What is Camol?

2 parts

Camol is all about hiding things. Its Camo Block lets you camouflage almost any block in your base, so ugly cables and pipes can blend into your walls, floors and builds. The pack's quest even jokes that it camouflages everything, kitchen sink included.[1]

The idea is simple. You craft the Camo Block together with the block whose look you want, then right-click it onto the block you want to disguise, like a cable run.[1]

Two shapes to choose from

  • By default, a Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block it's hiding, so a thin cable still behaves like a thin cable.[1]
  • Put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself to switch it to the Shape Retaining version. This version takes on the shape of the block you're using as the disguise instead.[1]
Tip: Changed your mind? Right-click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block to remove the camo.[1]

Who it's for and where it fits

Camol is for anyone who wants a clean-looking base without giving up their tech setup. It doesn't gate any progression. You'll find it in the Building Tips quest chapter, where the "Camol" quest quest asks you to make a Camo Block. That makes it a handy quality-of-life pickup whenever you're ready to tidy up your base.[1]

This pack ships Camol version 1.21.1-0.3.0.[2]

How do you get started with Camol?

4 parts

Camol lets you hide just about anything behind the look of another block. Pipes, cables, those odd-shaped machines that clash with your build: slap a camo on them and they blend right in. The good news is that getting started only takes one item, and the pack walks you through it with its own quest.[1]

Step 1: Craft a Camo Block

Everything in Camol starts with the Camo Block. It's also what completes the "Camol" quest quest in the Building Tips chapter, which unlocks after the Changing Blocks quest. Here's the exact recipe in this pack:[1][3]

any black dyeEmpty slotany white dye

Step 2: Load it with a look and apply it

  1. Craft your Camo Block together with the block whose appearance you want to copy.[1]
  2. Right-click the loaded Camo Block on the block you want to disguise, such as a cable or pipe.[1]
  3. That's it: the target now wears the look of the block you chose.[1]

Step 3: Pick the right shape

This part trips people up. By default, a regular Camo Block keeps the collision shape of the block you camouflaged. So a thin cable still acts like a thin cable, even though it looks like a full block.[1]

If you want the disguised block to also take on the shape of the block you're copying, you need the Shape Retaining Camo Block. You get it by putting a Camo Block into a crafting grid on its own:[1][3]

Changed your mind? There's also a recipe that turns a Shape Retaining Camo Block back into a regular Camo Block:[3]

Shape Retaining Camo Block back to Camo Block

Step 4: Removing a camo

To take a camo off, right-click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block. It's worth keeping a spare one in your inventory while you build, so you can quickly undo mistakes.[1]

Tip: Before you apply anything, decide which shape you need: a regular Camo Block keeps the hidden block's shape, while the Shape Retaining version uses the shape of the block you're copying. Converting in the crafting grid first saves you from redoing your work later.[1]

How does Camol work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Camol is a small mod in this pack, and the only thing the sources confirm about it is its crafting. It adds Camo Block and Shape Retaining Camo Block. The recipe data shows no machines, multiblocks, power use, fluid handling or automation for it.[4]

Crafting the Camo Block

The Camo Block is made with a shaped crafting recipe. It uses black, blue, green, red and white dyes, and any dye from each of those color groups works. The exact in-pack layout is below.[4]

Switching between the block types

The mod has its own crafting recipe type for converting between its blocks. You can turn a Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block, and you can turn it back again. Each conversion recipe takes a single input item and gives you the other block.[4]

Unverified How the blocks behave when placed, such as what the Shape Retaining version does differently or how the camouflage is applied, is not shown by the sources here. The mod has no config files in the pack, no in-jar guidebook and no lang descriptions to check, so those mechanics are not described. Check the blocks in-game before relying on them.

How do you progress through Camol?

4 parts

Camol doesn't have a long tier ladder. In this pack its whole progression is one quest and two versions of the same block: the regular Camo Block and the Shape Retaining Camo Block. Once you have one, you can hide just about anything in your base, from pipes and cables to decorative blocks.[1][3]

Where it sits in the quests

You'll find the "Camol" quest quest in the Building Tips chapter. It unlocks after the Changing Blocks quest, and all you need to complete it is a Camo Block. The quest pitches the mod as a way to camouflage everything, from Pipez and Mekanism cables to ATM Stars, and even the kitchen sink.[1]

Step 1: The Camo Block

Your first and only real crafting goal is the Camo Block. It's a standard shaped crafting recipe from the mod, and this pack's recipe dump doesn't show any changes to it. Here's the exact in-pack recipe:[3]

4× Camo BlockMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
any red dyeEmpty slotany green dye
Empty slotany blue dyeEmpty slot
any black dyeEmpty slotany white dye

Recipe id: camol:camo_item

Step 2: Applying your camo

  1. Craft the Camo Block together with the block whose look you want to copy.[1]
  2. Right click the loaded Camo Block on whatever you want to hide, such as a cable.[1]
  3. To remove a Camo Block later, right click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block.[1]

Unverified This pack's recipe dump doesn't list the recipe that combines a Camo Block with the block you want to copy, so the exact grid layout for that step can't be confirmed here.

