What is ModularBees?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 5.5 guide
ModularBees (version 1.21.1-2.5-neoforge in this pack) is all about compact bee processing. Instead of loose hives and single machines, you build multiblocks: a Modular Beehive to make combs and honey, and a Modular Centrifuge to process them. You then customise both by swapping in functional parts.[1][2][3]
The Modular Beehive is a 3x3x3 cube run by its core block. You can replace any structure box with a functional part to improve it, but it doesn't allow shared blocks. It has a built-in simulate upgrade, so your bees never fly out of the hive. They also won't breed or do in-world transformation recipes, which saves performance. In exchange, they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[2]
The core can't hold bees itself. Your bees live in Alveary parts, which hold 5 bees each, and you move bees in and out by right-clicking an Alveary with bee cages. Bees only look for flowers in the Modular Feeder, which holds 9 types of flowers. It can also take a bucket or tank for bees that need a fluid flower.[4][5]
Upgrades and processing
- The Beehive Overclocker uses energy and Electrodes to speed up production, and multiple overclockers stack additively.[6]
- The Beehive Treater feeds your bees extra food so they make more combs.[7]
- The Beehive Stacker raises the stack size of the hive's output inventory.[8]
- Export hatches automatically send products and honey from the hive, or items and fluids from the centrifuge, into the chest or tank they face.[9][10]
- The Modular Centrifuge supports all centrifuge upgrades and starts at the basic centrifuge's 15s process time. You can boost it with a Gearbox, which needs wax, or a Heater, which needs power and makes it work 3 times faster.[3][11][12]
There's more beyond the core machines too. The mod also adds a Modular Dragon Hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees, and a Bee Extractor that pulls genes from a bee into a bottle.[13][14]
Unverified Exactly where ModularBees fits in this pack's overall progression isn't covered by the available sources.
How do you get started with ModularBees?
7 parts
The heart of ModularBees is the Modular Beehive, a 3x3x3 multiblock hive. Bees in it won't come out, and they won't breed there. Instead they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades. So the first steps are about getting that hive built and housing some bees.[16]
Step 1: Make Honey Jelly
Honey Jelly comes first, because it goes into the Scented Plank and into the treats. In this pack it is made with a centrifuge recipe.[17]
Step 2: Craft Scented Planks
Scented Plank is used in both the Beehive Structure Box and the hive core, so make some early.[17]

Step 3: Build the Structure Boxes and the Core
The Beehive Structure Box fills out the cube. You can replace any box with a functional part later to improve the hive.[16][17]

Step 4: Give your bees a home and food
The core can't hold bees by itself, so you need the Modular Alveary. Each Alveary holds 5 bees. Use bee cages to put bees in, and right-click the Alveary with a cage to insert or extract them.[18]

Next comes the Modular Feeder. Bees in a Modular Beehive only look for flowers in the Feeder, which holds 9 types of flowers. If a bee needs a fluid flower, put in a bucket or tank with that fluid.[19]
Step 5: Automate the output
The Beehive Export Hatch is a proxy of the core for logistics. It automatically sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces.[20]

Step 6: Upgrade the hive
The Beehive Overclocker makes your bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode, and better electrodes give a bigger boost. Several overclockers add their boosts together.[21]

Recipe id: modularbees:modular_overclocker
There are four electrode tiers, and you can check each boost in JEI or the tooltip. The pack changes the recipe for the Netherite Electrode, so use the one below rather than assuming the mod default.[17][21]

This recipe is changed by the pack.
The Beehive Treater gives bees extra food so they produce more combs. It only consumes food when bees finish collecting nectar, and the boost weakens if the food can't feed every bee. You can find valid foods in JEI.[22]

What comes after
Once the hive runs, look at the Modular Centrifuge. It is a second multiblock, also 3x3x3, with a base process time of 15s, the same as the basic centrifuge.[24]
How does ModularBees work?
9 parts
ModularBees has multiblock machines: the Modular Beehive and the Modular Centrifuge. Both start from a controller block, and you upgrade them by swapping plain structure blocks for functional parts. This section covers how the pieces work together. It stays within what the mod's in-game guide says.[16][24]
The Modular Beehive
The Modular Beehive is the controller of a 3x3x3 cube. You can replace any Beehive Structure Box in that cube with a functional part to improve the hive. The structure doesn't allow shared blocks, so each hive needs its own parts.[16]

The hive has a built-in simulate upgrade, so bees won't come out of the hive. Inside a Modular Beehive, bees don't breed and don't do in-world transformation recipes. This saves performance. Instead they produce combs and honey at incredible speed once you add upgrades.[16]
Housing bees and feeding them
The core can't hold bees, so you need a Modular Alveary to house them. Each Alveary holds 5 bees, and you load them with bee cages. Right-clicking the Alveary with a bee cage puts a bee in or takes one out.[18]

