What is Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration is the bridge between Refined Storage and Mekanism's chemicals. On top of items and fluids, it lets your Refined Storage network store Chemicals too. If you already run a Refined Storage system and want your chemicals in the same network as everything else, this is the mod for you.[1]
The pack ships version 1.1.1 of the mod, and it has been included since All the Mods 10 2.43 or earlier. So it's a long-standing part of the pack, not a recent addition.[2]
Where it fits in the quests
You'll meet the mod in the Refined Storage quest chapter, in the quest "Other Storage Parts" quest. That quest comes after an earlier quest in the same chapter, and its tasks include the 64B Chemical Storage Part, the chemical storage part from this mod.[1]
The same quest also covers storing Energy, Source and Souls. Those come from the Refined Types mod, not from this one. The quest shows these as storage parts you can pick up alongside the chemical one.[1]

How do you get started with Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

Refined Storage can store Chemicals as well as items and fluids, and this add-on is what makes that possible. Your first steps are simple: make a storage part, turn it into a disk, and put that disk in your Disk Drive.[1][3]
First: make a 64B Chemical Storage Part
Everything starts with the 64B Chemical Storage Part. It is the lowest of the regular tiers. It is also one of the items listed as a task in the Refined Storage quest "Other Storage Parts" "Other Storage Parts" quest.[1][4]

Craft the 64B Chemical Storage Disk from your part. The mod's own advancement for this stage is to craft a Chemical Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive, so that is your first goal.[3][4]

Upgrade when you need more room
Parts, disks and blocks come in 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. Each part is crafted from the part one tier below it, so you work your way up the chain. Disks and blocks can be upgraded to a higher tier by combining them with a Chemical Storage Part.[3][4]

How does Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration work?

This mod adds chemical storage to Refined Storage, so Mekanism chemicals can sit in your network. Storage comes as disks and as blocks, in the tiers 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B. There is also a Creative Chemical Storage Disk and a Creative Chemical Storage Block.[3][4]
Disks and blocks
The disk is the portable option. The mod's own advancement asks you to craft a Chemical Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive, so that is where disks go. Start with 64B Chemical Storage Disk and work up to 8192B Chemical Storage Disk.[3][4]
The block version comes in the same tiers, from 64B Chemical Storage Block up to 8192B Chemical Storage Block.[3][4]
The tooltips show capacity in buckets. The Creative Chemical Storage Disk and the Creative Chemical Storage Block both store an infinite amount of buckets.[3]
Storage parts and tier progression
Every disk and block is built around a storage part of the matching tier. The parts form a chain: the 256B part is made from the 64B part, and the 1024B part is made from the 256B part. The 64B part is the entry point and needs no earlier part.[4]

Upgrading and recovering parts
Both disks and blocks can be upgraded to a higher tier by combining them with a Chemical Storage Part, according to their in-game tooltips.[3]
If a disk is empty, use it while holding it to get the Chemical Storage Part back. An empty block works the same way, but it returns the Chemical Storage Part and the Machine Casing.[3]
Power use
The mod has a separate energy usage option for each Chemical Storage Block tier (64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B), plus one for the Creative Chemical Storage Block.[3]

Chemical storage in this pack climbs through the 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. Each tier has a storage part, a storage disk and a storage block, so you follow the same ladder whether you want disks or placed blocks.[4]
Where the quest book puts it
The quest book places this mod in the Refined Storage chapter, in the quest "Other Storage Parts" quest, which unlocks after an earlier quest in that chapter. The quest explains that Refined Storage can store chemicals on top of items and fluids, thanks to the Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration mod. It sits alongside the Refined Types storage parts for Energy, Source and Souls.[1]
The only part of this mod listed in that quest's tasks is the 64B Chemical Storage Part, so the quest book takes you to the entry tier. The higher tiers are not covered by that quest.[1]
The part ladder
Parts are the backbone of the system. Every higher part is crafted using the part from the tier directly below it, together with a Refined Storage processor and a Mekanism alloy. You cannot skip a tier: to reach the 8192B part you build the 64B, 256B and 1024B parts first.[4]

Once you have a part, you can turn it into a disk or a block of the same tier. A disk can be made with a shaped recipe, or with a shapeless recipe that combines the part with a Storage Housing. The housing route is handy if you already have housings on hand.[4]

Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration is what lets your Refined Storage network store Mekanism chemicals. In this pack its crafting recipes pull in Mekanism and Refined Storage items, and a quest in the Refined Storage chapter points you to it.[1][4]
Mekanism and Refined Storage in the recipes
Each chemical storage part in this mod is crafted from items of both mods plus an osmium ingot. As you move up a tier, the recipe asks for a higher Mekanism alloy and a higher Refined Storage processor, and it also uses the previous tier's part. For example, 256B Chemical Storage Part builds on the 64B part, and 8192B Chemical Storage Part is the largest part this mod adds in the recipes shown here.[4]
