What is Rechiseled?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Rechiseled is a decorative building mod. It lets you swap one block for many different decorative variants of it, and those variants use connected textures. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, so it's a great pick when you want your builds to look less plain.[1]

This pack includes Rechiseled 1.2.5 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[2]

How it works

Everything revolves around the chisel. Right-click it to open the chiseling screen, where you put in a block and preview all of its variants. You can swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs right there.[1]

You can also chisel blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant. If you've stored a block in the chisel, that block acts as a filter and the left-clicked block turns into that exact variant.[1]

  • Most variants come with stairs and slabs, and the connected textures link up between the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant.[1]
  • The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]
  • If your blocks aren't connecting, most blocks have a version with and without connected textures. Use the toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to switch.[1]

Who it's for

It's for builders. Rechiseled doesn't change how the pack's tech or progression works. It's a cosmetic tool for giving your base and your builds more variety, using blocks you already have.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show where Rechiseled fits in the pack's progression. No quests involve this mod, it isn't on the ATM Star path, and no in-pack chisel recipe is available here, so check in game for how to get the chisel.

Unverified Rechiseled has official addons for Create, Applied Energistics 2 and Cobblemon, but the sources don't confirm whether any of them are installed in this pack.

How do you get started with Rechiseled?

3 parts

Rechiseled is all about decorative blocks. It adds over 600 variants of vanilla blocks, many with connected textures. Everything starts with one tool, the Chisel, so that is the first thing to make.[1][3]

Craft the chisel

The chisel is crafted with a recipe the pack adds itself through KubeJS, so use the recipe below.[3]

The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like. One is all you will ever need.[1]

Learn the two ways to chisel

  • Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen. Put a block in and you can preview all its variants, then swap between them. The screen also gives you the stairs and slabs of each variant.[1]
  • Left-click a placed block with the chisel to change it in the world. With nothing stored in the chisel, you get a random variant.[1]
  • If you have a block stored in the chisel, it acts as a filter. Any block you left-click is turned into that variant.[1]
Tip: If your blocks are not connecting, you probably have the version without connecting textures. Most blocks come in both, and the button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen toggles between them.[1]

Try the pack's polishing recipe

The pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe (through Create: Dragons Plus). It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting. It is a handy way to get the polished version if you are already working with Create.[3]

Sandpaper Polishing (create)

Added by the pack, not part of the mod's defaults.

How does Rechiseled work?

6 parts

Rechiseled is all about swapping blocks between decorative variants, many of them with connected textures. It says it adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, and everything runs through one tool: the chisel.[1]

Getting the chisel

In this pack the Chisel has its own crafting recipe, added by the pack through a KubeJS script. The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you want.[1][3]

Two ways to use the chisel

  • Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1]
  • Left-click a block with the chisel to swap it for one of its decorative variants.[1]

The chiseling screen

You put a block into the screen and it previews all of that block's variants. From there you can swap between the variants and also get their stairs and slabs.[1]

Most blocks come in a version with connecting textures and a version without. The button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between them. If your blocks are not connecting, that button is the first thing to check.[1]

Chiseling blocks already placed

You don't have to pick up a block to change it. Left-clicking a placed block with the chisel turns it into a random variant. If the chisel has a block stored in it, that block works as a filter, and any block you left-click is turned into that variant instead.[1]

Tip: Store the block you want in the chisel before you start clicking around a build. That way you get exactly that variant and not a random one.[1]

Stairs and slabs

Most variants have stairs and slabs, and you get them from the chiseling screen. The connecting textures also link up between the full block, the stairs and the slab of the same variant, so mixed builds still look seamless.[1]

A pack-added polishing step

This pack adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe through Create: Dragons Plus. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[3]

Sandpaper Polishing (create)

Recipe id: create_dragons_plus:sandpaper_polishing/rechiseled/basalt_bordered_connecting

How do you progress through Rechiseled?

2 parts

The sources for this pack show only a few Rechiseled recipes, so there are no tiers to lay out here. What they do show is how you get the Chisel and how one connecting block gets polished.[3]

Getting the chisel

The Chisel is the tool at the heart of Rechiseled. In this pack its recipe is a shaped recipe added through KubeJS, so treat it as the pack's own recipe and not as the mod's default.[3]

Polishing a connecting block

The pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe, with an id from Create: Dragons Plus. It turns Basalt Bordered Connecting into Basalt Bordered Polished Connecting.[3]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?

1 part

Rechiseled has a short history in this pack. FTB StoneBlock 4 1.6.0 ships Rechiseled 1.1.6+a, and the mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier.[4]

Mod releases

  • Rechiseled 1.1.6: the initial release of Rechiseled for Minecraft 1.20.5 and 1.20.6.[5]
  • Rechiseled 1.1.6a: fixed missing mining tags for chiseled blocks. This is the version your pack runs.[4][5]

The mod's changelog lists nothing newer than 1.1.6a, so there are no later mod changes to track for this pack.[5]