Bees in a Modular Beehive only look for flowers in a Modular Feeder, which can hold 9 types of flowers. If a bee needs a fluid flower, put a bucket or a tank with the matching fluid in the feeder.[19]
Beehive upgrades
- Beehive Overclocker: makes your bees produce faster. It needs energy and an electrode to work, and better electrodes give a bigger speed boost. Multiple overclockers add together. Two Netherite Electrodes (+400% each) give x9 (+800%) speed.[21]
- Beehive Treater: feeds your bees extra food so they produce more combs. Multiple treaters add together. You can look up valid foods and their boosts in JEI.[22]
- Beehive Stacker: raises the max stack size of the hive's output inventory. Each stacker gives a 3x stack size boost by default, and multiple stackers add together.[23]

The Modular Dragon Hive
The Modular Dragon Hive is a special hive for collecting dragon breath from draconic bees. You can also fill a bucket with dragon breath to make a Dragon Breath Bucket.[17][25]
The Modular Centrifuge
The Modular Centrifuge is the controller of the Modular Centrifuge multiblock, a 3x3x3 structure. The guide describes it as having 4 corners at the bottom layer. As with the hive, you can replace any Centrifuge Structure Wall with a functional part, and shared blocks aren't allowed.[17][24]

It supports all centrifuge upgrades. Speed upgrades shorten the process time, and productivity upgrades increase parallel. The base process time is 15s, the same as the basic centrifuge.[24]
Centrifuge parts
- Centrifuge Overclocker: speeds up the centrifuge. It needs energy and an electrode, and better electrodes give a bigger boost. Multiple overclockers add together. Here the electrodes always lose 1 durability at every work tick.[26]
- Centrifuge Gearbox: increases parallel by 1.5 and needs wax to work, at 40 wax per work cycle. Multiple gearboxes add together.[27]
- Centrifuge Heater: makes the centrifuge work like a Heated Centrifuge, so it can process comb blocks and destroys all wax. Only one Heater can be installed per centrifuge. It needs power and makes the centrifuge work 3 times faster. While a Heater is installed, the centrifuge only works when the Heater is powered.[28]

Unverified The sources don't give the energy use or buffer size of the overclockers and the Heater, the exact boost of each electrode tier (apart from the Netherite example), or the pack's exact energy type. There are also no config files for this mod in the pack, so the 3x stacker boost is the guide's default and I can't confirm whether this pack changes it.
How do you progress through ModularBees?
7 parts
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest chapter that covers this mod, so the order below follows the in-pack recipes and the mod's in-game guide instead of a quest line. This site does hold All the Mons's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
ModularBees is built around a multiblock beehive, controlled by the Modular Beehive, and a multiblock centrifuge, controlled by the Modular Centrifuge. Both are built in tiers. You make the shell first, then swap structure pieces for functional parts. Here is the order I'd go in.[16][24]
Tier 1: Honey Jelly and Scented Planks
Everything starts with Honey Jelly, which you make in a Productive Bees centrifuge. A second centrifuge recipe, whose id references the imperial honeycomb, gives Honey Jelly plus Wax.[17]
Centrifuge (productivebees)

Honey Jelly then goes into the Scented Plank, the base material for the beehive structure.[17]

Tier 3: Functional beehive parts
- Beehive Export Hatch: a logistics proxy of the core that auto-sends products and honey to the chest or tank it faces.[20]
- Modular Feeder: bees in the hive only look for flowers here. It holds 9 types of flowers, and fluid flowers can be supplied with a bucket or tank.[19]
- Beehive Treater: gives bees extra food for more combs. It only eats when bees finish collecting nectar, and the boost weakens if the food can't feed every bee. Multiple treaters add together, and JEI lists the valid foods.[22]
- Beehive Stacker: raises the output inventory's max stack size, with each stacker giving a 3x boost by default. Multiple stackers add together.[23]
- Beehive Overclocker: speeds up your bees. It needs energy and an Electrode, and multiple overclockers add together.[21]

Electrode tiers
Overclockers run on electrodes, and there are four tiers: Copper Electrode, Iron Electrode, Gold Electrode and Netherite Electrode. Better electrodes give a bigger speed boost, and you can read the exact numbers in JEI or the tooltip. The guide's example is two Netherite Electrodes (+400%) making bees work x9 (+800%) faster.[17][21]

In a beehive, electrodes take more damage the more bees you have. The guide gives the formula floor[(x/15+1)*(1.03^x)], where x is the number of bees. Centrifuge overclockers wear differently: their electrodes always lose 1 durability every work tick.[21][26]

The pack also has a treat chain: Royal Treat, then Ender Treat, then Soul Treat. Each step uses the one before it.[17]
Tier 5: The Modular Centrifuge
The centrifuge multiblock is built the same way. It's a 3x3x3 structure with 4 corners at the bottom layer, it doesn't allow shared blocks, and any Structure Box can be replaced with a functional part. It supports all centrifuge upgrades: speed upgrades shorten process time and productivity upgrades increase parallel. The base process time matches the basic centrifuge at 15s.[24]

