All The Arcanist Gear is a mod in All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.1.0, where it is version 1.21.1-21.3.2. Late Game ATM Armor for Ars Nouveau (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is All The Arcanist Gear?

3 parts

All The Arcanist Gear is an add-on for Ars Nouveau players. It takes the pack's top-tier metal armor and gives it spellcaster stats. In this pack you have version 1.21.1-21.3.2.[1][2]

The mod adds three tiers of Arcanist armor (Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium) and a matching spell book for each. The quests describe the armor as the normal metal armor with buffs to Ars Nouveau spells.[2][3]

Who it is for

If you run a spell-focused build, this is your endgame gear. The quests say the Arcanist armor gives up some Armor Toughness and all Knockback Resistance compared with the plain metal armor. In return you get more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power.[3]

How it fits the progression

Each tier unlocks after the matching upgrade quest in the AllTheModium chapter. The Allthemodium pieces come first, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium. You make the Allthemodium Arcanist gear by upgrading Geo, Aether, Aqua or Pyro-mancer armor. Vibranium is the next upgrade on top of that.[3]

Spell books

The spell books raise how many glyphs you can fit in one spell. Allthemodium Spell Book allows up to 12 glyphs and can cast Tier 4 glyphs. Vibranium Spell Book allows 15, and Unobtainium Spell Book allows 20 and every glyph.[3]

The quests for these books are "AllTheModium Spell Book" quest, "Vibranium Spell Book" quest and "Unobtainium Spell Book" quest. The armor has its own quests in the Basic Armor chapter: "Allthemodium Arcanist Gear" quest, "Vibranium Arcanist Gear" quest and "Unobtainium Arcanist Gear" quest.[2][3]

The Creative Items chapter also has a quest for Creative Spell Book, described as "Spells (and mana) for life". It comes after the Beginning Of The End quest.[4]

Unverified The sources do not show this mod on the ATM Star quest path, so don't count on it as a required step there.

How do you get started with All The Arcanist Gear?

3 parts

Arcanist gear in this pack is an upgrade ladder, not a from-scratch craft. You start with elemental mage gear from Ars Nouveau, then upgrade it step by step: Allthemodium, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium. Every tier comes as armor and as a spell book, and each rung boosts your spellcasting more than the last.[3][5]

Step 1: Allthemodium Arcanist gear

Your first target is the Allthemodium tier. The quest book says this gear is made like regular Allthemodium armor, except you upgrade the Geo, Aether, Aqua or Pyro-mancer gear instead of Netherite. You'll want the matching Allthemodium upgrade template first, because the quests sit behind it. Here is the hat as an example. Robes, leggings and boots each have their own matching recipe.[3][5]

Smithing Transform

  • any allthemodium smithing
  • any elemental hat
  • any allthemodium ingot

Recipe id: allthearcanistgear:elemental_hat_to_allthemodium_hat_smithing

The set gives 24 Armor Points but only 16 Armor Toughness and no Knockback Resistance. In return you get more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power, and it keeps almost all the extra buffs of normal Allthemodium armor. That makes Allthemodium Arcanist Hat, Allthemodium Arcanist Robes, Allthemodium Arcanist Leggings and Allthemodium Arcanist Boots a solid first goal.[3]

Next, make the spell book. The Allthemodium Spell Book lets you cast Tier 4 glyphs and use up to 12 glyphs per spell. The quest notes you don't really have any Tier 4 glyphs yet, so the extra glyph slots are the immediate gain.[3]

Step 2: Vibranium

Vibranium Arcanist gear upgrades your finished Allthemodium Arcanist pieces, so keep those instead of using them elsewhere. You'll need the Vibranium smithing template for it. The set still gives 32 Armor Points, with 20 Armor Toughness and no Knockback Resistance, and even more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power than the Allthemodium tier.[3][5]

Step 3: Unobtainium

The top tier upgrades your Vibranium pieces in the same way, using the Unobtainium upgrade template. You get 40 Armor Points, 24 Armor Toughness and still no Knockback Resistance, but with even more Mana and Spell Power.[3][5]

Unobtainium Arcanist HatChanged by the pack

Tip: The smithing recipes for this gear are marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on what you remember from the standalone mod. Check the recipe blocks here or in the recipe viewer before you spend rare ingots.[5]

How does All The Arcanist Gear work?

