What is Silent's Gems?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Silent's Gems is the mod for colorful gemstones and building blocks. It adds 16 gemstones, and you can craft them into gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack includes version 5.1.3.[1][2]
If you love building, this one is for you. It gives you a lot of new colors to work with, and the gems can also become tools and armor when Silent Gear is installed. Silent Gear is what you need for gem tools and armor, and Silent Lib is required for the mod itself.[1]
Where the gems come from
The gems are spread across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can occasionally turn up in the overworld. The mod lets you configure which gems generate in which dimension and how often, and you can even disable specific gems. I can't confirm from the sources whether the pack changes any of those defaults.[1]
Black Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less often than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White Diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around. Both are strong in all stats but much harder to find.[1]
Gem roles
If you use the gems for Silent Gear tools and armor, each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats, and every gem still has unique traits.[1]
- Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. They are good for repairs and area-of-effect harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
- Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. They are good for harvest tools.[1]
- Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. They are good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
- Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
- All-Rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite and Black/White Diamond. They are above average in most stats.[1]
Handy extras
- Gem Bag: collects and stores gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. It doesn't apply to ores.[1]
- Glowrose: a light-emitting flower that spawns naturally. Its light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away (configurable), and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
- Flower Basket: works like the Gem Bag, but collects flowers you mine.[1]
- Summon Kitty and Summon Puppy: spawn a tamed cat or dog, which you can name in an anvil.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show where Silent's Gems fits in the pack's progression, and no quests involving it were found. Whether Silent Gear is also in the pack, which you need for gem tools and armor, is not confirmed here either.
How do you get started with Silent's Gems?
3 parts
Silent's Gems adds 16 gemstones and a big set of building blocks made from them. The first job is finding gems, then turning them into blocks and decorations. Here is the order I'd go in.[1]
Step by step
- Go mining for gems. They are split across the three vanilla dimensions and overlap a bit, so some Nether and End gems can turn up in the Overworld. There is one gem ore block that matches all three dimensions.[1]
- Grab a Gem Bag if you can. It collects and stores gems as you mine them (not from ores), which frees up inventory space for more mining.[1]
- Craft gem blocks. Each gem has its own block recipe in the pack.[3]
- Make the decorative blocks: glass, lamps and chiseled variants. Each gem has its own recipe for each of these.[1][3]
Recipes to start with
I'm using garnet as the example. Every gem in the list has its own matching recipes, so swap in whichever gem you found. First, the gem block: Garnet Block.[3]
This is the recipe that crafts the garnet block.
Next, gem glass: Garnet Glass.[1][3]

