Just Dyna Things is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 1.20.3. Mod addon for JustDireThings that add machines and QoL (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Just Dyna Things?

2 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, and this pack includes version 1.20.3 of it. It adds new blocks and quality of life extras on top of the base mod.[1][2][3]

What it adds

  • Anvils that repair gear without spending Experience.[4]
  • Echoing Buddings, a new way to farm budding resources. They need Time Fluid and Energy to grow clusters, and Echoing Budding Time is one of them.[5]
  • New goo tiers, including an Energized Goo that needs Forge Energy to stay alive.[6][7]
  • The Stabilizer, which revives any goo on top of it using Forge Energy.[8]
  • The Paradox Mixer, an unstable block for mass-crafting fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive.[9]
  • Solar panels that generate Forge Energy based on conditions around them.[10]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book covers the mod inside the "Just Dire Things" chapter. That chapter is in the "Tech Mods" group, is chapter 26 of 31 in the book, and has 46 quests.[3]

The quest "Just Dyna Things" quest is listed second in the chapter, right after "Welcome to Just Dire Things!" quest. It introduces the mod as an addon for Just Dire Things and warns that the in-game guide may not fully reflect the values configured for this pack. Keep that in mind when you read default numbers there.[3]

The later goo quests use the mod's goo upgraders. "Creating Blazegold" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T1, "Making Celestigems" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T2, and "Ore of the Eclipse" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T3.[3]

From there the order runs "Ore of the Eclipse" quest, then "Stabilizer" quest, then a quest in "Just Dire Things". The Time Fluid quest a quest in "Just Dire Things" asks for Echoing Budding Time and comes after a quest in "Just Dire Things" and a quest called Altering Time. The rest of the chapter, including 15 quests whose text is not shown here, is told in the quest book itself.[3]

How do you get started with Just Dyna Things?

5 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things that adds new blocks and quality of life items. In this pack, its quest ("Just Dyna Things" quest) sits in the "Just Dire Things" chapter of the "Tech Mods" group, chapter 26 of 31 in the book. That quest also warns that the in-game guide may not fully reflect the values configured for this pack, so trust the recipes and configs below over the guide.[2][3]

Step one: get the base mod going

Nothing here works until you have Just Dire Things goo. Follow "Welcome to Just Dire Things!" quest, then "It All Starts With Goo" quest to make Primogel Goo, then "Goo Transmutations" quest to turn Iron Blocks into Raw Ferricore and smelt it into Ferricore Ingots. Everything after this builds on that.[3]

Step two: Goo Upgrader T1

Your first Just Dyna Things item is the Goo Upgrader T1. The quest "Creating Blazegold" quest asks for it together with Blazebloom Goo and Raw Blazegold. The pack changed this recipe, so don't rely on what you remember from the mod.[3][11]

Step three: Goo Upgrader T2 and T3

The next two upgraders follow the goo tiers. Goo Upgrader T2 is asked for in "Making Celestigems" quest, where you move on to VoidShimmer Goo and Celestigems. Goo Upgrader T3 is asked for in "Ore of the Eclipse" quest, the Eclipse Alloy step. The pack changed both recipes.[3][11]

Step four: Stabilizer

Once you reach Eclipse Alloy, the quest "Stabilizer" quest has you make the Stabilizer. Place it under a goo and it revives that goo with Forge Energy, so you stop feeding the goo items every now and then. The pack changed this recipe too.[3][8][11]

In this pack the Stabilizer uses 1,000 FE per tick (2-blocks.stabilizer_energy_every_tick) and holds 10,000 FE (2-blocks.stabilizer_max_energy_storage). Both match the mod defaults.[12]

Step five: Paradox Mixer

The last step of this opening run is the Paradox Mixer, in the quest a quest in "Just Dire Things", which comes right after the Stabilizer quest. It needs a Stabilizer that has both FE and Time Fluid to stay alive. The Pina Colada chapter uses it in "Paradoxical Mixing" quest.[3][8][9][13]

Tip: The pack raised the Paradox Mixer fluid capacity to 4,000 mB (8-paradox_mixer.paradox_mixer_max_fluid_storage). The mod default is 1,000.[12]

For the Time Fluid, the quest a quest in "Just Dire Things" covers the Time Fluid Bucket and the Echoing Budding Time, which also needs Energy and Time Fluid to run.[3]

How does Just Dyna Things work?

