What is Rechiseled?
2 parts
Rechiseled is a building mod. It lets you swap blocks into decorative variants, many of them with connected textures, so your builds look much more detailed. The mod page lists 600+ decorative variants of vanilla blocks. If you like building bases, castles or sky islands that look good, this one is for you.[1]
The chisel
Everything runs through the Chisel. Right-click it to open the chiseling screen. Left-click a block to swap it for another variant. The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as often as you like.[1][2]
- Chiseling screen: put a block in to preview all its variants and swap between them, including their stairs and slabs.[1]
- In-world chiseling: left-click an already placed block to turn it into a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored, that block works as a filter and clicked blocks become that variant.[1]
- Stairs and slabs: most variants have both, and the connecting textures link between the full block, stairs and slab of a variant.[1]
In this pack
The pack includes Rechiseled 1.1.6+a for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[3]
The mod shows up in the quest book too. The building_tips chapter has the quest a quest in "?", whose task is the Chisel. It unlocks after another quest.[2]
How do you get started with Rechiseled?
4 parts
Rechiseled is all about decorative building, and everything starts with one tool: the Chisel. Make it first, because it is how you swap blocks between their decorative variants. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, many with connected textures.[1][4]
Craft the chisel
This pack uses its own recipe for the chisel, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod's default. Check the recipe below for exactly what it needs here.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Empty slot | any steel ingot |
| Empty slot | any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/rechiseled_chisel
This chisel recipe is added by the pack.
The building tips chapter of the pack's quest book also has a quest, a quest in "?", whose task is to get the chisel. It comes after another quest in the same chapter.[2]
Learn the two ways to chisel
- Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in and you can preview all its variants, and swap between them and their stairs and slabs.[1]
- Left-click a placed block to change it in the world. With nothing stored in the chisel you get a random variant.[1]
- If you store a block in the chisel, it acts as a filter. Any block you left-click turns into that specific variant.[1]
Sort out connecting textures
If your blocks aren't connecting, nothing is broken. Most blocks come in versions with and without connecting textures. Use the button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to toggle between them. Connecting textures also link between the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant.[1]
Polishing with Create
This pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[4]
Sandpaper Polishing (create)
Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_connecting
This polishing recipe is added by the pack.
How does Rechiseled work?
6 parts
Rechiseled is a simple mod with one main tool: the Chisel. It swaps decorative blocks between their variants, and many of those variants have connected textures. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks. Here is how it all works.[1]
Getting the chisel
In this pack the chisel has its own crafting recipe, added by the pack. Here it is.[4]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Empty slot | any steel ingot |
| Empty slot | any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/rechiseled_chisel
This is the pack's recipe for the chisel.
The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]
Using the chisel
- Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1]
- Left-click a block with the chisel to swap it between its decorative variants.[1]
The chiseling screen
Put a block into the screen and you can preview all of its variants. You can also swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs.[1]
Most blocks come in a version with connecting textures and one without. A button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between them. If your blocks are not connecting, check that button first.[1]
Chiseling blocks in the world
You do not have to pick blocks up first. Left-click an already placed block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant.[1]
Stairs and slabs
Most of Rechiseled's variants also have stairs and slabs, which you get through the chiseling screen. The connecting textures link up between the full block, the stairs and the slab of the same variant, so mixed builds still look seamless.[1]
Polishing with Create
The pack adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe for one Rechiseled block. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. The recipe comes from Create: Dragons Plus and uses the sandpaper polishing recipe type from Create.[4]
Sandpaper Polishing (create)
Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_connecting
Added by the pack. It polishes the connecting bordered basalt.
How do you progress through Rechiseled?
2 parts
Rechiseled is a short path in this pack. The pack files confirm one quest, one custom chisel recipe and one polishing recipe, so that's what I'll cover.[2][4]
Step 1: Get the chisel
The quest a quest in "?" sits in the building_tips chapter. Its task is to obtain the Chisel, and it unlocks after another quest.[2]
The pack adds its own crafting recipe for the chisel, so don't expect the mod's default. Here is the exact in-pack version:[4]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | Empty slot | any steel ingot |
| Empty slot | any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/rechiseled_chisel
This shaped crafting recipe is added by the pack.
Step 2: Polish connecting blocks
The pack also adds a sandpaper polishing recipe. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[4]
Sandpaper Polishing (create)
Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_connecting
This sandpaper polishing recipe is added by the pack.
Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Rechiseled?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 4.5 guide
This mod shows up in just one quest in the pack, in the building_tips chapter. It's a quick stop rather than a full questline, so don't expect a long chain of chiseling tasks.[5]
Building tips chapter
The quest a quest in "?" has one simple task: get a Chisel. Once you have one, you've completed the only quest in the pack that involves this mod.[5]
This quest isn't open right away. It comes after another quest in the building_tips chapter, so you need to finish that one first before this quest unlocks.[5]
Unverified Which quest comes right before this one, and whether this quest gives any rewards, can't be confirmed here.
What changed in Rechiseled between versions?
1 part
Rechiseled 1.1.6+a is the version in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 1.0.2. It was already in the pack by version 1.0 or earlier, so you haven't missed a mod update since the pack's first releases.[3]
Mod changelog
- 1.1.6: the initial release of Rechiseled for Minecraft 1.20.5 and 1.20.6.[6]
- 1.1.6a: fixed missing mining tags for chiseled blocks. This is the build the pack ships.[3][6]
The mining tag fix is the only change listed in the mod's own changelog for this build. I don't have any pack changelog entries that mention Rechiseled.[6]
