What is Camol?

Camol is part of this pack's mod list, running version 1.21.1-0.3.0 (the file camol-1.21.1-0.3.0.jar). If you've spotted it in your mods folder and wondered what it's doing there, that's the version you've got.[1]

Unverified There isn't reliable information yet on what Camol actually adds, who it's aimed at, or how it ties into the pack's progression. There's no in-game guidebook for it, and no quests in the pack involve it, so this section will be expanded once we can confirm its features.

How do you get started with Camol?

2 parts

Getting into Camol in this pack is quick: there's only one item to craft from scratch, and everything else comes from converting it. Start with the Camo Block. It's a regular shaped crafting recipe, and the pack uses the mod's own recipe without changes.[2]

Once you have a Camo Block, you can turn it into a Shape Retaining Camo Block with a conversion recipe. You don't need any extra ingredients, just the block you already made.[2]

Changed your mind? The conversion works both ways, so a Shape Retaining Camo Block converts straight back into a Camo Block. You never lose a block by picking the wrong version.[2]

Suggested order

  1. Craft a Camo Block. It's the only Camol item made from basic materials.[2]
  2. If you want the other variant, convert it into a Shape Retaining Camo Block.[2]
  3. Convert back to a Camo Block any time you need the original version again.[2]
Tip: Because the two blocks convert freely into each other, you only need one type of block in storage. Craft a stack of Camo Block and convert them as needed.[2]

Unverified What the camo blocks actually do when placed, and how the Shape Retaining version behaves differently from the normal one, isn't covered by the available sources. Test them in a creative world before using them in a big build.

How does Camol work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Camol is a small mod in this pack, and the only thing the sources confirm about it is its crafting. It adds Camo Block and Shape Retaining Camo Block. The recipe data shows no machines, multiblocks, power use, fluid handling or automation for it.[3]

Crafting the Camo Block

The Camo Block is made with a shaped crafting recipe. It uses black, blue, green, red and white dyes, and any dye from each of those color groups works. The exact in-pack layout is below.[3]

Switching between the block types

The mod has its own crafting recipe type for converting between its blocks. You can turn a Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block, and you can turn it back again. Each conversion recipe takes a single input item and gives you the other block.[3]

Unverified How the blocks behave when placed, such as what the Shape Retaining version does differently or how the camouflage is applied, is not shown by the sources here. The mod has no config files in the pack, no in-jar guidebook and no lang descriptions to check, so those mechanics are not described. Check the blocks in-game before relying on them.

How do you progress through Camol?

3 parts

Good news if you like simple mods: in this pack, Camol doesn't have a long tier ladder to climb. Only two items are crafted from it, the Camo Block and the Shape Retaining Camo Block, so the whole progression is one crafting recipe plus a conversion.[2]

Step by step

  1. Craft a Camo Block at a crafting table. This is a shaped recipe and your starting point for the mod.[2]
  2. Convert that Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block using the mod's own conversion recipe.[2]
  3. Changed your mind? You can convert a Shape Retaining Camo Block back into a regular Camo Block.[2]

Camo Block

Everything starts with the Camo Block. It's a standard shaped crafting recipe provided by the mod itself, and it accepts any item from the matching dye tags, so you're not locked into one particular source of each dye.[2]

Switching between the two versions

The Shape Retaining Camo Block isn't a higher tier that you unlock later. You make it straight from a Camo Block, and the conversion also works in reverse. That means you can craft a batch of regular Camo Blocks and turn them into whichever version you need, whenever you need it.[2]

Tip: Since the conversion goes both ways, you never waste a block by picking the wrong version. Just convert it back.[2]

Unverified It's not confirmed exactly how the Shape Retaining Camo Block behaves differently from the regular Camo Block in-game, so test both versions in your world before you commit to a big build.

What changed in Camol between versions?

Camol has been in All the Mods 10 for a good while and has picked up a couple of updates along the way. Here's how its version has changed across the pack's releases.[4][5][6]

  • All the Mods 10 2.40: Camol was added to the pack at version 1.21.1-0.2.1.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: Camol was updated from 1.21.1-0.2.1 to 1.21.1-0.2.3.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.6: Camol was updated from 1.21.1-0.2.3 to 1.21.1-0.3.0.[6]

In All the Mods 10 5.2 you're running Camol 1.21.1-0.3.0, which ships as the file camol-1.21.1-0.3.0.jar. The pack's mod list says Camol was first included in All the Mods 10 2.40 or earlier.[1]

Unverified The pack changelogs only record the version bumps, and no changelogs from the mod itself were available. The actual features, fixes or behaviour changes in each Camol update, especially the jump from 0.2.3 to 0.3.0, are unverified here.
