Handcrafted is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 4.0.3. Make your house a home! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Handcrafted?

1 part

Handcrafted is a furniture and decoration mod that helps you turn a plain blocky build into a proper home. It comes from the creators of Chipped.[1]

The mod adds over 250 furniture pieces, including chairs, tables, benches and desks. The styles range from fantasy, steampunk and medieval to a more vanilla look, so you can match whatever your base is going for.[1]

In this pack

This pack ships Handcrafted 4.0.3, the NeoForge build for Minecraft 1.21.1. It has been in the pack since version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show where the pack's quest book places this mod, so its chapter, group, and the quests before and after it are unconfirmed. They also do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it. Check the pack's quest book itself for any entry.

How do you get started with Handcrafted?

4 parts

Handcrafted is a furniture mod with over 250 pieces, including chairs, tables, benches and desks. The recipes below are all crafting grid recipes, so you can start decorating as soon as you have the materials. Here is the order I'd go in.[1][3]

Start with a table and a chair

The simplest furniture comes in one set per wood type. I'm using birch as the example, and acacia and bamboo have matching versions. The Birch Table and Birch Chair are mod recipes that the pack leaves untouched, so they are a good first test of the mod.[3]

Try the trims too. Birch Corner Trim and Birch Pillar Trim are unchanged mod recipes, and there are stone-style versions like Andesite Corner Trim and Blackstone Pillar Trim.[3]

Storage and work furniture: use the pack's recipes

This is where the pack differs from the mod's defaults. The pack changed the recipes for the cupboard, nightstand, desk, drawer, shelf, side table and counter, and for the Bench. Don't rely on the mod's default recipes for these. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack versions.[3]

Once a counter is placed, right-click it with wood or stone to change its surface.[4]

Cushions and sheets for soft furniture

Couches need a cushion, and fancy beds need both a cushion and a sheet. So a Black Cushion is a good thing to craft early. Sheets such as the Black Sheet are crafted from wool too.[3]

Couches use any cushion, so pick the colour you like.

After placing a bed, right-click it with a cushion to change the pillow colour, or with a sheet to change the bedsheets.[4]

Crockery and finishing touches

Crockery starts as plain terracotta pieces like the Terracotta Cup, which you turn into coloured versions such as the Blue Cup. Right-click a crockery combo with any item to place that item on the plate.[3][4]

Tip: Hammers change the look of blocks. Right-click a block with a hammer to change its look or its shape, or shift-right-click to change its look. Hold SHIFT over an item's tooltip for more information.[4]

How does Handcrafted work?

3 parts

Handcrafted is a furniture and decor mod. The project page describes it as over 250 furniture pieces, including chairs, tables, benches and desks. The sources here don't describe machines, power or automation for it. What they do explain is how you interact with the blocks, and that is what this section covers.[1]

Changing how furniture looks

Most of the mod's mechanics are right-click interactions. A hammer changes the look of blocks: right-click with it to change a block's look, or shift-right-click to change it. A right-click with the hammer can also change a block's shape.[4]

  • Cushions: right-click a block with a cushion to change its look.[4]
  • Sheets: right-click a block with a sheet to change its look.[4]
  • Beds: right-click with a cushion to change the bed's pillow color, or with a sheet to change the bedsheets.[4]
  • Counters: right-click with wood or stone to change the counter surface.[4]
Tip: Items in this mod show extra details in their tooltip when you hold SHIFT, so check there first if you're unsure how a piece works.[4]

Placing things on furniture

Some blocks carry a tooltip saying they can be placed on furniture. The crockery combo works differently: right-click the plate with any item to place that item on it.[4]

Crafting in this pack

The recipe dump shows that this pack has changed several furniture recipes compared with the mod's own. The acacia and bamboo versions of the counter, cupboard, desk, drawer, nightstand, shelf and side table are all marked as changed by the pack. Other pieces, such as the benches, chairs, tables, couches, fancy beds and trims, use the mod's own recipes.[3]

Here is the pack's version of the Acacia Counter. The bamboo counter is also changed by the pack and uses its own planks.[3]

How do you progress through Handcrafted?

5 parts

Handcrafted is a decoration mod, so there are no machine tiers or power levels to climb. Every recipe shown for it in this pack is a crafting-table recipe, shaped or shapeless. Progression here means working up from simple wooden pieces to furniture that needs extra parts.[3]

The recipe list is cut off, so the stages below only cover what is actually shown. Acacia, bamboo, birch and cherry furniture are all visible, and other wood types may exist.[3]

Basic wooden pieces

Start with the simple wood furniture. The Acacia Table, Acacia Chair, Acacia Bench and Acacia Dining Bench all use the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack. The same goes for the corner and pillar trims, like the Acacia Corner Trim and Acacia Pillar Trim. Bamboo, birch and cherry have matching versions of each.[3]

Soft furnishings

Couches and fancy beds build on cushions and sheets, so make those first. Cushions and sheets come in colors, for example the Black Cushion and the Blue Sheet. After that you can make the Acacia Couch and the Acacia Fancy Bed. Both use the mod's own recipes.[3]

Storage furniture changed by the pack

This is where the pack differs from the mod's defaults. In the wood sets shown (acacia, bamboo, birch and cherry), the counter, cupboard, desk, drawer, nightstand, shelf and side table are all marked as changed by the pack. Their recipes need extra parts that the plain tables and chairs don't, so check the recipe before you gather materials for a whole room.[3]

Stone trims, crockery and trophies

These sit beside the main path rather than on it. Stone trims such as Andesite Corner Trim, Blackstone Pillar Trim, Bricks Corner Trim and Calcite Pillar Trim all use the mod's own recipes.[3]

Crockery comes in terracotta and blue versions, like the Terracotta Bowl, the Blue Bowl and the Blue Glazed Medium Pot. All of these use the mod's own recipes, unchanged by the pack. The recipe below shows the blue bowl.[3]

How does Handcrafted work with other mods?

1 part

Handcrafted is a furniture mod with over 250 pieces, from chairs and tables to benches and desks. In this pack, the clearest link to another mod is with Comforts, and it runs through the colored sheets.[1][3]

Sheets and Comforts sleeping bags

The pack changes the Comforts sleeping bag recipes so that each sleeping bag is crafted from the Handcrafted sheet of the matching color. For example, the White Sheet leads to the White Sleeping Bag, and the Red Sheet leads to the Red Sleeping Bag. Every sleeping bag color in the recipe list follows the same pattern, one sheet color per bag color.[3]

Tip: Pick the sheet color you want, because the sleeping bag you get matches it. The sheets are Handcrafted items, so you need that mod's sheets to make these Comforts sleeping bags.[3]

What changed in Handcrafted between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Handcrafted version 4.0.3, using the NeoForge 1.21.1 build. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so you have had it for the whole run of releases covered here.[2]

The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there is nothing pack-specific to report. What follows comes from the mod's own 4.0.3 changelog, which is the version you are playing.[2][5]

Handcrafted 4.0.3

  • Fixed an oven crash.[5]
  • Fixed the UV on tables.[5]
  • Fixed dismounting from chairs.[5]
  • Improved furniture interactions.[5]
  • Added a Turkish localization.[5]

Changelogs for earlier Handcrafted versions were not provided, so I can't say what changed between the version first shipped in the pack and 4.0.3.[2][5]
