What is In World Recipes?
2 parts
In World Recipes is a small utility mod that lets recipes happen out in the world, with no crafting grid involved. It provides the recipe types, and recipes written for those types do the actual work.[1]
What it can do
- Currently, the mod lets you drop an item into a fluid so it transforms into a different item. The recipe sets the fluid, the dropped item and its count, the result, and whether the fluid is consumed.[1]
- Right-click a block with a held item to turn that block into another block. The recipe can optionally damage the held item or consume it.[1]
- Right-click a block with a held item to turn the held item into a different item. The recipe can optionally damage or consume the held item, destroy the target block, and pop the result out as an item.[1]
The mod's project page describes these three recipe types as what it currently adds.[1]
In this pack
The pack includes In World Recipes 2.6.1. It has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier.[2]
How do you get started with In World Recipes?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide
Good news and a heads-up: In World Recipes isn't a mod where you craft a starter item and work up a tech tree. It's a recipe-type mod that lets recipes happen out in the world instead of in a crafting grid. So there's no first-item order to follow here, and what you need to learn is how to read these recipes.[1]
The mod adds three kinds of in-world recipe. Items can transform when you throw them into a fluid. A block can turn into another block when you use an item on it. And an item can turn into a different item when you use it on a block.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any quests or crafting recipes in this pack that involve this mod, so there are no recipe blocks or quest links to point you to. The example recipes on the mod's project page are samples of the format, and I can't confirm they exist in this pack.
How to read an in-world recipe
When you find one of these recipes in JEI, the mod's tooltips tell you what the recipe needs. Here's what each one means for you.[3]
- Required in world as a dropped item: the item has to be thrown on the ground, not just sitting in your inventory.[3]
- Required in Inventory: you need to be carrying the item when you do the recipe.[3]
- Consumes required dropped items or Consumes required items from inventory: the ingredients get used up, so don't try it with your only copy of something precious.[3]
- This block must be targeted: you have to aim at the right block when you use the item.[3]
- Must stand on this block: some recipes also care about what's under your feet.[3]
- Requires lightning to strike or Requires a certain weather: you may have to wait for the right conditions.[3]
- Replaces block with this block: the targeted block is swapped for a new one.[3]
- Any resulting items are placed in world: the results drop into the world instead of going straight to your inventory.[3]
- Ignores block states: the recipe doesn't care about the target block's state, only which block it is.[3]
How does In World Recipes work?
3 parts
In World Recipes currently adds recipes that happen out in the world, according to its project page: you click on a block, hold an item, throw something into a fluid, and the world reacts. The sources here describe only that recipe system. They show no machines, multiblocks, power or pipes for it, so this section covers how those recipes are built and what you will see in JEI.[1]
How a world recipe is built in this pack
The pack adds its in-world recipes through a KubeJS script, using the recipe type inworldrecipes:world_recipe. Each recipe is split into triggers, conditions, results and options. The project page shows different recipe types with their own layouts, such as right_click_on_block_transforms_block. For this pack, trust the script's layout.[1][4]
- Triggers say what you have to do. The pack uses two together: a click type of right_click and a block_target naming the block you must click.[4]
- Conditions are extra requirements. The pack uses a held_item condition, which needs a given item with a count of 1 in your hand.[4]
- Results say what happens. The pack uses a block_state result that turns the clicked block into minecraft:air, and a chance_results entry that gives an item with a set chance.[4]
- Options control display. The pack sets show_in_jei to true and only_visual_recipe to false, so the recipes appear in JEI and really work in the world.[4]
The pack's example: crystalline wands and budding blocks
The only in-world recipes shown in these sources are for harvesting budding blocks. You right-click a budding block while holding Crystalline Wand or Perfected Crystalline Wand. The block is removed (replaced with air) and you may get the budding block itself as an item.[4]
- With the crystalline wand, the chance of getting the budding block back is 0.5.[4]
- With the perfected crystalline wand, the chance is 1.0.[4]
- Both recipes set add_to_inventory to false in the result.[4]
