What is Shrink?

1 part

Shrink adds the Personal Shrinking Device, and this pack ships Shrink 2.0.1.47. The quest book describes it in one line: you use the item to shrink. It calls the device helpful for working on automation and also just overall fun.[1][2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The device has its own quest, "Personal Shrinking Device" quest, titled "Personal Shrinking Device" with the subtitle "Honey I Shrunk Myself". It lives in the "Tips and Tricks" chapter, which has 12 quests. The quest asks you to obtain the device, and the book lists no earlier quest you have to finish first.[2]

Nothing in the book builds on it directly, but it is one of five quests that lead into the chapter's final checkmark quest, "Complete all the tips!" (a quest in "Tips and Tricks"). The other four are "Infinite Water" quest, "Simple Magnets" quest, "Charging Gadgets" quest and "Iron Jetpacks" quest. You can do them in any order and finish with the checkmark.[2]

Tip: Don't mix this up with the device from the "Building Tips" chapter. The Compact Machines quest there ("Compact Machines" quest) asks for a different item, the Personal Shrinking Device that belongs to Compact Machines. It is used to enter and leave compact machine rooms.[3]

The "Building Tips" chapter has 67 quests, but the book text for 48 of them isn't covered here, so check the quest book itself for the rest of that chapter.[3]

How do you get started with Shrink?

4 parts

The one item this mod adds that you need to know about first is the Personal Shrinking Device. Making it is your first step with Shrink in this pack.[4][5]

The pack's quest book explains what it is for in the quest "Personal Shrinking Device" quest, in the Tips and Tricks chapter. You use it to shrink yourself, and the quest calls that helpful for working on automation and also just overall fun.[2]

Step 1: Craft the device

This pack changes the device's recipe, so don't go by what you remember from other packs. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

Crafting Shaped
any iron ingotany ender pearlany iron ingot
any iron ingotGlassany iron ingot
any iron ingotStone Buttonany iron ingot

Recipe id: shrink:shrinking_device

The pack changes this recipe from the mod's own.

Step 2: Check the keybind

Shrink adds a keybind called Toggle Shrink, listed under the Shrink category in your controls. Open your controls screen and look it up so you know which key you will be using.[5]

Step 3: Capturing shrunken mobs

The mod's mob bottle tooltip says you right-click a shrunken entity with a glass bottle to capture it.[5]

Where it sits in the quest book

The Personal Shrinking Device quest is one of the tips in the Tips and Tricks chapter. The chapter's final quest, "Complete all the tips!", comes after it, along with Infinite Water, Simple Magnets, Charging Gadgets and Iron Jetpacks.[2]

Watch out: Don't mix this up with the Compact Machines quest "Compact Machines" quest in the Building Tips chapter. It also mentions a Personal Shrinking Device for entering compact machines, but the item it asks for uses the compactmachines namespace, not the shrink one.[3]

How does Shrink work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide

The sources for Shrink cover one item, one keybind and the glass bottle capture: the Personal Shrinking Device and what you can do with it. They do not describe machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation, so this section stays short.[6][7]

The Personal Shrinking Device

The Personal Shrinking Device is made with a shaped crafting recipe, and the pack has changed that recipe. The block below shows the exact in-pack version.[7]

This is the pack's changed version of the Personal Shrinking Device recipe.

The mod adds a keybind called Toggle Shrink, listed under its own Shrink category in the controls.[6]

Capturing shrunken entities

The mod's glass bottle has a tooltip that tells you how to capture something: right-click a shrunken entity with the bottle. Once the bottle is filled, the tooltip shows "Contains" followed by what is inside, and it can also show a second name in brackets.[6]

How do you progress through Shrink?

2 parts

There isn't a tier ladder to climb with this mod. In this pack it shows up as one item, the Personal Shrinking Device, and the quest book gives it a single quest.[2][4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Personal Shrinking Device" quest lives in the Tips and Tricks chapter, the one with useful items and info to help you on your journey. It asks you to obtain the device, and the book describes it as helpful for working on automation and also just overall fun.[2]

It's one of several tips that feed into the chapter's last quest, a quest in "Tips and Tricks" (Complete all the tips!). The others it sits alongside are Infinite Water, Simple Magnets, Charging Gadgets and Iron Jetpacks.[2]

Crafting it

The pack changes this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's defaults. This is the in-pack recipe:[4]

Tip: Don't mix this up with the quest "Compact Machines" quest in the Building Tips chapter. That quest asks for an item from the compactmachines namespace, not the item from this mod, and its text talks about entering Compact Machines.[3]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Shrink?

2 parts

In this pack the Shrink mod only shows up in one quest, and it sits in the "Tips and Tricks" chapter, which has 12 quests in total. That chapter is a collection of handy items and info for your journey.[2]

Honey I Shrunk Myself

The quest "Personal Shrinking Device" quest asks you to obtain the Personal Shrinking Device. The quest book describes it as an item you use to shrink, helpful for working on automation and also just overall fun. The quest isn't listed as coming after any other quest, so you can pick it up whenever you like.[2]

Where it fits in the chapter

The chapter ends with a quest in "Tips and Tricks", a checkmark quest called "Complete all the tips!". It comes after five quests, and the shrinking device is one of them. The other four are these:[2]

Tip: Don't mix this up with the Building Tips quest "Compact Machines" quest. Its task is a Compact Machines item that is also named Personal Shrinking Device, but it uses a different id (compactmachines:personal_shrinking_device) from the Shrink mod's item. It is a separate item from the Shrink mod's.[2][3]
