What is Rechiseled?

2 parts

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants that have connected textures. It adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, and most of them also come as stairs and slabs. The pack includes version 1.2.5 of the mod.[1][2]

How the chisel works

Everything runs through the Chisel. Right-click with it to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in and you can preview all its variants, then swap between them and their stairs and slabs. Most blocks come in a connecting and a non-connecting version, and a button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between them. If your blocks aren't connecting, check that button first.[1][3]

You can also work on blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant. If you have a block stored in the chisel, it acts as a filter, and any block you left-click becomes that variant. The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you want.[1]

The pack's quest book adds a few screen details. You pick the design on the left and place blocks at the bottom right. The preview can show 1 block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and you can set it to spin or stay still. Clicking the chisel next to the block slot applies the selected design to every changeable block in your inventory.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

Rechiseled has its own quest, "Rechiseled" quest, in the "Building Tips" chapter, and it asks you to obtain the chisel. It comes right after "Changing Blocks" quest, which introduces mods that turn blocks you already have into different shapes, designs or entirely new blocks.[3]

Going back up the chain, "Changing Blocks" follows "Tools!" quest, which in turn follows "Building Tips!" quest. Two other quests also unlock after "Changing Blocks": "Chisel Reborn" quest and "Chipped" quest. They cover other block-changing mods, so you can compare the three. For anything that comes after Rechiseled, check the chapter in the quest book.[3]

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

3 parts

All of Rechiseled works through one tool, the Chisel, so making it is your first job. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, and you reach them all through the chisel.[1][3]

The pack adds this chisel recipe itself, so follow what the recipe block shows.

Tip: The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you want.[1][3]

Your first chiseling session

  1. Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1][3]
  2. Choose a design on the left, and put your blocks in the slot at the bottom right. Above it you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and a button lets you set the preview to spin or not.[3]
  3. Next to the block slot you can click the chisel icon. That applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[3]
  4. If your blocks look unconnected, use the button at the bottom right of the screen. Most blocks have a version with connecting textures and one without, and the button toggles between them.[1]

You can also chisel blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel to change it to a random variant. If you have a block stored in the chisel, it works as a filter, and any block you left-click becomes that variant.[1]

Most variants also come as stairs and slabs, which you get through the same chiseling screen. The connecting textures link up between the full block, stairs and slab of a variant, so a build that mixes all three looks seamless.[1]

In the quest book

The quest "Rechiseled" quest asks you for the chisel. It sits in the Building Tips chapter, after "Changing Blocks" quest, which itself follows "Tools!" quest. Another block-changing mod, "Chisel Reborn" quest, also follows Changing Blocks.[3]

Polished basalt variants

Once you have bordered basalt variants, the pack adds sandpaper polishing recipes that turn them into bordered polished basalt. For example, Bordered Basalt Slab becomes Bordered Polished Basalt Slab, and the stairs and the connecting versions have their own recipes too. Here is the slab recipe.[4]

How does Rechiseled work?

4 parts

Rechiseled works through one tool, the Chisel, and the chiseling screen it opens. Once you know how those two work, you know how the mod handles its blocks.[1]

The chisel

  • Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1]
  • Left-click a block with the chisel to swap it between its decorative variants.[1]
  • The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]

The pack adds its own recipe for the chisel, so craft it like this:[4]

The chiseling screen

Put a block into the screen and it previews all of its variants. You can swap between those variants and take their stairs and slabs from the same screen.[1]

Most blocks come in two versions, one with connecting textures and one without. A button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between them. If your blocks aren't connecting, check that button first.[1]

Tip: Connecting textures also link up between the full block, the stairs and the slab of the same variant, so you can mix them in one build and the pattern stays seamless.[1]

Chiseling blocks already placed

You don't have to chisel in your inventory. Left-click a placed block and it turns into a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block acts as a filter, and any block you left-click becomes that variant instead.[1]

Polishing with Create sandpaper

The pack adds extra Create sandpaper polishing recipes for the bordered basalt set. Each plain or connecting version is polished into its matching polished version, so the connecting texture style is kept.[4]

Basalt Bordered Connecting polishes into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting:[4]

Bordered Basalt Slab polishes into Bordered Polished Basalt Slab, and the connecting version has its own recipe:[4]

Stairs work the same way: Bordered Basalt Stairs polishes into Bordered Polished Basalt Stairs, with a separate recipe for the connecting pair.[4]

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

4 parts

Rechiseled in this pack centers on one tool, the Chisel. The quest book and the pack's recipes follow it from getting the chisel, to learning its GUI, to polishing bordered basalt with Create.[3][4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The quest "Rechiseled" quest is in the Building Tips chapter, and it asks you to get the chisel. It comes after "Changing Blocks" quest, which in turn comes after "Tools!" quest, which follows the chapter's opening quest "Building Tips!" quest.[3]

Several other block-changing mods hang off the same Changing Blocks quest: "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest, "Framed Blocks" quest and "Camol" quest.[3]

Step 1: craft the chisel

The pack adds its own shaped recipe for the chisel through KubeJS. Here is the exact in-pack recipe:[4]

Shaped (kubejs)

Shaped (kubejs)
Empty slotEmpty slotany steel ingot

Recipe id: kubejs:kjs/rechiseled_chisel

This shaped recipe is added by the pack for the chisel.