The script generates this same pair of recipes for every block in its list. Most are GeOre budding blocks, from budding_copper and budding_iron through to budding_allthemodium, budding_vibranium and budding_unobtainium. The list also includes Flawless Budding Certus Quartz from Applied Energistics 2 and Budding Amethyst.[4]
The wands themselves are not made by this mod. The script defines them as KubeJS items and creates them with Occultism rituals that use the occultism:crystalline_infusion pentacle. The perfected wand's ritual uses the crystalline wand as its activation item, so you make the normal wand first.[4]
What JEI can tell you
The mod's own text shows which kinds of requirements and effects a recipe can display in JEI. These notes are worth reading before you try a recipe in the world.[5]
- Targeting: "This block must be targeted", or "This block tag must be targeted" followed by the tag name. There is also "Ignores block states" and "Must stand on this block".[5]
- Items you must have: "Required in Inventory" for inventory items, and "Required in world as a dropped item" for items thrown on the ground.[5]
- Things the recipe uses up: required items from your inventory, from dropped items, from the cauldron or from the fluid, and fluid level from the cauldron.[5]
- World conditions: "Requires lightning to strike" and "Requires %s as the weather", where the weather name is filled in by the game.[5]
- Outcomes: "Replaces block with this block" for block changes, and "Any resulting items are placed in world" for item results.[5]
The mod's project page also describes recipes where an item dropped into a fluid turns into another item. Its example turns 10 iron ingots dropped into water into 3 gold ingots, without using up the water. That is the page's sample, not a recipe the sources confirm for this pack.[1]
How do you progress through In World Recipes?
3 parts
In World Recipes doesn't have a tier ladder of its own in this pack, and the pack's quest book doesn't have a chapter for it. What you get instead is a short two-step progression, and it comes from a pack script. That script uses the mod's world recipes to let you pick up budding blocks with a wand, and there are two wands: a normal one and a perfected one.[4]
Tier 1: the crystalline wand
The first tier is the Crystalline Wand. You hold it, right click a budding block, and the block is removed from the world. You get that same budding block back with a chance of 0.5, so about half the time you walk away with it and half the time it's lost.[4]
The wand is crafted with an Occultism ritual, not at a crafting table. Here is the exact in-pack recipe.[4]
Ritual (occultism)
Recipe id: allthemods:crystalline_infusion/crystalline_wand
An Occultism ritual using the crystalline infusion pentacle, with a duration of 100.
Tier 2: the perfected crystalline wand
The second tier is the Perfected Crystalline Wand. It works exactly like the first wand, but the chance of getting the budding block back is 1.0, so the block always comes back. If you plan to move budding blocks around, this is the wand you want.[4]
It is also an Occultism ritual, and the crystalline wand is part of how it's started, so you have to build tier 1 first.[4]
Ritual (occultism)
Recipe id: allthemods:crystalline_infusion/perfect_crystalline_wand
The upgrade ritual, also on the crystalline infusion pentacle, with a duration of 100.
What the wands work on
Both wands use the same list of target blocks. It covers the GeOre budding blocks, for example Budding Copper GeOre, Budding Diamond GeOre and Budding Allthemodium GeOre. It also covers Flawless Budding Certus Quartz from Applied Energistics 2 and Budding Amethyst.[4]
What changed in In World Recipes between versions?
4 parts
In World Recipes is at version 2.6.1 in All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta, and it has been in the pack since 0.3.0-beta or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]
2.6.1 (the version in this pack)
- The cauldron was tweaked so powdered snow counts as a "fluid" for automatic triggering.[6]
2.5.1
- Fixed a bug in recipe matching where a recipe would work if only one condition was met.[7]
2.5.0
This update reworked how recipes are shown in JEI and changed how visual only recipes behave.[8]
- JEI was reworked to be clearer. All triggers, conditions and results are now listed under a single item instead of being spread out.[8]
- Visual only recipes are now truly visual only, and they never trigger any logic when an interaction occurs.[8]
- Held item tags now show that a tag is required, instead of showing a random item from the tag.[8]
- Stripped log recipes now show as visual only.[8]
2.4.4
- Fixed recipe matching with only one condition.[9]
- Fixed the BlockTarget StreamCodec not having property values.[9]
Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for this mod, so which pack release picked up each In World Recipes update is not shown. The pack's own changelogs would be the place to check.

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as inworldrecipes, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
