Apothic Attributes is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 3.1.0. A library that adds the Attributes GUI, alongside a suite of new attributes to work with (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

Stuck? Why it might not be working

  • Apothic Attributes: 100 armour and you still get one-shot
In All the Mods 10 8.2 and five other packs, Apothic Attributes replaces the game's armour formula outright and armour no longer has a floor: at 100 armour you take 9% of a 10-damage hit and 67% of a 400-damage hit, where the old rule held you at 20% of anything. Armor Toughness stops reducing damage at all. Nothing in the game states the formula, and the one line about toughness reads as reassurance.

What is Apothic Attributes?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

This pack ships Apothic Attributes 2.10.1, using the file ApothicAttributes-1.21.1-2.10.1.jar. It was first included in version 0.32 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[1]

Unverified No guidebook or platform description for Apothic Attributes was available when this guide was written, so what the mod adds in this pack is unconfirmed here. Check the other sections of this guide for any details that could be confirmed.

How do you get started with Apothic Attributes?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Apothic Attributes works differently from most mods you'll meet in the pack. The sources I have don't show a craft-this-first item or a recipe chain. What they do show is the stat descriptions the mod adds, so the best first step is learning what those stats mean when you see them on gear.[2]

Stats worth recognizing first

  • Crit Chance is the chance that any damage you deal critically strikes. Crit Damage is the multiplier on those hits, and it includes vanilla jump crits.[2]
  • Life Steal heals you for a percentage of post-mitigation damage. Overheal turns a percentage of that same damage into an absorption shield.[2]
  • Dodge Chance gives you a chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile.[2]
  • Armor Pierce is a flat reduction to the target's armor value, and Armor Shred is a percentage reduction. Prot Pierce and Prot Shred do the same to the target's protection point total.[2]
  • For ranged builds, Draw Speed controls how fast you draw bows, crossbows or tridents. Arrow Damage and Arrow Velocity are multipliers, and arrow damage scales with velocity. Tridents count as arrows.[2]
  • Fire Damage and Cold Damage add bonus magic damage on melee attacks. Fire burns the enemies you hit, and Cold slows them.[2]
  • Creative Flight and Elytra Flight describe whether you can fly as if in Creative Mode or as if wearing an Elytra.[2]

Effects you may run into

The mod also adds its own status effects. Bleeding inflicts damage every two seconds. Sundering increases the damage the affected target receives. Detonation inflicts damage on expiry, based on the remaining fire ticks.[2]

The mod also provides descriptions for many vanilla attributes, such as attack damage, attack speed, armor toughness, luck and max health.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show any recipes that produce this mod's items, and they show no quests in this pack that involve the mod, so there is no verified first item to craft.

How does Apothic Attributes work?

5 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Apothic Attributes doesn't work like a machine mod. The only material available for this pack describes attributes and status effects, with no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. So this section covers the stat and effect mechanics the mod's in-game descriptions explain.[2]

Unverified The pack's actual attribute values, defaults and any config changes for this mod could not be confirmed. No config files or recipes were available, so the numbers behind these stats are not covered here.

Offensive attributes

Crit Chance is the chance that any damage you deal is a critical strike. A crit deals extra damage based on your Crit Damage, which is a multiplier on critical hits and includes vanilla jump crits.[2]

  • Armor Pierce: a flat reduction to the target's armor value.[2]
  • Armor Shred: a percentage reduction to the target's armor value.[2]
  • Prot Pierce: a flat reduction to the target's protection point total.[2]
  • Prot Shred: a percentage reduction to the target's protection point total.[2]
  • Current HP Damage: bonus physical damage on melee attacks, based on the target's health.[2]
  • Fire Damage: bonus magic damage on melee attacks that also burns enemies you hit.[2]
  • Cold Damage: bonus magic damage on melee attacks that also slows enemies you hit.[2]

Ranged attributes

  • Arrow Damage: a damage multiplier for arrows. Tridents count as arrows here.[2]
  • Arrow Velocity: a speed multiplier for arrows. Arrow damage scales with velocity, so this also raises damage.[2]
  • Projectile Damage: a damage multiplier for all outgoing projectiles.[2]
  • Draw Speed: how fast you draw ranged weapons such as bows, crossbows or tridents.[2]

Defense and sustain

Dodge Chance gives you a chance to dodge a melee attack or a projectile. Life Steal heals you for a percentage of your post-mitigation damage. Overheal also works from post-mitigation damage, but it grants an absorption shield instead of healing.[2]

Healing Received is a multiplier on all incoming healing. Cooldown Reduction shortens the cooldown of triggered abilities and effects, and cooldowns are shown with the ⌛ symbol.[2]

Utility and movement

  • Creative Flight: whether you can fly as if in Creative Mode.[2]
  • Elytra Flight: whether you can fly as if wearing an Elytra.[2]
  • Experience Gained: a multiplier on the experience you get from breaking blocks and killing mobs.[2]

The mod also writes descriptions for many vanilla attributes, such as attack speed (how many fully charged attacks you can make per second), step height (how many blocks you can step up without jumping) and block interaction range (how far you can interact with blocks, in blocks). Gravity is described in blocks/s², and attack knockback is measured in half-blocks.[2]

Status effects

  • Bleeding: inflicts damage every two seconds.[2]
  • Detonation: when it expires, it inflicts damage based on the remaining fire ticks.[2]
  • Sundering: increases the damage the affected target receives.[2]
Tip: Fire Damage and Detonation fit together. Detonation's damage depends on the remaining fire ticks, and Fire Damage burns enemies you hit. The sources don't say whether the two interact directly in this pack, so test it yourself.[2]

How do you progress through Apothic Attributes?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide

I can't lay out a tier-by-tier path for this mod from the pack's data, so this section stays short. What the mod's own data files do show is how it groups damage types and attributes, and that is worth knowing when you start tuning builds.[3][4][5]

How the mod groups damage and attributes

  • Damage that can't crit: the cannot_critically_strike damage type tag lists the apothic_attributes:current_hp_damage damage type and everything in the bypasses_invulnerability tag.[4]
  • Non-physical damage: the is_non_physical tag covers the magic, poison, wither, fire, explosion, lightning and freezing damage groups.[5]
  • Dynamic base attributes: the dynamic_base attribute tag simply points to the puffish_attributes:dynamic tag.[3]

These tags come from the mod's own jar in this version. The sources don't show the pack changing them.[3][4][5]

What changed in Apothic Attributes between versions?

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Apothic Attributes 3.1.0. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or an earlier release, so this is not a new addition in 1.1.0.[6]

Unverified The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, and the sources here do not show what the 3.1.0 release changed. Those details live in the mod's own changelog for 3.1.0, which is not reproduced in the sources for this guide, so there is no list of changes to give you yet.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as apothic_attributes, attributeslib, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
