What is Rechiseled?

1 part

Rechiseled is a decorative building mod. It lets you swap blocks into a huge range of decorative variants, many with connected textures. The mod adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, so it's a great pick if you like making your bases look good.[1]

Everything runs through one tool, the Chisel. Right-click with it to open the chiseling screen, where you can put in a block and preview all its variants. You can swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs, and the connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of a variant.[1][2]

You can also chisel blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel to change it to a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block acts as a filter, and any left-clicked blocks are transformed to that variant.[1]

Tip: The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like. If your blocks aren't connecting, use the toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to switch between the versions with and without connecting textures.[1][2]

Where it fits in this pack

This pack includes Rechiseled 1.2.5 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier.[3]

The mod is introduced by the quest "Rechiseled" quest in the Building Tips chapter. It comes after the Changing Blocks quest, and its task is to obtain the chisel. The quest also explains the screen: you pick the design on the left and put blocks in the bottom right. You can preview a design as a single block, a 3x1 row or a 3x3 wall, and you can set the preview to spin or not. Clicking the chisel next to the block slot applies the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[2]

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.12.0 guide

Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants with connected textures. It adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, and you do all of it with one tool. Start there.[1]

Craft the chisel

Everything in Rechiseled starts with the Chisel. Here is the in-pack recipe, and it is the mod's own recipe, so nothing was changed for this pack:[4]

ChiselMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Empty slotany iron ingot
any wooden rodEmpty slot

Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel

The mod's FAQ says the chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like. You only ever need to make one.[1]

Learn the two ways to chisel

  1. Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in and you can preview all of its variants. You can also swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs.[1]
  2. Left-click a block that is already placed to swap it in the world. With nothing stored in the chisel, you get a random variant.[1]
  3. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block acts as a filter. Left-clicked blocks then turn into that specific variant instead of a random one.[1]

Most variants also come as stairs and slabs, which you get from the chiseling screen. The connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant, so you can build whole walls and trims that look seamless.[1]

Tip: If your blocks aren't connecting, most have a version with connecting textures and one without. Use the button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to toggle between them.[1]

Try the pack's Create polishing recipe

This pack adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. It is a pack addition, so you won't find it in the mod on its own.[4]

How does Rechiseled work?

5 parts

Rechiseled is built around one tool, the Chisel. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, and most of them have connected textures. Here's how the chisel works.[1][5]

The chisel

Right-click with the Chisel to open the chiseling screen. Left-click a block to swap it for another decorative variant. The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as often as you like.[1][5]

ChiselMod recipe

Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel

This is the mod's own recipe, and the recipe dump does not mark it as changed by the pack.

The chiseling screen

Put a block into the screen and it previews all of its variants. From there you can swap between the variants and their stairs and slabs. Most blocks come in a version with connecting textures and one without, and the screen lets you toggle between them.[1]

Chiseling blocks in the world

You can change blocks that are already placed. Left-clicking a block with the chisel turns it into a random variant. If you've stored a block in the chisel, that block acts as a filter, and any block you left-click becomes that variant.[1]

Stairs and slabs

Most variants also have stairs and slabs, and you get them through the chiseling screen. Connecting textures link up across the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant, so mixed builds still look seamless.[1]

Tip: If your blocks aren't connecting, open the chiseling screen and use the button in the bottom right to toggle between the connecting and non-connecting versions.[1]

Pack-specific: sandpaper polishing

The pack adds Create sandpaper polishing recipes for the Rechiseled bordered basalt set. Each one turns a bordered basalt piece into its polished version.[5]

Sandpaper Polishing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_connecting

This recipe is added by the pack, and the slab and stairs recipes are added the same way.

