What is ModularBees?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
ModularBees (version 1.21.1-2.5-neoforge in this pack) is all about compact bee processing. Instead of loose hives and single machines, you build multiblocks: a Modular Beehive to make combs and honey, and a Modular Centrifuge to process them. You then customise both by swapping in functional parts.[1][2][3]
The Modular Beehive is a 3x3x3 cube run by its core block. You can replace any structure box with a functional part to improve it, but it doesn't allow shared blocks. It has a built-in simulate upgrade, so your bees never fly out of the hive. They also won't breed or do in-world transformation recipes, which saves performance. In exchange, they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[2]
The core can't hold bees itself. Your bees live in Alveary parts, which hold 5 bees each, and you move bees in and out by right-clicking an Alveary with bee cages. Bees only look for flowers in the Modular Feeder, which holds 9 types of flowers. It can also take a bucket or tank for bees that need a fluid flower.[4][5]
Upgrades and processing
- The Beehive Overclocker uses energy and Electrodes to speed up production, and multiple overclockers stack additively.[6]
- The Beehive Treater feeds your bees extra food so they make more combs.[7]
- The Beehive Stacker raises the stack size of the hive's output inventory.[8]
- Export hatches automatically send products and honey from the hive, or items and fluids from the centrifuge, into the chest or tank they face.[9][10]
- The Modular Centrifuge supports all centrifuge upgrades and starts at the basic centrifuge's 15s process time. You can boost it with a Gearbox, which needs wax, or a Heater, which needs power and makes it work 3 times faster.[3][11][12]
There's more beyond the core machines too. The mod also adds a Modular Dragon Hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees, and a Bee Extractor that pulls genes from a bee into a bottle.[13][14]
Unverified Exactly where ModularBees fits in this pack's overall progression isn't covered by the available sources.
How do you get started with ModularBees?
5 parts
ModularBees turns your bees into a compact 3x3x3 machine. Instead of letting bees fly around, you build a Modular Beehive and upgrade it with functional parts. This is the order I'd tackle things in this pack.[16]
Step 1: Honey Jelly and Scented Planks
Honey Jelly is made in a centrifuge, and it's the base of the whole recipe chain. Make it first.[17]
Next comes the Scented Plank, which the hive parts are built from.[17]

Step 2: Structure Boxes and the Modular Beehive
The Beehive Structure Box is the building block of the multiblock. You can swap any Beehive Structure Box for a functional part later, which is how you upgrade the hive.[16][17]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: modularbees:modular_beehive_part
Then craft the Modular Beehive, the controller of the 3x3x3 cube. Bees inside it don't leave and don't breed. They produce combs and honey, and with upgrades they do it at incredible speed.[16][17]

Step 3: Housing and feeding your bees
The core can't hold bees by itself. You need a Modular Alveary, and each one holds 5 bees. Right-click it with bee cages to put bees in or take them out.[18]

Step 4: Get the output out
The Beehive Export Hatch acts as a proxy of the core and sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces. Set this up early so the hive doesn't clog.[17][20]

Step 5: Upgrade the hive
- Beehive Overclocker: makes bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode, and better electrodes give a bigger boost. Several overclockers add together, so two Netherite Electrodes (+400% each) give x9 (+800%).[21]
- Beehive Treater: feeds bees extra food so they produce more combs. Boosts from several treaters add together, and the boost weakens if the food can't feed every bee.[22]
- Beehive Stacker: raises the output inventory's max stack size. Each one gives a 3x boost by default, and several add together.[23]

How does ModularBees work?
8 parts
ModularBees has big multiblocks: the Modular Beehive for bees and the Modular Centrifuge for combs. Both are built the same way. You place a controller, then swap pieces of the structure for functional parts that upgrade it. Here is how each one works in this pack.[16][24]
Modular Beehive
The Modular Beehive is a 3x3x3 cube with the core as its controller. You can replace any Beehive Structure Box with a functional part to improve the hive. It doesn't allow shared blocks, so each hive needs its own structure.[16]
Crafting Shaped
| any advanced beehive | ||

