What is Rechiseled?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Rechiseled is a decorative building mod. It lets you swap one block for many different decorative variants of it, and those variants use connected textures. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, so it's a great pick when you want your builds to look less plain.[1]
This pack includes Rechiseled 1.2.5 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.[2]
How it works
Everything revolves around the chisel. Right-click it to open the chiseling screen, where you put in a block and preview all of its variants. You can swap between those variants and their stairs and slabs right there.[1]
You can also chisel blocks that are already placed. Left-click a block with the chisel and it changes to a random variant. If you've stored a block in the chisel, that block acts as a filter and the left-clicked block turns into that exact variant.[1]
- Most variants come with stairs and slabs, and the connected textures link up between the full block, stairs and slab of the same variant.[1]
- The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]
- If your blocks aren't connecting, most blocks have a version with and without connected textures. Use the toggle button in the bottom right of the chiseling screen to switch.[1]
Who it's for
It's for builders. Rechiseled doesn't change how the pack's tech or progression works. It's a cosmetic tool for giving your base and your builds more variety, using blocks you already have.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show where Rechiseled fits in the pack's progression. No quests involve this mod, it isn't on the ATM Star path, and no in-pack chisel recipe is available here, so check in game for how to get the chisel.
Unverified Rechiseled has official addons for Create, Applied Energistics 2 and Cobblemon, but the sources don't confirm whether any of them are installed in this pack.
How do you get started with Rechiseled?
3 parts
Rechiseled lets you swap blocks for decorative variants that have connected textures. Everything starts with one tool, so your first job is to make the Chisel.[1][3]
First, craft the chisel
The chisel uses the mod's own crafting recipe, and the pack hasn't changed it. Here is the exact recipe from this pack:[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron ingot |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel
The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you want.[1]
Next, learn the two ways to use it
- Right-click with the chisel to open the chiseling screen.[1]
- Put a block into the screen. It previews all of that block's variants, and you can swap between the variants and their stairs and slabs.[1]
- Most blocks come with and without connecting textures. Use the button in the bottom right of the screen to toggle between them.[1]
- To change a block that is already placed, left-click it with the chisel. It turns into a random variant.[1]
- If you have stored a block in the chisel, that block acts as a filter. Any block you left-click becomes that variant instead of a random one.[1]
Then, try the stonecutter shortcut
This pack also adds stonecutting recipes for Rechiseled blocks, so you can make variants straight from the base block without the chisel. For example, acacia planks can be cut into Acacia Planks Beams:[3]
Stonecutting
Recipe id: minecraft:kjs/rechiseled_acacia_planks_beams
It isn't just a handful of recipes. The pack's recipe dump counts 6,045 stonecutting recipes that take a vanilla ingredient and make a Rechiseled item. They cover 3,627 different results from 44 different ingredients. Stairs, slabs and connecting versions get their own recipes too, such as Acacia Plank Beams Slab.[3]
The mod page says Rechiseled adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks, and most of them have stairs and slabs.[1]
How does Rechiseled work?
4 parts
Rechiseled is a decorative block mod built around a single tool, the chisel, so there is no power, fluid or multiblock setup to learn here. That keeps this section short, but the chisel has a few handy tricks.[1]
The chisel
The Chisel swaps blocks between their decorative variants. Right-click it to open the chiseling screen. Left-click a block to swap between its variants. The mod adds over 600 decorative variants of vanilla blocks.[1]
The chisel has no durability, so you can use it as many times as you like.[1]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron ingot |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel
In this pack the chisel is crafted with the mod's own recipe, not one added by the pack.
The chiseling screen
Put a block into the screen and it previews all of its variants. You can exchange the block for any of those variants, and for their stairs and slabs too.[1]
Most blocks come in two versions, with and without connecting textures. The button in the bottom right of the screen toggles between them. If your blocks aren't connecting, that's the first thing to check.[1]
Chiseling blocks already placed
You don't have to pick up a block to change it. Left-click a placed block with the chisel and it turns into a random variant. If you've stored a block in the chisel, that block acts as a filter, and any block you left-click becomes that variant instead.[1]
Stonecutting in this pack
This pack adds its own stonecutting recipes for Rechiseled. For example, acacia planks can be cut into Acacia Planks Beams, Acacia Planks Brick Pattern and Acacia Planks Brick Paving. The connecting versions, slabs and stairs have their own stonecutting recipes too.[3]

There are 6,045 of these stonecutting recipes in total, making 3,627 different results from 44 different ingredients.[3]
How do you progress through Rechiseled?
