What is Apotheosis?

2 parts

This pack includes Apotheosis version 8.1.3. Apotheosis is a content mod built around making you stronger than ever before while staying true to vanilla mechanics at heart. If you like the idea of hunting for better and better gear in an RPG style, without that system taking over the whole game, this is the mod for you.[1][2]

Apotheosis is one piece of a family of mods. Apothic Attributes provides the new attributes and effects, Apothic Spawners lets you pick up and modify Mob Spawners, and Apothic Enchanting overhauls the enchanting system. Apotheosis itself is the adventure module, which gives you procedurally generated loot with powerful bonuses and also brings new foes for you to face.[1][3]

What you'll be doing

  • Finding Affix Items: any item from vanilla or from other mods can carry affixes, which work a bit like enchantments. Each Affix Item has a Rarity, and the Rarity decides which affixes it gets and how strong they are.[1][4]
  • Salvaging and reforging: you break Affix Items down in the Salvaging Table to get Rarity Materials, then use those in a Reforging Table to roll new affixes onto your gear. A Simple Reforging Table covers items up to Rare, and you upgrade it to reforge Epic items or higher.[1][5][6]
  • Socketing Gems: some items have Sockets, and each socket can hold a Gem that adds bonuses on top of the item's affixes. Gems can also be upgraded at the Gem Cutting Table.[1][7][8]
  • Fighting tougher mobs: Apothic Invaders wield affixes themselves and always drop their Affix Item. Apothic Elites and random Augmentations make ordinary mobs more dangerous too.[1]

Where it fits in your progression

Your progression runs through World Tiers, which you open with a hotkey (default: CTRL+T). There are five tiers: Haven, Frontier, Ascent, Summit and Pinnacle. Each one has Unlock Criteria, and Summit only opens after you slay the Wither. A higher tier gives you better loot and some direct bonuses, but every enemy in your world gets stronger too.[1]

At the very end sits the Augmenting Table, an end-game station that upgrades or rerolls individual affixes. It costs a lot of experience and uses Sigils of Enhancement as fuel, so it is where you perfect a build once you have resources to spare.[1][9]

Watch out: Gems only drop from mobs when a real player makes the kill. Machines and other automation won't get them, so plan to do some hunting yourself.[8]
Tip: The in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows, together with JEI, has detailed information on everything. Modpacks can change content, and any disabled content won't show up in the book.[1]

How do you get started with Apotheosis?

7 parts

Apotheosis is all about Affix Items: gear with procedurally generated bonuses on top of the usual enchantments. Each one has a Rarity that decides how many affixes it gets and how strong they are. Some also have Sockets for Gems. Your early game follows a simple loop: find affix loot, break it down into materials, then use those materials to craft your own affix gear.[1][3][10]

Tip: Make the in-game guidebook, the Chronicle of Shadows, early on. Between it and JEI, almost everything about the mod is explained in-game, and any content that is disabled won't show up in the book.[1]

Step 1: Find your first affix items and gems

Affix Items show up in loot chests and drop from random mobs. The rarity you find depends on your World Tier. Bosses are the jackpot: every boss carries exactly one affix item that is guaranteed to drop when it dies, and that item has a higher chance of being a higher rarity.[1][11]

Gems come from similar places. You'll find them in chest loot and, rarely, as mob drops, and they are more likely to drop from bosses.[1][8]

Watch out: For a gem to drop, the killer has to be a real player. Mob farms, machines and other automation won't get you gems.[8]

Once you've found your first affix item, the Haven World Tier unlocks. Press CTRL+T to open the World Tier select screen.[12]

Step 2: Crush gems into Gem Dust

Gem Dust is the mod's versatile crafting ingredient, and it goes into the tables and sigils in the next steps. You make your first two dust by crushing two gems with an anvil in-world.[1][13][14]

Step 3: Build the Salvaging Table

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into Rarity Materials. It also turns gems into Gem Dust, so you can stop crushing them with anvils.[6][13][14]

  • Epic items salvage into apotheosis:epic_material.[6][14]
  • Mythic items are the only source of apotheosis:mythic_material.[6][14]

Step 4: Gem-Fused Slate and Sigils of Rebirth

Gem-Fused Slate is the base for the mod's sigils. The first sigil you'll want is the Sigil of Rebirth, which is the fuel used for reforging.[5][14]

