What is Oritech Things?

3 parts

Oritech Things is an open-source add-on for Oritech. It doesn't stand alone: it depends on Oritech and adds extra upgrades and utility items on top of it. This pack ships version 0.0.46. If you're already building Oritech machines and want more ways to tune them, this mod is for you.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Tiered addons for speed, efficiency, processing, capacitor and acceptor, each from tier 2 to 9. There is also an "efficient speed" addon that combines speed and efficiency. When these are attached to a machine or an extender and in use, they emit light level 15.[1]
  • The Exo JetPack, which gives you creative flight while consuming energy or turbo fuel.[1]
  • Particle Accelerator tools: the Advanced Target Designator stores an accelerator's position, and the Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor emits a redstone signal when the accelerator's speed is above or below a limit you set. Its Auto mode detects the speed the current recipe needs.[1]
  • A Frame Placer that defines and auto-builds the frame structure for the Destroyer. It clears the blocks in the area and places the frame around the perimeter.[1]
  • A Cross Dimensional addon for the Drone Port, so you can point a Drone Port at a destination in another dimension using the Advanced Target Designator.[1]
  • Infested Amethyst Blocks in geodes, which spawn Amethyst Fish when broken. The fish can drop fluxite and amethyst shards, and more rarely amethyst blocks and budding amethyst.[1]

Accelerator Magnetic Field

The Accelerator Magnetic Field links to a Particle Accelerator through the Advanced Target Designator. It lets you spend energy to shrink the particle ring considerably. Efficiency and capacitor addons are compatible with it.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack's Oritech quest chapter points you at this mod in a few places. Four quests pair a base Oritech addon (acceptor, capacitor, speed or efficiency) with the matching Oritech Things tier 2 to 9 addon: a quest in "Oritech", "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest, a quest in "Oritech" and a quest in "Oritech". They are the pack's cue to move on to higher-tier upgrades once you have the basic ones.[3]

Another quest, "Particle Accelerator" quest, pairs the Oritech accelerator controller with the Accelerator Magnetic Field, so it sits in the particle accelerator part of the chapter.[3]

Tip: The addon stats can be edited in the mod's config. The tooltip in the machine's addon section is bugged because of Oritech, so don't trust it for exact numbers.[1]

How do you get started with Oritech Things?

5 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, so your first steps here all build on Oritech's own machine addons. The mod adds tiered versions of those addons, from tier 2 up to tier 9, for speed, efficiency, capacitor and acceptor. When one is attached to a machine or an extender and actually in use, it gives off light level 15.[1]

Your first items, in order

  1. Get the plain Oritech addon for the stat you want: Speed Addon, Efficiency Addon, Capacitor Addon or Acceptor Addon. You will also need a Machine Addon Extender. Every tier 2 recipe starts from these.[4]
  2. Make the tier 2 version of that addon, such as Speed Addon Tier 2. You can craft it by hand or make it in the Assembler. The recipes are below.[4]
  3. Move up to tiers 3, 4 and 5 in the Assembler. This is where the pack starts changing things, so check the recipes below.[4]
  4. Tiers 6 to 8 are made in the Atomic Forge, and so is tier 9 for acceptor, capacitor and efficiency. The pack changed those tier 9 recipes.[4]

Tier 2 recipes

Each addon type has a hand-crafted tier 2 recipe. Here are speed and efficiency first.[4]

Going past tier 2

Watch out: The pack changed the Assembler recipes for tier 3 and tier 4 on all four addon types, and for tier 5 on speed and efficiency. It also changed the tier 9 Atomic Forge recipes for acceptor, capacitor and efficiency. Follow the in-pack recipes, not recipes you remember from the standalone mod.[4]

Quests that follow this path

The Oritech quest chapter has one quest for each addon type: a quest in "Oritech" for speed, a quest in "Oritech" for efficiency, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest for capacitor and a quest in "Oritech" for acceptor. Each one asks for the plain Oritech addon and for any tiered version, from tier 2 up to tier 9. Making the tier 2 blocks above is enough to cover the tier part.[3]

Later: the Accelerator Magnetic Field

Once you are working on the Particle Accelerator, Accelerator Magnetic Field is worth a look. It is a block linked to the accelerator that lets you significantly shrink the particle ring, at the cost of energy. "Particle Accelerator" quest asks for the accelerator controller and this block.[1][3]

To link it, right-click the accelerator with the Advanced Target Designator to save its position. Then place the magnetic field inside the accelerator ring and right-click the field. Only one magnetic field is checked per accelerator. Efficiency and Capacitor addons are compatible with it.[1][5]

Tip: The tooltip warns that magnetic fields can be disabled in the server configuration. If yours does nothing, check that setting.[5]

How does Oritech Things work?