The hive has a built-in simulate upgrade, so bees won't come out of it. They also won't breed or do in-world transformation recipes inside it, to save performance. Instead they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[16]
Housing and feeding bees
The core can't hold bees itself. You need a Modular Alveary, and each Alveary holds 5 bees. Put bees in with bee cages, and right-click the Alveary with a cage to insert or extract bees.[18]

Beehive Structure Box
Recipe id: modularbees:modular_alveary
Bees in a Modular Beehive only look for flowers in the Modular Feeder, which holds 9 types of flowers. If a bee needs a fluid flower, put in a bucket or tank containing the matching fluid.[19]
Beehive upgrades
- Beehive Overclocker: makes bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode, and better electrodes give a higher boost. Multiple overclockers add together. The guide says two Netherite Electrodes (+400%) make bees work x9 (+800%) faster.[21]
- Electrode wear: there are four electrode tiers, and you can see their boost in JEI or the tooltip. In the beehive, electrodes take more damage the more bees are inside. The formula is floor[(x/15+1)*(1.03^x)], where x is the number of bees.[21]
- Beehive Stacker: raises the max stack size of the hive's output inventory. Each stacker gives a 3x stack size boost by default, and several stackers add together.[23]
- Beehive Treater: feeds bees extra food so they produce more combs. Several treaters add together, and you can find valid foods and their boosts in JEI.[22]
The Treater works differently from the Overclocker. It only consumes food when bees finish collecting nectar, and every bee needs food. If the supply can't feed every bee, the boost is weaker. Leftovers go to the output inventory.[22]
Automating the beehive
The Beehive Export Hatch acts as a proxy of the core for logistics. It automatically sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces.[20]

Modular Centrifuge
The centrifuge controller is a 3x3x3 structure with 4 corners on the bottom layer. As with the hive, you can replace structure blocks with functional parts, and shared blocks are not allowed. The guide calls the filler a Centrifuge Structure Box, while the item in this pack is the Centrifuge Structure Wall.[17][24]

It supports all centrifuge upgrades. Speed upgrades shorten the process time, and productivity upgrades increase parallel. The base process time matches the basic centrifuge at 15 seconds.[24]
Centrifuge parts
- Centrifuge Gearbox: increases parallel by 1.5 and needs wax to work, using 40 wax every work cycle. Multiple gearboxes add together.[25]
- Centrifuge Heater: makes the centrifuge work like a Heated Centrifuge, so it can process comb blocks and destroy all wax. Only one heater can be installed per centrifuge. It needs power and makes the centrifuge work 3 times faster. While a heater is installed, the centrifuge only runs when the heater is powered.[26]
- Centrifuge Overclocker: accelerates the centrifuge. It needs energy and an electrode, better electrodes give a higher boost, and multiple overclockers add together.[27]
- Centrifuge electrodes always lose 1 durability every work tick. This is simpler than the beehive, where wear scales with bee count.[21][27]
Automating the centrifuge
The Centrifuge Import Hatch is an input buffer. It can automatically pull combs from the chest or tank it faces, and the centrifuge uses its inventory as input directly.[28]
The Centrifuge Export Hatch is a proxy of the core that automatically sends items and fluids to the chest or tank it faces.[29]

Unverified No quests in this pack are confirmed to involve ModularBees, and the mod is not on the ATM Star quest path. The tiers below follow the in-pack recipes and the in-game guide entries instead. This site does hold All the Mods 10: To the Sky's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Tier 1: Honey Jelly and Structure Boxes
Everything starts with Honey Jelly. It is made in a centrifuge, and the pack also has a centrifuge recipe for imperial honeycomb that gives Honey Jelly and Wax. That recipe was changed by the pack.[17]

Tier 3: Treats and the Dragon Hive
The treat chain builds on Honey Jelly. Royal Treat comes first, then Ender Treat, which needs a bucket-free dragon breath ingredient, then Soul Treat, which needs both earlier treats.[17]
The Modular Dragon Hive is a special hive that collects dragon breath from draconic bees. You can also fill a Dragon Breath Bucket from dragon breath.[17][30]
Tier 4: The Modular Centrifuge
The Modular Centrifuge is the late-game step. It is the controller of a multiblock 3x3x3 structure with 4 corners on the bottom layer, and shared blocks are not allowed. It supports all centrifuge upgrades: speed upgrades shorten process time and productivity upgrades add parallel. The base process time is the same as the basic centrifuge (15s).[24][32]

