Extra Disks is a mod in All the Mods 10 8.3, where it is version 1.21.1-4.0.15. Extra Disks adds bigger disks to Refined Storage 1.14+ (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Extra Disks?

3 parts

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. If you already run a Refined Storage network and your drives keep filling up with cobblestone, water and everything else, this mod is for you.[1]

The pack ships Extra Disks 1.21.1-4.0.15. Everything below describes that version.[2]

Where it fits in progression

You meet Extra Disks in the Refined Storage quest chapter. The first step is "Advanced Storage Housing" quest, which unlocks after you have the 4096B Fluid Storage Part and the 64k Storage Part from base Refined Storage. The quest says the Advanced Storage Housing is required to craft the high tier Storage Disks, so think of it as the gate to everything else in this mod.[3]

After that, the quests split into two chains, one for item parts and one for fluid parts, and each part unlocks the next.[3]

Item storage chain

  1. 256k Storage Part comes right after the housing.[3]
  2. 1024k Storage Part follows, then 4096k Storage Part.[3]
  3. Next come 16384k Storage Part and 65536k Storage Part.[3]
  4. The top two are 262m Storage Part and finally 1048m Storage Part.[3]

Fluid storage chain

  1. 16384B Fluid Storage Part also unlocks right after the housing.[3]
  2. 65536B Fluid Storage Part is next.[3]
  3. 262kB Fluid Storage Part comes after that.[3]
  4. 1048kB Fluid Storage Part is the last fluid part.[3]

Unverified The sources do not show Extra Disks on the ATM Star quest path, and no in-jar guidebook was found for the mod. Crafting recipes and exact disk capacities are not covered here.

How do you get started with Extra Disks?

4 parts

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. In this pack you reach them through a chain of storage parts, and the quest book walks you up that chain one step at a time.[1][3]

Step 1: Advanced Storage Housing

Your first Extra Disks item is the Advanced Storage Housing. Its quest, "Advanced Storage Housing" quest, says it is required to craft high tier Storage Disks. The quest unlocks after you have a 4096B Fluid Storage Part and a 64k Storage Part from Refined Storage, so make those first.[3]

Step 2: Pick your first part

Once you have the housing, the quest book opens two lines. One is for items, starting with the 256k Storage Part. The other is for fluids, starting with the 16384B Fluid Storage Part. Both quests unlock right after the housing quest.[3]

Step 3: Climb the chain

Each part is crafted from the part one tier below it, so you can't skip ahead. The item line in the quest book runs like this:[3][4]

  1. 1024k Storage Part comes after the 256k part.[3]
  2. 4096k Storage Part comes after the 1024k part.[3]
  3. 16384k Storage Part comes after the 4096k part.[3]
  4. 65536k Storage Part comes after the 16384k part.[3]
  5. 262m Storage Part and then 1048m Storage Part finish the line.[3]

The fluid line works the same way: 65536B, then 262kB, then 1048kB, each quest following the one before it. The top item and fluid parts (262m Storage Part, 1048m Storage Part and 1048kB Fluid Storage Part) need a Withering Processor in their recipes, so plan for that before you get there.[3][4]

Step 4: Turn parts into disks or blocks

A part on its own can't store anything. You craft it into a disk, or into a storage block. Disks have shaped recipes, and the 1024k disk is one example.[4]

Storage blocks need an Advanced Machine Casing on top of the matching part, so craft some casings once you want blocks.[4]

Watch out: The chemical storage block and disk recipes are changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. Check the recipe in the site or in-game before you gather materials.[4]

How does Extra Disks work?

4 parts

Extra Disks doesn't add machines, multiblocks or its own power system. It's an add-on for Refined Storage that adds much bigger item and fluid disks. In this pack it also has chemical disks, so everything you do with it happens inside your existing Refined Storage network.[1][5]

The mod's project page says each of its item and fluid disks can store an infinite amount of the corresponding thing, so a single disk is enough for something like water or cobblestone.[1]

Parts, disks and storage blocks

Each chemical size comes as a storage part, a storage disk and a storage block. You can see this with the 65536B, 262kB, 1048kB and 8388kB sizes. There is also an Infinite Chemical Storage Part, Disk and Block.[5]

Each size has its own part, disk and block tags. That's how recipes ask for "any part of this size" instead of one specific item.[4][5]

How do you progress through Extra Disks?

4 parts

Extra Disks adds bigger Refined Storage tiers on top of the ones you already have, and the pack walks you through them in the Refined Storage quest chapter. Everything starts with one gate: Advanced Storage Housing. The quest for it, "Advanced Storage Housing" quest, opens after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part and the 64k Storage Part, and its text says the housing is required to craft high tier Storage Disks.[3]

The housing is the gate for the high tier disks in the quest book.