7 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 guide

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, so everything here plugs into Oritech machines. It adds a long ladder of tiered addons, plus a few tools and blocks that change how the Particle Accelerator, the Drone Port and the Destroyer frame work. Here is how each system behaves in this pack.[1][6]

Tiered addons

The mod adds six addon families, each running from tier 2 to tier 9: Speed, Efficiency, Efficient Speed (which combines speed and efficiency in one block), Processing, Capacitor and Acceptor. You attach them to a machine or to a machine extender. An addon that is actually in use gives off light at level 15.[1][6]

Tiers build on each other. The tier 3 recipes shown in the sources take the tier 2 addon as an ingredient and are made in the Assembler, and Acceptor Addon Tier 6 takes Acceptor Addon Tier 5 and is made in the Atomic Forge. The Atomic Forge has 27 recipes that make this mod's items.[7]

Watch out: The mod's project page says addon stats can be edited in its config, and that the stat tooltip inside the machine (in the addons section) is bugged because of Oritech. Do not trust that tooltip for exact numbers.[1]

Unverified The exact stat values of each addon tier are set in the mod's config, and the sources here do not show that config for this pack, so they are not confirmed.

Linking the Particle Accelerator

The Advanced Target Designator stores the position of a Particle Accelerator. Both the Magnetic Field and the Speed Sensor use that stored position to link to the accelerator. The pack changed its recipe.[1][6][7]

Advanced Target DesignatorChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

The in-game tooltip says to right-click the accelerator with the designator to save its position, while the mod's project page says shift right-click. If one does not work for you, try the other.[1][6]

Accelerator Magnetic Field

The Accelerator Magnetic Field helps particles take tight turns with magnetic guidance. Once it is linked to an accelerator, you can make the particle ring much smaller, at the cost of energy. Efficiency and Capacitor addons are compatible with it. The pack changed its recipe.[1][6][7]

Crafting Shaped

Recipe id: oritechthings:accelerator_magnetic_field

  1. Use the Advanced Target Designator on the particle accelerator to save its position.[6]
  2. Place the Magnetic Field block within the particle accelerator ring.[6]
  3. Right-click the magnetic field to link it to the accelerator.[6]
Watch out: The magnetic field must sit inside the accelerator area at the same Y level, or the link fails. The target also has to be a particle accelerator controller. Only one magnetic field is checked per accelerator, so a second one will not add anything.[6]

The game also warns that magnetic fields can be turned off in the server configuration. If yours does nothing, check that setting first.[6]

Accelerator motor and Speed Sensor

For the accelerator motor, place Speed or Efficiency addons underneath it to improve its performance.[1][6]

The Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor is a redstone block. You link it to an accelerator with the Advanced Target Designator, and it can be switched ON or OFF in its GUI. It outputs a redstone signal of 15 when the accelerator speed is greater than the value you set. The page also mentions a greater or lesser check. The speed limit accepts values up to 999,999.[1][6]

The sensor has two modes. In Manual mode you set a specific velocity threshold. In Auto mode it detects the speed required by the active particle recipes by itself. The linked accelerator has to be within 128 blocks of the sensor.[1][6]

Cross-dimensional Drone Ports

Attach the Cross Dimensional to a Drone Port, then use the Advanced Target Designator to set a destination Drone Port in another dimension. After that, the drone delivers across dimensions whenever its inventory is not empty. Drone Ports are the only machines that support cross-dimensional transfers. The pack changed this addon's recipe.[1][6][7]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: oritechthings:assembler/addon_block_cross_dimensional

Without the addon, the game tells you it is required for inter-dimensional transfers. Cross-dimensional addons can also be disabled in the server configuration. You may see warnings that the target dimension or the server is unavailable.[6]

Frame Placer

The Frame Placer defines and builds the frame structure for the Destroyer. It destroys every block in the chosen area and places the frame around the perimeter. You set the dimensions and an offset, and the screen shows how many frame blocks are required before you confirm or abort.[1][6]

Frame PlacerMod recipe

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: oritechthings:frame_placer

Watch out: Since it clears everything in the area, check the dimensions carefully before you confirm. The tool also complains if you are missing frame blocks, if the machine is not assembled yet, or if the target is not a frame-compatible machine.[1][6]

Exo Jetpack

The mod also adds an Exo Jetpack. It grants creative flight and consumes energy or turbo fuel, and it warns you when its energy is low.[1][6]

How do you progress through Oritech Things?

4 parts

Oritech Things adds higher tiers of Oritech's machine addons, plus a few utility items. In this pack the addon blocks run from Tier 2 to Tier 9, and each tier is upgraded from the one below it. The crafting station changes as you climb.[3][4]

What the quests ask for

The oritech quest chapter has four addon quests: a quest in "Oritech" for acceptor, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest for capacitor, a quest in "Oritech" for speed and a quest in "Oritech" for efficiency. Each one has two tasks. One is the matching base Oritech addon. The other accepts any Oritech Things block of that type from Tier 2 up to Tier 9.[3]

Tip: Because the quest task accepts any tier from 2 to 9, a Tier 2 block such as Speed Addon Tier 2 already covers that part of the quest. You don't need to climb to Tier 9 for it.[3]

A separate quest, "Particle Accelerator" quest, pairs the Oritech Accelerator Controller with the Accelerator Magnetic Field from this mod. The magnetic field is a normal crafting table recipe.[3][4]

