What is Apothic Attributes?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

This pack ships Apothic Attributes 2.10.1, using the file ApothicAttributes-1.21.1-2.10.1.jar. It was first included in version 0.32 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[1]

Unverified No guidebook or platform description for Apothic Attributes was available when this guide was written, so what the mod adds in this pack is unconfirmed here. Check the other sections of this guide for any details that could be confirmed.

How do you get started with Apothic Attributes?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

This mod is about stats. It adds extra attributes on top of the vanilla ones, plus a few status effects. For this pack, I can't confirm a first item to craft or a quest that introduces it, so this section is a short tour of what you will see in-game.[2]

Stats worth learning first

  • Crit Chance is the chance any damage you deal critically strikes. Crit Damage is the multiplier for those hits, and it includes vanilla jump crits.[2]
  • Dodge Chance is the chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile.[2]
  • Life Steal heals you for a percentage of post-mitigation damage. Overheal turns a percentage of that damage into an absorption shield instead.[2]
  • Mining Speed is how fast you mine blocks compared to normal, and Draw Speed is how fast you draw bows, crossbows or tridents.[2]
  • Experience Gained is a multiplier on the experience you get from breaking blocks and killing mobs.[2]

Damage and armor stats

Fire Damage and Cold Damage add bonus magic damage to melee attacks. Fire burns the enemy, and cold slows them. Current HP Damage adds bonus physical damage based on the target's health.[2]

Armor Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's armor value, while Armor Shred is a percentage reduction. Prot Pierce and Prot Shred do the same to the target's protection point total. On the defensive side, Armor Toughness reduces the effectiveness of enemy armor reduction.[2]

Tip: Arrow Damage also covers tridents, because the mod counts tridents as arrows. Arrow Velocity matters too, since arrow damage scales with velocity.[2]

Effects you may run into

Bleeding inflicts damage every two seconds. Sundering increases the damage the affected target receives. Flaming Detonation deals damage on expiry, based on the fire ticks remaining.[2]

The mod also has a button labelled Hide Unchanged Attributes. It's handy for cutting down the list of stats to the ones that differ from normal.[2]

Unverified No crafting recipes, quests or config options for this mod could be confirmed for this pack, so there is no verified first item to make.

How does Apothic Attributes work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

Apothic Attributes does not add machines, multiblocks or power systems. It works through stats (attributes) on you and on the things you fight, plus a handful of status effects. The mod's own descriptions are the best guide to what each stat does, so here is how they group together.[2]

Offense: critical hits and bonus damage

  • Crit Chance is the chance that any damage you deal critically strikes, and the extra damage is based on your Crit Damage. Crit Damage is a multiplier for critical hits, including vanilla jump crits.[2]
  • Cold Damage adds bonus magic damage on melee attacks and slows enemies hit. Fire Damage also adds bonus magic damage on melee attacks, and it burns enemies hit.[2]
  • Current HP Damage adds bonus physical damage on melee attacks, based on the target's health.[2]
  • Life Steal heals you for a percentage of post-mitigation damage. Overheal turns a percentage of post-mitigation damage into an absorption shield instead.[2]

Getting past armor

Some attributes weaken the target's defenses. Armor Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's armor value, and Armor Shred is a percentage reduction to it. Protection Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's protection point total, and Protection Shred is a percentage reduction to that total.[2]

On the defensive side, the vanilla armor attribute increases physical damage reduction, and armor toughness reduces the effectiveness of enemy armor reduction. Dodge Chance gives you a chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile. Knockback resistance is how much knockback you ignore.[2]

Ranged combat

  • Arrow Damage is a damage multiplier for arrows, and tridents count as arrows.[2]
  • Arrow Velocity is a speed multiplier for arrows, and arrow damage scales with velocity.[2]
  • Projectile Damage is a damage multiplier for all outgoing projectiles.[2]
  • Draw Speed controls how fast you draw ranged weapons such as bows, crossbows or tridents.[2]