6 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for JustDireThings. Most of its machines run on Forge Energy (FE), fluids, or both, and the pack's server config sets an FE/t or mB/t rate and a storage capacity for almost every one of them. Below is how each system works and which numbers this pack uses.[2][12]

Power generation

The solar panels generate FE based on their surroundings. There are four tiers, and each one has its own conditions. The guide says everything can be changed in the configs, so the values below are the pack's actual config values. They match the mod defaults.[10][12][14]

  • Ferricore Solar Panel makes up to 240 FE/t. The guide lists Overworld, sky access and daytime as its default conditions, and the pack config requires both sky access and daytime. Its capacity is 100,000 FE.[12][15]
  • Blazegold Solar Panel makes up to 960 FE/t. The guide lists the Nether as its default condition. The pack config does not require sky access or daytime, and it applies no Y-level or solar-spam reduction. Its capacity is 100,000 FE.[12][14]
  • Celestigem Solar Panel makes up to 3840 FE/t and must see the sky. Panels placed near each other produce more, and the config has the reduction for panels placed alone switched on. Its capacity is 1,000,000 FE.[12][16]
  • Eclipse Alloy Solar Panel makes up to 11520 FE/t. It needs neither sky access nor daytime. High and low Y-levels raise the multiplier and middle Y-levels lower it, and the config has both the Y-level and the placed-alone reductions switched on. Its capacity is 1,000,000 FE.[12][17]

The Thermo Generator makes FE from a heat source block plus a fluid coolant. The guide gives the formula FE gen = 125 x CoolantEfficiency x HeatEfficiency, and the coolant cost is MB cost = 125 / CoolantEfficiency. A better coolant gives you more power and also costs less fluid. The guide itself says the formula may be simplified in the future. The pack config gives the generator a capacity of 1,000,000 FE.[12][18]

Goo and the Stabilizer

The mod adds goo tiers that work like JustDireThings goo. Energized Goo needs FE to stay alive and is tier 5. The four charged goos are energy versions of the existing goos at tiers 1 to 4: Primogel is 1, Blazebloom is 2, Voidshimmer is 3 and Shadowpulse is 4. The pack config keeps those tiers, and each goo has a counter reducer of 15. The charged goos use 100 FE/t and store up to 10,000 FE by default, and the config can scale both with tier.[7][12][19][20][21][22]

Creative Goo is a goo that cannot die, and any wrench toggles it. Its tier is MAX, which the pack config sets to 2,147,483,647. The pack's own script adds a recipe for it.[12][23][24]

Creative GooAdded by the pack

This recipe is added by the pack's own script.

The Stabilizer revives any goo on top of it using FE. It can play a sound when it revitalizes a goo, which 2-blocks.stabilizer_emit_sound controls. Its pack values are listed below.[8][12]

Time Fluid machines

The Paradox Mixer is an unstable block that mass-crafts fluid drop recipes. It needs at least one energized Stabilizer to stay alive, and a Stabilizer can be energized with Time Fluid. The pack raised the mixer's fluid capacity to 4,000 mB, where the mod default is 1,000.[8][9][12]

The Ticker uses Time Fluid and energy to speed up the block on its highlighted face. In the pack it uses 10 FE/t and 1 mB/t, and it stores 10,000 FE and 1,000 mB. The pack also caps its tick rate at 16, where the mod default is 2,048.[12][25]

Echoing buddings are a way to grow budding resources. The guide says they need Time Fluid (100mb/wk) and Energy (100fe/wk) to grow clusters. The pack config uses 100 FE/t and 100 mB/t, with a 10,000 FE buffer and a 10,000 mB tank. Both costs are applied by chance when a cluster grows. The pack removes the Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium versions.[5][12][26]