Tier breakdown

  • Tier 2: you can craft it at a crafting table, or build it in the Assembler. Acceptor, capacitor, efficiency, speed and processing all have both a Tier 2 crafting recipe and a Tier 2 Assembler recipe. These are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes.[4]
  • Tiers 3 and 4: these are Assembler recipes, and the pack changed them for all five addon types. Each step takes the previous tier as an input.[4]
  • Tier 5: this is also an Assembler recipe. For acceptor and capacitor it is the mod's original recipe. For speed, efficiency and processing the pack changed it.[4]
  • Tiers 6 to 8: you move to the Atomic Forge. These recipes are unchanged from the mod and exist for acceptor, capacitor, efficiency and speed.[4]
  • Tier 9: this is also an Atomic Forge recipe, and the pack changed it for acceptor, capacitor, efficiency and speed.[4]

Each tier is built from the one below it, so you can't skip steps. Here is a pack-changed Assembler step, followed by the pack-changed final step for the same speed line.[4]

Combined and special addons

Efficient Speed addons combine an Efficiency and a Speed addon of the same tier. They are made in the Atomic Forge, and the recipes shown for them cover Tiers 2 to 4, all using the mod's original recipes. One example is Efficient Speed Addon Tier 2.[4]

Cross Dimensional is made in the Assembler with the mod's original recipe.[4]

How does Oritech Things work with other mods?

3 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, and the mod's own description says it has a strong dependency on it. In this pack, nearly every recipe for the mod is built from Oritech parts. A few recipes pull in items from other mods too, and the quest book ties the two mods together.[1][4]

Oritech machines and parts

The tiered addons are upgrades of Oritech's own addons. Tier 2 can be made in a crafting table or in the Oritech assembler. Tiers 3 to 5 are assembler recipes. Tiers 6 to 9 are made in the Oritech atomic forge. Each step up uses the previous tier plus the matching base addon from Oritech, such as Speed Addon or Capacitor Addon.[4]

The extra part at each step is also Oritech's. Tier 3 uses the Motor. Tier 5 uses the Flux Gate. Tier 6 uses the Advanced Computing Engine. Tier 7 uses the Heisenberg Compensator. Tier 8 uses Prometheum.[4]

The Frame Placer is a simple one. It is a shapeless recipe that combines an Oritech machine frame with an Oritech motor.[4]

The particle accelerator parts follow the same pattern. Oritech's Magnetic Coil and Super AI Chip show up in the Accelerator Magnetic Field recipe below. The Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor is an atomic forge upgrade of Oritech's Particle Accelerator Sensor, shown after it.[4]

Where the pack changes things

The pack edits several recipes to bring in items from outside Oritech. The assembler recipes for tiers 3 and 4 of the acceptor and capacitor addons are changed. So are tiers 3 to 5 of the efficiency, processing and speed addons. Those later steps ask for a different metal per addon family: blazegold for efficiency and processing, dark steel for speed, and energite for acceptor and capacitor. Tier 4 also asks for an ultimate-tier circuit.[4]

The biggest change is at the top. In the pack, every tier 9 recipe in the atomic forge is changed to use a bio neural circuit. That covers acceptor, capacitor, efficiency, processing, speed and efficient speed.[4]

Speed Addon Tier 9Changed by the pack

Atomic Forge (oritech)

The Advanced Target Designator is also changed by the pack. Oritech's Target Designator and the Silicon Gem feature in the shapeless recipe below. The mod description says it stores the position of a Particle Accelerator.[1][4]

Quests

The pack's Oritech quest chapter has four quests that each pair a base Oritech addon with any tier from 2 to 9 of the matching Oritech Things addon: acceptor (a quest in "Oritech"), capacitor ("Machine Capacitor Addon" quest), speed (a quest in "Oritech") and efficiency (a quest in "Oritech"). Another quest ("Particle Accelerator" quest) pairs the Oritech accelerator controller with the Accelerator Magnetic Field.[3]

Tip: Because every tier builds on the one below it, you can't skip ahead. Keep the lower-tier addon around when you move up to the next tier.[4]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Oritech Things?

2 parts

In this pack, Oritech Things shows up in a single quest chapter, the "oritech" chapter. It holds five quests that involve the mod. None of them has a title, so you'll find them by their ids.[3]

The four addon quests

Four quests are about machine addons. They all unlock after the same earlier quest, "Machine Customization!" quest, so you can tackle them in any order once that one is done. Each quest has two item tasks. The first is the matching base Oritech addon. The second is the Oritech Things upgraded version of that addon, and any tier from 2 to 9 counts.[3]

The accelerator quest

The fifth quest, "Particle Accelerator" quest, sits on a different branch. It unlocks after a quest in "Oritech", not the addon prerequisite. Its tasks are Oritech's accelerator controller and the Accelerator Magnetic Field from this mod.[3]

Tip: The addon quests accept any tier from 2 to 9, so the first upgraded addon of each type you craft should be enough to satisfy the Oritech Things task.[3]

Unverified The sources don't show the quest rewards, the quest titles or descriptions, or whether the tasks have to be completed in a particular order within a quest, so check these in the in-game quest book.

What changed in Oritech Things between versions?
