What is RFTools Builder?
2 parts
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base. It adds the builder, all of the shape cards, and the shield system. If you want to build or shape things automatically, or protect an area with shields, this is the mod you're looking for.[1]
It's meant to be played alongside RFTools Power. It also depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, so those need to be installed for it to work.[1]
Version in this pack
This pack ships RFTools Builder 1.21-7.0.1. The mod has been in the pack since version 1.27 or earlier.[2]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I have don't show any quests that involve this mod or any place for it on the ATM Star path. I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression, and I'd rather not guess.
How do you get started with RFTools Builder?
4 parts
RFTools Builder adds the Builder, all the shape cards and the shield system. It is meant to be used together with RFTools Power, so plan your energy supply alongside it. Here is the order I would make things in.[1]
Step 1: Make a Shape Card
The Shape Card is the base for almost everything else. It represents an area that the shield or the builder can use, and the quarry, pump and liquid cards are all made from it.[3][4]
Step 2: Craft the Builder
The Builder can quarry areas, pump liquids, move, copy or swap structures, collect items and XP, move entities and build structures. This pack has its own recipe for it, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults.[3][4]

This recipe is added by the pack.
To mark an area, sneak right click on the builder to start mark mode, then right click to mark two corners of the area you want.[3]
Step 3: Pick a job card
A quarry is a good first project. The Shape Card (Quarry) is made from a plain Shape Card.[4]

Later you can upgrade it to Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) or Shape Card (Silk Quarry). Both are made from the quarry card. If you need to clear the area as well, there are clearing versions such as Shape Card (Clearing Quarry).[4]
Step 4: Protect your base with a shield
The Shield Projector Tier 1 forms a shield out of adjacent template blocks. It can filter by mob type and do various things such as damage or solid. Use the Smart Wrench to add sections to the shield.[3]
Crafting Shaped

You also need template blocks, for example Red Shield Template. The set of template blocks with the same color should touch the shield projector.[3]

There are higher projector tiers up to Shield Projector Tier 4. Each tier is crafted from the one below it.[4]
How does RFTools Builder work?
5 parts
RFTools Builder adds the builder, all the shape cards and the shield system. It depends on RFTools Base and McJtyLib, and it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. Here is how the main systems fit together in this pack.[1]
The Builder
The Builder is the workhorse. Its own description says it can quarry areas, pump liquids, move, copy or swap structures, collect items and XP, move entities and build structures. Infusing it gives a bonus: reduced power consumption and increased speed.[3]
The pack changed how you craft it. The recipe below was added by the pack, so it is not the mod's default.[4]

Shape cards
A Shape Card represents an area that the shield or the builder can use. To set the area, sneak right click on the builder to start mark mode, then right click to mark two corners of the area you want.[3]
The special cards decide what the builder does with that area. This pack has the following, and they are all upgrades of an existing card rather than crafted from scratch.[3][4]
- Shape Card (Quarry) for quarrying, with Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) as upgraded versions.[3][4]
- Shape Card (Pump) for pumping liquids, and Shape Card (Clearing Pump) as its clearing version.[3][4]
- Shape Card (Placing Liquids) for placing liquids.[3][4]
- Shape Card (Clearing Quarry) is the clearing version of the quarry card.[3][4]

Space chamber, copying and vehicles
To copy or move a chunk of the world, you mark it out with a Space Chamber Controller. It is one of the eight corners of the area, and the other corners should be normal Space Chamber blocks. The controller has a channel.[3]

Next you need a Space Card. Sneak right click it on a space chamber controller to set its channel. Right click in the air to show an overview of the area contents. Then insert the card in a builder to copy or move the linked area. The card shows a base cost, and the final cost depends on the infusion level.[3]
The Vehicle Builder takes a space card linked to a space chamber and makes a vehicle inside a Vehicle Card. The card shows a name and its contents. A Vehicle Control Module is crafted from a vehicle card.[3][4]
Movers
The Mover moves vehicles to other movers. Use it together with a mover controller, which you place next to one of the movers. Infusing the controller reduces its power consumption.[3]

