Relics is a mod in All the Mons 1.3.0, where it is version 0.12.8. Just a mod about useful items with unique mechanics :3 (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Relics?

1 part

Relics adds items with unique mechanics, and this pack ships version 0.12.8 of it. Each relic can be levelled up and gets random stats, so two copies of the same relic won't necessarily be alike. The mod also adjusts its balance to the modpack it's in.[1][2]

The first quest in the chapter explains how it works. Hold shift on a relic to open the Research Window. There you can spend vanilla XP to reroll the stats on its abilities, check the Relic XP you've earned by using it, and level up its abilities. Each rank makes the effects stronger and more efficient. The default key for using relic abilities is Left Alt.[3]

Where it sits in the quest book

The chapter is called "Relics" quest. It's in the "Tools and Gear" group and is chapter 28 of 70 in the book. It has 25 quests, and the opening one is the intro described above. Several quests branch off it:[3]

Eight of the chapter's 25 quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book for them.[3]

How do you get started with Relics?

4 parts

Relics is a mod about finding items, not crafting them. The "Relics" quest quest opens the chapter (group Tools and Gear) and says it works like Artifacts: you find many unique, powerful items out in the worlds. The only recipes this pack shows for the mod are for cooking meatballs, so your first job is exploring.[3][4]

Learn the relic basics first

Every relic has abilities, and you unlock and upgrade them in the Research Window. Hold shift on the relic to open it. There you can spend vanilla XP to reroll the stats on an ability, check the Relic XP the relic has earned from use, and level the abilities up. Each rank makes the effects stronger and more efficient. To use relic abilities, the default key is Left Alt.[3]

Your first steps

  1. Start in the Overworld. The "Overworld" quest quest says relics can be found there. The quest book places these after it: Roller Skate, Springy Boot (Mountain biomes), Leafy Mantle (dense Forest and Tropic trees), Jellyfish Necklace (chests in aquatic biomes), Rider Flute, Hunting Belt, Cut Glass Boot and Chef's Hat.[3]
  2. Keep an eye out for the Chef's Hat. When an enemy dies it has a chance to drop a meatball, which works like raw beef: eat it directly or cook it for greater restoration.[3]
  3. Head to the Nether once you have fire resistance. The "The Nether" quest quest says relics turn up in Ruined Portals, Nether Fortresses and Bastions. The quest book lists Shield of Retaliation, Reflective Necklace, Ghostly Mantle, Sphere of Self-Sacrifice, Ring of the Seven Deadly Sins and Piglin Mask there. The Piglin Mask sits among the ruins of Bastions.[3]
  4. Finish in the End. The "The End" quest quest says relics can be found there, and the quest book lists Chorus Staff, Clot of Time, Kinetic Belt, Midnight Mantle and Glitchy Mantle after it.[3]

Cooking meatballs

A Raw Meatball can be cooked into a Cooked Meatball in three ways: a furnace, a smoker or a campfire. All three recipes are below.[4]

Where else relics matter

The Forbidden & Arcanus chapter has its own "Relics" quest quest. It says relics can go in your Forge, in the squares around the center slot, which open up as you upgrade the Tiers. You can also use them in the Clibano. The "Tier 2 Forge" quest quest says a Tier 2 Forge lets you use a second relic, and the "Tier 4 Forge" quest quest says every relic space is open at Tier 4.[5]

Tip: The Experience Disperser can be found anywhere but is one of the rarest. Every time a relic gains Relic Experience, all your other relics gain experience too.[3]

How does Relics work?

6 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

The mod's project page describes Relics as a mod about useful items with unique mechanics, with a leveling system and random stats. The sources here don't describe any machines, multiblocks, power networks or pipe automation, so this section covers how the relic abilities themselves work, as their tooltips describe them.[1]

Leveling, rerolling and resetting abilities

Each ability can be upgraded with experience points. Leveling up raises the ability's level and improves its attributes. Once an ability hits its maximum level, it can't be raised any further.[6]

A reroll randomly rerolls the ability's attributes for better or worse values. If the ability has already reached maximum quality, the tooltip says the reroll will definitely worsen it, and you have to hold a confirm key first to show you understand the possible consequences.[6]

A reset sets the ability's level back to the minimum and returns the spent upgrade points. If the ability has already reached its minimum level, the tooltip says resetting is not required. The tooltips list the cost of level-up, reroll and reset as experience points, with a relative level count alongside.[6]

  • According to the tooltip, holding the level-up key during the action automatically levels up the ability until experience or upgrade points run out.[6]
  • According to the tooltip, holding the reroll key during the action automatically rerolls attributes until the maximum possible rarity is achieved or experience points run out.[6]
  • Some ability effects only apply from a given rank. The tooltips mark these with "Starting from rank".[6]
Watch out: Relic work like this can't be done inside just any inventory. If you see the "wrong container" message, move the relic to your main player inventory and try again.[6]

