What is Comforts?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks to the game. You use them like beds, but they never set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors, and you can dye any sleeping bag or hammock cloth into any other color.[1]
Sleeping bags
Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack and are more convenient to carry on adventures, which makes them handy for skipping the night when you're far from home and don't want to move your spawn.[1]
Hammocks
Hammocks work like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. Building one takes a bit more than crafting the cloth, so the mod author's hammock building guide is worth a look before you start.[1]
Who it's for
If you travel a lot, explore far from base, or run long mining and exploration trips, this mod is for you. It lets you sleep through the night without risking your carefully placed spawn point.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 for NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
The mod has several config options: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs, and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The sources I have don't show whether the pack changes any of their defaults, so check the config in your own instance before relying on specific behavior.[1]
Unverified No quests in this pack were found for Comforts, and it does not appear on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life mod rather than a progression step.
How do you get started with Comforts?
4 parts
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks. They work like beds, but they do not set your spawn point when you use them, so your home base spawn stays safe wherever you nap. Both come in 16 colors.[1]
Make a sleeping bag
Start with a sleeping bag. It's the portable option: sleeping bags can be stacked and are convenient on adventures away from base. To place one, use it while crouching.[1][3]
Sleeping bags can also try to put you to sleep the moment you place them. That depends on an auto-use setting in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show the pack's value for it.[3]
Set up a hammock
Hammocks are like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. You craft the hammock cloth first, and the Rope and Nail is what you use to place the hammock. The hammock's tooltip tells you what is required to place it.[1][3]
Change colors
If you ended up with the wrong color, you don't need to start over. You can dye a hammock cloth into another color, for example Blue Hammock Cloth. The pack changes these dye recipes, so use the in-pack one below rather than the mod's default.[1][4]
This is the pack's version of the dye recipe for blue hammock cloth, which the pack has changed.
Before you rely on it
The mod has config options for things like auto-using sleeping bags, the time of day hammocks and sleeping bags can be used, sleeping bag break chance and sleeping bag effects. The sources here do not show the pack's values for these, so test them in your world before you depend on them.[1][3]
How does Comforts work?
5 parts
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks that you can use just like beds, except they do not set your spawn point on use. That keeps your spawn safe at your home base. Both come in 16 colors.[1]
Sleeping bags vs. hammocks
Sleeping bags stack and are handy on adventures. Hammocks are like an inverse bed and turn day into night.[1]
To place a sleeping bag, use it while crouching. It then automatically attempts to sleep. In this pack autoUse is turned on, so players automatically try to sleep as soon as a bag is placed.[3][5]
Hammocks need the rope and nail item to be placed: its tooltip says it is used for placing hammocks, and the hammock tooltip says it requires something to place.[3]
When you can sleep
Each item has a time-of-day setting that accepts NONE, DAY, NIGHT or DAY_OR_NIGHT. In this pack sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT and hammockUse is set to DAY. So sleeping bags are for night and hammocks are for day.[5]
Both sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms are enabled. Attempting to sleep in either one stops phantoms from spawning.[3][5]
Skipping time
daySleepingPercentage sets what percentage of players must sleep to skip the day. A value of 0 lets one player skip it, and 100 requires everyone. This pack sets it to -1, and any value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule.[3][5]
dayWakeTimeOffset adds or removes ticks from the new time after sleeping through a night, and nightWakeTimeOffset does the same after sleeping through a day. Each accepts values from -2,000 to 2,000, and both are 0 in this pack, so there is no shift.[3][5]
Rest limits, breakage and effects
- restrictSleeping is false in this pack. If you turn it on, players can't sleep again for a period after sleeping, and restMultiplier sets that wait (larger numbers sleep sooner). The pack value is 2.[3][5]
- sleepingBagBreakChance is the percentage chance a sleeping bag breaks on use. It is 0 in this pack, so bags don't break.[3][5]
- sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier multiplies a player's luck and adds it to the break chance. It is 0 in this pack.[3][5]
- sleepingBagEffects lists status effects applied after using a bag, in the format effect;duration(secs);power. The list is empty in this pack, so no effects are applied.[3][5]
Recipes
The pack leaves the default recipes on: enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes are both true. You can dye any hammock cloth into another color, and the pack changes these dye recipes from the mod's version. Here is the black one as an example, and the other colors follow the same pattern.[1][4][6]
Dyeing a hammock cloth black, as changed by the pack.
