What is Sophisticated Core?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide
Sophisticated Core is included in this pack at version 1.0.5, shipped as the Minecraft 1.21.1 build sophisticatedcore-1.21.1-1.0.5.813.jar. It has been in the pack since version 0.32 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe what Sophisticated Core does in gameplay, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. They also don't show it on the ATM Star path or tied to any quests, so I'm not making claims about those. Check back once more detail is available.
How do you get started with Sophisticated Core?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.6.0-beta guide
Here's the honest picture for this one: the sources I have for Sophisticated Core only cover its screen text, not any recipes, quests or configs. So I can't give you a crafting order or point you to a recipe for this mod. What I can do is show you the tools its inventory screens give you, so you know what to look for once you have a backpack or storage block open.[2]
Sorting and moving items
The storage screen has a Sort Inventory button. You can sort by count, by mod, by name or by tags, which helps a lot once your storage fills up with modded items.[2]
There are also transfer buttons: Transfer to Inventory and Transfer to Storage. Each has a filtered version that moves only matching items, and the tooltip says to hold Shift to transfer all.[2]
The screen also has a search box. If nothing matches, it tells you "No items match the search".[2]
Settings worth checking early
- Keep Search Phrase: when it is OFF, the screen clears your search when you close it and shows everything the next time you open it. When it is ON, it keeps the phrase and filters by it again on reopening.[2]
- Keep Tab Open: when it is ON, the storage remembers which upgrade tab was last open and reopens it next time. When it is OFF, all tabs start closed.[2]
- Player-level settings apply to all backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them.[2]
- Settings templates: you can save your settings to a slot, load them from a slot, and export them to a data pack as an snbt file.[2]
Upgrade slot rules
The error messages hint at how upgrades behave. You can't have a second Battery Upgrade in another upgrade slot. The game also warns that there are already two Tank Upgrades when you try to add more. If a backpack can't support a battery or tank upgrade, the message tells you to upgrade the backpack or add a stack multiplier. Only admins can remove an Infinity Upgrade.[2]
Unverified The first items to craft for this mod, and their recipes in this pack, could not be confirmed from the available sources.
How does Sophisticated Core work?
5 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.8.0 guide
Sophisticated Core has no machines or multiblocks of its own in what the pack's sources show. What they do show is the shared screen and settings system that backpacks and storages use: sorting, transferring, searching, per-slot settings and the rules for fitting upgrades. That's what this section covers.[3]
Sorting and transferring
Each storage screen has a Sort Inventory button. You can sort by count, by mod, by name or by tags. There are also buttons to transfer to inventory and transfer to storage, plus "matching" versions that only move stacks matching what is already on the other side. Hold Shift with the matching buttons to transfer everything.[3]
Shift clicking has its own setting. It can try your inventory or storage first and only then an open upgrade tab, or it can put the stack into an open tab first.[3]
Searching
The search box says "Click to search", and starting your search with @ looks items up by mod name. If nothing matches, you get a "No items match the search" message. A setting lets the screen keep your search phrase and filter by it when you reopen it. With that off, the phrase is cleared on close and every item shows again.[3]
Slot settings tabs
The settings screen has a Player context. Settings there apply to all backpacks and storages unless a specific one overrides them. In the slot-based tabs, left click or drag selects slots and right click or drag unselects them. Select All and Unselect All buttons are there too.[3]
- Memory: chosen slots remember their contents and only allow matching stacks in them.[3]
- No Sort: chosen slots are ignored when you sort.[3]
- Item Display: pick a slot whose item is shown on top of the storage. The display can be on the front, left or right side.[3]
There is also a Keep Tab Open option. When it is on, the storage remembers which upgrade tab was open and reopens it next time. When it is off, all tabs start closed.[3]
Saving and sharing settings
You can save your settings to a slot and load them again, and scrolling changes the slot. You can also export settings, which creates a data pack with an snbt file. If a saved layout needs more setting slots than the storage has, you get a "Settings don't fit in this storage" message.[3]
Upgrade rules
Each upgrade has an ON, OFF or INACTIVE switch on its tab. The screen text names Advanced Alchemy, Advanced Compacting, Advanced Feeding, Advanced Filter, Jukebox, Advanced Magnet, Advanced Pickup, Advanced Pump and Advanced Void settings, among others. The list is cut off in the sources I have.[3]
The error messages show what stops you adding or removing an upgrade:[3]
- Only one Battery Upgrade can be installed at a time. If the backpack's max energy is too low for it, you need a bigger backpack or a stack multiplier.[3]
- Only two Tank Upgrades can be present. Tanks also need enough capacity, again from a bigger backpack or a stack multiplier.[3]
- Some upgrades need every upgrade slot to be empty before they can be added.[3]
- Some upgrades need the last few inventory slots to be free, so an item sitting in one of them blocks the upgrade.[3]
- Some upgrades are limited to a single copy, or to a set number, per backpack or storage.[3]
- Removing an upgrade can be blocked by an item that must come out first, or by a slot or upgrade that needs a higher stack multiplier.[3]
- Only admins can remove the Infinity Upgrade.[3]
Unverified The pack's values in config/sophisticatedcore-common.toml could not be confirmed from the sources provided, so nothing here states what the pack changed. Machines, multiblocks, power and fluid networks, and automation setups are not explained in the available sources either.
How does Sophisticated Core work with other mods?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
The one cross-mod link I can confirm for Sophisticated Core in this pack is a pair of recipes added by the pack. They use Xp Still together with an item from Create, and they are crafted in Integrated Dynamics machines.[4]
Integrated Dynamics drying basin recipes
The pack adds two recipes that take Xp Still and Block of Experience. One is made in the Integrated Dynamics drying basin and the other in the mechanical drying basin. These are pack additions, not defaults from the mods themselves.[4]
Drying Basin (integrateddynamics)
Recipe id: integrateddynamics:kjs/18bchsp5b2lr39j5t2si2g8is
This pack-added recipe uses the Integrated Dynamics drying basin.
Mechanical Drying Basin (integrateddynamics)
Recipe id: integrateddynamics:kjs/6fpaoltt1akxjazhvleuxqwet
This pack-added recipe uses the Integrated Dynamics mechanical drying basin.