Step 5: The Simple Reforging Table

This is where you start making your own gear. The Simple Reforging Table reforges items up to Rare rarity. It works on any valid item, not just ones that already have affixes, and you can reforge the same item more than once.[5]

The table has three slots. Your item goes in the center, Rarity Materials for the rarity you want go top-left, and Sigils of Rebirth go bottom-right. Just like an Enchanting Table, it offers three choices, and none is inherently stronger than the others. The second and third choices cost double and triple the base cost.[5]

Socketing gems along the way

To put a gem into a socketed item, right-click the item while holding the gem on it, or combine the two in a Smithing Table. A Sigil of Withdrawal used in a Smithing Table pulls the gems back out and returns both the item and every gem. If an item has no sockets, the Sigil of Socketing can add them.[1][8]

What comes later

  • The Gem Cutting Table upgrades a gem using Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same rarity. The exact cost is shown in its GUI.[7]
  • To reforge at Epic rarity or higher, you'll upgrade your Simple Reforging Table into a Reforging Table.[5]
  • The end-game Augmenting Table uses Sigil of Enhancement to upgrade or reroll single affixes. It's best saved for Mythic items, or possibly Epic ones.[9]

How does Apotheosis work?

7 parts

The adventure side of Apotheosis runs on a loop of crafting stations. You find affix items, break them down at the Salvaging Table into Rarity Materials, and spend those materials, together with Gem Dust and a few special sigils, at the Reforging, Gem Cutting and Augmenting Tables to build the gear you actually want.[1][12]

How affix items are built

Every affix item has a rarity, and that rarity decides which affixes it gets and how strong they are. Stat affixes give a simple attribute bonus and show up at every rarity. Effect affixes add extra functionality and only appear on Rare and better items. Sockets are affixes that just hold a Gem. A durability affix is present on all Rare and better items, and it applies after all other damage resistances, so it multiplies with Unbreaking.[4][15]

  • Common: always one stat bonus, with a low chance for a second.[4]
  • Uncommon: always two stat bonuses, maybe a third, and possibly a single socket.[4]
  • Rare: three stat bonuses and a special effect, maybe a second effect, possibly a socket, and always a slight durability bonus.[4]
  • Epic: three stats and an effect, maybe a fourth stat and a second effect, up to two sockets, and a stronger durability bonus.[4]
  • Mythic: four stats and two effects, maybe a third effect and three sockets, and a significant durability bonus.[4]

The rarity of the loot you find depends on your World Tier. You open the tier selection screen with a hotkey, which defaults to CTRL+T.[1]

Gem Dust and the Salvaging Table

Gem Dust is the glue of the whole system, and you can't craft a Salvaging Table without some. To get your first dust, drop any Apothic Gem into the world and make an anvil block fall on it. Your first two dust have to come from crushing two gems this way. After that you can switch to the Salvaging Table.[1][12][13][14]

The Salvaging Table breaks affix items down into the Rarity Material that matches their rarity. These materials are the currency you spend at every other station.[6][12]

  • Common items give apotheosis:common_material.[6][14]
  • Uncommon items give apotheosis:uncommon_material.[6][14]
  • Rare items give apotheosis:rare_material.[6][14]
  • Epic items give apotheosis:epic_material.[6][14]
  • Mythic items give apotheosis:mythic_material.[6][14]

The table also handles gems. This pack has salvaging recipes that turn chipped, cracked, flawed, normal, flawless and perfect gems into Gem Dust, so once you own the table you can use it instead of the anvil.[13][14]

Gem Dust also goes into Gem-Fused Slate, a crafting component used in the sigil recipes further down.[14]

Reforging

Reforging gives an item brand-new affixes. It works on any valid item, not just items that already have affixes, and you can reforge the same item as many times as you like. You start with the Simple Reforging Table, which can reforge items up to Rare rarity.[5]

  1. Put the item you want to reforge in the center slot.[5]
  2. Put Rarity Materials of the rarity you want to reforge at in the top-left slot.[5]
  3. Put Sigil of Rebirth in the bottom-right slot. This is the fuel for reforging.[5][12][14]
  4. Pick one of the three choices on offer. Each choice is a possible new version of your item, and none is stronger than the others by default.[5]

