep, and restMultiplier sets that wait (larger numbers let you sleep sooner). The restriction is off in this pack, and the multiplier is 2 with an allowed range of 1.0 to 20.0.[3][5]
Recipes and dyeing
The default hammock and sleeping bag recipes are both enabled here through enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes.[3][6]
You can dye any hammock cloth into another color. The pack has dye recipes such as the one for Blue Hammock Cloth.[1][4]
A shapeless recipe that turns a hammock cloth of any other color into blue with blue dye.
How do you progress through Comforts?
Comforts has no tier ladder in this pack, so there is no progression path to walk through. What the pack's recipes do show is dyeing: you can change the color of hammocks and sleeping bags.[4]
Hammocks come as colored cloth, like Black Hammock Cloth, and sleeping bags come in matching colors, like Black Sleeping Bag. Each color has its own shapeless dye recipe, and those recipes take cloth of other colors as inputs, so you can recolor a hammock cloth you already have. Here is the black hammock cloth recipe as an example.[4]
Hammock cloth dyeing, shown here for black. The other colors have their own recipes of the same kind.
Sleeping bags work the same way, with one shapeless dye recipe per color. This is the blue version.[4]
Sleeping bag dyeing, shown here for blue.
These dye recipes are listed as mod recipes, and nothing about them shows the pack changing them. More Comforts recipes exist beyond the ones shown here, but they are not covered in this section.[4]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quests for Comforts in this pack, so there is no quest chapter placement or recommended order to describe. If the pack's quest book mentions the mod, check there.
How does Comforts work with other mods?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
The only link between Comforts and another mod in this pack comes from crafting. All 16 colors of sleeping bag, from White Sleeping Bag to Black Sleeping Bag, are crafted from the matching-color sheet from Handcrafted, such as White Sheet.[1][7]
This is a pack change. The recipe dump marks every one of these sleeping bag recipes as changed by the pack, and each one is a shaped crafting recipe. The Comforts project page describes a different default recipe for the sleeping bag, so don't rely on that description here. Use the sheet recipes instead.[1][7]

Which Comforts config options matter?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Comforts splits its settings across two files in this pack. Most of what you'll notice in play lives in the server file, and the common file only controls whether the recipes exist. Here is how the pack sets the options you're most likely to care about.[8][9]
When you can sleep
- sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT, so sleeping bags work at night, like a normal bed. The allowed values are NONE, DAY, NIGHT and DAY_OR_NIGHT.[9]
- hammockUse is set to DAY. Hammocks are an inverse bed that turns day into night, so in this pack you use them during the day.[1][9]
- autoUse is true, so players automatically try to use a sleeping bag as soon as it is placed.[9]
Phantoms
Both sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms are true. Attempting to sleep in either one stops phantoms from spawning.[9]
Sleeping bag wear and side effects
- sleepingBagBreakChance is 0, so the percentage chance that a sleeping bag breaks upon use is 0. The option accepts 0 to 100.[9]
- sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier is 0. It would multiply a player's luck and add the result to the break chance, but at 0 it adds nothing.[9]
- sleepingBagEffects is an empty list, so using a sleeping bag applies no status effects.[9]
Sleep restrictions and skipping time
- restrictSleeping is false, so there's no cooldown between sleeps. restMultiplier is 2, but it only matters when restrictSleeping is true.[9]
- daySleepingPercentage is -1. A value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule instead of a Comforts-specific percentage.[9]
- dayWakeTimeOffset and nightWakeTimeOffset are both 0, so no extra ticks are added to or removed from the new time after sleeping.[9]
Recipes
enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes are both true, so the default hammock and sleeping bag recipes are available in the pack.[8]
What changed in Comforts between versions?
There isn't much version history to report for Comforts in this pack. FTB Skies 2 1.5.1 ships Comforts 9.0.4+1.21.1 (the NeoForge build), and the mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier.[10]
The only mod changelog available is for 9.0.4+1.21.1, dated 2025.05.23. It lists only localization updates: ru_ru, ko_kr, ja_jp, es_es and es_ar. Nothing in it changes gameplay, items or recipes.[11]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, and the mod's older changelog entries aren't covered here, so I can't say what changed in earlier Comforts versions.[10][11]
