What is Structurize?

This pack includes Structurize at version 1.0.833-1.21.1-snapshot (file structurize-1.0.833-1.21.1-snapshot.jar). It has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 0.57 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified What Structurize does in this pack could not be confirmed from the available sources, so this page doesn't describe its features or recipes.

How do you get started with Structurize?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Structurize gives you a set of tools for placing and scanning blueprints, plus a few placeholder blocks. Every item below has a crafting recipe in this pack, so you can start right away. Here is the order I'd go in.[2]

Step one: the Build Tool

Start with the Build Tool. It's the tool the game refers to as the Buildtool when it positions a blueprint on the floor, and some blueprints, like Integrated Buildings or Mineshafts, are hidden from it. The pack uses the mod's own recipe for it.[2][3]

Once a preview is out, use the arrow buttons on the right (or your configured keys) to move it around. You can exit with Esc to reposition, then right click again to re-enter. If you place something you don't like, the list of recent operations lets you click the left arrow to undo and the right arrow to redo.[3]

Step two: the Scan Tool

Next, make the Scan Tool. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Its screen includes a placeholder filler function for the top parts of a schematic, which helps schematics fit more naturally into their environment.[2][3]

Step three: Shape Tool and Calipers

The Shape Tool also has a recipe changed by the pack. Its recipe id uses the minecolonies namespace, so look for that id if you search recipes. The Calipers uses the mod's own recipe.[2]

Step four: placeholder blocks

Last come three placeholder blocks: the Placeholder Block, the Solid Placeholder and the Fluid Placeholder. The pack changed the recipes for the Placeholder Block and the Solid Placeholder. The Fluid Placeholder uses the mod's own recipe.[2]

Unverified The sources here do not show exactly what the Shape Tool, the Calipers and the three placeholder blocks do in this pack. No in-game guidebook was found for the mod, and no quests in this pack involve it, so check these items in-game before relying on specific behavior.

How does Structurize work?

7 parts

Structurize is a building toolkit, and in this pack you mostly meet it through a handful of tools: one to scan structures, one to preview and place them, and some helper items for placeholders and measuring. The sources don't include a guidebook or config files for it, so this section sticks to what the in-game text and the data files in the jar tell us.[3]

Scanning with the Scan Tool

The Scan Tool saves two corner points, point one and point two, and scans the area between them. If you pick the same point twice it tells you so. When the scan works, it is saved under a name that starts with SCAN_.[3]

The tool also has an anchor position, which has to sit inside the scanned area. If it doesn't, you get a warning and have to move it with shift + right-click. There is also a size limit: if the schematic is too big, the tool reports a maximum allowed volume in blocks. The exact number isn't in the sources I have, so check the in-game message.[3]

Watch out: If the Scan Tool says its anchor position is outside the scanned area, the scan won't save until you move the anchor with shift + right-click.[3]

Previewing and placing with the Build Tool

The Build Tool shows a preview of a structure. You can move the preview with the arrow buttons on the right of the screen or with the configured keys. If you need to reposition, press esc and right-click again to re-enter the preview.[3]

Structurize adds its own key bindings in a Structurize category. You can rebind these in the controls menu:[3]

  • Mirror, rotate clockwise and rotate counter-clockwise for the preview.[3]
  • Move forward, back, left, right, up and down.[3]
  • Place Structure, to commit the preview.[3]
  • Scan Tool Teleport.[3]

Mistakes are not final. The undo and redo screen lists your recent operations: click the left arrow to undo and the right arrow to redo.[3]

Placement order

Structurize can place blocks in several different orders. Each one has its own tooltip in the game:[3]

  • Default: row by row block placement.[3]
  • Hilbert: mathematical proximity based block placement.[3]
  • Inward circle: placement in a circle, starting from the outside.[3]
  • Inward circle with height 1, 2, 3 or 4: the same circle placement, but outer rows are placed up to that many blocks higher.[3]
  • Random: blocks are placed in the x/z plane in a random order.[3]

Placeholders

There are three placeholder blocks: the Placeholder Block, the Solid Placeholder and the Fluid Placeholder. There is also a Tag Anchor Block and a Tag Tool in the language file. Each placeholder's recipe is shown below, with a note on whether the pack changed it.[3]

The Scan Tool also has a placeholder filler function for the top parts of a schematic, which makes schematics fit more naturally into their environment. It has four settings, and each tooltip gives an example:[3]

  • Block distance: the minimum distance placeholders stay away from existing blocks. It is additive, for example 2.[3]
  • Height offset: an offset to the y-limit placeholders generate until. It is additive, for example -1.[3]
  • Radius: grows or shrinks the excluded center circle. It is multiplicative, for example 0.5.[3]
  • Y stretch: grows or shrinks the height of the excluded center circle. It is multiplicative, for example 1.5.[3]

Block tags the pack ships

Structurize's data files sort blocks into tags. These are the ones whose contents the sources show:[5][6][7][8][9][10]

