What is Rechiseled?

2 parts

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants with connected textures. It adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, and most of them also come with stairs and slabs. The connected textures link between the full block, the stairs and the slab of a variant. This pack ships Rechiseled 1.1.6+a.[1][2]

How you use it

Everything runs through the Chisel. Right-click it to open the chiseling screen, where you put in a block, preview its variants and pick one. Left-click a placed block to change it to a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block works as a filter, so left-clicks turn blocks into that exact variant.[1]

The pack's quest book describes the screen too. You choose the design on the left and put blocks in at the bottom right. You can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and toggle whether the preview spins. Clicking the chisel next to the block slot applies the selected design to every changeable block in your inventory.[3]

Tip: The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as often as you like. If your blocks aren't connecting, most blocks come in versions with and without connecting textures. Use the button at the bottom right of the chiseling screen to toggle between them.[1][3]

Where it sits in the quest book

Rechiseled has its own quest, "Rechiseled" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter, and the quest asks you to obtain the chisel. It comes after "Changing Blocks" quest, which in turn follows "Tools!" quest, which follows "Building Tips!" quest.[3]

The "Changing Blocks" quest also leads to two other block-changing mods, "Chisel Reborn" quest and "Chipped" quest. The chapter has 66 quests in total, and only some of them are covered here, so check the quest book itself for the rest.[3]

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

4 parts

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants with connected textures, and the whole mod works through one tool: the Chisel. The mod adds 600+ decorative variants of vanilla blocks, so the chisel is the first thing to make.[1][3]

Craft the chisel

The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the chisel, so use the one below rather than anything you remember from other packs.[4]

The quest book has a "Rechiseled" quest quest that asks you for the chisel. In the "Building Tips" chapter the path goes from "Building Tips!" quest to "Tools!" quest, then "Changing Blocks" quest, then the Rechiseled quest. "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest also sit after Changing Blocks, as other ways to change blocks.[3]

Learn the chiseling screen

  1. Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1][3]
  2. Put the block you want to change into the slot at the bottom right. Pick the design you like from the list on the left.[3]
  3. Check the preview above the slot. It can show a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and a button lets the image spin or stay still.[3]
  4. Take the new block out. Stairs and slabs of most variants can be taken from the same screen.[1]
  5. If blocks do not connect, use the toggle button at the bottom right of the screen. Most blocks have a version with and without connecting textures.[1]
Tip: Click the chisel icon next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed. That saves a lot of time when you are building in bulk.[3]
Tip: The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as often as you like.[1][3]

Chisel blocks in the world

You can also left-click a placed block with the chisel to change it without opening the screen. With nothing stored in the chisel, the block becomes a random variant. If a block is stored in the chisel, it acts as a filter and left-clicked blocks change to that variant.[1]

A pack-specific extra: polishing

The pack adds a sandpaper polishing recipe that turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[4]

How does Rechiseled work?

4 parts

Rechiseled is a simple mod on the surface, but it has a few details worth knowing. It has no machines, power or fluids in what the sources show. Everything runs through one tool, the Chisel, which swaps blocks between decorative variants with connected textures. The mod adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks.[1]

Getting the chisel

The pack adds its own recipe for the chisel, so don't assume the mod's default applies. Here is the in-pack recipe:[4]

This shaped crafting recipe is added by the pack.

The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]

The chiseling screen

Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen. You put a block in and preview all of its variants. From there you can swap the block for any variant, or for the stairs and slabs of that variant.[1]

Most blocks come in a version with connecting textures and one without. A button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between the two. If your blocks aren't connecting, this is the first thing to check.[1]

Chiseling blocks in the world

You don't have to pull blocks out of the world to change them. Left-click a placed block with the chisel and it turns into a random variant.[1]

If you store a block in the chisel first, it acts as a filter. Any block you left-click is then transformed into that stored variant. This is the quickest way to restyle a whole wall.[1]

Tip: Most variants also have stairs and slabs, and the connecting textures link up between the full block, the stairs and the slabs of the same variant. You can build smooth, matching shapes without any extra setup.[1]

Polishing with Create

The pack adds one sandpaper polishing recipe for Rechiseled blocks, through Create: Dragons Plus. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting using the sandpaper polishing type from Create. You can see the exact recipe here:[4]

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

4 parts

Rechiseled doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. Progression comes down to one quest, one tool and one pack-added polishing recipe, so it's quick to get going.[3][4]

Where it sits in the quest book

Rechiseled lives in the Building Tips chapter, which has 66 quests. The path runs from "Building Tips!" quest to "Tools!" quest (which asks for a Stick), then to "Changing Blocks" quest, and finally to "Rechiseled" quest.[3]

The Rechiseled quest asks you to get the Chisel. It shares its parent with a few other block-changing quests: "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest. You can tackle them in any order.[3]

Step 1: craft the Chisel

The pack added its own recipe for the Chisel. It's a shaped crafting recipe, and the block below shows the exact layout.[4]

Step 2: use it

Right click with the Chisel to open its GUI. You pick the design on the left and put your blocks in the bottom right. Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and a button toggles whether the preview spins.[3]

Clicking the Chisel next to the block slot applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed. The quest also notes that this Chisel has no durability, so you never need to repair or replace it.[3]

Step 3: polish (optional)

The pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. It's the only other Rechiseled recipe in the pack's recipe dump.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Rechiseled?

2 parts

Rechiseled appears in just one chapter of the pack's quest book: Building Tips, a 66-quest chapter about building tools, blocks and decoration. The mod has a single quest of its own there, "Rechiseled" quest.[3]

Where it sits in the chapter

The chapter starts with "Building Tips!" quest. From there you go to "Tools!" quest, which asks for a stick. After that comes "Changing Blocks" quest, which is about turning blocks you already have into ones with different shapes and designs. The Rechiseled quest comes directly after that one.[3]

Three other quests also follow Changing Blocks: "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest and "Framed Blocks" quest. They cover other block-changing mods, so you can do them in whatever order you like.[3]

What the Rechiseled quest asks for

The quest asks you to get the Chisel. The quest text describes Rechiseled as a continuation of Chiseled, and says everything in the mod works through the chisel.[3]

Here is how the quest says to use it:[3]

  • Right Click with the chisel to open its GUI.[3]
  • You pick the design on the left, and the blocks go in the bottom right.[3]
  • Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, as 3x1 blocks, or as a 3x3 wall of that block.[3]
  • A button lets you set the preview image to spin or not spin.[3]
  • Next to the block slot you can click the chisel to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[3]
  • The chisel has no durability.[3]
Tip: The quest only asks you to have the chisel, so there is no extra crafting chain to follow for it. If you want to see how the other chisel-style mods in this chapter work, "Chisel Reborn" quest and "Chipped" quest are right next to it.[3]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

1 part

Rechiseled has a very short history in this pack. All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.2.1 ships Rechiseled 1.1.6+a, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0 or earlier.[2]

Mod changelog

  • 1.1.6: the initial release of Rechiseled for Minecraft 1.20.5 and 1.20.6.[5]
  • 1.1.6a: fixed missing mining tags for chiseled blocks. This is the version the pack includes.[2][5]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Rechiseled were available, so changes the pack itself made to this mod across its releases are unconfirmed.