2 parts
Rechiseled is a building-block mod, and the pack's recipes show a short two-step path rather than a ladder of tiers: make the Chisel, then use the stonecutter to turn blocks into Rechiseled variants.[3]
Step 1: the chisel
The chisel uses the mod's own shaped crafting recipe, and the pack has not changed it. The recipe below shows the exact layout.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron ingot |
| any wooden rod | Empty slot |
Recipe id: rechiseled:chisel
This is the mod's own recipe, not one added by the pack.
Step 2: stonecutting
This is where the pack does its own thing. The Rechiseled blocks come from stonecutting recipes that the pack adds. In total there are 6,045 stonecutting recipes that turn items from the minecraft namespace into Rechiseled items. They cover 3,627 different results and 44 different ingredients.[3]
Acacia planks are a good example because their whole set is shown in the recipe data. They can be stonecut into these patterns:[3]
- Acacia Planks Beams[3]
- Acacia Planks Brick Pattern[3]
- Acacia Planks Brick Paving[3]
- Acacia Planks Bricks[3]
- Acacia Planks Crate[3]
- Acacia Planks Diagonal Stripes[3]
- Acacia Planks Diagonal Tiles[3]
Each pattern also has stonecutting recipes for a slab and a stairs version, and for "connecting" versions of the full block, slab and stairs. For example, Acacia Plank Beams Slab and Acacia Plank Beams Stairs both come straight from the stonecutter.[3]

What changed in Rechiseled between versions?
3 parts
This pack ships Rechiseled 1.2.6, the build for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge. It was first included in Project Infinity 0.1 0.0.47.3 or earlier. The notes below come from the mod's own changelog.[4][5]
1.2.x: the big chisel overhaul
Version 1.2.0 is the one to know. It added stairs and slabs for all of Rechiseled's decorative blocks, and for the vanilla chiseling recipe entries too. The chiseling screen got a scrollbar, a search field and filters, and it now shows an indicator for chiselable blocks in your inventory.[5]
- You can now chisel blocks in the world by left-clicking them with a chisel.[5]
- Rechiseled's textures take up 76% less atlas space.[5]
- Flowers and other vegetation can now be placed on dirt blocks from Rechiseled.[5]
- Chiseling recipes can now include stairs and slabs, and other mods can register plugins to add or modify chiseling recipes.[5]
- JEI and REI integration was improved, and tags were added for the blocks, stairs and slabs of each block type.[5]
- The screen preview got better lighting and fixes for internal faces on transparent blocks and for connecting blocks like glass panes. A couple of misaligned textures and crashes with the mod Quad were also fixed.[5]
1.2.1 to 1.2.6: fixes
- 1.2.1: fixed in-world chiseling not working on a server.[5]
- 1.2.2: fixed being able to obtain oversized item stacks from the chisel.[5]
- 1.2.3: replaced the default JEI scrollbar with custom smooth scrolling, and fixed the Edged Block of Amethyst texture connecting incorrectly.[5]
- 1.2.4: fixed the chisel stack not always updating when you shift-click items out of its slot, and fixed stack sizes of 128 and greater not saving correctly in the chisel.[5]
- 1.2.5: fixed non-connecting blocks also connecting with Fusion 1.3.0, and fixed the Compacted Coal Block texture.[5]
- 1.2.6 (the version in this pack): added Simplified Chinese and Mexican Spanish translations, updated the Ukrainian translations, and fixed a crash with newer versions of Just Enough Items.[5]
Earlier highlights
- 1.1.3: added 94 variants for blue ice, bone block, iron block, lapis block, netherite block and redstone block, plus some new variants for stone, cobblestone and cobbled deepslate.[5]
- 1.1.4 to 1.1.5b: fixed the redstone block and blue ice chiseling recipes and fixed copper blocks not being mineable. Cut copper was removed from the copper block chiseling recipe, and the regular netherite block, which was missing, was added back to the netherite chiseling recipe.[5]
- 1.1.5c: fixed blocks sometimes not rendering in the chisel GUI, and fixed block lighting there.[5]
