Oritech Things is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 0.0.46. Oritech Things is an open-source tech mod (currently for Minecraft 1.21) with the goal to add additional things for Oritech Mods (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Oritech Things?

2 parts

Oritech Things is an open-source add-on tech mod that adds extra things for Oritech, and it has a strong dependency on Oritech. This pack includes version 0.0.46.[1][2]

What it adds

The headline feature is tiered addons for your Oritech machines. Here is what the mod page lists:[1]

  • Speed, Efficiency, Capacitor and Acceptor addons in tiers 2 to 9, for example Speed Addon Tier 2 and Acceptor Addon Tier 9.[1]
  • Efficient Speed addons (speed and efficiency combined in one addon) and Processing addons, also in tiers 2 to 9.[1]
  • Particle Accelerator extras: the Advanced Target Designator, which stores the position of a Particle Accelerator, a Particle Accelerator Speed Control block that emits a redstone signal of 15 when the accelerator speed is greater than your value, and an Accelerator Magnetic Field block that can shrink the particle ring using energy.[1]
  • The Exo JetPack, which grants creative flight while consuming energy or turbo fuel, and the Frame Placer, a tool to define and auto-build the Frame Structure for the Destroyer.[1]
  • Infested Amethyst Blocks that replace some Amethyst Blocks in geodes, and the Amethyst Fish mob that spawns when one is broken.[1]
Tip: Tiered addons emit light (level 15) when they are in use. The mod page says their stats can be edited in the config, but the tooltip in the machine's addon section is bugged because of Oritech, so don't rely on it for the numbers.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

In this pack's quest book, the mod's addons appear in the Oritech chapter, which is in the Tech Mods group (chapter 30 of 31 in the book) and has 38 quests. You start with "Welcome To Oritech!" quest, then "Making Multiblocks with Machine Cores" quest, then "Machine Customization!" quest.[3]

Four quests come right after Machine Customization! and list an Oritech Things tier 2 to 9 addon among their tasks, next to the base Oritech addon: "Machine Speed Addon" quest, "Machine Efficiency Addon" quest, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest and "Machine Acceptor Addon" quest. They sit alongside "Redstone Control Unit Addon" quest, "Quarry Addon" quest and "Machine Hunter Addon" quest.[3]

The text of 15 quests in this chapter is not covered here, so read those in the quest book itself.[3]

Unverified The sources here do not show this mod on the ATM Star quest path, so this guide does not place it there.

How do you get started with Oritech Things?

3 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, and its project page describes it as an open-source mod currently for Minecraft 1.21, so your first steps are Oritech steps. The pack's quest book covers them in the "Oritech" chapter (group "Tech Mods", chapter 30 of 31, 38 quests). For now, follow it in order and you'll reach the Oritech Things items naturally.[1][3]

The first steps, in order

  1. For now, start with "Welcome To Oritech!" quest. The quest text says Raw Nickel is the main crafting material for the mod, and the quest task asks you for a nickel ingot.[3]
  2. Make a Machine Core and a Motor (Motor) for "Making Multiblocks with Machine Cores" quest. The quest text says most machines are multiblocks built with Machine Cores, that the machine's tooltip tells you how many cores it needs, and that there are 7 core tiers. For now, it says the first 2 tiers are enough to get started.[3]
  3. Next comes the Foundry (Foundry) from "The Foundry" quest. The quest text says it needs 3 Machine Cores in total and calls it key for progression, because it makes the alloys needed for Oritech machines.[3]
  4. For now, the Assembler (Assembler) from "The Assembler" quest comes after the Foundry in the quest book. The quest text says it has a 2x2 crafting grid.[3]
  5. For now, craft the Machine Extender (Machine Addon Extender) for "Machine Customization!" quest. The quest text says addons attach to specific sides of a machine or to an Extender, and the Tier 2 addon recipes shown for this pack each take one.[3][4]

Your first Oritech Things items

Oritech Things adds tiered addons, from Tier 2 up to Tier 9, on top of the basic Oritech addons. Tier 2 is where you start, and the recipes need the matching basic addon first.[4][5]

In the quest book these addon quests sit right after "Machine Customization!" quest. For now, the speed, efficiency, capacitor and acceptor addon quests each ask you for the basic Oritech addon plus a tier addon from this mod, for example Speed Addon Tier 2.[3]

