XyCraft Machines guide for All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0 to 1.0.2

XyCraft Machines is in the pack as version 0.7.45. The sources I have don't include a description of the mod, so this page sticks to what the pack's quest book shows. The quest book gives it a chapter called "xycraft" with 26 quests. The quests ask you to get machine blocks such as the Machine Base, ports, the Soaryn Box and the Collector.^[1][2]

How the xycraft chapter is laid out

Four quests have nothing before them: two untitled ones (one asks for an item, the other is a checkmark), a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The Balloon on a Stick quest asks for Balloon on a Stick.^[2]

• a quest in "?" leads to four quests: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?".^[2]
• The Machine Base branch has five quests that each also need a Xychorium gem quest: a quest in "?" (Light gems), a quest in "?" (Green gems), a quest in "?" (Red gems), a quest in "?" (Blue gems) and a quest in "?" (Dark gems).^[2]
• The fluid branch starts at a quest in "?". It leads to a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". A quest asking for plain glass comes after all four of those.^[2]
• The item branch starts at a quest in "?", which leads to a quest in "?". After that come a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Each of these three also needs the Item Port quest.^[2]

The Fluid Pipe quest asks for the Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe, and it accepts pipes from several mods: Pipez, Modern Dynamics, Mekanism, Immersive Engineering or the Pipez universal pipe.^[2]

Welcome to XyCraft Machines! Several of this mod's recipes use the same block, the Machine Base, so that is where to start. The recipe blocks below show the exact in-pack recipes, so check them before you gather materials.^[3]

First: Machine Base

Start with the Machine Base. The Fabricator, Item IO, Valve, Light Field, Accelerated Planter, Fluid Void, Ignition Plate and Water Block recipes all use it, so make a few before anything else.^[3]

Next: Ports

Next come the port blocks. The Item Port is used in the Buffer, Collector, Item IO and Soaryn Box recipes. The Fluid Port is used in the Valve and Hydro Pump recipes. Both recipes are shapeless, so you can place the ingredients anywhere in the crafting grid.^[3]

Then: Extractor

The Extractor extracts items and fluids out of the environment. In this pack it also has a machine recipe that turns leaves and logs into Resin, which makes it a handy early machine to build.^[3][4]

Automate your crafting

Once you have a Machine Base, build the Fabricator. It crafts items automatically, which saves you a lot of clicking later. The Item IO is the next block to make: its fill or drain side can be toggled with a wrench.^[3][4]

Fluids and tanks

When you want to work with fluids, the Valve allows the creation of tanks. The Hydro Pump then automatically pumps water into a connected tank. Its recipe also needs a Water Block, so the Water Block recipe is shown below too.^[3][4]

XyCraft Machines covers three jobs: pulling resources out of the world, moving items and fluids around, and crafting automatically. The sources don't spell out every detail, so this section sticks to what the mod's own text and the pack's recipes confirm.^[5][6]

Machine Base and ports

Several machines, such as the Fabricator, Item IO and Fluid Void, are built from the Machine Base. The mod also has Item, Fluid and Energy ports. The recipes for the Item Port and Fluid Port are shown below.^[5][6]

Item handling and automation

• The Collector is filterable and collects items before they become item entities, so nothing ends up lying on the ground.^[5]
• The Item IO has a fill side and a drain side, and you toggle which is which with a wrench.^[5]
• The Fabricator crafts items automatically. Its screen offers three modes: Always On, High Signal and Pulse.^[5]
• The Void Container has a black hole inside and can be used to void things.^[5]

Fluids and tanks

The Valve block is what lets you build tanks, and it has a maximum tank size. The tooltip shows that size as a placeholder, so the number isn't confirmed here. There is also a Fluid Pipe block, and the Jade plugin can show Tank Info with the tank's capacity.^[5]

The Hydro Pump automatically pumps water into a connected tank. It has a base rate per cycle and a higher rate when it is waterlogged, and you can extract from it at a higher rate too. The tooltip leaves both rate numbers as placeholders.^[5]

The Fluid Void stops fluids from flowing into adjacent blocks. That is handy for keeping a fluid where you want it.^[5]

Extracting from the environment

The Extractor pulls items and fluids out of the environment, and Jade has an Extractor Info component for it. The pack has extractor recipes that produce Resin and Ore Slurry, shown below.^[5][6]

There is also a separate recipe type called ore_tap. Its ore slurry recipe has no item inputs and makes 100 Ore Slurry.^[6]

Processing recipes

Beyond crafting-table recipes, the pack has recipes for a blender, an ark melter and an atmospheric vacuum. Here is what each one does.^[6]

• Blender: 50 Heavy Oil Residue and 100 water make 100 Fuel.^[6]
• Blender: 100 water and 900 resin make one Block of Resin.^[6]
• Blender: 100 Liquid Nitrogen and 1,000 Shaken Milk make one Ice Cream.^[6]
• Ark melter: 100 water become 100 Steam.^[6]
• Atmospheric vacuum: no inputs, and it makes 100 Nitrogen.^[6]