Researching abilities

The tooltips describe researching an ability as a small puzzle. You move the cursor over the fog on the left to explore the ability icon underneath and find hidden stars. Then you match the icon's star pattern and connect the stars into a constellation.[6]

There are hints. You can see particles at the star positions even through the fog, and the number of dots flying around a star tells you how many connections it needs.[6]

How relics gain experience

Each ability's tooltip lists its own experience sources. Here is what the tooltips list for a few relics.[6]

  • Chef Hat: +1 experience for each meatball dropped, each meatball consumed, and each point of health restored by meatballs.[6]
  • Chorus Staff: +1 experience for each teleport, each safe landing after teleportation, and each target that lost sight of the relic bearer during teleportation.[6]
  • Clot of Time: +1 experience for every second spent in rewind mode, and for every point of health restored by the health rewind modifier.[6]
  • Cut Glass Boot: +1 experience for each second spent moving across the liquid.[6]
  • Experience Disperser: +1 experience for each point of experience distributed by dispersion.[6]

Ability mechanics worth knowing

Per its tooltip, the Chorus Staff's Blink teleports you forward up to a set number of blocks, consuming 1 unit from an internal buffer that regenerates automatically over time. With the ascent rank modifier, using it while looking at a block within reach teleports you to that block instead, and if there are other blocks above the target, the remaining distance is used to find a safe location. Other rank modifiers make nearby targets briefly lose sight of you and remove fall damage on landing.[6]

The Clot of Time's Rewind works while you hold right mouse button. It smoothly returns you along the path you recently traveled. After the rewind ends, the ability goes on cooldown for the same amount of time you used it continuously without interruption. Rank modifiers can restore health to the value it had at that point on the path (it never reduces your current health), stop you taking damage, or make nearby entities lose sight of you.[6]

Per its tooltip, the Experience Disperser shares experience between relics. When any of your relics gains experience, all equipped relics additionally receive a percentage of that amount. Rank modifiers let it trigger even if the relic that gained experience is at max level, give relics of the same type extra experience from dispersion, and distribute part of the experience you gain from experience orbs among your equipped relics.[6]

The Cut Glass Boot and fluids

This is the closest thing the sources show to fluid handling. When the relic is held, the tooltip says it works like a regular bucket that stores a limited number of liquids up to a total volume in mB. To switch the currently selected liquid, hold the relic, press Shift and scroll the mouse wheel.[6]

The tooltip says that when the relic is equipped, it allows movement across any liquid stored in its internal buffer. Movement speed on the liquid is halved compared to normal, but for every 1000 mB of liquid of the same type, speed on it increases by a percentage.[6]

Chef Hat meatballs and cooking

The Chef Hat adds food to your kills. Killing a target has a chance to drop 1 meatball, which has the same properties as raw beef. You can eat Raw Meatball right away or cook it into Cooked Meatball for more benefit.[6][7]

Higher ranks improve this. Dropped meatballs can be cooked automatically, and meatballs restore health when eaten, with cooked ones restoring twice as much. Another rank modifier makes meatballs get consumed 3 times faster.[6]

The pack lets you cook a raw meatball in a furnace, a smoker or a campfire. Each method has its own recipe:[7]

Recipe id: relics:cooked_meatball_from_smelting_raw_meatball

Furnace: smelting a raw meatball gives a cooked meatball.

Unverified The tooltips only show placeholders for values such as drop chances, teleport distance, buffer size, rewind time and experience percentages. No config files for this mod are available as sources here, so this pack's exact numbers are not confirmed. Check the in-game tooltips for the real values.

How do you progress through Relics?

6 parts

There is no crafting ladder for Relics in this pack. The in-pack recipes for this mod are just three ways of cooking a meatball. Instead, you find the relics out in the world and rank up their abilities by using them, and the quest book lays the hunt out by dimension.[3][4]

Ranking up a relic

Hold shift on a relic to open the Research Window. There you can exchange vanilla XP to reroll the stats on its abilities, see your current Relic XP (earned by using the relics), and level up its abilities. Each rank makes the abilities stronger and more efficient. Relic abilities are triggered with Left Alt by default.[3]

The Experience Disperser speeds this up. Its ability makes every other relic gain Relic XP whenever one of them does. It can turn up anywhere, but it's one of the rarest finds.[3]

Where the quest book sends you

The "Relics" quest chapter sits in the Tools and Gear group (chapter 28 of 70 in the book) and has 25 quests. It opens with the intro quest, which branches into "Overworld" quest, "The Nether" quest, "The End" quest and the "Experience Disperser" quest quest. Each relic quest then hangs off its dimension.[3]