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

4 parts

In this pack, Rechiseled's progression is short: one quest, one tool, and a small set of polishing recipes the pack adds. Here is the whole path.[2][5]

The quest

The quest "Rechiseled" quest sits in the Building Tips chapter and comes after the Changing Blocks quest. Its task is to get a Chisel.[2]

Craft the chisel

The chisel uses the mod's own shaped crafting recipe, and the pack has not changed it. Here it is:[5]

ChiselMod recipe

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Empty slotany iron ingot
any wooden rodEmpty slot

Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel

The quest text says the chisel does not have durability.[2]

Using the chisel GUI

  1. Right-click with the chisel to open its GUI.[2]
  2. Choose a design on the left side of the GUI.[2]
  3. Put your blocks in the slot at the bottom right.[2]
  4. Preview the design above the slot as a single block, a 3x1 row, or a 3x3 wall. A button toggles whether the preview spins.[2]
  5. Click the chisel next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[2]

Pack-added polishing recipes

The pack adds Create sandpaper polishing recipes for the bordered basalt blocks. They turn the bordered basalt variants into polished ones, and the connecting versions are included. Polishing covers Basalt Bordered Connecting, the slabs and the stairs. A couple of examples:[5]

Sandpaper Polishing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_slab

The pack's sandpaper polishing turns Bordered Basalt Slab into Bordered Polished Basalt Slab.

Sandpaper Polishing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_stairs

The pack's sandpaper polishing turns Bordered Basalt Stairs into Bordered Polished Basalt Stairs.

The connecting variants follow the same pattern. Polishing Basalt Bordered Connecting gives Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting, and the connecting slabs and stairs have their own recipes.[5]

How does Rechiseled work with other mods?

1 part

The one connection to another mod that this pack's recipes confirm is Create. The Mechanical Chisel comes from the Rechiseled: Create addon, and its in-pack recipe uses items from both Create and Rechiseled.[1][5]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: rechiseledcreate:mechanical_chisel

This is a shapeless recipe, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.

The project page describes the Mechanical Chisel as a way to chisel blocks automatically using contraptions from Create. The same addon also adds 100+ decorative variants for Create blocks.[1]

The regular Chisel works by hand: right-click it to open the chiseling screen, or left-click blocks to swap between their decorative variants. It has no durability, so you can use it as much as you like.[1][2]

What the quest covers

The "Rechiseled" quest quest sits in the Building Tips chapter, right after Changing Blocks. It asks for the chisel and explains how to use the chiseling screen. It doesn't mention any other mod.[2]

Which All the Mods 10 quests use Rechiseled?

1 part

Rechiseled only shows up in one place in the quest book: a single quest in the Building Tips chapter. It's short, so this section is too.[2]

Building Tips: Rechiseled

The quest "Rechiseled" quest has one task, which is to obtain the Chisel. It unlocks after the quest called Changing Blocks, so that's the one to finish first.[2]

The quest text describes the mod as a continuation of Chiseled and says everything works through the chisel. Right-click with it to open its GUI.[2]

  • Pick the design on the left side of the GUI.[2]
  • Put your blocks in the slot at the bottom right.[2]
  • Above the block slot, you can preview the design as a single block, a 3x1 row of blocks, or a 3x3 wall of that block.[2]
  • Click the button to make the preview spin or stay still.[2]
  • Click the chisel next to the block slot to apply the selected design to every block in your inventory that can be changed.[2]
Tip: According to the quest text, the chisel has no durability, so you can reskin as many blocks as you like without worrying about it breaking.[2]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

1 part

Here's how Rechiseled has moved along across the pack's releases. The sources only record version bumps, so there's nothing here about what each Rechiseled update actually changed in-game.[6][7][8][9]

Rechiseled has been in All the Mods 10 since version 2.25 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.1 ships version 1.2.5.[3]

Pack updates

  • All the Mods 10 5.5: updated from 1.1.6+a to 1.2.1.[9]
  • All the Mods 10 6.0: updated from 1.2.1 to 1.2.3.[8]
  • All the Mods 10 6.1: updated from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4.[7]
  • All the Mods 10 7.1: updated from 1.2.4 to 1.2.5.[6]

Rechiseled stays at 1.2.5 in 8.1, so the changelogs show no newer update after 7.1.[3][6]

Unverified The mod's own changelogs for these versions aren't available, so what changed inside Rechiseled itself in each update (new blocks, fixes or recipe changes) is unverified.
