What is Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
Ars Ocultas is a bridge mod. It adds compatibility between Ars Nouveau and Occultism, so the magic systems work together instead of side by side. This pack ships version 2.6.1.[1][2]
What it does
- Spirits can be used straight from Containment Jars.[1]
- A spirit in a jar automatically pulls items from a 7x7 area around it and processes them. You can also right-click items onto the jar to process them yourself.[1]
- A Containment Jar with a spirit inside gets an item capability. That means you can pipe items into it, and pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work.[1]
- Janitor Spirits have a special trick: they automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
- The mod also adds new recipes to make progression easier, plus some quality-of-life changes.[1]
Where it fits in this pack
You meet the mod in the Occultism chapter of the quest book. The quest a quest in "Occultism" asks you to get the Sacrificial Altar, and it comes after the quest Ihagan's Enthrallment.[3]
The Sacrificial Altar automates sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl, and it lets a sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
Unverified The mod page points to an Ars Ocultas section in the Worn Notebook, the Ars Nouveau guidebook, for a full overview. The sources here do not include an in-jar guide for this mod, and they do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it.
How do you get started with Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
Ars Ocultas connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. It lets spirits work from Containment Jars and adds new recipes to make progression easier. The one item this pack's quest book singles out for the mod is the Sacrificial Altar, so that is where we start.[1][3]
Know what the jars do
Before you build anything, it helps to know the main idea of the mod. Spirits can be used from Containment Jars. A spirit in a jar automatically pulls items around it in a 7x7 area and processes them, and you can also right-click items on the jar to process them yourself.[1]
Jars holding spirits also accept items from pipes, hoppers and starbuncles. Janitor Spirits go one step further and try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Make the Sacrificial Altar
The Sacrificial Altar automates Sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. With a nearby Source Jar, it can substitute Source for a sacrifice, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
In the pack's quest book, this is quest a quest in "Occultism" in the Occultism chapter, and it comes after the Ihagan's Enthrallment quest.[3]
The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so follow the one below rather than any version you remember from elsewhere. It is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus.[4]

How does Ars Ocultas work?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 0.6.0-beta guide
Ars Ocultas is an integration mod that connects Ars Nouveau and Occultism. The core idea is that spirits from Occultism can work from inside Containment Jars from Ars Nouveau.[1]
Spirits in Containment Jars
Once a Containment Jar holds a spirit, the spirit automatically pulls items from a 7x7 area around the jar and processes them. You can also right-click items on the jar yourself to have them processed.[1]
Automation
A jar with a spirit inside has an Item Capability attached, so you can pipe items into it. Pipes, hoppers and starbuncles all work for this.[1]
Janitor Spirits do something extra. They automatically try to push their contents into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Sacrificial Altar
The mod adds the Sacrificial Altar. In this pack it is crafted at the Enchanting Apparatus, and the pack has changed its recipe from the mod's own.[5][6]

How do you progress through Ars Ocultas?
2 parts
The pack's quest book covers just one Ars Ocultas item, the Sacrificial Altar. That means this mod has no tier ladder to climb here, just a single quest step.[3]
Where it sits in the quests
The quest a quest in "Occultism", called "Source Substitutes Sacrifice", is in the Occultism chapter. It comes after the quest "Ihagan's Enthrallment", so work through that one first. Its task is to obtain the Sacrificial Altar.[3]
The quest describes the altar as a tool that automates Sacrifices. It goes under your central bowl. With it, a Sacrifice can be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
Crafting the Sacrificial Altar
The pack changes this recipe from the mod's default, so go by the in-pack version below. It is crafted in the Ars Nouveau Enchanting Apparatus, so you will need one set up first.[4]

How does Ars Ocultas work with other mods?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
Ars Ocultas is a bridge mod: its whole job is connecting Ars Nouveau with Occultism. If you're running both magic mods in this pack, this is what lets their systems work together instead of side by side.[1]
The Sacrificial Altar
The main in-pack recipe tying the three mods together is the Sacrificial Altar. You craft it in Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus, and it combines parts from both Ars Nouveau and Occultism, including an Golden Ritual Bowl and a Containment Jar. This pack has changed the recipe, so check the version below rather than an older guide or video.[7]

Unverified The sources don't describe what the Sacrificial Altar does once you've placed it, so test it in-game before you build your setup around it.
Occultism spirits in Containment Jars
The biggest feature is that you can use Occultism spirits from Ars Nouveau's Containment Jar. Instead of letting a spirit wander around, you keep it in a jar and it keeps working.[1]
- A spirit in a jar automatically pulls in items around it in a 7x7 area and processes them.[1]
- You can also right-click an item on the jar to have the spirit process it by hand.[1]
- Jars holding a spirit accept items through automation, so you can feed them with pipes, hoppers or Ars Nouveau's starbuncles.[1]
- Janitor spirits get a special trick: they automatically try to push what they're carrying into an inventory placed on top of the jar.[1]
Unverified The mod's project page says the Ars Ocultas section of Ars Nouveau's Worn Notebook has a full overview, but that guide section hasn't been confirmed for this pack.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Ars Ocultas?
1 part
Ars Ocultas shows up in one place in the quest book: the "Occultism" chapter. In the sources I have, it's a single quest, so this section is short.[3]
Source Substitutes Sacrifice
The quest a quest in "Occultism", titled "Source Substitutes Sacrifice", comes right after the "Ihagan's Enthrallment" quest in the same chapter. Finish that one first and this one opens up.[3]
Its task is built around the Sacrificial Altar. The quest text describes it as another tool Ars Ocultas offers, this time focused on automating Sacrifices.[3]
Here's how the quest says it works. The altar goes under your central bowl. It lets a Sacrifice be substituted with Source from a nearby Source Jar, as long as a Containment Jar holding the would-be sacrifice is also nearby.[3]
Unverified The sources don't give a crafting recipe for the Sacrificial Altar or any quest rewards, so check in-game for how to get it and what the quest gives you.
What changed in Ars Ocultas between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Ars Ocultas 2.6.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier. Here are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, from 2.2.0 up to the version you're playing.[2]
Mod changelog highlights
- 2.2.0: Added support for Crystallizer spirits, which handle automatic item transfer to nearby inventories.[8]
- 2.2.0: Added the Sacrificial Altar, a new block for sacrificing mobs from Mob jars. The changelog says it consumes 5,000 Source and must be placed under the golden sacrificial bowl.[8]
- 2.2.0: Bumped the minimum versions of Occultism and Neoforge.[8]
- 2.2.1: Fixed the Sacrificial Altar loot table, so it now drops as an item when broken.[9]
- 2.4.0: Added tooltips to containment jars that hold Occultism spirits. They show on the jar item and in the world when you look at the jar.[10]
- 2.4.0: Added support for interactions with Occultism spirit gems, so you can insert and remove mobs directly from the containment jar.[10]
- 2.6.1: Fixed a crash related to the Sacrificial Altar.[11]
Since 2.0.4 includes 2.6.1, everything listed above is part of the mod version you get in this pack.[2][8][9][10][11]
