How does Multi Builder Tool work?
8 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
The Multibuilder Tool builds whole multiblock structures for you instead of you placing every block by hand. You open its GUI with SHIFT and left click, pick a structure, and build. The arrow keys rotate the structure before you place it.[1]
The mod's project page lists structures from Mekanism, Immersive Engineering, Immersive Petroleum, NuclearCraft, QMD, IC2, TConstruct, Extreme Reactors and Draconic Evolution. It also says you can add your own multistructures in the mod configs.[1]

This is the pack's crafting recipe for the Multibuilder Tool.
Choosing and building a structure
The GUI has a Select Structure screen, and each structure button shows its dimensions. The mod also adds a Multiblock Structure category to the recipe viewer, with a Load into Multibuilder Tool tooltip so you can send a structure straight to the tool.[3]
The mod ships names for a few specific structures: PA Advanced Chemical Reactor, Extreme Turbine (Reinforced), Extreme Reactor (Reinforced) and IG Small Chemical Reactor.[3]
If you build without picking a structure first, the tool tells you to use the GUI to select one. It also refuses to place a structure that would go past the world build height limits, and it won't place or break blocks in a protected area.[3]
Blocks and inventory
You need the required blocks in your inventory to build. If you are short, the tool tells you how many more of a block you need. The tool also has its own inventory, and its tooltip shows how many slots are used. If there is no room for the structure's items in that inventory, it warns you.[1][3]
Energy
The tool stores energy in FE. Its tooltip shows the energy stored against the maximum, and building or dismantling with too little energy fails with a message telling you how much you need. The pack sets these values in the common config file.[3][4]
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.energyPerBlock]] is 100 FE per block placed (allowed range 1 to 10,000).[4]
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.maxEnergy]] is 10,000,000 FE, the tool's maximum capacity (allowed range 100,000 to 100,000,000).[4]
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.energyTransferRate]] is 100,000 FE/tick for charging and discharging (allowed range 10,000 to 1,000,000).[4]
Block replacement
The tool can swap in equivalent blocks when you don't have the exact one. If a structure needs an elite mechanical pipe and you only have a basic one, the builder uses the basic pipe. The groups of interchangeable blocks are listed in [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Block Replacement Settings.blockEquivalencySets]], one group per entry.[4]
This pack defines these groups:[4]
- The Mekanism mechanical pipe tiers, from basic to ultimate.[4]
- The mm item, fluid and energy ports, grouped by type and by input or output across their size tiers.[4]
- The Blood Magic runes, including the variants ending in 2.[4]
- The Void Miners modifiers, with separate groups for the miner modifiers and the solar modifiers.[4]
- The assembler matrix wall and glass from expatternprovider, and the matrix crafter and pattern blocks from extendedae_plus.[4]
- The NuclearCraft fission reactor glass and casing.[4]
Dismantling
Hold F to dismantle a structure, and a progress percentage is shown while you hold it. You can only dismantle structures you built yourself, and not in a protected area. Dismantling needs energy too. When it finishes, you are told how many blocks were collected.[3]
AE2 ME network integration
The GUI has two ME options. Use ME Wireless Inventory requires a wireless terminal in your inventory. Autocraft Missing Blocks requests ME autocrafting for blocks you lack when building. The GUI labels autocrafting as experimental and asks you to post bugs if you hit problems.[3]
Autocrafting can fail for several reasons, and each has its own message: the ME network is not available, there is no pattern for the block, ingredients are missing, or all crafting CPUs are busy.[3]
NuclearCraft reactor designs
The GUI has a paste button for NuclearCraft reactor designs from your clipboard. It accepts JSON, file paths and URLs, and it reports whether the design loaded or failed to parse. If the clipboard is empty, it tells you so.[3]
Which Multi Builder Tool config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.51.4-hotfix-2 guide
Everything here lives in one file, config/mbtool-common.toml. It has two groups of options: the energy settings, which decide how much power the tool holds and spends, and the block replacement sets, which decide what the builder may swap in when you lack an exact block.[4]
Energy settings
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.energyPerBlock]] is the energy cost for each block placed, in FE. This pack sets it to 100, and the allowed range is 1 to 10,000.[4]
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.maxEnergy]] is the most FE the Multibuilder Tool can store. This pack sets it to 10,000,000, and the allowed range is 100,000 to 100,000,000.[4]
- [[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Energy Settings.energyTransferRate]] is the transfer rate for charging and discharging, in FE per tick. This pack sets it to 100,000, and the allowed range is 10,000 to 1,000,000.[4]
With these values, the per-block cost and the capacity are the two numbers to watch when you plan a big build.[4]
Block replacement sets
[[config:config/mbtool-common.toml#Block Replacement Settings.blockEquivalencySets]] is a list of groups of blocks that count as equivalent. If a structure asks for one block in a group and you only carry another from the same group, the builder uses what you have. The config's own example is a structure that needs an elite mechanical pipe: if you only have a basic mechanical pipe, the builder places the basic one.[4]
This pack fills the list with these groups:[4]
- The basic, advanced, elite and ultimate Mekanism mechanical pipes.[4]
- The item, fluid and energy ports from the mm namespace, with input and output kept as separate groups and each size tier listed together within its group.[4]
- Blood Magic runes, with the base runes and their second variants together in one group.[4]
- Void Miners modifiers, with the energy, speed and item modifiers in one group and the solar efficiency and weather modifiers in another.[4]
- The assembler matrix wall and glass from the expatternprovider namespace, and the matching crafter and pattern blocks from the extendedae_plus namespace.[4]
- NuclearCraft fission reactor glass and casing.[4]
