Comforts is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 15.0.0+26.1.2. Adds sleeping bags and hammocks for, respectively, portability and turning day to night, without setting new spawns. Comes in 16 different colors! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Comforts?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks to the game. You use them like beds, but they never set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors, and you can dye any sleeping bag or hammock cloth into any other color.[1]

Sleeping bags

Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack and are more convenient to carry on adventures, which makes them handy for skipping the night when you're far from home and don't want to move your spawn.[1]

Hammocks

Hammocks work like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. Building one takes a bit more than crafting the cloth, so the mod author's hammock building guide is worth a look before you start.[1]

Who it's for

If you travel a lot, explore far from base, or run long mining and exploration trips, this mod is for you. It lets you sleep through the night without risking your carefully placed spawn point.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 for NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]

The mod has several config options: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs, and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The sources I have don't show whether the pack changes any of their defaults, so check the config in your own instance before relying on specific behavior.[1]

Unverified No quests in this pack were found for Comforts, and it does not appear on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life mod rather than a progression step.

How do you get started with Comforts?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks. They work like beds, but they don't set your spawn point, so your home base stays safe as your spawn. Both come in 16 colors, so you can match your base or camp.[1]

First: make a sleeping bag

Start with a sleeping bag, like the Red Sleeping Bag. It's the portable option: sleeping bags can be stacked and are more convenient to use on adventures.[1][3]

Crafting Shaped

Each of the 16 colors has its own recipe in the pack. Red is shown as an example.

To place a sleeping bag, use it while crouching. Its tooltip also says it automatically attempts to sleep.[4]

Tip: You don't have to craft the exact color you want from scratch. Any sleeping bag can be dyed into another color, and the pack has dye recipes for every color, such as Blue Sleeping Bag.[1][3]

Crafting Shapeless

  • any blue dye
  • Sleeping Bag White or Sleeping Bag Orange or Sleeping Bag Magenta or Sleeping Bag Light Blue or Yellow Sleeping Bag or Sleeping Bag Lime or Sleeping Bag Pink or Sleeping Bag Gray or Sleeping Bag Light Gray or Sleeping Bag Cyan or Sleeping Bag Purple or Sleeping Bag Brown or Sleeping Bag Green or Red Sleeping Bag or Black Sleeping Bag

Next: make a Rope and Nail

Next, craft the Rope and Nail. Its tooltip says it's used for placing hammocks, so make it before you try to set one up.[3][4]

Then: make a hammock

Now craft hammock cloth, such as Red Hammock Cloth. A hammock is like an inverse bed: it turns day into night, while a sleeping bag is the on-the-go bed. The hammock's tooltip also notes that it requires another item to place.[1][3][4]

How does Comforts work?

6 parts

Comforts is all about sleeping gear, so the core mechanics here are about when you can sleep, how the gear behaves and what the pack changes. Sleeping bags and hammocks work like beds, except they do not set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. They come in 16 colors.[1]

Sleeping bags vs hammocks

Sleeping bags can be stacked and are handy on adventures. Hammocks are like an inverse bed, turning day into night.[1]

The pack decides when each one works. sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT and hammockUse is set to DAY. The allowed values for both are NONE, DAY, NIGHT, DAY_OR_NIGHT and USE_WITHOUT_SLEEPING. If you try a hammock at the wrong time, the game tells you that you can only sleep during the day.[5][6]

Both kinds of gear stop phantoms from spawning when you attempt to sleep in them. The pack has sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms both set to true.[5][6]

Placing and using a sleeping bag

autoUse is true in the pack, so a sleeping bag automatically attempts to sleep as soon as you place it. The tooltip tells you to use the item while crouching to place it.[5][6]

Sleeping bags can break on use. The chance is sleepingBagBreakChance, and your luck multiplied by sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier is added to it. The pack sets both to 0, so bags are not set up to break. If you raise the chance, you will see the message that the sleeping bag broke.[5][6]

sleepingBagEffects can apply status effects after you use a bag, written as effect;duration(secs);power. In the pack the list is empty, so no effects are applied.[5][6]