Good to know early
Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally in the world, and their light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away. You can plant them in vanilla flower pots, and potted glowroses give off much more light than freestanding ones. Sparkling bone meal grows glowroses when you use it on grass.[1][4]
If you want tools or armor from your gems, you need Silent Gear. The mod's own page says it is required for that, and Silent Lib must be installed as well.[1]
How does Silent's Gems work?
6 parts
Silent's Gems is described as a mod that adds many colorful gemstones and building blocks, so this section is about gems, collecting them and the blocks you make from them. Here is everything the sources explain about how it works.[1]
Gems and where they generate
The mod adds 16 gemstones, split across the three vanilla dimensions with some overlap. Some gems from the Nether and the End can occasionally show up in the overworld. There is also a gem ore block that matches all three dimensions.[1]
Black diamonds spawn somewhat low in the Nether and less frequently than other gems, so you should find plenty while digging for ancient debris. White diamonds spawn somewhat low in the End, so you'll need to dig around for them. A hammer and a prospector hammer from Silent Gear make the hunt much easier.[1]
By default the mod lets you generate any gem in any dimension, at whatever frequency you like, or disable specific gems entirely.[1]
Unverified Gem generation is controlled in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show whether this pack changes any of those values.
Gem roles
Each gem fits a role. Gems are usually stronger in their role's stats and equal to other gems of the same dimension in other stats, at least with default ore configs. Every gem still has unique traits. Tools and armor made from these gems need Silent Gear.[1]
- Durability: Ruby and Carnelian. Good for repairs and area-harvest tools like the hammer and excavator.[1]
- Speed: Topaz, Citrine and Heliodor. Good for harvest tools like pickaxes, shovels and axes.[1]
- Damage: Peridot, Moldavite and Rose Quartz. Good for weapons like swords and bows.[1]
- Armor: Sapphire, Iolite and Ammolite.[1]
- All-rounder: Turquoise, Kyanite, Alexandrite, and Black and White Diamond. The two diamond variants are notably strong in all stats, but much harder to find.[1]
Traits add extra effects on top of the stats. A few examples: Hasty increases mining speed, Leaping gives jump boost and slow falling, and Cloaking grants invisibility at the cost of hunger.[4]
Collecting while you mine
- Gem Bags collect and store gems as you mine them, which frees up your inventory. This does not apply to ores.[1]
- The Flower Basket works like a Gem Bag, but whenever you mine flowers they get collected into the basket.[1]
Glowroses
Glowroses are light-emitting flowers that spawn naturally throughout the world. Their light is enough to prevent mob spawns just two blocks away, and the mod makes that configurable. Plant them in vanilla flower pots, because potted glowroses create much more light than freestanding ones.[1]
Sparkling bone meal grows glowroses when used on grass.[4]
Handy utility items
- Summon Kitty spawns a tamed cat, described as a much less annoying way to get cats. You can name it in an anvil, just like spawn eggs.[1][4]
- Summon Puppy spawns a tamed dog, for when you have trouble finding those pesky wolves. You can name it in an anvil too.[1][4]
Building blocks, lamps and teleporters
The mod's common building blocks include gem blocks, bricks, small bricks, polished, chiseled and smooth gem stones, glass and lamps. The pack's recipe list shows the gems I can see, such as alexandrite, ammolite, aquamarine, black diamond and carnelian, each with its own block, bricks, small bricks, tiles, glass and lamp recipes. Most of them also have a teleporter, a redstone teleporter and an inverted-on lamp. As an example, here is the in-pack recipe for the Alexandrite Teleporter.[1][3]

How do you progress through Silent's Gems?
2 parts
The pack's recipe data for Silent's Gems shows what you can craft from each gem, so that is the useful part to plan around. It doesn't give a gear tier order, so this section sticks to what the in-pack recipes confirm.[3]
What each gem unlocks
Each gem gets the same set of crafted items. Take Carnelian as an example: there is a block, bricks, small bricks, tiles, glass, a lamp, an inverted lamp, a teleporter and a redstone teleporter. The recipe data shows this same set for alexandrite, ammolite, aquamarine, black diamond, carnelian, citrine, garnet, heliodor, iolite and kyanite.[3]
Blocks are reversible. A shaped recipe turns gems into a block such as Carnelian Block, and a separate shapeless recipe turns the block back into gems.[3]

Teleporters come in a normal form and a redstone form for each gem. The normal one is a shaped recipe and the redstone one is shapeless.[3]

Chiseled blocks and extras
Chiseled blocks have their own shaped recipes. They exist for the gems above and also for moldavite, opal, pearl, peridot, rose quartz, ruby, sapphire, tanzanite, topaz, turquoise and white diamond. An example is Chiseled Citrine.[3]

Some other crafted items show up in the recipe data as well. Chaos Essence is crafted from a Block of Chaos Essence with a shapeless recipe, and the block has its own shaped recipe. The Iron Potato is also craftable.[3]

What changed in Silent's Gems between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta ships Silent's Gems 5.1.4 (file silentgems-26.1.2-neoforge-5.1.4.jar). The mod has been in the pack since 0.0.23 or earlier, so this is the version you get in this release.[5]
Recent mod releases
- 26.1.2-5.1.4 (2026-05-17): ported to Minecraft 26.1.2 and Silent Gear 4.2+. This is the build the pack uses.[5][6]
- 26.1-5.1.4 (2026-03-28): ported to NeoForge 26.1. Glowrose patches were made a little less common, so expect to find them less often while exploring.[6]
The mod's own changelog gives no exact numbers for the glowrose change, so I can't tell you how much rarer the patches are.[6]
The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so there's nothing pack-specific to report beyond the mod's own release notes.[5]
