What is FTB Teams?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.0 guide

FTB Teams is included in this pack as version 2101.1.10, built for NeoForge. It has also been part of the pack for a long time, since at least an early release, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified There are no verified sources here for what FTB Teams does in this pack, which players it is aimed at, or how it fits into progression. Judging by its name, it likely handles player teams or parties, but that is unconfirmed. Check it in-game before relying on it.

How do you get started with FTB Teams?

1 part

Good news: getting started with FTB Teams doesn't mean crafting anything. The mod's party team is a way to invite members and progress together. In this pack, the quest book's "Welcome" chapter points you to a command and a few setup steps. It opens with "Welcome to All the Mons!" quest, which describes the pack as a kitchen sink pack that includes Cobblemon.[2][3]

Your first steps, in order

  1. Don't worry about the quests. a quest in "Welcome" tells you they are optional and that mods are not gated behind them, and it points you to the Main Questline if you want a guided progression.[2]
  2. Make a team for you and your friends with the command /ftbteams party create (name of team). a quest in "Welcome" asks you to do this, and the mod describes a party team as a way to invite members and progress together.[2][3]
  3. Open the Teams screen with the "Open Teams GUI" key binding. You'll find it under the "FTB Teams" category in your controls. I can't confirm which key it is set to by default.[3]
  4. Claim your base area. a quest in "Welcome" tells you to open your map with M and click the Claimed Chunks icon in the top left. It says to left click and drag to claim, and to shift-left click a chunk to force load it. Lines across the chunk show it worked.[2]

The same chapter's a quest in "Welcome" suggests some handy commands: /sethome, /home, /spawn and /rtp. It says they have cooldowns and limits, and that you can change them in the ftbessentials.snbt file.[2]

Tip: Party teams can have a size cap, and a limited lives system can be switched on. With limited lives, a member who dies after the party runs out of lives is kicked from the party, and a party with no lives left can't invite anyone new. Check what your server uses before you invite a big group.[3]

How does FTB Teams work?

2 parts

The sources for FTB Teams describe a team system, so the core mechanics here are about how parties work. You open the team screen with the "Open Teams GUI" key, which you'll find under the FTB Teams category in your controls.[3]

Party teams

A Party team lets you invite members and progress together. The create-party screen describes it that way, so that's the one to pick if you're playing with friends.[3]

Server settings that shape a party

The server settings for maximum party size and limited lives change how parties behave. Here is what each one does.[3]

  • Maximum party size: if it is above 0, a party can't have more players than that number. If it is 0, there is no limit.[3]
  • If the size limit is changed while larger teams already exist, those parties keep their current size, but they can't invite new members.[3]
  • Limited lives: if the setting is above 0, party lives apply. Each time a member dies, the party loses a life.[3]
  • Once the party has no lives left, a member who dies is kicked from the party. A party with no lives remaining also can't invite new members.[3]
  • If the party owner dies while limited lives are on, a random member becomes the new owner, and officers get priority.[3]
Watch out: With limited lives on, running out of party lives means the next death gets that player kicked from the party. Keep an eye on the remaining lives before a risky fight.[3]

Unverified The values this pack uses for maximum party size and limited lives are set in the server config for FTB Teams, and the sources here do not show them. Check them on your own server.

How do you progress through FTB Teams?

2 parts

FTB Teams doesn't have a tier ladder to climb in this pack. The quest book only covers it in one small spot, the first chapter, "Welcome" (chapter 1 of 70 in the book), so this section is short.[2]

Where the quest book puts it

The Welcome chapter has 5 quests, and one of them is about teams: a quest in "Welcome". It tells you that if you want a team for you and your friends, you create it with the command /ftbteams party create followed by the name of your team.[2]

That quest is a simple checkmark task, so there's nothing to craft or collect. Around it, the chapter covers claiming chunks in a quest in "Welcome", handy commands in a quest in "Welcome", and the pack intro in "Welcome to All the Mons!" quest.[2]

Tip: Quests are optional in this pack, and mods are not gated behind completing any quests. If you want to follow the pack's progression, the book points you to the Main Questline.[2]

What this means for you

You can make a team right away, with no earlier quest or item required. The quest book doesn't set up later stages for it, so there's nothing further to unlock after that command.[2]

Which All the Mons quests use FTB Teams?

2 parts

FTB Teams shows up in just one place in the quest book: the "Welcome" chapter, which is chapter 1 of 70 and has 5 quests. Only one of those quests is about teams, and it's a quick read.[2]

The team quest

Quest a quest in "Welcome" is the one you want. It has a checkmark task, so there's nothing to hand in. The text tells you that if you want a team for you and your friends, you can create one with the command /ftbteams party create (name of team).[2]

The rest of the Welcome chapter

The other quests in the chapter aren't about FTB Teams, but they're worth a look when you start. Here they are as the chapter lists them:[2]

  • "Welcome to All the Mons!" quest has a dimension task. It describes the pack as a kitchensink pack that includes Cobblemon.[2]
  • a quest in "Welcome" explains that quests are optional in this pack and that mods are not gated behind completing any quests. It points you to the Main Questline if you want to follow the progression.[2]
  • a quest in "Welcome" covers claiming chunks. You open the map with M, click the Claimed Chunks icon in the top left, and left click and drag to claim. Shift-left click force loads a chunk.[2]
  • a quest in "Welcome" lists helpful commands such as /sethome, /home, /spawn and /rtp. It says these have cooldowns and limits that you can change in the ftbessentials.snbt server config.[2]
Tip: Every quest in this chapter is a checkmark or a dimension task, and quests are optional in this pack. You can set up a team whenever you like without finishing anything else first.[2]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ftbteams, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