The Tier 2 Speed Addon can be crafted by hand. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's version.[4]

Tip: The higher tiers build on the lower ones. For example, the Assembler recipe for Speed Addon Tier 3 takes a Speed Addon Tier 2, so craft the tiers in order.[4]

A handy early tool

The mod's project page, which describes the mod as currently for Minecraft 1.21, says the Frame Placer is a tool for defining and auto-building the frame structure for the Destroyer. It automatically destroys all the blocks in the area and places the frame around the perimeter, so be careful what's inside before you use it.[1]

The Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor can wait for now. It links to a target Particle Accelerator, and in the quest book the Particle Accelerator quest comes after the Atomic Forge quest.[3][5]

How does Oritech Things work?

7 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, so everything here plugs into Oritech machines. It adds a long ladder of tiered addons, plus a few tools and blocks that change how the Particle Accelerator, the Drone Port and the Destroyer frame work. Here is how each system behaves in this pack.[1][5]

Tiered addons

The mod adds six addon families, each running from tier 2 to tier 9: Speed, Efficiency, Efficient Speed (which combines speed and efficiency in one block), Processing, Capacitor and Acceptor. You attach them to a machine or to a machine extender. An addon that is actually in use gives off light at level 15.[1][5]

Tiers build on each other. The tier 3 recipes shown in the sources take the tier 2 addon as an ingredient and are made in the Assembler, and Acceptor Addon Tier 6 takes Acceptor Addon Tier 5 and is made in the Atomic Forge. The Atomic Forge has 27 recipes that make this mod's items.[4]

Watch out: The mod's project page says addon stats can be edited in its config, and that the stat tooltip inside the machine (in the addons section) is bugged because of Oritech. Do not trust that tooltip for exact numbers.[1]

Unverified The exact stat values of each addon tier are set in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show that config for this pack, so they are not confirmed.

Linking the Particle Accelerator

The Advanced Target Designator stores the position of a Particle Accelerator. Both the Magnetic Field and the Speed Sensor use that stored position to link to the accelerator. The pack changed its recipe.[1][4][5]

Advanced Target DesignatorChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: oritechthings:advanced_target_designator

The in-game tooltip says to right-click the accelerator with the designator to save its position, while the mod's project page says shift right-click. If one does not work for you, try the other.[1][5]

Accelerator Magnetic Field

The Accelerator Magnetic Field helps particles take tight turns with magnetic guidance. Once it is linked to an accelerator, you can make the particle ring much smaller, at the cost of energy. Efficiency and Capacitor addons are compatible with it. The pack changed its recipe.[1][4][5]

  1. Use the Advanced Target Designator on the particle accelerator to save its position.[5]
  2. Place the Magnetic Field block within the particle accelerator ring.[5]
  3. Right-click the magnetic field to link it to the accelerator.[5]
Watch out: The magnetic field must sit inside the accelerator area at the same Y level, or the link fails. The target also has to be a particle accelerator controller. Only one magnetic field is checked per accelerator, so a second one will not add anything.[5]

The game also warns that magnetic fields can be turned off in the server configuration. If yours does nothing, check that setting first.[5]

Accelerator motor and Speed Sensor

For the accelerator motor, place Speed or Efficiency addons underneath it to improve its performance.[1][5]

The Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor is a redstone block. You link it to an accelerator with the Advanced Target Designator, and it can be switched ON or OFF in its GUI. It outputs a redstone signal of 15 when the accelerator speed is greater than the value you set. The page also mentions a greater or lesser check. The speed limit accepts values up to 999,999.[1][5]

The sensor has two modes. In Manual mode you set a specific velocity threshold. In Auto mode it detects the speed required by the active particle recipes by itself. The linked accelerator has to be within 128 blocks of the sensor.[1][5]

Cross-dimensional Drone Ports

Attach the Cross Dimensional to a Drone Port, then use the Advanced Target Designator to set a destination Drone Port in another dimension. After that, the drone delivers across dimensions whenever its inventory is not empty. Drone Ports are the only machines that support cross-dimensional transfers. The pack changed this addon's recipe.[1][4][5]

Without the addon, the game tells you it is required for inter-dimensional transfers. Cross-dimensional addons can also be disabled in the server configuration. You may see warnings that the target dimension or the server is unavailable.[5]