Item storage path

After the housing quest, the item tiers form one straight line. Each quest asks for a Storage Part and unlocks the next one, so you just work down the list.[3]

  1. 256k Storage Part (quest "256k Storage Part" quest), unlocked right after the housing.[3]
  2. 1024k Storage Part (quest "1024k Storage Part" quest).[3]
  3. 4096k Storage Part (quest "4096k Storage Part" quest).[3]
  4. 16384k Storage Part (quest "16384k Storage Part" quest).[3]
  5. 65536k Storage Part (quest "65536k Storage Part" quest).[3]
  6. 262m Storage Part (quest "262m Storage Part" quest).[3]
  7. 1048m Storage Part (quest "1048m Storage Part" quest), the last item tier in the quests.[3]

The crafting follows the same ladder. The 256k part is built from the Refined Storage 64k Storage Part, and every tier after that is built from the part one step below it. The last two item tiers, 262m and 1048m, switch from the Advanced Processor to the Withering Processor.[4]

Fluid storage path

Fluids have their own branch, which also unlocks right after the housing quest. It starts at 16384B Fluid Storage Part (quest "16384B Fluid Storage Part" quest), then goes to 65536B Fluid Storage Part (quest "65536B Fluid Storage Part" quest), then 262kB Fluid Storage Part (quest "262kB Fluid Storage Part" quest), and ends at 1048kB Fluid Storage Part (quest "1048kB Fluid Storage Part" quest).[3]

The 16384B fluid part is crafted from the Refined Storage 4096B Fluid Storage Part, and each later fluid part uses the one before it. Only the last one, the 1048kB part, needs the Withering Processor.[4]

Turning parts into disks and blocks

Once you have a part, you can make its Storage Disk or Storage Block. Each tier has a shaped disk recipe. The recipe dump also shows a shapeless option that combines the Advanced Storage Housing with a part, which is one way to make the 1024k disk.[4]

How does Extra Disks work with other mods?

4 parts

Extra Disks is an add-on for Refined Storage, so almost everything it adds is tied to Refined Storage items. In this pack it also reaches into Mekanism for its chemical disks.[1][4]

Refined Storage

The base materials for Extra Disks come from Refined Storage. The Advanced Storage Housing is built from Advanced Processor, Improved Processor and Quartz Enriched Iron, plus glass.[4]

Mekanism chemical disks

The chemical disk and part recipes in Extra Disks are marked as changed by the pack. They bring in Mekanism's Atomic Alloy and osmium ingots. The 65536B Chemical Storage Part also needs the 8192B Chemical Storage Part from the Refined Storage Mekanism Integration add-on.[4]

The chemical upgrade recipes are also changed by the pack. The 1048kB Chemical Storage Disk upgrade accepts the smaller chemical disks from both Extra Disks and Refined Storage Mekanism Integration.[4]

Withering Processor

The biggest item, fluid and chemical parts need the Withering Processor. The pack changed the recipe for the Raw Withering Processor, which starts from a Refined Storage Processor Binding. The full recipe is shown below.[4]

Quests

Extra Disks has its own quests in the pack's Refined Storage chapter. "Advanced Storage Housing" quest comes after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part and 64k Storage Part quests. Its quest text says the housing is required to craft high tier Storage Disks.[3]

After that the chain splits into two lines of part quests. The item line goes "256k Storage Part" quest, "1024k Storage Part" quest, "4096k Storage Part" quest, "16384k Storage Part" quest, "65536k Storage Part" quest, "262m Storage Part" quest and finally "1048m Storage Part" quest. The fluid line goes "16384B Fluid Storage Part" quest, "65536B Fluid Storage Part" quest, "262kB Fluid Storage Part" quest and "1048kB Fluid Storage Part" quest.[3]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Extra Disks?

3 parts

All of this mod's quests live in one chapter, Refined Storage. It's a single progression: one gateway quest, then two branches, one for item storage parts and one for fluid storage parts. Each quest asks you to hand in the matching part.[3]

The gateway: Advanced Storage Housing

Everything starts with "Advanced Storage Housing" quest. The task is to obtain Advanced Storage Housing, and the quest text says it's required to craft high tier Storage Disks. The quest unlocks after the 4096B Fluid Storage Part and 64k Storage Part quests, which come from the base Refined Storage content, so you'll need to finish those first.[3]

Item storage branch

This branch starts at "256k Storage Part" quest, and each quest unlocks after the one before it. Here is the order:[3]

  1. "256k Storage Part" quest: hand in the 256k Storage Part. It unlocks after the Advanced Storage Housing quest.[3]
  2. "1024k Storage Part" quest: hand in the 1024k Storage Part.[3]
  3. "4096k Storage Part" quest: hand in the 4096k Storage Part.[3]
  4. "16384k Storage Part" quest: hand in the 16384k Storage Part.[3]
  5. "65536k Storage Part" quest: hand in the 65536k Storage Part.[3]
  6. "262m Storage Part" quest: hand in the 262m Storage Part.[3]
  7. "1048m Storage Part" quest: hand in the 1048m Storage Part, the last item part in the chapter.[3]

Fluid storage branch

The fluid branch also unlocks after the Advanced Storage Housing quest, but it's a separate chain of four quests. You can work on it in parallel with the item branch.[3]

  1. "16384B Fluid Storage Part" quest: hand in the 16384B Fluid Storage Part.[3]
  2. "65536B Fluid Storage Part" quest: hand in the 65536B Fluid Storage Part.[3]
  3. "262kB Fluid Storage Part" quest: hand in the 262kB Fluid Storage Part.[3]
  4. "1048kB Fluid Storage Part" quest: hand in the 1048kB Fluid Storage Part, the last fluid part in the chapter.[3]
Tip: Get the Advanced Storage Housing done early. Every other quest in this mod's chain sits behind it, so it gates both the item and fluid branches.[3]

What changed in Extra Disks between versions?

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Extra Disks 1.21.1-4.0.15. The pack changelogs only record version bumps for this mod, so the list below shows when each version arrived, not what changed inside the mod.[2][6]