Step 2: learn the chisel GUI

The quest explains how the tool works. Right click with the chisel to open its GUI. You pick the design on the left, and the blocks go in the bottom right slot.[3]

Above the block slot you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall. A button lets you set that preview to spin or not spin.[3]

Next to the block slot there is a chisel button. Clicking it applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed. The quest also notes that this chisel has no durability.[3]

Step 3: polished basalt through Create

The pack also adds Create sandpaper polishing recipes for the bordered basalt blocks, through Create Dragons Plus. They turn bordered basalt into its polished version, and each shape has its own recipe: the full block, slabs and stairs, each with a connecting variant.[4]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use Rechiseled?

3 parts

Rechiseled shows up in one quest chapter in the pack, the Building Tips chapter. The chapter has a single Rechiseled quest, "Rechiseled" quest, and it asks you to get the Chisel.[3]

The path to the quest

  1. The chapter opens with "Building Tips!" quest, a general intro to building tips.[3]
  2. "Tools!" quest comes after it and asks for a stick. Its text is about the tools that help you get blocks, get different versions of them and place them.[3]
  3. "Changing Blocks" quest comes after Tools!. It is about mods that turn blocks you already have into ones with different shapes, designs or even entirely new blocks.[3]
  4. "Rechiseled" quest comes after Changing Blocks, and it asks for the Chisel.[3]

What the quest tells you

The quest text describes Rechiseled as a continuation of Chiseled. Everything in the mod works through the chisel: you right click with it to open its GUI.[3]

  • The left side of the GUI is where you choose the design, and the bottom right is where you put the blocks.[3]
  • Above the block slot you can preview the design in set patterns: just 1 block, 3x1 blocks, or a 3x3 wall of that block.[3]
  • A button lets you set the preview image to spin or not spin.[3]
  • Clicking the chisel next to where the blocks go sets the selected design on every block in your inventory that can be changed.[3]
  • The chisel does not have durability.[3]

Other quests at the same step

Rechiseled is not the only quest that follows Changing Blocks. "Chisel Reborn" quest, "Chipped" quest, "Framed Blocks" quest and "Camol" quest also come after it, so you can do them in any order alongside Rechiseled.[3]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

3 parts

All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 ships Rechiseled 1.2.5, and the mod has been in the pack since version 1.0 or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs.[2][5]

1.2.0: the big update

This is the release that changed the most. It added stairs and slabs for all of Rechiseled's decorative blocks and overhauled the chiseling screen.[5]

  • The chiseling screen got a scrollbar, a search field and filters, and it now shows stairs and slabs.[5]
  • It also displays more entries at once and shows an indicator for chiselable blocks in your inventory.[5]
  • You can now chisel blocks by left-clicking them with a chisel.[5]
  • Chiseling recipes can now include stairs and slabs, and stairs and slabs were added for vanilla chiseling recipe entries.[5]
  • Textures now take up 76% less atlas space.[5]
  • Flowers and other vegetation can now be placed on dirt blocks from Rechiseled.[5]
  • JEI and REI integration was improved, and other mods can now register plugins to add or modify chiseling recipes.[5]
  • Tags were added for the blocks, stairs and slabs of each block type.[5]
  • The chiseling screen preview got better lighting, and fixes for internal faces on transparent blocks and for connecting blocks like glass panes.[5]
  • A couple of misaligned textures and crashes with the mod Quad were fixed.[5]

Fixes after 1.2.0

  • 1.2.1: fixed in-world chiseling not working on a server, which matters if you play multiplayer.[5]
  • 1.2.2: fixed being able to get oversized item stacks from the chisel, and a crash when saving a chisel holding a stack larger than 99.[5]
  • 1.2.3: replaced the default JEI scrollbar with custom smooth scrolling, and fixed the Edged Block of Amethyst texture connecting incorrectly.[5]
  • 1.2.4: fixed the chisel stack not always updating when shift-clicking items out of its slot.[5]
  • 1.2.5 (the version in this pack): fixed non-connecting blocks also connecting with Fusion 1.3.0, and fixed the Compacted Coal Block texture.[2][5]

Earlier releases

Version 1.1.6 was the initial release, for Minecraft 1.20.5 and 1.20.6. The follow-up 1.1.6a fixed missing mining tags for chiseled blocks.[5]