Frame Placer

The Frame Placer defines and builds the frame structure for the Destroyer. It destroys every block in the chosen area and places the frame around the perimeter. You set the dimensions and an offset, and the screen shows how many frame blocks are required before you confirm or abort.[1][5]

Watch out: Since it clears everything in the area, check the dimensions carefully before you confirm. The tool also complains if you are missing frame blocks, if the machine is not assembled yet, or if the target is not a frame-compatible machine.[1][5]

Exo Jetpack

The mod also adds an Exo Jetpack. It grants creative flight and consumes energy or turbo fuel, and it warns you when its energy is low.[1][5]

How do you progress through Oritech Things?

3 parts

In this pack, Oritech Things adds higher-tier versions of the Oritech machine addons, running from tier 2 up to tier 9.[4]

The pack's quest book places Oritech in the Tech Mods group, as chapter 30 of 31, with 38 quests. That chapter is your roadmap for unlocking the addons.[3]

The quest path

The chapter opens with "Welcome To Oritech!" quest, which asks for a Nickel Ingot. The quest text says Raw Nickel is the main crafting material for the mod. Next comes "Making Multiblocks with Machine Cores" quest. Its text says there are 7 tiers of Machine Cores, and each tier raises the total number of addons that can be attached to the machine multiblock. For now, it says, you can make either of the first 2 tiers to get started.[3]

After that the quest book's main chain runs "The Foundry" quest, then "The Assembler" quest, then "The Power Of The End" quest, then "Flux Gate" quest, and finally "Atomic Forge" quest. The Foundry quest says the machine needs 3 Machine Cores in total and calls it the machine that creates the alloys needed for Oritech machines. The Flux Gate quest describes flux gates as advanced components used to craft late-game machines.[3]

"Machine Customization!" quest also follows the Machine Cores quest and leads to the addon quests: "Machine Acceptor Addon" quest, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest, "Machine Speed Addon" quest and "Machine Efficiency Addon" quest. Each of those quests asks for the base Oritech addon plus any one of the tier 2 to 9 versions from Oritech Things.[3]

Addon tier breakdown

  • Tier 2: you can craft these in a normal crafting grid or in the Assembler. The pack changed the grid recipes for the Acceptor, Efficiency, Speed and Processing addons, while the Capacitor grid recipe is the mod's own.[4]
  • Tiers 3 to 5: these are made in the Assembler, and each one builds on the tier below it. The pack changed the Assembler recipes for Efficiency (tiers 2 to 5), Processing (tiers 2 to 5) and Speed (tiers 3 to 5). The Acceptor and Capacitor Assembler recipes are the mod's own. Every tier 5 addon recipe uses a Flux Gate.[4]
  • Tiers 6 to 9: these move to the Atomic Forge, and again each builds on the previous tier. The Acceptor and Capacitor recipes are shown for tiers 6 to 9, and Efficiency for tiers 6 and 7. Tier 8 uses Prometheum and tier 9 uses the Ultimate Machine Core.[4]

The "Prometheum" quest quest comes after the Atomic Forge quest. It describes Prometheum as an advanced material that can only be produced in an Atomic Forge, and says it is essential for crafting Prometheum Tools and the Ultimate Machine Core.[3]

Tip: The Atomic Forge quest says the machine needs 8 Machine Cores in total to build. It also says energy pipes cannot connect to it directly, so it needs to be powered wirelessly by an Enderic Laser.[3]

Other Oritech Things items

How does Oritech Things work with other mods?

4 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, and the mod itself says it has a strong dependency on it. In this pack almost every Oritech Things recipe is built from Oritech parts. The pack also swaps in materials from its own FTB Materials items in a number of recipes.[1][4]

Oritech addons are the base

Every tiered addon starts from the matching Oritech addon. The Tier 2 versions also need the Machine Addon Extender, and each higher tier takes the previous tier as an ingredient. Tiers 2 to 5 of the acceptor, capacitor, efficiency, processing and speed addons are made in the Oritech Assembler. Efficient Speed Addons are made in the Atomic Forge from Tier 2 onwards.[4]