How do you progress through Comforts?
Here's the honest picture for this pack: the sources I have don't show a tiered progression for this mod. Nothing I can confirm describes upgrade levels, gated stages or a quest-driven path.[4]
What the pack does show is a set of dye recipes. They cover the hammock cloth colours, such as Blue Hammock Cloth, and the sleeping bag colours, such as Black Sleeping Bag and Blue Sleeping Bag. Each one is a shapeless crafting recipe, and the pack marks every one of them as changed from the mod's default.[4]
In practice, these recipes let you turn a hammock cloth or sleeping bag of another colour into the colour you want, so you aren't locked into the colour you first made. Here's one example, the blue hammock cloth recipe, exactly as the pack has it:[4]
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default. The other hammock cloth colours use the same pattern with their own dye.
Unverified Whether any quest involves this mod is set in the pack's quest book, and the sources here do not show any quest for it, so no quest-based progression is described.
How does Comforts work with other mods?
The only link between Comforts and another mod in this pack comes from crafting. All 16 colors of sleeping bag, from White Sleeping Bag to Black Sleeping Bag, are crafted from the matching-color sheet from Handcrafted, such as White Sheet.[1][4]
This is a pack change. The recipe dump marks every one of these sleeping bag recipes as changed by the pack, and each one is a shaped crafting recipe. The Comforts project page describes a different default recipe for the sleeping bag, so don't rely on that description here. Use the sheet recipes instead.[1][4]

Which Comforts config options matter?
5 parts
Comforts splits its settings across two files in this pack. Most of what you'll notice in play lives in the server file, and the common file only controls whether the recipes exist. Here is how the pack sets the options you're most likely to care about.[5][6]
When you can sleep
- sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT, so sleeping bags work at night, like a normal bed. The allowed values are NONE, DAY, NIGHT and DAY_OR_NIGHT.[5]
- hammockUse is set to DAY. Hammocks are an inverse bed that turns day into night, so in this pack you use them during the day.[1][5]
- autoUse is true, so players automatically try to use a sleeping bag as soon as it is placed.[5]
Phantoms
Both sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms are true. Attempting to sleep in either one stops phantoms from spawning.[5]
Sleeping bag wear and side effects
- sleepingBagBreakChance is 0, so the percentage chance that a sleeping bag breaks upon use is 0. The option accepts 0 to 100.[5]
- sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier is 0. It would multiply a player's luck and add the result to the break chance, but at 0 it adds nothing.[5]
- sleepingBagEffects is an empty list, so using a sleeping bag applies no status effects.[5]
Sleep restrictions and skipping time
- restrictSleeping is false, so there's no cooldown between sleeps. restMultiplier is 2, but it only matters when restrictSleeping is true.[5]
- daySleepingPercentage is -1. A value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule instead of a Comforts-specific percentage.[5]
- dayWakeTimeOffset and nightWakeTimeOffset are both 0, so no extra ticks are added to or removed from the new time after sleeping.[5]
Recipes
enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes are both true, so the default hammock and sleeping bag recipes are available in the pack.[6]
What changed in Comforts between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 (the NeoForge build). Comforts has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[7]
Recent mod releases
- 9.0.5+1.21.1 (2026.01.23), the version in this pack: fixed the nightWakeTimeOffset configuration option conflicting with mods that increment ticks while sleeping.[7][8]
- 9.0.4+1.21.1 (2025.05.23): updated the ru_ru, ko_kr, ja_jp, es_es and es_ar localizations. Nothing gameplay-related changed in this release.[9]
If you use sleeping gear from Comforts alongside other mods that speed up time while you sleep, the 9.0.5 fix is the one that matters to you.[8]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Comforts were available, so whether the pack changed any Comforts values or recipes between releases is unverified.
