What is GeOre?

GeOre is part of the pack's mod list, and this pack ships version 8.0.6 of it. It has been in the pack since release 0.0.5 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]

How do you get started with GeOre?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

GeOre adds ore-themed items, and in this pack they are crafted in a regular crafting grid. Iron is a good ore to start with, because it has a spyglass, a tinted glass and a block recipe, so the recipes below use it as the example.[2]

Your first crafts

Start with the spyglass. Here is the in-pack recipe for the Iron GeOre Spyglass. Other ores follow the same naming pattern, such as Copper GeOre Spyglass or Diamond GeOre Spyglass.[2]

Which ores can generate?

The mod has an on/off option for each GeOre type. In the mod's own settings, the defaults are on for coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold, iron, lapis, quartz and redstone, and off for the modded ones such as allthemodium, tin, silver and zinc. These are the mod's listed defaults, not values confirmed for this pack.[3]

There is also a spyglass color overlay intensity option, with a mod default of 0.5, which means 50%.[3]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve GeOre and no in-jar guidebook was found for it, so the sources here do not show what the spyglass and tinted glass are used for, how GeOre blocks are found or grown in the world, or a recommended crafting order.

How does GeOre work?

4 parts

GeOre is built around geodes. The sources for this pack show geodes for many different materials, each with its own biome modifier that decides where it can generate. Here is what the data tells us about how those geodes are put together and where they spawn.[4][5][6][7]

How a geode is built

The allthemodium, aluminum and black quartz geode files all share one layout. The outer shell is smooth basalt, the middle layer is calcite, and the inner layer is a block of the material, for example Block Of Allthemodium GeOre or Block Of Aluminum GeOre. The hollow in the middle uses air as its filling.[8][9][10]

Some inner-layer positions use the budding variant instead, such as Budding Aluminum GeOre. That swap has a 0.083 chance (the use_alternate_layer0_chance value). The buds themselves are placed in this order: small bud, medium bud, large bud, then the cluster. The feature uses a 0.35 chance for potential placements and is set so that placements require the budding layer.[8][9][10]

The layer sizes are 1.7 for the filling, 2.2 for the inner layer, 3.2 for the middle layer and 4.2 for the outer layer. The crack has a 0.95 chance to generate. The files for the other geodes are not shown here, so treat this layout as confirmed only for those three.[8][9][10]

Where each geode generates

Every geode has its own biome modifier. Each one names an enabledConfig key and runs in the local_modifications step. Here is how they split up by dimension.[4][5][7]

  • Overworld biomes: aluminum, black quartz, coal, copper, diamond, emerald, gold and iron.[5][6][7][11][12][13][14][15]
  • More Overworld biomes: lapis, lead, monazite, nickel, osmium, platinum, quartz and redstone.[16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23]
  • Still more Overworld biomes: ruby, sapphire, silver, tin, topaz, tungsten, uraninite, uranium and zinc.[24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32]
  • Nether biomes: a second quartz geode modifier (separate from the Overworld one) and the vibranium geode.[33][34]
  • End biomes: the unobtainium geode.[35]
  • Deep Dark only: the allthemodium geode. GeOre's own biome tag for it contains just minecraft:deep_dark.[4][36]

Budding ancient debris works differently. It is not a geode but a scattered ore of size 1 that replaces netherrack in Nether biomes. Its discard chance on air exposure is 1.0.[37][38]

Unverified Each geode biome modifier points at an enabledConfig key, such as allthemodium or quartz_nether. The sources here do not include GeOre's config file for this pack, so whether those toggles are on or off, and any spawn rates beyond the geode data above, are not shown.

Getting budding blocks and shards

The pack adds its own recipes for several GeOre items. Budding blocks have In World Recipes entries (44 of them, covering 22 different results). Here is the one for budding aluminum.[39]

Shards have two pack-added routes. Energized Power has 29 crystal growth chamber recipes that make GeOre items, and Occultism has 22 rituals that do the same.[39]

How do you progress through GeOre?

      4 parts

The sources I have for this pack do not rank GeOre's ores into tiers, so I won't invent a tier order. What they do show is how each ore type moves from a budding block to a cluster, then to shards, then to crafted items. That chain is the practical progression, and the pack changes several steps of it.[39]

      Budding blocks

The pack adds 44 in-world recipes that make GeOre items, covering 22 different results. The ones written out are budding blocks, including Budding Aluminum GeOre, Budding Diamond GeOre, Budding Allthemodium GeOre, Budding Unobtainium GeOre and Budding Vibranium GeOre. They come from the In World Recipes mod. Several budding blocks, such as copper, platinum and tin, have more than one of these recipes.[39]

Breaking a budding block gives you nothing. The loot tables for budding allthemodium and budding aluminum have no drops at all, so don't expect to carry one off by mining it.[40][41]

      Clusters and what they drop

Silk Touch gets you the cluster block itself from the allthemodium, aluminum and ancient debris clusters. Without it, the allthemodium and ancient debris clusters each drop a flat 1 shard, and their loot tables list no Fortune bonus.[42][43][44]

Aluminum clusters pay out more. Mined with a tool in the cluster_max_harvestables tag, they drop 4 aluminum shards with a Fortune bonus applied. With any other tool they drop 2 shards, reduced by explosion decay.[39][43]

Unverified Cluster drops for the other ores live in loot table data files that the sources here do not show, so I can't tell you whether they match the three above.

      Making shards without mining

The pack gives you two machine routes to shards, and both are pack additions rather than mod defaults.[39]

      • Energized Power Crystal Growth Chamber: the pack adds 29 recipes, one for each shard type, including diamond, allthemodium, ancient debris and black quartz.[39]
      • Occultism rituals: the pack adds 22 rituals that use the crystalline infusion ritual dummy and produce GeOre shards, from coal and iron up to unobtainium and allthemodium.[39]

How does GeOre work with other mods?

        1 part

In this pack, the only link between GeOre and another mod that the recipes confirm is Occultism. The pack adds ritual recipes that produce GeOre shards, so you can get them through Occultism instead of only finding them in the world.[39]

Occultism rituals that make GeOre shards

Every GeOre shard has its own Occultism ritual recipe, and the pack added all of them. The recipe ids use the name "transumtation" (spelled that way in the ids), for example Iron GeOre Shard comes from occultism:iron_transumtation. They are all of the Occultism ritual type.[39]

The shards covered include the vanilla-style ones like Coal GeOre Shard, Diamond GeOre Shard and Emerald GeOre Shard. They also include common modded metals like Tin GeOre Shard, Zinc GeOre Shard and Osmium GeOre Shard. The rare ones are covered too: Allthemodium GeOre Shard, Vibranium GeOre Shard and Unobtainium GeOre Shard.[39]

Tip: Open the recipe viewer on any GeOre shard and look for the Occultism ritual entry. It shows the exact in-pack recipe for that shard.[39]
