What is Comforts?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks to the game. You use them like beds, but they never set your spawn point, so your respawn stays safely at your home base. Both come in 16 colors, and you can dye any sleeping bag or hammock cloth into any other color.[1]
Sleeping bags
Sleeping bags are the portable option. They stack and are more convenient to carry on adventures, which makes them handy for skipping the night when you're far from home and don't want to move your spawn.[1]
Hammocks
Hammocks work like an inverse bed: they turn day into night. Building one takes a bit more than crafting the cloth, so the mod author's hammock building guide is worth a look before you start.[1]
Who it's for
If you travel a lot, explore far from base, or run long mining and exploration trips, this mod is for you. It lets you sleep through the night without risking your carefully placed spawn point.[1]
In this pack
The pack ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1 for NeoForge. It has been in the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[2]
The mod has several config options: Auto-Use Sleeping Bag, Well-Rested Mechanic, Sleepiness Factor, Hammocks at Night, Sleeping Bag Break Chance, Sleeping Bag Debuffs, and Insulated Sleeping Bags. The sources I have don't show whether the pack changes any of their defaults, so check the config in your own instance before relying on specific behavior.[1]
Unverified No quests in this pack were found for Comforts, and it does not appear on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional quality-of-life mod rather than a progression step.
How do you get started with Comforts?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Comforts adds sleeping bags and hammocks. You use them like beds, except they do not set your spawn point on use, so your spawn point stays safe at your home base. Both come in 16 colors.[1]
Pick your first item
- Sleeping bag: the portable option. Sleeping bags can be stacked, so they are handy to carry on adventures.[1]
- Hammock: works like an inverse bed and turns day into night. It needs a bit more setup than a sleeping bag.[1]
Place and use a sleeping bag
To place a sleeping bag, use it while crouching. Its tooltip also says it automatically attempts to sleep. That lines up with the auto-use option, which makes players try to sleep as soon as a bag is placed.[3]
Set up a hammock
Hammocks are built from hammock cloth, for example White Hammock Cloth. You also need a rope and nail, whose tooltip says it is used for placing hammocks. The mod's own wiki has a guide on building a hammock.[1][3][4]
Recolor your gear
You can dye any hammock cloth into any of the other colors, and sleeping bags can be recolored the same way. The hammock cloth dye recipes are changed by the pack. Here is the blue one as an example, and the other colors follow the same pattern.[1][4]
This dye recipe for hammock cloth is marked as changed by the pack.
How does Comforts work?
5 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Comforts has no machines, power or fluids to manage. It adds sleeping bags and hammocks, and this section covers how they work. Both behave like beds, except they never set your spawn point, so your spawn stays safe at your home base.[1]
Sleeping bags vs. hammocks
- Sleeping bags are the portable option for adventures, and they can be stacked.[1]
- Hammocks work like an inverse bed, turning day into night.[1]
- Both come in 16 colors.[1]
Placing and using a sleeping bag
The sleeping bag tooltip tells you to place it by using it while crouching. It also says the bag automatically attempts to sleep. That comes from an option that makes players automatically try to use a sleeping bag when it is placed.[3]
Placing a hammock
Hammocks need more setup than sleeping bags. The rope and nail item is used for placing hammocks, and the hammock's own tooltip lists a placement requirement.[3]
Unverified The mod's own documentation has a building guide for hammocks. The sources here do not show its contents, so the exact build layout is not confirmed.
Dyeing hammock cloth
You can dye any hammock cloth into any of the other colors. In this pack the dye recipes are shapeless crafting recipes, and the dump marks them as changed by the pack. Here is the one for Black Hammock Cloth as an example. The other colors follow the same pattern.[1][4]
This is the pack's version of the recipe, which the pack changed from the mod's own.
What the mod's options control
Comforts has a number of options that change how sleeping works. Here is what each one does.[3]
Unverified The pack has no config files for this mod in the sources here, so the values it actually uses for these options are not shown.
- daySleepingPercentage sets what percentage of players must sleep to skip the day. A value of 0 lets one player skip it, and 100 requires everyone. A value below 0 falls back to the playerSleepingPercentage game rule.[3]
- hammockUse and sleepingBagUse set the time of day when each item can be used.[3]
- dayWakeTimeOffset and nightWakeTimeOffset add or remove ticks from the new time after you sleep through a night or a day, respectively.[3]
- restrictSleeping stops you from sleeping again for a while after sleeping, and restMultiplier sets the wait time. Larger numbers let you sleep sooner.[3]
- hammocksStopPhantoms and sleepingBagsStopPhantoms make attempting to sleep in each item stop phantoms from spawning.[3]
- sleepingBagBreakChance is the percentage chance that a sleeping bag breaks on use. sleepingBagBreakChanceLuckMultiplier is multiplied by your luck and then added to that chance.[3]
- sleepingBagEffects sets the status effects applied after using a sleeping bag, in the format effect;duration(secs);power.[3]
- enableHammockRecipes and enableSleepingBagRecipes turn the default recipes for each item on or off.[3]
How do you progress through Comforts?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
The sources here show no tier ladder for Comforts in this pack. The only progression-style step they confirm is recolouring, so this section stays short.[4]
Recolouring
Hammock cloths, like Black Hammock Cloth, have a dye recipe for each color. The sleeping bag recipes shown, like Black Sleeping Bag, follow the same pattern. They are shapeless crafting recipes, so the layout in the grid doesn't matter. The recipe dump marks them as changed by the pack, so don't assume they match the mod's defaults.[4]
Here is one example for a hammock cloth and one for a sleeping bag. The other colors follow the same pattern.[4]

Sleeping bag recolouring, a shapeless recipe changed by the pack.
What changed in Comforts between versions?
1 part
All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Comforts 9.0.5+1.21.1. The mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier, so you've had it for a long time.[5]
Recent Comforts releases
- 9.0.5+1.21.1 (2026.01.23): fixed the nightWakeTimeOffset configuration option conflicting with mods that increment ticks while sleeping. This is the version in the pack right now.[5][6]
- 9.0.4+1.21.1 (2025.05.23): translation updates only, covering the ru_ru, ko_kr, ja_jp, es_es and es_ar localizations.[7]
Both of these changelogs are copies for a single release, so I can't tell you what changed in older Comforts versions from what I have here.[6][7]