Overworld relics

  • Jellyfish Necklace: you may find it in chests in aquatic biomes. It boosts max health and regeneration while you're submerged or in the rain.[3]
  • Rider Flute: stores up to 2 tamed mounts so you can call them back later.[3]
  • Hunting Belt: increases the damage your pets deal.[3]
  • Chef's Hat: defeated enemies have a chance to produce meatballs.[3]
  • Leafy Mantle: found in the densest trees of Forest and Tropic biomes. It gives camouflage in leaves and can absorb a fatal blow.[3]
  • Roller Skate: you gradually gain movement speed while running continuously.[3]
  • Springy Boot: found in Mountain biomes. A crouch jump launches you away from where you're looking, and landings bounce you without fall damage.[3]
  • Cut Glass Boot: lets you walk on any liquid you've stored in its internal buffer.[3]

Nether relics

The quest text places these in Ruined Portals, Nether Fortresses and Bastions, so bring fire resistance.[3]

  • Shield of Retaliation: blocks the next instance of damage for a short window, but leaves you more vulnerable if you miss the timing.[3]
  • Reflective Necklace: damage you take can create orbs that are launched at your target when you attack.[3]
  • Ring of the Seven Deadly Sins: has 7 abilities, each one a blessing with a cost.[3]
  • Sphere of Self-Sacrifice: trades a portion of your maximum health for regeneration over time.[3]
  • Piglin Mask: found among Bastion ruins. Piglins stop attacking you on sight, and its Looting ability drops golden teeth.[3]
  • Golden Tooth: its quest comes after the Piglin Mask quest. Use it to trade with piglins or melt it into gold.[3]
  • Ghostly Mantle: has 3 abilities, including Spectral Escape, which negates a killing attack every so often.[3]

End relics

  • Chorus Staff: teleports you a short distance forward, using charges from a buffer that slowly regenerates.[3]
  • Clot of Time: hold the use key to rewind your movement for a few seconds.[3]
  • Glitchy Mantle: has 3 abilities, including walking on air like scaffolding.[3]
  • Midnight Mantle: has 4 abilities, and its damage and attack speed bonus depends on how close the Moon is to full.[3]
  • Kinetic Belt: raises the maximum number of amulets you can equip and lets you glide while holding jump. Worn with the Jellyfish Necklace, gliding leaves a trail of damaging electric chains.[3]

Meatballs from the Chef's Hat

The Chef's Hat gives you meatballs, which you can eat directly or cook into Cooked Meatball for greater restoration. The pack has three ways to cook a Raw Meatball: smelting, smoking and campfire cooking.[3][4]

Cooked MeatballMod recipe

Smelting

Recipe id: relics:cooked_meatball_from_smelting_raw_meatball

The smoking and campfire cooking recipes give the same result.

The Tier 1 to Tier 5 Forge quests are in the Forbidden & Arcanus chapter, not the Relics chapter. They use that mod's own relic items, such as the Artisan Relic, rather than the ones above.[5]

Which All the Mons quests use Relics?

5 parts

All the Relics quests live in one chapter called Relics, in the Tools and Gear group. It is chapter 28 of 70 in the quest book and has 25 quests. It starts with a single intro quest, then splits into branches by where the relics are found.[3]

The starting quest

Everything begins with "Relics" quest, which has an xp task. It explains how the mod works: you open the Research Window by holding shift on a relic, spend vanilla XP there to reroll the stats on its abilities, see its Relic XP and level up its abilities. Each rank makes the abilities stronger and more efficient. The default key for using relic abilities is Left Alt.[3]

Four quests unlock straight after it: "The Nether" quest, "The End" quest, "Overworld" quest and "Experience Disperser" quest. The first three are dimension quests that tell you where those relics can be found. The fourth asks you to obtain the Experience Disperser.[3]

Experience Disperser

The quest describes the Experience Disperser as a relic that can be found anywhere, yet one of the rarest. Its single ability makes every other relic gain Relic Experience whenever one relic gains it.[3]

Overworld branch

Each quest after "Overworld" quest asks you to obtain one relic:[3]

Nether branch

"The Nether" quest says these relics are found in Ruined Portals, Nether Fortresses and Bastions. Five relic quests follow it, and one more follows the Piglin Mask:[3]

End branch

"The End" quest says these relics can be found in The End. Five relic quests follow it:[3]

Tip: The Kinetic Belt quest lists the Kinetic Belt and the Jellyfish Necklace as the conditions for its Electric Arc synergy. Wear both and glide for a short duration to leave a trail of damaging electric chains.[3]

Which Relics config options matter?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 0.50 guide

Relics is designed so that its balance is automatically adjusted to the needs of the modpack it is in. The mod's description says this lets it fit both vanilla-like packs and packs where health and damage numbers are in the thousands. So you may not need to touch much by hand, but the description doesn't say how this adjustment works in this pack.[1]

Unverified Which Relics config options exist in this pack, and whether the pack changed any of them from the mod defaults, could not be confirmed, because no config files for the mod were available. Check the config folder in your own instance before relying on any specific value.

What changed in Relics between versions?

3 parts

All the Mons 1.3.0 ships Relics 0.12.8, and the mod has been in the pack since All the Mons 0.3.0-beta or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs, newest first, so everything listed here is already in your 1.3.0 install.[2]