Each rarity has a base cost in experience, sigils and materials. The first choice costs the base amount, and the extra choice slots charge double and triple that base cost.[5]

To reforge at Epic rarity or higher, you need to upgrade your Simple Reforging Table into the full Reforging Table.[5][14]

Gems and the Gem Cutting Table

When you socket a Gem into an affix item, it gives a strong bonus, and the same gem can give different bonuses in different items. A gem's rarity alone decides its strength. Some gems are Unique, which means an item can hold only one copy of them.[8]

The Gem Cutting Table upgrades gems. Each upgrade costs Gem Dust, Rarity Materials and a second gem of the same rarity. Stronger gems need more dust and higher-tier materials, and the table's screen shows you the exact cost.[7][12]

Sockets and sigils

  • To socket a gem, put the item on the left and the gem on the right in a Smithing Table. Choose carefully, because removing a socketed gem is costly.[8][12]
  • You can also socket a gem by right-clicking the item while holding the gem over it.[1]
  • Sigil of Socketing adds one socket to an item.[1][12]
  • Combining a socketed item with Sigil of Withdrawal in a Smithing Table removes the socketed gems, and the item and gems are returned to you.[8][12][14]
  • Using Sigil of Unnaming in a Smithing Table strips the affix parts from an item's name.[12][14]

Augmenting

The Augmenting Table is the end-game station. It lets you upgrade or reroll a single affix while leaving the rest of the item untouched. Put an affix item in the upper slot and Sigil of Enhancement in the lower slot, then pick the affix you want from the drop-down menu. It's usually only worth doing on Mythic items, though Epic items can be worth considering too.[9][12]

  • Upgrading costs two Sigils of Enhancement and raises the affix's internal strength by 25%. How much that actually helps depends on the affix.[9]
  • Rerolling costs one Sigil of Enhancement and swaps the selected affix for another one of the same type. The possible replacements are shown on the left.[9]

Automation

Watch out: Gems only drop from mobs when a real player makes the kill. Kills by machines or other automation won't drop gems, so a machine-run mob farm won't supply them. Chest loot and bosses are better sources, and bosses are more likely to drop gems.[8]

How do you progress through Apotheosis?

3 parts

Apotheosis gives you two big progression tracks to climb. First, you push your Enchanting Table from the usual Level 30 all the way up to Level 100. Second, you gear up with affix items that come in rarity tiers, then use a set of crafting stations to salvage, reforge and eventually augment that gear.[3][4][16][17][18]

Tip: In this pack, all the table and sigil recipes for Apotheosis are the mod's own recipes. The recipe cards below show exactly what you need.[14]

Enchanting Table levels

  1. Level 30: You get here the usual way, with fifteen bookshelves. Candles, Skulls and Amethyst Clusters give you some basic ways to raise your table's other stats.[17]
  2. Level 45: Build Hellshelves and add them to your existing bookshelves. If you'd rather avoid the Nether, you can head to the Ocean and make Seashelves instead.[19]
  3. Level 60: Use Infusion Enchanting to upgrade the type of shelf you've been using. Adding these upgraded shelves to your old ones gets you to Level 60. Sightshelves, plus Rectifiers if you have a steady Amethyst supply, give you better options for the other stats.[19]
  4. Level 70: You need a Level 60 table and access to Deepslate. Craft a Dormant Deepshelf and infuse it into a Deepshelf. The infusion needs some extra blocks to hit the stat threshold.[20]
  5. Level 75: Upgrade your Deepshelves with materials that only come from the Deep Dark. You loot Echo Shards from Ancient Cities and collect Sculk with Silk Touch.[20]
  6. Level 80: Slay the Warden, which lets you craft Sculkshelves.[20]
  7. Level 90: With a Level 80 table and access to Dragon's Breath, you can make Infused Dragon's Breath. It's the core component of Endshelves.[18]
  8. Level 100: Head into the outer End for a Dragon Head so you can build a Draconic Endshelf. A single one boosts your table from Level 90 to Level 100, but it gives no other stat bonuses.[18]