4 parts

The sources show All The Arcanist Gear as a set of armor, spell books and perk threads. They describe no machines, multiblocks or power systems, so the mechanics here come down to upgrade chains and what each thread does.[5][6]

The smithing upgrade chain

The armor is made by upgrading in a smithing table, not by crafting from scratch. The pack changed all of the smithing recipes listed here. The Allthemodium pieces start from the matching elemental armor piece plus an Allthemodium ingot. The Unobtainium pieces start from the Vibranium version of the same piece plus an Unobtainium ingot. Each step also needs an item from that tier's smithing tag.[5]

Here is the boots line as an example. The sources show the Vibranium step for the boots only, going from Allthemodium boots to Vibranium boots.[5]

Step three: Vibranium boots to Unobtainium Arcanist Boots. This recipe is changed by the pack.

The Unobtainium hat, robes and leggings each take the Vibranium version of that piece. The Allthemodium Arcanist Hat, Allthemodium Arcanist Robes and Allthemodium Arcanist Leggings recipes start from the elemental hat, chest and legs.[5]

Spell book upgrades

Spell books follow the same idea. The Allthemodium Spell Book is smithed from Ars Nouveau's Archmage Spell Book, and the Unobtainium Spell Book is smithed from the Vibranium Spell Book. Both recipes are changed by the pack.[5]

The mod also has chat messages for blocks that need more power to break: one says you need a more powerful spell book, the other says you need more amplification. The sources don't explain which blocks this applies to.[6]

Threads and their perks

Threads are the perk items of this mod. Each one is made at Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus from a Blank Thread plus extra ingredients, and each gives a different effect.[5][6]

  • Flight: grants creative flight. It must be equipped in a slot of at least level 4.[6]
  • Spectral Sight: lets you see creatures through walls, in a radius of 8 blocks per level.[6]
  • True Sight: tier 1 grants Nightvision, tier 2 grants immunity to Blindness, tier 3 grants immunity to Darkness and tier 4 grants lava vision.[6]
  • Vitality: grants an extra heart for each level.[6]

How do you progress through All The Arcanist Gear?

4 parts

Progression in this pack is a straight three-step upgrade ladder: Allthemodium, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium. Each step has an armor set and a spell book, and every step is a smithing upgrade of the tier before it. The pack has changed all of these smithing recipes from the mod's own versions.[3][5]

Tier 1: Allthemodium

The Allthemodium Arcanist set is made by upgrading elemental armor (the Geo, Aether, Aqua or Pyro-mancer gear) instead of Netherite. The quest for the set sits after the AllTheModium Upgrade Template quest in the Allthemodium chapter, and the Basic Armor chapter also tracks it. Together they cover Allthemodium Arcanist Hat, Allthemodium Arcanist Robes, Allthemodium Arcanist Leggings and Allthemodium Arcanist Boots.[2][3][5]

The quest gives the set 24 Armor Points and 16 Armor Toughness, with no Knockback Resistance. In return you get more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power, plus almost all of the extra buffs normal Allthemodium armor offers. See a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" and "Allthemodium Arcanist Gear" quest.[2][3]

The Allthemodium Spell Book comes from upgrading an Archmage Spell Book. It lets you cast Tier 4 glyphs and use up to 12 glyphs per spell. The quest itself jokes that you don't have any Tier 4 glyphs yet. See "AllTheModium Spell Book" quest.[3][5]

Tier 2: Vibranium

Vibranium Arcanist gear is the upgrade of the Allthemodium Arcanist pieces, so you build it from the set you already made. The quests follow the Vibranium Smithing Template quest. The set still gives 32 Armor Points, like normal Vibranium. Armor Toughness is 20 and Knockback Resistance is 0. Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power are higher than on the Allthemodium set. See a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" and "Vibranium Arcanist Gear" quest.[2][3][5]

Tier 3: Unobtainium

Unobtainium is the top tier. These pieces are upgrades of the Vibranium Arcanist gear, and the quests follow the Unobtainium Upgrade Template quest. The set gives 40 Armor Points and 24 Armor Toughness, with no Knockback Resistance. You get even more mana and Spell Power than at the previous tier. See a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" and "Unobtainium Arcanist Gear" quest.[2][3][5]

Watch out: Don't expect these sets to tank like plain alloy armor. The quests say the Arcanist versions give lower Armor Toughness and no Knockback Resistance, and they make up for it with mana and spell stats.[3]

Beyond the ladder: Creative Spell Book

The Creative Spell Book has its own quest in the Creative Items chapter, which comes after the Beginning Of The End quest. See a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items". The pack added its own recipe for it, which builds on the Unobtainium Spell Book and also needs an ATM Star.[4][5]

How does All The Arcanist Gear work with other mods?

