What is Mining Gadgets?

Same as in the All the Mods - Gravitas 4.0 guide

Mining Gadgets is included in this pack at version 1.11.1. That is the version you'll be playing with.[1]

I can only confirm that the mod is installed. The pack's sources don't say what it does in this pack, who it's meant for, or where it fits in progression, so I'm not going to guess at any of that.[1]

Unverified No quests, ATM Star path entries, recipe changes or config changes for Mining Gadgets could be confirmed from the available sources. Check in-game, for example in the recipe viewer, before relying on any specific behavior. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How do you get started with Mining Gadgets?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Mining Gadgets adds a handheld mining tool that you improve with upgrade modules. In this pack there are three versions of the tool: Mining Gadget MK1 (MK1), Mining Gadget MK2 (MK2) and Mining Gadget MK3 (MK3). Each one has its own crafting recipe.[2]

Step 1: Craft a Mining Gadget

Start with the MK1 gadget. It is the first of the three versions and the one to build first. The recipe below is the exact one used in this pack.[2]

Recipe id: mininggadgets:mininggadget_simple

MK2 and MK3 have their own separate recipes, so you can look them up whenever you want to move up. The sources I have don't say how the three versions differ in stats, so I'm not going to guess.[2]

Step 2: Build the Modification Table

Next, make the Modification Table. This is where you fit upgrades to your gadget. The upgrade screen tells you to shift-click an upgrade from your inventory slots to insert it, or to drop it onto the screen. Click an installed upgrade to remove it.[2][3]

Step 3: Make Blank Upgrade Modules

The Blank Upgrade Module (Blank Upgrade Module) has a recipe added by the pack's own scripts, so use the one below. The sources don't show how the blank module relates to the other upgrade recipes.[2]

Step 4: Pick your first upgrades

The mod has many upgrades, and each has its own recipe. Examples are Upgrade: Efficiency, Tier 1, Upgrade: Magnet, Upgrade: Silk touch, Upgrade: Fortune, Tier 1, Upgrade: Battery, Tier 1 and Upgrade: Light Placer. There are also the three size upgrades (Upgrade: 3x3, Upgrade: 5x5 and Upgrade: 7x7) and three range upgrades (Upgrade: Range, Tier 1 to Upgrade: Range, Tier 3).[2]

Tip: Hold shift while looking at a gadget's tooltip to see which upgrades are installed. The tooltip also shows the per-block cost of mining with it.[3]

Unverified The sources don't list the ingredients for the gadgets, the table or the upgrades, and no quests in this pack involve this mod. I can't confirm the best upgrade order, the energy use of each gadget, or whether MK2 and MK3 need the earlier version. Check the recipe viewer in-game for the exact materials. This site does hold All the Mods 11's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Mining Gadgets work?

4 parts

The sources for Mining Gadgets show a handheld tool, a set of upgrades and one crafting block. They don't show any multiblocks, fluid handling or automation, so this section stays with what they do cover.[3]

The gadget

The tool comes in three versions: Mining Gadget MK1 (MK1), Mining Gadget MK2 (MK2) and Mining Gadget MK3 (MK3). Its tooltip shows a "Per Block Cost" number, which is what the gadget charges for each block it mines. Hold shift on the tooltip to see which upgrades are installed.[3]

Installing upgrades

Upgrades are managed at the Modification Table. Its screen tells you to shift click to insert an upgrade from your inventory slots, or to drop an upgrade onto the screen. Click an installed upgrade to remove it. If the gadget has nothing to show, the screen says "No Upgrades available".[3]

The table drops itself when you break it.[4]

Upgrade types

These are the upgrades the sources list. Their names are confirmed, but the sources don't give exact effects or numbers.[3][5]

The gadget screens also have a Precision Mode value. Another screen tooltip covers a freeze delay: by default one freeze particle spawns every tick, and adding more delay reduces the number of particles.[3]

Blank Upgrade Module

The pack changes this recipe. It removes the mod's own Blank Upgrade Module recipe and adds its own shaped recipe in its place, so use the one shown below.[5][6]

How do you progress through Mining Gadgets?

3 parts

Mining Gadgets gives you a handheld mining tool in three versions, plus a set of upgrade modules that you build up in tiers. Here is how the pieces stack up in this pack.[5]

The three gadgets

The gadget comes in three versions: Mining Gadget MK1, Mining Gadget MK2 and Mining Gadget MK3. The recipe blocks below show each one, and the pack has not changed them from the mod's own.[5]

Modification Table and Blank Upgrade Modules

The Modification Table is crafted like any other block, and it drops itself when broken.[4][5]

The pack changes the recipe for the Blank Upgrade Module. The mod's original recipe is removed and a KubeJS recipe takes its place, so what you see below is the pack's version and not the mod default.[5][6]

Upgrade tiers

Most upgrades come in several tiers, and each tier is its own item with its own recipe. Here is what the pack contains:[5]

Upgrade: Freezing, Upgrade: Light Placer, Upgrade: Magnet, Upgrade: Silk touch and Upgrade: Void Junk each come as a single item with no tiers. Apart from the Blank Upgrade Module, the upgrade recipes are the mod's own.[5][6]

Tip: Check each tier's recipe in the recipe viewer before you plan a build. The Blank Upgrade Module is the one recipe the pack changed, so guides written for the mod's default recipe will not match it.[5][6]