How does ModularBees work with other mods?
5 parts
ModularBees leans heavily on Productive Bees. In this pack, nearly every machine in the mod is crafted from a Productive Bees block, so you'll want that mod's early game sorted first. A few Productive Lib upgrades, one All the Tweaks item and one Patchouli book also show up. Everything below comes from in-pack recipes.[17]
Beehive side: Productive Bees and Productive Lib
- The Modular Beehive needs any block from the advanced beehives tag, plus the Upgrade Adult and Upgrade Simulator upgrades. It also uses Iron Bars and a Scented Plank. The simulator upgrade fits the in-game guide, which says the Modular Beehive has a built-in simulate upgrade.[16][17]
- The Modular Feeder is a Beehive Structure Box combined with a Feeding Slab.[17]
- The Modular Dragon Hive is a Beehive Structure Box combined with a Dragon Egg Hive. It is the hive that collects dragon breath from draconic bees.[17][25]
- The Beehive Stacker uses a Beehive Structure Box and the Upgrade Block upgrade, plus any chest and any leather.[17]
Centrifuge side
- The Modular Centrifuge is built from a Productive Bees Centrifuge, an Inactive Dragon Egg and the Upgrade Entity Filter upgrade. It also takes any netherite ingot and any wax storage block. The guide says its base process time is the same as the basic centrifuge, and that it supports all centrifuge upgrades.[17][24]
- The Centrifuge Heater needs a Productive Bees Heated Centrifuge, a Centrifuge Structure Wall, the Upgrade Block upgrade and any netherite ingot. The guide says it makes the centrifuge work like a Heated Centrifuge.[17][28]
Crafting Shaped
Recipe id: modularbees:modular_centrifuge_part
The wall pulls in Productive Bees drops, the Obsidian Shard and the Wither Skull Chip, plus a vanilla Cauldron.
Honey Jelly, treats and planks
Honey Jelly ties the mods together. Productive Bees' centrifuge has a recipe in the modularbees namespace that gives you Honey Jelly and Wax. Honey Jelly then feeds into several ModularBees items.[17]
- Scented Plank is crafted from Honey Jelly, Wax and any planks.[17]
- Royal Treat combines Honey Jelly with a Productive Bees Honey Treat.[17]
- Ender Treat combines Dragon Breath, Honey Jelly, a Royal Treat and a Draconic Chunk.[17]
Bee Extractor
The Bee Extractor is described in the guide as a modified bottler, and the recipe backs that up: it is built around the Productive Bees Bottler, with a vanilla Piston and Sticky Piston alongside it.[17][31]

Changes made by the pack
The pack changes some recipes involving ModularBees. The first is the Patchouli Guide Book, which has its own recipe here, built on a vanilla Book.[17]
Second, the Productive Bees imperial bee spawn egg has a harder recipe here. It uses an ATM Star Shard, a Soul Treat and a configurable bee, and gives back a configurable bee spawn egg.[17]

Which All the Mons quests use ModularBees?
2 parts
Only one quest in the pack's quest book mentions Modular Bees, and it sits in the "Industrial Foregoing" chapter rather than in a chapter of its own. It is "Automating the Potion Brewer" quest, and it shows how to automate the Potion Brewer with AE2. The Modular Bees link is the example it uses: a Potion of Healing, focused on Royal Treats.[32]
Where it sits in the chapter
The quest comes right after a quest in "Industrial Foregoing", which itself comes after "Advanced Machine Frame" quest. So you reach the Modular Bees example once you have the Advanced Machine Frame and the Potion Brewer.[32]
What the quest asks for
The quest has three tasks. Two of them are named in the sources: the Advanced Pattern Encoder and the ME Export Bus. The other task item has no id in the quest data, so I can't tell you what it is.[32]
- Build the setup shown in the quest. The Creative Energy Cell in the picture is only a placeholder for your main network.[32]
- Use an Export Bus or an Interface to fill the Potion Brewer with Water and Blaze Powder. The Blaze Powder is the fuel. Don't provide bottles yet, because they would fill your network with Water Bottles.[32]
- The next step in the quest is to get an Advanced Pattern Provider. It tells you to check the Extended & Advanced AE chapter to learn more about how to use it.[32]
- Encode the pattern with the Advanced Pattern Encoder. The example is a Potion of Healing, focused on Royal Treats for Modular Bees. It uses the provider's ability to send items to a specific side, so the Glass Bottles go to the TOP side of the machine.[32]
- Enable Filtered Import on the Advanced Provider. The quest says this makes it only accept items that match currently active crafting jobs, so it won't accept potions prematurely. Processing Addons can help too, especially with large crafting jobs that use the same provider.[32]
- Configure the sides of the Potion Brewer as the quest's pictures show. There is a separate layout for the Interface method.[32]