The Advanced Time Wand is an upgraded Time Wand with more capacity and click modes: Normal, Speed 2x, Speed 4x and Max Speed. In the pack config those modes use multipliers 1, 2, 4 and 8, and the maximum applied speed is 256. A max multiplier below 256 can disable the other modes. The pack stores up to 10,000,000 FE and 8,000,000 mB, and the pack raised the fluid capacity from the mod default of 800,000.[12][27]

Repair anvils

The More Anvils set repairs items without experience, and each anvil uses a different resource.[4]

  • Ferricore Anvil repairs tools using catalyst items.[28]
  • Blazegold Anvil repairs using high temperature fluids. The pack gives it a 10,000 mB tank and a 10 mB/t rate.[12][29]
  • Celestigem Anvil repairs using FE. The pack gives it 100 FE/t and a 10,000 FE buffer.[12][30]
  • Eclipse Alloy Anvil repairs using FE like the Celestigem Anvil. With a coolant added, it repairs coolant-efficiency / 100 x total-damage. The config sets a damage limit of 1000, the minimum damage at which an item counts as insta-repairable. In the pack it uses 100 FE/t and 100 mB/t, with 10,000 FE and 10,000 mB of storage.[12][31]

Utility blocks

The Reforger converts an input block placed on its red face into an output block, and it spends a catalyst to do it. The pack changed this recipe.[11][32]

The Blackhole is a universal trash can for energy and fluids. You can turn it off to store huge amounts of energy or fluid in a cheap space. In the pack, 2-blocks.blackhole_keep_content is true, so it keeps its contents when redstone disables it. Its capacities are listed below.[12][33]

The Ferricore Clock is a redstone clock that you program with a specific gametick, and you can set each side separately. That lets you disable sides so it doesn't power things you don't want. In the pack it does not need a wrench to change a face state. The Phase Box toggles between solid and non-solid, and it doesn't need a wrench in the pack either. The pack changed the Phase Box recipe.[11][12][34][35]

Wands and automation

The Light Wand places and breaks light blocks and can apply Glowing to the entity you look at. It uses durability. The Advanced Light Wand works the same way but consumes FE on every use. Glowing lasts 200 ticks for the Light Wand and 800 for the Advanced Light Wand, and 20 ticks make 1 second.[12][36][37]

If you plan to automate wands with a fake player, the pack config allows it for the Light Wand and the Advanced Time Wand. The Picker Wand and Swapper Wand are set to false.[12]

How do you progress through Just Dyna Things?

6 parts

Progression for Just Dyna Things hangs off the Just Dire Things questline, in the Tech Mods group of the quest book. Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so you climb the same four Goo tiers and the addon's blocks unlock along the way. The addon's own quest warns that the in-game guide may not fully reflect the values configured for this pack, so trust the quests and the recipes shown here over the guide's defaults.[3]

The Goo ladder

Everything starts with Goo spreading over blocks and converting them. Each tier converts a better block and needs a different item to switch it on. In this pack each step up also asks for a Goo Upgrader from the addon.[3]

  1. Primogel Goo (tier 1): in "Goo Transmutations" quest you activate it with Sugar or Rotten Flesh and put Iron Blocks on its faces to get Raw Ferricore Ore.[3][19]
  2. Blazebloom Goo (tier 2): "Creating Blazegold" quest has you craft Goo Upgrader T1. Feed it Nether Wart or Blaze Powder and it turns Blocks of Gold into Blazegold ore. It still makes Ferricore and converts Iron faster than Primogel.[3][20]
  3. VoidShimmer Goo (tier 3): "Making Celestigems" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T2. Feed it Ender Pearls or Chorus Fruit and it converts Diamond Blocks into Celestigems, plus the earlier resources at a faster rate.[3][21]
  4. Shadowpulse Goo (tier 4): "Ore of the Eclipse" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T3. Feed it Sculk or Sculk Catalysts and it converts Netherite Blocks into Eclipse Alloy Ore, and also the earlier ingot blocks at an increased rate.[3][22]

