What is Camol?

2 parts

Camol is a camouflage mod. It lets you disguise functional blocks, like cables and pipes, as any other block so your base looks clean instead of cluttered. This pack ships Camol 1.21.1-0.3.1, and it has been in the pack since version 2.40 or earlier.[1]

It is for builders who want their tech to blend into their walls. The pack's quest for it says it can camouflage Pipez, Mekanism Cables, ATM Stars and even the Kitchen Sink.[2]

How it works

You craft the Camo Block together with the block you want to use as the disguise. Then you right click the Camo Block on the block you want to hide, such as a cable.[2]

  • By default, the Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block you camouflaged.[2]
  • For the Shape Retaining version, put a Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself. That version takes on the shape of the camouflaging block instead.[2]
  • To remove a Camo Block, right click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block.[2]

Where it fits in the pack

Camol has its own quest, "Camol" quest, in the Building Tips chapter. It unlocks after the Changing Blocks quest, and its task is to obtain the Camo Block. It is a building and cosmetic tool, so you can pick it up whenever you want to tidy up your setup.[2]

How do you get started with Camol?

4 parts

Camol has one job: hiding things. The pack's quest "Camol" quest says it can camouflage everything from Pipez and Mekanism Cables to ATM Stars, and even the Kitchen Sink. In the quest book it sits in the Building Tips chapter, right after the Changing Blocks quest.[2]

Craft the Camo Block

Everything starts with the Camo Block. It's the item the Camol quest asks for, and this is its in-pack recipe:[2][3]

Crafting Shaped

Empty slotany blue dyeEmpty slot
any black dyeEmpty slotany white dye

Recipe id: camol:camo_item

A shaped crafting recipe that uses dyes.

Pair it with the block you want to copy

Per the quest, you craft the Camo Block together with the block you want to use for the camo.[2]

Apply it

Right click the Camo Block on the block you want to camouflage, like some kind of cable. By default the Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block being camouflaged.[2]

Optional: switch to the Shape Retaining version

If you'd rather it take on the shape of the camoing block, put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself. That gives you the Shape Retaining Camo Block.[2][3]

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Converts a Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block.

Changed your mind? A conversion recipe also takes you back the other way.[3]

Tip: To remove a Camo Block, right click the camoed block with another Camo Block.[2]

How does Camol work?

2 parts

Camol is a small mod in this pack, and the only thing the sources confirm about it is its crafting. It adds Camo Block and Shape Retaining Camo Block. The recipe data shows no machines, multiblocks, power use, fluid handling or automation for it.[3]

Crafting the Camo Block

The Camo Block is made with a shaped crafting recipe. It uses black, blue, green, red and white dyes, and any dye from each of those color groups works. The exact in-pack layout is below.[3]

Crafting Shaped

Switching between the block types

The mod has its own crafting recipe type for converting between its blocks. You can turn a Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block, and you can turn it back again. Each conversion recipe takes a single input item and gives you the other block.[3]

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Converts a Camo Block into a Shape Retaining Camo Block.

Unverified How the blocks behave when placed, such as what the Shape Retaining version does differently or how the camouflage is applied, is not shown by the sources here. The mod has no config files in the pack, no in-jar guidebook and no lang descriptions to check, so those mechanics are not described. Check the blocks in-game before relying on them.

How do you progress through Camol?

2 parts

The sources show Camol as a short, single-step mod in this pack: one quest, one base item and one alternate version of that item. There is no tier ladder to climb, so this section just walks you through that one step.[2][3]

Step 1: the Camol quest

The quest "Camol" quest sits in the Building Tips chapter and unlocks after the Changing Blocks quest. Its task is to get a Camo Block. The quest says it can camouflage everything from Pipez and Mekanism cables to ATM Stars, and even the Kitchen Sink.[2]

Recipe id: camol:camo_item

This is the in-pack recipe for the Camo Block.

To use it, the quest tells you to craft the Camo Block together with the block you want to use for the camo. Then right click it on the block you want to hide, like a cable.[2]

Step 2: pick your Camo Block variant

By default, the Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block being camouflaged. If you would rather it take the shape of the block doing the camouflaging, switch to the Shape Retaining Camo Block. Put the Camo Block into a crafting grid by itself to convert it.[2][3]

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Converts the Camo Block into the Shape Retaining version.

Camo BlockMod recipe

Convert Camo Crafting (camol)

Recipe id: camol:convert_solid_camo_item

Converts the Shape Retaining version back to the normal Camo Block.

Tip: Made a mistake? Right click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block to remove the camo.[2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Camol?

1 part

Camol only shows up in one quest chapter in this pack: Building Tips. The chapter has a single quest for the mod, "Camol" quest, and it comes after the quest called Changing Blocks.[2]

What the Camol quest asks for

The task is to obtain the Camo Block. The quest pitches Camol as a way to camouflage nearly anything, and it names Pipez, Mekanism cables and ATM Stars as examples.[2]

The quest text also walks you through how to use it:[2]

  1. Craft the Camo Block together with the block you want to use as the camouflage.[2]
  2. Right click the Camo Block on the block you want to hide, such as a cable.[2]
  3. By default, the Camo Block takes on the collision shape of the block that is being camouflaged.[2]
  4. To switch to the Shape Retaining version, put the Camo Block in a crafting grid by itself. It then takes on the shape of the block doing the camouflaging.[2]
  5. To remove a Camo Block, right click the camouflaged block with another Camo Block.[2]
Tip: Camol is handy for hiding cable and pipe runs in a base. Decide whether you want the collision shape of the hidden block or the shape of the camouflage block, and use the Shape Retaining swap if you want the second.[2]

What changed in Camol between versions?

1 part

Camol has been in All the Mods 10 since early in the pack's life, and the pack changelogs show a short, steady run of version bumps. All the Mods 10 8.1 ships Camol 1.21.1-0.3.1.[1][4]

Pack release timeline

  • All the Mods 10 2.40: Camol 1.21.1-0.2.1 was added to the pack.[4]
  • All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 1.21.1-0.2.1 to 1.21.1-0.2.3.[5]
  • All the Mods 10 4.6: updated from 1.21.1-0.2.3 to 1.21.1-0.3.0.[6]
  • All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 1.21.1-0.3.0 to 1.21.1-0.3.1, which is the version still in the pack in 8.1.[1][7]

The mod list notes that Camol was first included in 2.40 or earlier, but the 2.40 changelog is the earliest entry I have, where it shows up as newly added.[1][4]

Unverified The pack changelogs only list version numbers. What actually changed inside Camol between 0.2.1, 0.2.3, 0.3.0 and 0.3.1 (new features, fixes or balance changes) is unverified, because no mod changelogs are stored for the shipped jars.