Affix gear rarity tiers

While adventuring you'll find affix items, which carry bonuses called affixes. Every affix item has a rarity, and a higher rarity is always stronger. Each rarity also has its own Rarity Material, which you get by salvaging items of that tier.[4][6][10][14]

  • Common: always has one stat bonus, with a low chance of a second. Salvages into apotheosis:common_material.[4][14]
  • Uncommon: always has two stat bonuses, may get a third, and may get one socket. Salvages into apotheosis:uncommon_material.[4][14]
  • Rare: has three stat bonuses and a special effect, and may get a second effect and a socket. It always has a slight durability bonus. Effect affixes only show up from this tier upward. Salvages into apotheosis:rare_material.[4][14][15]
  • Epic: has three stats and an effect, may get a fourth stat and a second effect, and may get up to two sockets. It has a stronger durability bonus. Salvages into apotheosis:epic_material.[4][14]
  • Mythic: has four stats and two effects, and may get a third effect and three sockets. It carries a significant durability bonus. Salvages into apotheosis:mythic_material.[4][14]

Stations, in the order you'll unlock them

Your first step is getting Gem Dust. You can crush any Apothic Gem into Gem Dust, and the first way to do it is with an anvil in-world. Gems turn up in chest loot and occasionally drop from mobs, and Bosses are more likely to drop them.[8][13]

Watch out: A gem only drops if a real player makes the kill. Machines and other automation won't get you gems.[8]

After you've crushed a few gems with an anvil, build a Salvaging Table. It breaks affix items down into their Rarity Materials and turns gems into Gem Dust.[6][13][14]

Next comes the Simple Reforging Table. It lets you reforge items up to Rare rarity, even items that had no affixes to begin with. Put the item in the center slot, Rarity Materials in the top-left slot and Sigil of Rebirth as fuel in the bottom-right slot. You get three choices. The extra choices cost double and triple the base cost.[5]

The end-game station is the Augmenting Table. It works on one affix at a time and leaves the rest of the item alone. Upgrading an affix costs two Sigil of Enhancement and raises its internal strength by 25%. Rerolling costs one sigil and swaps the affix for another of the same type. It's usually worth augmenting only Mythic items, though Epic items can be worth it too.[9]

How does Apotheosis work with other mods?

2 parts

Apotheosis is split into several separate mods, or modules, that work together. Apothic Enchanting is one of them: it overhauls Minecraft's enchanting system and adds many new enchantments. In this pack, the clearest crafting link between Apotheosis and another mod comes through that enchanting module.[1][14]

Sigil of Socketing

The Sigil of Socketing is the pack's cross-mod recipe for Apotheosis. It uses Infused Dragon's Breath from Apothic Enchanting alongside Apotheosis materials like Gem Dust and Gem-Fused Slate. That means your enchanting progress feeds into the adventure side of the mod. Check the recipe below for the exact layout.[1][14]

For this recipe you'll need a stock of Gem Dust. You get it by crushing Apothic Gems, for example with an anvil in-world. Once you've crushed a few gems, you can build a Salvaging Table and use that instead.[13]

Unverified The sources don't explain what the Sigil of Socketing does when you use it. The name suggests it has to do with adding sockets to items, but that isn't confirmed here.

Affixes on items from other mods

Affixes, the core of the adventure module, can strengthen any item you find, whether it's vanilla or from another mod. So gear from other mods in the pack can pick up rarities, stat bonuses and sockets too.[1]

Watch out: If you're planning to farm gems with machines from other mods, heads up: for a gem to drop from a mob, the killer has to be a real player, not a machine or other automation source. Gems are more likely to drop from Bosses, and they also show up in chest loot.[8]

What changed in Apotheosis between versions?

1 part

In All the Mods 10 2.39, the pack ships Apotheosis version 8.1.3, using the file Apotheosis-1.21.1-8.1.3.jar. Apotheosis has been part of the pack for a long time: it was first included in All the Mods 10 2.11 or earlier.[2]

Pack updates

  • All the Mods 10 2.32: Apotheosis was updated from 8.1.2 to 8.1.3. That's the same version you're running in 2.39.[2][21]

Unverified The changes inside the Apotheosis 8.1.2 to 8.1.3 update are unverified, because no changelog for the mod jar was available. Any Apotheosis updates between the pack's first release with the mod and 2.32 are also unverified.