How does ModularBees work with other mods?
3 parts
ModularBees is built almost entirely on top of Productive Bees. Its recipes lean on Productive Bees machines and items, on upgrades from Productive Lib, and on a few vanilla items. There are also two links to pack-specific content: the Patchouli guide book and the ATM Star Shard.[17]
Built on Productive Bees machines
Most ModularBees multiblock parts start from a Productive Bees block. These are the main connections.[17]
- Modular Beehive is built from an advanced beehive from Productive Bees plus Productive Lib upgrades.[17]
- Modular Feeder comes from a Feeding Slab. In the hive, bees only look for flowers in this feeder.[17][19]
- Modular Dragon Hive comes from a Dragon Egg Hive. It collects dragon breath from draconic bees.[17][30]
- Modular Centrifuge is based on the Productive Bees Centrifuge.[17]
- Centrifuge Heater is based on the Heated Centrifuge. It makes the modular centrifuge work like a heated one, so it can process comb blocks.[17][26]
- Bee Extractor is a modified Bottler that extracts genes from a bee into a bottle.[17][31]

The Centrifuge Structure Wall also uses Productive Bees materials, namely Obsidian Shard and Wither Skull Chip. It additionally needs a vanilla Cauldron and Iron Bars.[17]
Treats and Honey Jelly
The treat chain mixes both mods. Royal Treat combines Productive Bees' Honey Treat with Honey Jelly. Ender Treat then builds on the Royal Treat and also needs Draconic Chunk and vanilla Dragon Breath.[17]
Honey Jelly is also needed for Scented Plank, along with Wax. The pack changed the Productive Bees centrifuge recipe for the imperial honeycomb so that it gives Honey Jelly and Wax.[17]
Centrifuge (productivebees)

Pack-specific changes
The pack changed the recipe that produces Guide Book. It takes a vanilla Book plus a Scented Plank, so you need Honey Jelly and Wax before you can craft it.[17]

The pack also changed the harder Imperial Bee spawn egg recipe. It ties Soul Treat to the pack's own ATM Star Shard, and it works on a configurable bee to produce its spawn egg.[17]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use ModularBees?
2 parts
Modular Bees doesn't have a quest chapter of its own in the quest text I have for this pack. It shows up in one quest, inside the Industrial Foregoing chapter: "Automating the Potion Brewer" quest. There it's used as the example for a potion automation setup.[33]
Where it sits in the chapter
The quest comes after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which asks you for the Potion Brewer. That quest in turn comes after "Advanced Machine Frame" quest, the Tier 3 machine frame. The Potion Brewer quest explains that the machine brews potions, needs Blaze Powder as fuel and uses bottles. Unlike a normal Brewing Stand, it can autofill those bottles with water.[33]
What the automation quest asks for
The quest is about using AE2 to automate the Potion Brewer. Its tasks include the Advanced Pattern Encoder and the ME Export Bus. Its example is a Potion of Healing, aimed at the Royal Treats for Modular Bees.[33]
- Build the setup shown in the quest, then use an Export Bus or an Interface to fill the Potion Brewer with Water and Blaze Powder. The Blaze Powder is the fuel.[33]
- Don't provide bottles yet, because they would fill your network with Water Bottles.[33]
- The next step in the quest is to get an Advanced Pattern Provider. It points you to the Extended & Advanced AE chapter to learn more about how to use it.[33]
- Encode the example pattern with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. It uses the provider's ability to send items to a specific side, so the Glass Bottles go to the top side of the machine.[33]
- Enable Filtered Import on the Advanced Provider, so it only accepts items that match currently active crafting jobs. That way it won't accept potions too early. Processing Addons can help with large crafting jobs.[33]
- Configure the sides of the Potion Brewer as shown in the quest. There is a separate side layout if you use the Interface method.[33]
The quest doesn't ask you to build anything from Modular Bees itself. It only uses the bees' Royal Treats as the reason for the example potion.[33]
