What is Comforts?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks to the game. You use them like beds, but they never set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors, and you can dye any sleeping bag or hammock cloth into any other color.[1]

Sleeping bags

Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack and are more convenient to carry on adventures, which makes them handy for skipping the night when you're far from home and don't want to move your spawn.[1]

Hammocks

Hammocks work like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. Building one takes a bit more than crafting the cloth, so the mod author's hammock building guide is worth a look before you start.[1]

Who it's for

If you travel a lot, explore far from base, or run long mining and exploration trips, this mod is for you. It lets you sleep through the night without risking your carefully placed spawn point.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 for NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]

The mod has several config options: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs, and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The sources I have don't show whether the pack changes any of their defaults, so check the config in your own instance before relying on specific behavior.[1]

Unverified No quests in this pack were found for Comforts, and it does not appear on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life mod rather than a progression step.

How do you get started with Comforts?

3 parts

Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks. They work like beds, but they don't set your spawn point, so your home base stays safe as your spawn. Both come in 16 colors, so you can match your base or camp.[1]

First: make a sleeping bag

Start with a sleeping bag, like the Red Sleeping Bag. It's the portable option: sleeping bags can be stacked and are more convenient to use on adventures.[1][3]

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: comforts:sleeping_bag_red

Each of the 16 colors has its own recipe in the pack. Red is shown as an example.

To place a sleeping bag, use it while crouching. Its tooltip also says it automatically attempts to sleep.[4]

Tip: You don't have to craft the exact color you want from scratch. Any sleeping bag can be dyed into another color, and the pack has dye recipes for every color, such as Blue Sleeping Bag.[1][3]

Crafting Shapeless

  • Sleeping Bag White or Sleeping Bag Orange or Sleeping Bag Magenta or Sleeping Bag Light Blue or Sleeping Bag Yellow or Sleeping Bag Lime or Sleeping Bag Pink or Sleeping Bag Gray or Sleeping Bag Light Gray or Sleeping Bag Cyan or Purple Sleeping Bag or Sleeping Bag Brown or Green Sleeping Bag or Red Sleeping Bag or Sleeping Bag Black

Next: make a Rope and Nail

Next, craft the Rope and Nail. Its tooltip says it's used for placing hammocks, so make it before you try to set one up.[3][4]

The pack has a crafting recipe for the Rope and Nail.

Then: make a hammock

Now craft hammock cloth, such as Red Hammock Cloth. A hammock is like an inverse bed: it turns day into night, while a sleeping bag is the on-the-go bed. The hammock's tooltip also notes that it requires another item to place.[1][3][4]

Again, every color has its own recipe in the pack.

Hammock cloth can be dyed into any other color too, and the pack includes a dye recipe for each color.[1][3]

  • Hammock White or Hammock Orange or Hammock Magenta or Hammock Light Blue or Hammock Yellow or Hammock Lime or Hammock Pink or Hammock Gray or Hammock Light Gray or Hammock Cyan or Hammock Purple or Hammock Brown or Green Hammock Cloth or Red Hammock Cloth or Black Hammock Cloth

How does Comforts work?

4 parts

Comforts is a small mod built around sleeping bags and hammocks. This section covers how they behave and which settings the mod exposes for them.[1]

Sleeping bags and hammocks

Both items can be used just like beds, except they do not set your spawn point on use. That keeps your spawn safely at your home base while you sleep on adventures. They come in 16 colors, just like beds.[1]

Sleeping bags are the portable option, and they can be stacked. Hammocks are like an inverse bed: they turn day into night.[1]

Using a sleeping bag

The sleeping bag tooltip tells you it automatically attempts to sleep, and that you place it by using it while crouching. The autoUse option controls the automatic part: when it is on, you try to sleep as soon as the bag is placed.[4]

Tip: If your sleeping bag does not seem to place, crouch first and then use it. That is the placement method the item tooltip describes.[4]

Use Red Sleeping Bag or any other color the same way. You can also dye any sleeping bag into another color, and the pack has a dye recipe for each of the 16 colors, for example Blue Sleeping Bag.[1][3]

Placing a hammock

Hammocks are a little more involved. The hammock tooltip says it requires something else in order to be placed, and the rope and nail item is described as being used for placing hammocks. The hammock cloth itself, such as Green Hammock Cloth, can also be dyed into any other color.[1][3][4]

Crafting Shaped

Each hammock cloth color has its own crafting recipe in the pack, and there is also a dye recipe for each color.

What the settings control

The mod lists these configuration options on its project page: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The in-game descriptions explain what the individual settings do.[1][4]

  • sleepingBagUse and hammockUse set the time of day when each item can be used.[4]
  • sleepingBagsStopPhantoms and hammocksStopPhantoms, when enabled, mean that attempting to sleep in that item stops phantoms from spawning.[4]
  • restrictSleeping stops you from sleeping again for a period after you sleep. When it is on, restMultiplier sets the length of the wait, and larger numbers let you sleep sooner.[4]
  • sleepingBagBreakChance is the percentage chance that a sleeping bag breaks on use. sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier is multiplied by your luck and then added to that chance.[4]
  • sleepingBagEffects lists the status effects applied after you use a sleeping bag, in the format effect;duration(secs);power.[4]
  • daySleepingPercentage sets what percentage of players must sleep to skip the day. A value of 0 lets one player skip it, 100 requires everyone, and anything below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule.[4]
  • dayWakeTimeOffset and nightWakeTimeOffset add or remove ticks from the new time after you sleep through a night or a day respectively.[4]
  • enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes toggle the default recipes for each item.[4]

Unverified No config files for Comforts are included in the pack sources, so the values this pack uses for these options, and whether it changes any of them, are unconfirmed. Check the in-game config screen for the actual values.

How do you progress through Comforts?

2 parts

Comforts has no tier ladder in this pack's sources, so there is no progression path to follow here. What the recipes do show is a small set of items you can craft: the Rope and Nail, hammock cloths and sleeping bags. All of them are crafting recipes.[3]

What changed in Comforts between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Comforts 15.0.0+26.1.2. The pack first included Comforts in 0.1.2 or earlier.[5]

Comforts 15.0.0+26.1.2

This is the version in the pack right now, released on 2026.06.21. The changelog available here only covers this latest release, so older mod versions aren't detailed.[6]

  • Added: a comforts:sleep_schedule timeline with time markers.[6]
  • The comforts:wake_up_from_sleep marker sets when you wake up after sleeping through the night. If it's unused, Comforts defers to vanilla behavior.[6]
  • The comforts:wake_up_from_nap marker sets when you wake up after sleeping through the day.[6]
  • Changed: updated to Minecraft 26.1.2.[6]

Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for Comforts, so any changes to this mod between pack releases are not shown. Check the pack's own changelogs for that detail.
