What is Ars Ocultas?
3 parts
Ars Ocultas is a small compatibility mod that connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. If you use both of those mods, this is the bridge between them. This pack ships version 2.1.0, and it has been in the pack since version 2.2 or earlier.[1][2]
What it does
The big idea is that Occultism spirits can now work from Containment Jars. Here is what the mod's project page lists:[1]
- A spirit in a jar automatically pulls in items from a 7x7 area around it and processes them.[1]
- You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.[1]
- A jar holding a spirit has an item capability, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.[1]
- Janitor Spirits have a special behavior: they automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
- The mod also adds new recipes to make progression easier, plus some quality-of-life changes.[1]
Who it is for
This is for you if you want to automate Occultism spirit work with Ars Nouveau's tools and logistics. Jars can be fed by pipes, hoppers and starbuncles, so they fit into an automated setup.[1]
Where it fits in progression
Unverified The sources I was given do not place this mod on the ATM Star path and do not mention any quests for it. The project page also points to an Ars Ocultas section in the Ars Nouveau guidebook, but I could not confirm that entry in this pack. Check in-game before relying on it.
How do you get started with Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
Ars Ocultas is a small bridge mod that links Ars Nouveau and Occultism. Its main idea is that you can use Occultism spirits from Containment Jars. That means your first steps are about learning what a jar with a spirit inside can do, not crafting a long chain of new items.[1]
What a spirit in a jar does
- The spirit automatically pulls items around it in a 7x7 area and processes them.[1]
- You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.[1]
- A jar that contains a spirit gets an item capability. You can pipe items into it, and the mod page says pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.[1]
- Janitor Spirits try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Recipes and progression
The mod page says it adds new recipes to make progression easier. I can't point you to any of them here, so this section has no recipe blocks. I'd rather not guess at ingredients.[1]
Unverified Which recipes, items and quests this pack adds or changes for Ars Ocultas, and the best order to craft them, couldn't be confirmed from the available sources. Check the Worn Notebook or a recipe viewer in-game before relying on any specific recipe. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Ars Ocultas work?
2 parts
Ars Ocultas is a bridge between Ars Nouveau and Occultism. Its main trick is that Occultism spirits can work from inside Containment Jars, so you can set up spirit-powered processing without a full spirit setup.[1]
Spirits in Containment Jars
Once a jar holds a spirit, that spirit automatically pulls in items from the area around it, a 7x7 area, and processes them. You don't need a separate machine for this.[1]
You can also work by hand. Right-click an item on the jar and the spirit will process it.[1]
Automation
A Containment Jar with a spirit inside gets an item capability. In practice, that means other blocks can insert items into the jar. The mod's page says pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work, so you can feed a jar from an existing item-transport setup.[1]
Janitor Spirits do something extra. They automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar. Put a chest or similar container above a jar with a Janitor Spirit and you get a simple output without any extra piping.[1]
Unverified The pack has no config files for this mod, and the sources don't confirm any pack-specific changes. The 7x7 pull area comes from the mod's own description. Exact processing outputs, speeds, which spirits do what (apart from Janitor Spirits), and the mod's recipes are not confirmed here.
What changed in Ars Ocultas between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 4.5 ships Ars Ocultas 2.1.0, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod was already in the pack by version 0.32 or earlier, so it has been part of All the Mods 10 for a long time.[2]
Mod changelog highlights
- 2.0.1: a fix release. Its changelog lists a single entry under Fixed: recipes. It doesn't say which recipes were affected.[3]
Unverified No pack changelog entries for Ars Ocultas were available, so it is unconfirmed whether the pack changed anything about the mod between releases. Changes in 2.1.0 are also unconfirmed.