  • Good solid for placeholder: farmland and flooded farmland from MineColonies.[7]
  • Unsuitable solid for placeholder: leaves.[8]
  • Weak solid blocks: leaves, sand, red sand, gravel, the suspicious sand and gravel, the dragon egg, the anvil, chipped anvil and damaged anvil, and every colour of concrete powder.[9]
  • Substitution absorb whitelist (block entity types): chest, sign, lectern and the materially retexturable block from Domum Ornamentum.[5]
  • Tickable preview entities: armor stand, end crystal, block display, item display, text display, furnace minecart and ominous item spawner.[10]
  • The blueprint blacklist tag is empty in this pack.[6]

Blueprint tags

Blueprints can carry tags that change how the Build Tool treats them. The ground level tag is used by the Build Tool to position the blueprint on the floor. The invisible tag hides the blueprint in the Build Tool, as is done for things like integrated buildings or mineshafts.[3]

Measuring and shaping

The Calipers measures between two blocks and reports the result as the same block, a line, a square or a cube, with the size in blocks. The Shape Tool is also part of the toolset, and the pack changed its recipe.[3][4]

How do you progress through Structurize?

3 parts

Structurize is a building-support mod, and in the recipe data for this pack there is no tier ladder to climb. Every item that uses the mod's registry namespace is a plain shaped crafting recipe, so you can make any of them whenever you like.[4]

The tools

The Build Tool (Build Tool) uses the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[4]

Placeholder data worth knowing

The mod's data tags give a few hints about how placeholders behave. Leaves are listed as unsuitable solid blocks for a placeholder, while the MineColonies farmland and flooded farmland blocks are listed as good ones.[7][8]

The substitution absorb whitelist names these block entity types: chests, signs, lecterns and Domum Ornamentum materially retexturable blocks.[5]

How does Structurize work with other mods?

4 parts

Structurize connects to other mods mainly through one item: the Build Tool (Build Tool). In this pack's recipes it is a crafting ingredient across MineColonies, and it also appears in an Advanced Peripherals recipe.[4]

MineColonies

The Build Tool is the common thread with MineColonies: nearly every hut block recipe in the pack includes it, and so do utility items like the Clipboard, the Colony Map and the Quest Log. Here are the Town Hall and the Builder's Hut.[4]

Recipes the pack changed

Some of these Build Tool recipes are not the MineColonies defaults. The pack changed the recipes for the Rack, Barracks, Blacksmith's Hut, Crusher, Smeltery, Mechanic's Hut, Mystical Site, Plantation Field, Compost Barrel, Builder's Goggles and Spear.[4]

Tip: If you are following a MineColonies guide written for the default mod, check the recipe shown here before you gather materials. The ones listed above are pack versions.[4]

Advanced Peripherals

The Colony Integrator recipe is also changed by the pack. Next to the Peripheral Casing, it uses content from both Structurize and MineColonies, so you need those before you can make it. The exact recipe is below.[4]

Block and entity tags

Structurize's own data files also name blocks from other mods. Its tag for good solid blocks for placeholders lists MineColonies farmland and flooded farmland. Its substitution absorb whitelist for block entity types lists the vanilla chest, sign and lectern, plus the Domum Ornamentum materially retexturable block entity.[5][7]

What changed in Structurize between versions?

1 part

All the Mods 10 8.2 ships Structurize 1.0.833-1.21.1-snapshot. The mod has been in the pack since 0.57 or earlier, and it has been bumped in almost every release since. The pack changelogs only record which build changed, so that is what this page covers.[1][11]

Build updates by pack release

  • 2.36 to 2.47: Structurize moved from 1.0.758-1.21.1-snapshot to 1.0.762 in 2.36, then to 1.0.763 (2.37), 1.0.764 (2.40), 1.0.765 (2.41), 1.0.767 (2.42) and 1.0.773 (2.47), all snapshot builds.[12][13][14][15][16][17]
  • 3.0 to 5.3: snapshot builds 1.0.774 (3.0), 1.0.776 (3.2), 1.0.779 (4.0), 1.0.780 (4.3), 1.0.787 (4.6), 1.0.790 (4.12), 1.0.793 (4.15), 1.0.795 (5.1) and 1.0.796 (5.3).[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26]
  • 5.5: the pack moved from the 1.0.796 snapshot to 1.0.805-1.21.1, a non-snapshot build.[27]
  • 6.0 to 6.3: 1.0.815 snapshot (6.0), then the non-snapshot 1.0.816-1.21.1 (6.1), then snapshots 1.0.818 (6.2) and 1.0.820 (6.3).[28][29][30][31]
  • 7.0 to 7.2: 1.0.823 snapshot (7.0), the non-snapshot 1.0.831-1.21.1 (7.1), then 1.0.832-1.21.1-snapshot (7.2).[32][33][34]
  • 8.0: the pack switched from the 1.0.832 snapshot to the non-snapshot 1.0.832-1.21.1.[35]
  • 8.2: Structurize went from 1.0.832-1.21.1 to the snapshot build 1.0.833-1.21.1-snapshot, which is what this version of the pack ships.[11]

The pattern is that the pack mostly follows snapshot builds, with occasional stops on non-snapshot builds (1.0.805, 1.0.816, 1.0.831 and 1.0.832). The 8.2 update is a step from one of those back onto a snapshot.[11][27][29][33][35]

Unverified What changed inside Structurize between these builds (new features, fixes or balance changes) is unverified, because no changelogs for the shipped jars are available.