The pack changed all three Goo Upgrader recipes from the mod's own, so don't rely on the mod's default recipes.[11]

Keeping Goo alive

Once you reach Eclipse Alloy, "Stabilizer" quest unlocks the Stabilizer. Place it under a Goo and it revives that Goo with FE, so you stop feeding it items every now and then. The pack changed this recipe too.[3][8][11]

The mod's guide also lists an Energized Goo at tier 5, which needs Forge Energy to stay alive, and a Creative Goo that cannot die and is marked as the max tier. In this pack the Creative Goo recipe is added by the pack itself.[7][11][23]

Anvils by tier

The mod's guide describes four anvils that repair items without experience, in this order:[4][28][29][30][31]

  • Ferricore Anvil: repairs tools using certain catalysts.[28]
  • BlazeGold Anvil: repairs items using high temperature fluids.[29]
  • Celestigem Anvil: repairs items using Forge Energy (FE).[30]
  • Eclipse Alloy Anvil: repairs with FE, and adding a coolant makes it repair based on the coolant's efficiency.[31]

Time, power and the Paradox Mixer

After "Ore of the Eclipse" quest the quest book opens the addon's late content. "Altering Time" quest covers growing Time Crystals from Budding Time Crystal Blocks, which you move through the Overworld, Nether and End using Swapper machines. a quest in "Just Dire Things" then asks you to make Echoing Budding Time, which needs Energy and Time Fluid to run and mass-produces Time Clusters.[3]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: justdynathings:echoing_budding_time

The Thermo Generator has its own quest in the Power Generation chapter, also after Ore of the Eclipse. It generates energy when placed against a hot block like magma or Primal Coal while you pump in a coolant. Polymorphic Fluid is the easier coolant to start with, and Time Fluid is twice as effective again.[38]

a quest in "Just Dire Things" comes right after the Stabilizer quest. The Paradox Mixer needs a Stabilizer with both power and Time Fluid, and it is used mainly for the Piña Colada. It comes back in the Pina Colada chapter, where "Paradoxical Mixing" quest has you combine the Flashpine and the Temporal Pineapple Juice.[3][13]

Other pack changes

Besides the Goo Upgraders and the Stabilizer, the pack also changed the recipes for the Reforger, Phase Box, Ferricore Clock and Ticker. The Ticker speeds up the block on its highlighted face using Time Fluid and Energy, at a default of 16x.[11][25]

The pack also removes the Echoing Budding variants for Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium: their recipes are removed and they are hidden from recipe viewers.[26]

How does Just Dyna Things work with other mods?

5 parts

Just Dyna Things is an addon for Just Dire Things, so most of its links to other mods run through that one. A few other mods show up in its recipes too, and the pack has its own say in how they fit together.[2][3][11]

Just Dire Things materials

The Light Wand, Picker Wand, Swapper Wand and Thermo Generator all depend on Just Dire Things materials: its Ferricore, Blazegold and Eclipse Alloy metals, with Celestigem showing up in other recipes. The base mod's quests have you earn these by working up through its Goo tiers.[3][11]

Where it sits in the quest book

The intro quest "Just Dyna Things" quest sits inside the Just Dire Things chapter, in the Tech Mods group (chapter 26 of 31 in the book). It calls Just Dyna Things an addon for Just Dire Things.[3]

After that, the Goo tier quests ask for Dyna items alongside the base mod's Goo blocks. "Creating Blazegold" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T1, "Making Celestigems" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T2, and "Ore of the Eclipse" quest asks for Goo Upgrader T3.[3]

"Stabilizer" quest comes after Ore of the Eclipse. The Stabilizer sits under your Goos and revives them with FE, so you don't have to keep feeding them items. a quest in "Just Dire Things" follows it. The Paradox Mixer needs a Stabilizer with both power and Time Fluid, and it is mainly used for the Pina Colada craft.[3]