Step 3: Choosing the shape variant

This is the closest thing Camol has to a second tier. By default, the Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block you camouflaged. So if you hide a thin cable, you still bump into a cable-shaped hitbox even though it looks like a full block.[1]

If you want the collision to match the block you're copying instead, turn it into a Shape Retaining Camo Block. Put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself and it converts. The in-pack conversion recipe is below:[1][3]

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Recipe id: camol:convert_normal_camo_item

Camo Block to Shape Retaining Camo Block

Changed your mind? The conversion works in both directions, so you can turn a Shape Retaining Camo Block back into a regular Camo Block the same way.[3]

Camo BlockMod recipe

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Recipe id: camol:convert_solid_camo_item

Shape Retaining Camo Block back to Camo Block

Tip: Pick your variant based on how you'll move around the area. The regular Camo Block keeps the hidden block's hitbox, which suits cables you want to stay out of the way. The Shape Retaining version gives you the copied block's shape, which is great when you want the disguise to feel like a real wall or floor.[1]

How does Camol work with other mods?

2 parts

Camol's link to other mods in this pack isn't about shared recipes. It's about hiding their blocks. The "Camol" quest quest in the Building Tips chapter asks you to get a Camo Block and pitches it as the way to camouflage everything, from Pipez to Mekanism cables to ATM Stars, and even the Kitchen Sink.[1]

The quest sits in the Building Tips chapter right after the Changing Blocks quest, so you'll find it alongside the pack's other building helpers.[1]

Hiding another mod's blocks

  1. Craft the Camo Block together with the block you want it to look like.[1]
  2. Right-click the Camo Block on the block you want to hide, such as a pipe or cable from another mod.[1]
  3. To take the disguise off again, right-click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block.[1]

Choosing the collision shape

By default, a Camo Block keeps the collision shape of the block you're hiding. If you disguise a cable, it still has the cable's shape even though it looks like something else.[1]

Tip: Want the disguise to feel like the block it looks like? Put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself to get the Shape Retaining version, which takes on the shape of the block you're using as camo.[1]

Unverified The quest names Pipez, Mekanism cables, ATM Stars and the Kitchen Sink as examples, but there are no in-pack recipes that combine Camol with other mods. It's also not confirmed that every block from every mod in the pack can be camouflaged.

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Camol?

1 part

Camol has one quest in this pack, "Camol" quest, in the Building Tips chapter. It unlocks after the Changing Blocks quest in that chapter, so finish that one first if the Camol quest is still locked.[1]

The task is simple: obtain a Camo Block. Once one is in your inventory, the quest completes.[1]

What the quest teaches you

The quest text doubles as a quick tutorial. Its pitch is that Camol can disguise almost anything, from Pipez pipes to Mekanism cables, so your builds don't have to show all that tech.[1]

  1. Put a Camo Block in a crafting grid with the block you want it to look like.[1]
  2. Right-click the result on the block you want to hide, such as a cable.[1]
  3. To remove the disguise later, right-click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block.[1]
Tip: By default, a Camo Block keeps the collision shape of the block it's hiding. If you want it to use the shape of the block it's imitating instead, put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself to turn it into the Shape Retaining version.[1]

What changed in Camol between versions?

Camol joined All the Mods 10 in pack version 2.40, arriving as version 1.21.1-0.2.1.[5]

  • All the Mods 10 2.40: Camol is added to the pack at version 1.21.1-0.2.1.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: Camol updates from 1.21.1-0.2.1 to 1.21.1-0.2.3.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 4.6: Camol updates from 1.21.1-0.2.3 to 1.21.1-0.3.0.[7]

In All the Mods 10 5.5, the pack ships Camol 1.21.1-0.3.0, the same version it moved to in 4.6. So if you're playing 5.5, you're on 0.3.0.[2][7]

Unverified The specific changes, fixes or new features in each Camol update (for example, what the jump from 0.2.3 to 0.3.0 changed) aren't covered by the available changelogs, so they can't be confirmed here.
