Ars Ocultas in All the Mods 10

Ars Ocultas is a bridge mod. It adds compatibility between Ars Nouveau and Occultism, so if you play with both magic systems, it makes them work together. The pack includes version 2.6.1.^[1][2]

What it does

The big idea is that Occultism spirits can now be used from Containment Jars. Here is what you get with a spirit inside a jar:^[1]

• The spirit automatically pulls items around it in a 7x7 area and processes them.^[1]
• You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.^[1]
• A jar containing a spirit has an item capability, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.^[1]
• Janitor Spirits automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.^[1]
• The mod also adds new recipes to make progression easier, plus some quality-of-life changes.^[1]

Where it fits in the pack

You will meet Ars Ocultas in the Occultism quest chapter. The quest a quest in "Occultism" comes after Ihagan's Enthrallment and asks you to get the Sacrificial Altar.^[3]

The Sacrificial Altar automates sacrifices. You place it under your central bowl. It lets a sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.^[3]

Unverified No source here shows this mod on the ATM Star quest path, and no in-jar guidebook for it was found, so treat its place in the ATM Star progression as unconfirmed.

Ars Ocultas connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. Its main job is to let you use Occultism spirits from Ars Nouveau's Containment Jars. The sources I have confirm only one real progression step for this mod in the pack, so this section is short.^[1]

Your first item: the Sacrificial Altar

The pack's quest book covers Ars Ocultas in its Occultism chapter, and the Sacrificial Altar is the item it asks for. The altar automates Occultism sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. It can then replace a sacrifice with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.^[3]

The quest a quest in "Occultism" comes after the Ihagan's Enthrallment quest in that chapter. Finish that one first, then come back for the altar.^[3]

How to craft it

The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you may remember from the mod's defaults. In this pack the altar is made at Ars Nouveau's enchanting apparatus. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:^[4]

Sacrificial AltarChanged by the pack

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

• Drygmy Token
• Containment Jar
• 2× Sourcestone
• Golden Ritual Bowl
• 4× any silver ingot

What else the mod does

• Spirits can be used from Containment Jars. They automatically pull in items around them in a 7x7 area and process them.^[1]
• You can also right-click items on the jar to process them by hand.^[1]
• A Containment Jar holding a spirit accepts items from pipes, hoppers and starbuncles.^[1]
• Janitor Spirits automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.^[1]

Ars Ocultas is a small bridge mod that connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. Its mechanics are about using Occultism spirits from Ars Nouveau's Containment Jar and then automating that jar.^[1]

Spirits in Containment Jars

The main feature is that spirits can be used from a Containment Jar. Once a spirit is inside, the jar does the work for you.^[1]

• The spirit automatically pulls items from around it in a 7x7 area and processes them.^[1]
• You can also right-click items on the jar yourself to process them.^[1]

Automation

A Containment Jar holding a spirit has an item capability attached, so you can pipe items straight into it. Pipes, hoppers and Starbuncles all work.^[1]

Janitor Spirits get a special behavior. They automatically try to push their contents into an inventory on top of the jar, so a container above the jar can collect the output.^[1]

The Sacrificial Altar

The mod adds the Sacrificial Altar. In this pack it is crafted in an Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus, and the pack has changed that recipe. One of its inputs is a Containment Jar (Containment Jar). The recipe below is the exact in-pack version.^[4]

Enchanting Apparatus (ars_nouveau)

• Drygmy Token
• Containment Jar
• 2× Sourcestone
• Golden Ritual Bowl
• 4× any silver ingot

Crafted in the Enchanting Apparatus. The pack changed this recipe.

Unverified The full overview of the mod's mechanics lives in the Ars Ocultas section of the Worn Notebook, the Ars Nouveau guidebook. The sources here do not show that guidebook's contents, so details beyond the points above are not confirmed.

Ars Ocultas has a very small footprint in this pack's quest book. The quest source shows one quest for it, in the Occultism chapter, and it centers on the Sacrificial Altar.^[3]

The Sacrificial Altar quest

The quest a quest in "Occultism" is called "Source Substitutes Sacrifice". It comes right after "Ihagan's Enthrallment" in the Occultism chapter, and its task is to obtain the Sacrificial Altar.^[3]

The quest describes the Altar as a tool for automating Sacrifices. You place it under your central bowl. It lets a Sacrifice be replaced with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.^[3]

Crafting it in this pack

You craft the Sacrificial Altar at an Enchanting Apparatus, not at a regular crafting table. The pack changes this recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default version. The block below shows the exact in-pack recipe.^[4]

Ars Ocultas is a bridge mod. Its project page describes it as adding compatibility between Ars Nouveau and Occultism.^[1]

Sacrificial Altar: Ars Nouveau meets Occultism

The clearest link in this pack is the Sacrificial Altar. You craft it at the Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus, and the pack has changed this recipe. It mixes Ars Nouveau items like the Drygmy Token, Containment Jar and Sourcestone with the Occultism Golden Ritual Bowl.^[4]

The quest a quest in "Occultism" in the Occultism chapter covers this block, and it comes after Ihagan's Enthrallment. The altar is meant for automating sacrifices. You place it under your central bowl, and a sacrifice can then be replaced with Source from a nearby Source Jar. For that to work, a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice also has to be nearby.^[3]

Spirits and Containment Jars

Beyond the altar, the mod's project page describes how it links the two mods around the Containment Jar:^[1]

• Spirits can be used from Containment Jars.^[1]
• Spirits automatically pull items around them in a 7x7 area and process them. You can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.^[1]
• A Containment Jar with a spirit inside has an item capability, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.^[1]
• Janitor Spirits automatically try to push their contents into an inventory on top of the jar.^[1]

Ars Ocultas shows up in the pack's "Occultism" quest chapter, and the sources I have cover just one quest from it. It's a short section, but the quest is a handy one if you want to automate your sacrifices.^[3]

Source Substitutes Sacrifice

The quest a quest in "Occultism" asks you to obtain the Sacrificial Altar. It unlocks after the quest called Ihagan's Enthrallment, so you'll reach it later in the Occultism chapter.^[3]

The quest describes the Sacrificial Altar as a tool focused on automating Sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. It lets a Sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.^[3]

Unverified The other quests in the Occultism chapter, and any other chapters that involve Ars Ocultas, aren't covered by the sources I have, so I can't tell you their order or what they ask for. The mod is also not on the ATM Star quest path.

Ars Ocultas has been in All the Mods 10 since 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 2.6.1. The pack changelogs only record which version the mod was bumped to, not what changed inside each update. Here are the bumps, newest first.^[2]

• All the Mods 10 8.0: updated from 2.5.0 to 2.6.1. This is the version still in the pack in 8.1.^[2][5]
• All the Mods 10 7.3: updated from 2.4.1 to 2.5.0.^[6]
• All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1.^[7]
• All the Mods 10 6.1: updated from 2.2.1 to 2.4.0.^[8]
• All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 2.2.0 to 2.2.1.^[9]
• All the Mods 10 4.6: updated from 2.1.0 to 2.2.0.^[10]

Unverified What actually changed in each Ars Ocultas version (new content, balance changes or fixes) is unverified. No changelogs for the shipped jars were available, so check the mod's own release notes before assuming anything changed in a given update.