Utility attributes

  • Mining Speed is how fast you mine blocks compared to normal.[2]
  • Experience Gained multiplies the experience you get from breaking blocks and killing mobs.[2]
  • Healing Received multiplies all incoming healing.[2]
  • Cooldown Reduction reduces the cooldown of triggered abilities and effects.[2]
  • Creative Flight lets you fly as if in Creative Mode, and Elytra Flight lets you fly as if wearing an Elytra.[2]

The mod also adds descriptions for vanilla and loader attributes, such as attack damage, attack speed, max health, movement speed and luck, plus block reach and entity reach. The block and entity reach descriptions are both given in blocks.[2]

Status effects and potions

  • Bleeding inflicts damage every two seconds.[2]
  • Flaming Detonation inflicts damage on expiry, based on the remaining fire ticks.[2]
  • Sundering increases the damage the target receives.[2]
  • The mod also defines Flying, Grievous Wounds, Ancient Knowledge and Bursting Vitality. In potion form, Grievous Wounds shows up as Healing Reduction and Bursting Vitality as Healing Boost.[2]

Flying, Healing Reduction, Ancient Knowledge, Sundering and Healing Boost each have potion, splash potion, lingering potion and tipped arrow names. The language file does not say how any of them are obtained.[2]

Reading the stats screen

The mod adds a button labelled Hide Unchanged Attributes, which helps you trim down the attribute list.[2]

When one of these damage types kills you, the death message tells you which one did it. There are separate messages for bleeding, cold, current HP damage, detonation and fire, each with versions for a killer using an item or a player.[2]

Which Apothic Attributes config options matter?

3 parts

The settings most players will care about live in config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg. Every enchantment listed there gets the same four options: Max Level, Max Loot Level, Max Power Function and Min Power Function. The two level options can be set anywhere from 1 to 127.[3]

The one value the pack changed

Only Endless Quiver is flagged as changed by the pack in the part of the file shown to me. Its [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#apothic_enchanting:endless_quiver.Max Level]] is 9 here, where the mod default is 1. Its [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#apothic_enchanting:endless_quiver.Max Loot Level]] is 5, also up from a mod default of 1.[3]

Raised level caps

Plenty of other enchantments sit well above their original level. The file's comments record the original number, and the mod default listed for each of these matches the value in the pack, so the pack doesn't mark them as changed. In every example below, Max Loot Level, the cap for levels from loot sources, stays at the original number.[3]

  • Sharpness: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:sharpness.Max Level]] is 9 (originally 5), with [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:sharpness.Max Loot Level]] at 5.[3]
  • Efficiency: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:efficiency.Max Level]] is 9 (originally 5), with loot capped at 5.[3]
  • Fortune: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:fortune.Max Level]] is 8 (originally 3), with loot capped at 3.[3]
  • Looting: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:looting.Max Level]] is 8 (originally 3), with loot capped at 3.[3]
  • Protection: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:protection.Max Level]] is 8 (originally 4), with loot capped at 4.[3]
  • Feather Falling: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:feather_falling.Max Level]] is 11 (originally 4), with loot capped at 4.[3]
  • Projectile Protection: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:projectile_protection.Max Level]] is 11 (originally 4), with loot capped at 4.[3]
  • Ars Nouveau enchantments are raised too: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#ars_nouveau:mana_boost.Max Level]] and [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#ars_nouveau:mana_regen.Max Level]] are both 7 (originally 3), and [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#ars_nouveau:reactive.Max Level]] is 8 (originally 4).[3]

Single-level enchantments such as Mending ([[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:mending.Max Level]]) and Silk Touch ([[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:silk_touch.Max Level]]) stay at 1.[3]

Power functions

Max Power Function and Min Power Function let you set the enchanting power an enchantment needs, using a formula where "x" is the level. For every enchantment shown in the file, the pack leaves both empty, which is the same as the mod default. Sharpness is one example: [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:sharpness.Max Power Function]] and [[config:config/apothic_attributes/enchantments.cfg#minecraft:sharpness.Min Power Function]] are both blank.[3]

Unverified The pack also has config/apothic_attributes/apothic_attributes.cfg and config/apothic_attributes/apothic_enchanting.cfg for this mod. The sources here do not show their values, so check those files in the pack for their settings.