Building a hammock

A hammock hangs between two Rope and Nail blocks, which is what that item is for. The game gives you specific messages when something is wrong: you must hang it on a pair of rope and nail, there must be a rope and nail on the other end, the other end can be too far away, and there must be enough space to fit the hammock.[6][7]

Once it is hung, a hammock can only hold one sleeper at a time, and you cannot rest if you are too far away from it. All 16 colors are in the comforts hammocks block tag.[1][6][8]

When you break a hammock, the cloth item only drops from the head part of the block. The drop keeps any custom name the hammock had. A broken rope and nail drops itself.[9][10]

Recipes and dyeing

The pack leaves the default hammock and sleeping bag recipes on, with enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes both true. You can also dye any hammock cloth into another color.[1][11]

Skipping the night or day

daySleepingPercentage sets what percentage of players must sleep to skip the day. A value of 0 lets one player do it and 100 needs everyone. The pack uses -1, and any value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule.[5][6]

After a skip, the time can be nudged by a number of ticks between -2000 and 2000. dayWakeTimeOffset applies after sleeping through a night and nightWakeTimeOffset applies after sleeping through a day. Both are 0 in the pack, so there is no shift.[5][6]

Rest restriction

restrictSleeping would stop players from sleeping again for a while after sleeping. It is false in the pack, so there is no cooldown. If you turn it on, restMultiplier controls the wait, where larger numbers let you sleep sooner. The pack value is 2, in a range of 1.0 to 20.0.[5][6]

How do you progress through Comforts?

3 parts

Here is the honest picture for you: the sources I have for this pack show no tiers for Comforts. What they do show is a flat set of crafting recipes, so you can make everything without climbing a ladder. Everything below is just what you can craft and in what order it makes sense to do it.[7]

Start with the rope

Rope and Nail has its own shaped crafting recipe, and one craft gives you 2 of them.[7]

Hammocks

Hammocks come as colored cloth items, from Black Hammock Cloth to Yellow Hammock Cloth, with one color per dye. Each color has a shaped crafting recipe. Each color also has a separate shapeless dye recipe that makes the same item. Red is shown here as an example.[7]

When you break a hammock, the loot tables I can see (black, blue, brown, cyan, gray, green, light blue and light gray) only drop the item from the head part of the block. They also copy a custom name onto the dropped item, so a renamed hammock keeps its name.[9][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]

Sleeping bags

Sleeping bags follow the same pattern, from Black Sleeping Bag to Yellow Sleeping Bag. Each color has a shaped crafting recipe and a shapeless dye recipe.[7]

Unverified Whether the pack's quest book gates any of this is not shown by the sources here. The quest chapters are where that would be told, and nothing in the sources I have confirms a quest for Comforts.

Which Comforts config options matter?

5 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Comforts splits its settings across two files in this pack. Most of what you'll notice in play lives in the server file, and the common file only controls whether the recipes exist. Here is how the pack sets the options you're most likely to care about.[19][20]

When you can sleep

  • sleepingBagUse is set to NIGHT, so sleeping bags work at night, like a normal bed. The allowed values are NONE, DAY, NIGHT and DAY_OR_NIGHT.[20]
  • hammockUse is set to DAY. Hammocks are an inverse bed that turns day into night, so in this pack you use them during the day.[1][20]
  • autoUse is true, so players automatically try to use a sleeping bag as soon as it is placed.[20]

Phantoms

Both sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms are true. Attempting to sleep in either one stops phantoms from spawning.[20]

Sleeping bag wear and side effects

Sleep restrictions and skipping time

Recipes

enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes are both true, so the default hammock and sleeping bag recipes are available in the pack.[19]

What changed in Comforts between versions?

1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Comforts 15.0.0+26.1.2. The mod was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not new in this release.[21]

Comforts 15.0.0+26.1.2 (2026.06.21)

This is the version your pack runs, and its changelog has one addition and one change.[21][22]

  • Added: a comforts:sleep_schedule timeline with time markers that control when you wake up.[22]
  • The comforts:wake_up_from_sleep marker sets when you wake up after sleeping through the night. If it is unused, the mod defers to vanilla behavior.[22]
  • The comforts:wake_up_from_nap marker sets when you wake up after sleeping through the day.[22]
  • Changed: the mod was updated to Minecraft 26.1.2.[22]