Inside the vehicle itself you put Mover Control, which is page 1 of the control screen for the platform's movement. There are four pages in total. Page 2 is crafted from the first page, and page 4 can be turned back into the first.[3][4]
A Mover Status block, also placed in your vehicle, gives you more information about the platform.[3]
Shields
A shield projector forms a shield out of adjacent template blocks. The template blocks come in four colours: blue, green, red and yellow. The set of template blocks with the same colour should touch the shield projector.[3]
The projector comes in four tiers. It can filter by type of mob and do various things, such as damage or being solid. Use the Smart Wrench to add sections to the shield. Infusing a projector reduces its power consumption and increases its damage.[3]
Each craft of the blue or green template gives you 8 blocks.[4]

Unverified The sources do not give power consumption figures, how the builder or shield projector exchange items, fluids or energy with other machines, or what the Supported blocks lists contain, so none of that is covered here.
How do you progress through RFTools Builder?
6 parts
RFTools Builder has no tier system with a quest line behind it in this pack. The order below follows how the in-pack recipes build on each other, so treat it as a suggested path and not an official one.[4]
Unverified The sources here show no quest chapter that places RFTools Builder in the pack's progression, so where it sits in the overall pack order is not confirmed. The path below comes only from the recipe chains.
Step 1: The Builder
The Builder is the mod's main machine, and this pack uses its own recipe for it. The recipe is added by the pack, so the mod's default recipe is not what you craft here. It also needs materials from outside the RFTools family, so expect to gather those first.[4]

Step 2: Shape cards
Almost everything the Builder does starts from the basic Shape Card. Most of the other cards are upgrades of it.[4]
- Shape Card (Quarry) is made from the basic card. It is the base for the two advanced quarry cards.[4]
- Shape Card (Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Silk Quarry) are both made from the Quarry card. Both also use Dimensional Shards from RFTools Base.[4]
- Shape Card (Pump) and Shape Card (Placing Liquids) are other upgrades of the basic card, for working with liquids.[4]
- Shape Card (Void) is also made from the basic card.[4]
- Each of the pump and quarry cards has a clearing version: Shape Card (Clearing Pump), Shape Card (Clearing Quarry), Shape Card (Clearing Fortune Quarry) and Shape Card (Clearing Silk Quarry).[4]

Step 3: Shield Projectors
This is the clearest tier ladder in the mod. There are four projectors, from Shield Projector Tier 1 to Shield Projector Tier 4. Tier 1 is crafted normally, and every higher tier is made by upgrading the one below it: Tier 2 from Tier 1, Tier 3 from Tier 2 and Tier 4 from Tier 3.[4]

How does RFTools Builder work with other mods?
3 parts
RFTools Builder is an addon for RFTools Base, and you see that in the recipes straight away. Almost every machine here is built around the Machine Frame, which comes from RFTools Base. The Builder, Mover family, Space Chamber, Vehicle Builder and Shield Projector Tier 1 all use it.[1][4]
The mod also depends on McJtyLib, and its project page says it is meant to be used together with RFTools Power. I don't have any in-pack recipes or quests showing how RFTools Power fits in, so I can't tell you more about that link.[1]
The Builder: a pack-specific recipe
The Builder is the clearest example of the pack changing things. Its recipe is added by the pack itself, not by the mod, and it uses materials that come from other mods. Always follow this version when you plan your base.[4]

Shape cards and shields: RFTools Base plus vanilla
The upgraded quarry cards are made by upgrading a plain Shape Card (Quarry). The upgrade needs a Dimensional Shard from RFTools Base and some vanilla valuables. Here are the Fortune and Silk versions.[4]

The shield projectors work the same way. Tier 1 is crafted from a Machine Frame and vanilla items. Tiers 3 and 4 are upgrades of the tier below, and each needs a Dimensional Shard. Tier 4 also needs a vanilla Nether Star.[4]

Movers and vehicles: vanilla rails and redstone
The Mover family is built from a Machine Frame and vanilla rail and redstone parts. The Mover uses a vanilla Rail, and the Mover Controller uses an Activator Rail. The Mover Control and Mover Status use vanilla redstone components such as the Repeater and Comparator. The Vehicle Builder takes a vanilla Minecart.[4]

Which RFTools Builder config options matter?
I don't have any config information for RFTools Builder in this pack, so I can't tell you which options matter or what values the pack sets. No config files for this mod were available to me, and the only source I have is the mod's project page, which doesn't list any options.[1]
Unverified Whether the pack changed any RFTools Builder config values from the mod defaults, and what those values are, is unverified. Check the config files in your own instance rather than relying on mod defaults, since the pack's values may differ.