For the acceptor, capacitor and efficiency lines, the Atomic Forge recipes for the top tiers ask for progressively rarer Oritech parts. Tier 6 needs an Advanced Computing Engine, Tier 7 a Heisenberg Compensator, Tier 8 Prometheum and Tier 9 an Ultimate Machine Core.[4]

Where the pack changes things

Several recipes are marked as changed by the pack. The Tier 2 efficiency addon is one of them, and it uses Silicon and Block of Electrum alongside Oritech parts.[4]

The same pattern shows up further up the chain. The pack's Assembler recipes for Speed Addon Tiers 3 to 5 use Steel Ingot. Those for Efficiency and Processing Addon Tiers 3 to 5 use Electrum Ingot. The Tier 2 Capacitor Addon recipes are shown as the mod's own, with no pack change.[4]

Particle accelerator and utility items

The Advanced Target Designator is an upgrade of Oritech's Target Designator, and the pack changed its recipe to use silicon. The mod uses it to store the position of a Particle Accelerator.[1][4]

In the quest book

Oritech Things has no chapter of its own. Its addons appear in the "Oritech" chapter, in the "Tech Mods" group (chapter 30 of 31). The acceptor, capacitor, speed and efficiency addon quests each ask for the Oritech addon plus any Tier 2 to 9 version from Oritech Things. All four come after "Machine Customization!" quest, which asks for the Machine Addon Extender.[3]

The addon quests are "Machine Acceptor Addon" quest, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest, "Machine Speed Addon" quest and "Machine Efficiency Addon" quest. The chapter has 38 quests, and the text of 23 of them is not shown here, so check the quest book for those.[3]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Oritech Things?

5 parts

In the pack's quest book, the quests that involve this mod all sit in one chapter: "Oritech", in the Tech Mods group (chapter 30 of 31, with 38 quests). This mod's own items only appear in four of the addon quests, but the quests leading up to them are the path you follow, so here is the order the book gives. These are the tasks the quests ask for, not a full description of the machines.[3]

The opening quests

  1. "Welcome To Oritech!" quest is the entry point. The quest text says you start with Raw Nickel, the main crafting material of the mod, and the task asks you to hand in a Nickel Ingot.[3]
  2. "Making Multiblocks with Machine Cores" quest comes next. It asks for any Machine Core (the text says there are 7 tiers) plus a Motor, and it says that for now you can make either of the first 2 tiers.[3]
  3. The chapter then branches. "The Foundry" quest, "Machine Customization!" quest, "It's Crushing Time" quest and "Spin To Win" quest all come after the core quest.[3]

Addon quests (where this mod comes in)

"Machine Customization!" quest asks for a Machine Extender, and the addon quests come after it. Four of them ask for two items: the base Oritech addon, plus one of the tier 2 to 9 addon blocks from this mod.[3]

Machines and progression

Reactor quests

After "Nuclear Reactor Control Panel" quest the book lists "Designing Your Reactor" quest, "Reactor Rods" quest, "Reactor Heat Absorbers" quest and "Energy & Redstone Ports" quest. "Heat Vents & Heat Pipes" quest also comes after the control panel.[3]

Souls and the Particle Accelerator

"Soul Enchanting" quest is followed by "Collecting Souls" quest, a checkmark quest, and then by "Spawning Mobs" quest. "The Tainted Refinery" quest comes after both the Refinery quest and Soul Enchanting, and it is an observation quest.[3]

The quest text says "Particle Accelerator" quest is split into several smaller quests that come after it: "Accelerator Designs" quest, "Accelerator Setup" quest, "Particle Accelerator Sensor" quest and "Tachyons" quest.[3]

What changed in Oritech Things between versions?

1 part

Oritech Things has been in FTB Skies 2: Aero since version 1.0.3 or earlier, and Aero 1.10.0 ships version 0.0.46. Here are the changes from the mod's own changelogs, up to the release in your pack.[2]

Mod changelog

  • 0.0.46 (the version in this pack): fixed the Ukrainian translations, and removed a useless recipe that pointed to an item that doesn't exist.[2][6]
  • 0.0.45: credited Tenwoc for the Ukrainian translation.[7]
  • 0.0.44: fixed a bug that happened when Mekanism cables were connected to tiered addons.[8]

The 0.0.44 fix is the one to know about if you run Mekanism cables next to tiered addons. The 0.0.46 build in your pack is newer than that release.[2][8]
