What is Sophisticated Core?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Sophisticated Core is included in this pack at version 1.0.5, shipped as the Minecraft 1.21.1 build sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.0.5.813.jar. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Core does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so I'm not making claims about those. Check back once more detail is available.
How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?
3 parts
Sophisticated Core has very little to craft by itself, so there is no long list of first items. The sources I have confirm one crafted item from it, plus the screen controls you will use as soon as you open a backpack or storage.[2][3]
Craft the Ender Linker
The one item from this mod with a recipe in the pack's recipe dump is the Ender Linker. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. The block below shows the exact in-pack recipe.[2]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: sophisticatedcore:ender_linker
The recipe dump marks this crafting recipe as changed by the pack, so this is the pack's version.
Learn the storage screen buttons
Once a storage is open, the mod's own screen text shows a few buttons worth learning early. They save a lot of inventory juggling.[3]
- Sort Inventory tidies the storage, and there are sort options By Count, By Mod, By Name and By Tags.[3]
- Transfer to Inventory and Transfer to Storage move items between your inventory and the storage.[3]
- There are also Transfer Matching to Inventory and Transfer Matching to Storage buttons, and their label says Shift To Transfer All.[3]
- One button opens an expanded output list with search. If nothing matches, the screen tells you "No items match the search".[3]
Check the settings
The settings screen has a few toggles you may want to flip right away. Keep Search Phrase makes the screen keep your search and filter by it when you open it again. Keep Tab Open makes it remember which upgrade tab was open last.[3]
There is also a Player context for settings. Its tooltip says it applies to all backpacks and storages unless overridden. You can save your settings to a slot and load them later, and you scroll to change the slot.[3]
How does Sophisticated Core work?
6 parts
Sophisticated Core's language file shows what it handles: the inventory screen, the upgrade rules and the settings that backpacks and storage blocks share. The sources here only cover that screen text, one config file and one recipe, so this section sticks to those.[3]
Sorting, searching and transferring
The screen has a Sort Inventory button, and you can sort by count, by mod, by name or by tags. In the search box, start with @ to search by mod name. If nothing matches, the screen tells you no items match the search.[3]
There are also buttons to transfer to your inventory or to the storage, plus "Transfer Matching" versions of each. The tooltip on the matching buttons says Shift transfers all.[3]
Settings that change how the screen behaves
- Keep Search Phrase: when ON, the screen keeps your search and filters by it the next time you open it. When OFF, it clears the search on close and shows everything again.[3]
- Keep Tab Open: when ON, the storage remembers which upgrade tab was open and reopens it next time. When OFF, all tabs start closed.[3]
- Shift click behaviour: you can choose whether a shift click tries your inventory or storage first, or an open upgrade tab first.[3]
- Player context: player level settings apply to all backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them.[3]
Slot settings
- Memory: slots remember their contents and only allow matching stacks. Left click or drag selects a slot, right click or drag unselects it, and there are Select All and Unselect All buttons.[3]
- No Sort: slots you pick here are ignored when you sort.[3]
- Item Display: you pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage.[3]
You can save your settings to a numbered slot and load them again. Scroll to change the slot, and you can give a slot a custom name. If the settings don't fit in a storage, loading tells you so. You can also export settings under a file name you enter, which creates a data pack with an snbt file.[3]
Upgrade rules
The mod enforces some limits when you add or remove upgrades, and it shows an error message when you break one of them.[3]
- Only one Battery Upgrade can sit in the upgrade slots at a time.[3]
- Two Tank Upgrades are the limit: you get an error if two are already in other upgrade slots.[3]
- A battery or tank upgrade can be refused if the backpack's capacity is too low. The message tells you to upgrade the backpack or add a stack multiplier.[3]
- Removing an upgrade can be blocked if a slot or another upgrade still needs a higher stack limit.[3]
- Only admins can remove an Infinity Upgrade.[3]
Ender Linker
The Ender Linker is the one item registered under Sophisticated Core's own namespace in the sources. The pack changed its crafting recipe, so don't rely on the mod's default.[2]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: sophisticatedcore:ender_linker
This is the pack's changed recipe for the Ender Linker.
When linking fails, the game gives you one of these messages: the storage is already linked, the storage has contents, the storage is incompatible with the linked storage group, or the storage cannot be linked.[3]
What the pack's config changes
The pack sets common.enabledItems to a long list of item ids, each marked true or false. The file's own comment says this option enables or disables items and, by extension, their recipes.[4]
The two omega tier stack upgrades, Stack Upgrade Omega Tier and Stack Upgrade Omega Tier, are set to false in this pack, so they are disabled here.[4]
How do you progress through Sophisticated Core?
Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide
The sources for this pack show no tier ladder for this mod, so there is no tier breakdown to walk through here. The one thing they cover is the Ender Linker.[5]
The Ender Linker uses a shaped crafting recipe, and the pack has changed it. Don't rely on the mod's default recipe. Here is the exact in-pack version:[5]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: sophisticatedcore:ender_linker
This is the pack's changed shaped recipe for the Ender Linker, not the mod default.
How does Sophisticated Core work with other mods?
1 part
The one cross-mod link I can confirm for Sophisticated Core in this pack is a pair of recipes added by the pack. They use Xp Still together with an item from Create, and they are crafted in Integrated Dynamics machines.[2]
Integrated Dynamics drying basin recipes
The pack adds two recipes that take Xp Still and Block of Experience. One is made in the Integrated Dynamics drying basin and the other in the mechanical drying basin. These are pack additions, not defaults from the mods themselves.[2]
Drying Basin (integrateddynamics)
Recipe id: integrateddynamics:kjs/18bchsp5b2lr39j5t2si2g8is
This pack-added recipe uses the Integrated Dynamics drying basin.
Mechanical Drying Basin (integrateddynamics)
Recipe id: integrateddynamics:kjs/6fpaoltt1akxjazhvleuxqwet
This pack-added recipe uses the Integrated Dynamics mechanical drying basin.
Which Sophisticated Core config options matter?
2 parts
The setting you are most likely to care about in Sophisticated Core is common.enabledItems. It is a list of item ids, each followed by |true or |false. The file's own comment says you can disable or enable any items here, and that disabling an item disables its recipes.[4]
In this pack the list covers items from Sophisticated Backpacks, Sophisticated Storage and the storage in motion addon (the minecart and boat). Nearly every entry is set to true.[4]
What this pack turns off
Only two entries are set to false, and both are the omega tier stack upgrades. If you go looking for a top-end stack upgrade, you won't find these two in this pack.[4]
- Stack Upgrade Omega Tier is set to false, so the backpack version is disabled.[4]
- Stack Upgrade Omega Tier is set to false, so the storage version is disabled.[4]
The regular stack upgrades are still enabled: tiers 1 to 4 for backpacks, and tiers 1 to 5 for storage. The backpack starter tier stack upgrade is enabled too, and so are the stack downgrades, tiers 1 to 3, for both backpacks and storage.[4]
Other things that stay on
Everything else listed is enabled. That includes all the backpack tiers (copper, iron, gold, diamond and netherite), the barrels, chests and shulker boxes in every material tier, the controller, the storage link and the storage IO blocks. The infinity and survival infinity upgrades are on for both backpacks and storage.[4]