4 parts

All The Arcanist Gear is really an Ars Nouveau add-on. The quests describe each armor set as the matching metal armor, but with buffs to Ars Nouveau spells. Here's where it connects to other mods in this pack.[2]

Ars Nouveau spell books

The Allthemodium Spell Book is an upgrade of Ars Nouveau's Archmage Spell Book. The recipe is a smithing transform, and the pack has changed it from the mod's version. The quest "AllTheModium Spell Book" quest says it casts Tier 4 glyphs and lets you use up to 12 glyphs per spell.[3][5]

Allthemodium Spell BookChanged by the pack

Smithing Transform

Recipe id: allthearcanistgear:allthemodium_spell_book_smithing

The next tiers raise the glyph limit. "Vibranium Spell Book" quest says the Vibranium Spell Book allows 15 glyphs in one spell. "Unobtainium Spell Book" quest says the Unobtainium Spell Book unlocks every glyph and allows up to 20 in one spell.[3]

Arcanist armor

The quest a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" says the Allthemodium armor is made by upgrading the Geo, Aether, Aqua or Pyro-mancer gear instead of Netherite. It trades some toughness for more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power. Armor points go up with each tier: 24 for Allthemodium, 32 for Vibranium and 40 for Unobtainium. Toughness is 16, 20 and 24 respectively, and none of the sets give knockback resistance.[3]

Threads from the Enchanting Apparatus

The threads are made at Ars Nouveau's Enchanting Apparatus. They are the mod's own recipes, and the pack hasn't changed them. Each one builds on an Ars Nouveau Blank Thread and adds vanilla Minecraft items. Flight also uses Air Essence.[5]

Which All the Mods 10: To the Sky quests use All The Arcanist Gear?

6 parts

The Arcanist gear shows up in three quest chapters in the pack: Basic Armor, Chapter 3: AllTheModium, and Chapter 5: Creative Items. The tiers go Allthemodium, then Vibranium, then Unobtainium, and each tier has its own armor set and spell book.[2][3][4]

Basic Armor chapter

This chapter has one quest per armor set, and each asks you to hand in all four pieces: hat, robes, leggings and boots. All three are described as the matching metal armor with buffs to Ars Nouveau spells.[2]

Chapter 3: AllTheModium

Here each tier has two quests, a spell book and an armor quest. They unlock after the upgrade or smithing template quest for that tier. The armor quests here are looser than in Basic Armor, since any one of the four pieces completes the task.[3]

Allthemodium tier

Both quests unlock after the AllTheModium Upgrade Template quest. "AllTheModium Spell Book" quest asks for the Allthemodium Spell Book. The quest says it casts Tier 4 glyphs and lets you use up to 12 glyphs per spell.[3]

a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" asks for any Allthemodium Arcanist piece. The quest says you make them by upgrading Geo, Aether, Aqua or Pyro-mancer gear. They give 24 Armor Points but only 16 Armor Toughness and no Knockback Resistance, and in return you get more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power.[3]

Vibranium tier

These two unlock after the Vibranium Smithing Template quest. "Vibranium Spell Book" quest asks for the Vibranium Spell Book, which lets you use 15 glyphs in one spell.[3]

a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" asks for any Vibranium Arcanist piece, and it is the upgrade over the Allthemodium Arcanist gear. It gives 32 Armor Points, 20 Armor Toughness and no Knockback Resistance, plus even more Max Mana, Mana Regen and Spell Power than the Allthemodium set.[3]

Unobtainium tier

The last pair unlocks after the Unobtainium Upgrade Template quest. a quest in "Chapter 3: AllTheModium" asks for any Unobtainium Arcanist piece. The quest lists 40 Armor Points, 24 Armor Toughness, no Knockback Resistance, and even more mana and Spell Power.[3]

"Unobtainium Spell Book" quest asks for the Unobtainium Spell Book. Every glyph is available with it, and you can use up to 20 in one spell.[3]

Chapter 5: Creative Items

a quest in "Chapter 5: Creative Items" is the last one. It unlocks after the Beginning Of The End quest and asks for the Creative Spell Book. Its subtitle is "Spells (and mana) for life".[4]