You can also pack 9 Resin Ball into one Block of Resin and unpack it again by hand.^[6]

Power

The mod has a Charger that charges items using external energy. It also has an Energy Port, an Energy Pipe and a Power Core.^[5]

The pack's quest book gives XyCraft Machines its own chapter, "xycraft", with 26 quests. It walks you from the first Kivi pickup up through ports, pipes, utility machines and the colour-coded gem machines. This is the order it follows.^[2]

Step 1: Kivi and the basics

The chapter has a few quests with no prerequisite: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", and two untitled ones. Four quests unlock after Kivi: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". In other words, Kivi is the gateway to almost everything else in the chapter.^[2]

The Machine Base is the core part of most machines in this chapter, and one craft gives you 2 of them.^[6]

Step 2: the item branch

After a quest in "?" the book sends you to a quest in "?". From there it splits: a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" each unlock after both the Soaryn Box and the Item Port. a quest in "?" also needs both of those quests done.^[2]

A single craft of the Soaryn Box gives you 2 boxes, so you don't need to craft many.^[6]

Step 3: the fluid branch

a quest in "?" leads to three quests: a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". The Fluid Pipe quest asks for the Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe from any of several mods, including Pipez, Modern Dynamics, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering. A final quest for plain glass unlocks once you have done the Fluid Port, Valve, Item IO and Fluid Pipe quests.^[2]

Step 4: Xychorium gem machines

The Xychorium gem quests are Blue, Dark, Green, Light and Red, and each one follows an untitled quest. Each colour then unlocks one machine, and every one of those machine quests also requires the Machine Base quest.^[2]

The Extractor has its own quest after Kivi, and the Buffer and Foil have recipes but no quest in this chapter.^[2][6]

The recipe for the Perfected Gauntlet is marked as changed by the pack. It is a netherite smithing upgrade of the Improved Gauntlet.^[6]

XyCraft Machines doesn't lean heavily on other mods in this pack. The sources show two real connections: one quest that accepts pipes from other mods, and one refinery recipe that involves an item from the XyCraft world content.^[2][6]

Pipes for the Hydro Pump

The quest a quest in "?" asks you to get the Hydro Pump and also a fluid pipe. You don't need a specific pipe mod, because the quest accepts any one of several options. It follows the quest for the Fluid Port, a quest in "?".^[2]

Use whichever pipe network you already have. The quest list doesn't say how the Hydro Pump connects to those pipes in play, so I'm not going to guess at that.^[2]

Aluminum from ore slurry

The refinery has an aluminum recipe, shown below. Ore Slurry and Nitrogen both belong to the machines mod, while the Aluminum Ingot belongs to the xycraft_world namespace. The recipe is marked as a mod recipe, and nothing in the sources shows the pack changing it.^[6]

Everything else stays in the family

The other quests in the xycraft chapter, such as the Collector, Fabricator and Accelerated Planter quests, only ask for XyCraft items. They don't connect to other mods.^[2]

All of this mod's quests live in one chapter of the pack's quest book, called "xycraft". It has 26 quests, and every one asks you to hand in an item (one is just a checkmark), so you progress by crafting or collecting things rather than by doing tasks.^[2]

Where the chapter starts

Four quests have nothing before them: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", and two untitled ones. One untitled quest is a simple checkmark and the other asks for an item. The five gem quests come after an untitled quest, though the book entry doesn't say which of the two.^[2]

The Kivi branch

a quest in "?" unlocks four quests: a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Those ask for Machine Base, Fluid Port, Item Port and Extractor.^[2]

Fluid side

1. a quest in "?" comes first and opens the rest of the fluid line.^[2]
2. a quest in "?" asks for a Hydro Pump plus a fluid pipe. Several pipes from different mods are accepted, including Pipez, Modern Dynamics, Mekanism and Immersive Engineering ones.^[2]
3. a quest in "?" and a quest in "?" also unlock after the Fluid Port quest. They ask for Item IO and Valve.^[2]
4. a quest in "?" is the capstone of this group. It asks for minecraft:glass and unlocks only after Fluid Port, Valve, Item IO and Fluid Pipe are all done.^[2]

Item side

a quest in "?" leads to a quest in "?", which asks for the Soaryn Box. Once you have that, three quests open up, and each also needs Item Port done: a quest in "?" for the Collector, a quest in "?" for the Fabricator, and a quest in "?" for the Void Container.^[2]

Gems and the machines that need them

The Xychorium gem quests are a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?", a quest in "?" and a quest in "?". Each one pairs with Machine Base to unlock a machine quest:^[2]

• Blue gems and Machine Base unlock a quest in "?" (Water Block).^[2]
• Dark gems and Machine Base unlock a quest in "?" (Fluid Void).^[2]