Echoing Buddings

The Echoing Budding Time and Echoing Budding Entro recipes both use the Just Dire Things Polymorphic Catalyst. The Entro one accepts any item from a tag named for ExtendedAE budding compatibility. Echoing Buddings run on Time Fluid and Energy, and the Time Fluid Bucket quest (a quest in "Just Dire Things") asks for the Time version.[3][5][11]

The in-game guide lists support for Applied Energistics 2, Extended AE, Phasorite Networks and GeOre buddings. This pack removes the Echoing Budding versions for Allthemodium, Unobtainium and Vibranium and hides them from recipe viewers, even though the guide lists them.[5][26]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Just Dyna Things?

3 parts

Just Dyna Things shows up in three quest chapters in this pack. Its main story is in the Just Dire Things chapter (group Tech Mods, chapter 26 of 31). It then comes back in the Pina Colada chapter (group Main Questline, chapter 6 of 31) and in Power Generation (group Resources & Logistics, chapter 10 of 31).[3][13][38]

Just Dire Things chapter

The quest "Just Dyna Things" quest introduces the mod as an addon for Just Dire Things that adds several new blocks and quality of life things. It also warns that the in-game [G] guide may not fully reflect the values configured for this pack, so trust the pack over the guide.[3]

The goo progression is the backbone, and it runs in this order. Each step unlocks the next.[3]

  1. "Welcome to Just Dire Things!" quest, then "It All Starts With Goo" quest and "Goo Transmutations" quest. These are plain Just Dire Things quests that get you your first goo and your first Ferricore.[3]
  2. "Creating Blazegold" quest asks for the second tier goo block, Goo Upgrader T1 and Raw Blazegold.[3]
  3. "Making Celestigems" quest asks for the third tier goo block, Goo Upgrader T2 and a Celestigem.[3]
  4. "Ore of the Eclipse" quest asks for the fourth tier goo block, Goo Upgrader T3 and Raw Eclipse Alloy.[3]

Once you finish Ore of the Eclipse, the quest book opens two more Just Dyna Things quests. "Stabilizer" quest asks for the Stabilizer, which you place under your existing goos to revive them with FE instead of feeding them items every now and then.[3]

After the Stabilizer comes a quest in "Just Dire Things", which asks for the Paradox Mixer. The quest says it needs a Stabilizer with both power (FE) and Time Fluid to combine fluids and items, and that it is mainly used to make the Pina Colada.[3]

The other opening is a quest in "Just Dire Things", which unlocks after both a quest in "Just Dire Things" and "Altering Time" quest. It asks for the Time Fluid Bucket and the Echoing Budding Time block. The quest says this block lets you mass-produce Time Clusters, and that it needs Energy and Time Fluid to run.[3]

Pina Colada chapter

This is the main questline, and the Paradox Mixer is part of it. "Paradoxical Mixing" quest asks for the Paradox Mixer and a Pineapple Juice Bucket. It comes after "Time-Iced Juice" quest and "Artificial Fruits" quest, and its text tells you to combine the Flashpine and the Temporal Pineapple Juice in the mixer.[13]

"Piña Colada" quest comes after Paradoxical Mixing, along with several other quests. The quest calls the drink the ultimate end-goal of the pack, so the Paradox Mixer sits on the way to it.[13]

Power Generation chapter

"Thermo Generator" quest asks for the Thermo Generator and unlocks after Ore of the Eclipse from the Just Dire Things chapter. The quest says it generates energy when placed against a hot block like magma or Primal Coal while you pump in a coolant. Polymorphic Fluid is the easier coolant to start with, and Time Fluid is twice as effective again.[38]

Which Just Dyna Things config options matter?

4 parts

Just Dyna Things is configured through two files in this pack: a server file for how the blocks and wands behave, and a startup file for which compat features load. Most values match the mod defaults, so the handful the pack changed are the ones to know first.[12][39]

Values the pack changed

Solar panels

Each solar panel tier has its own set of conditions. The FE per tick output of every panel matches the mod default: 240 for Ferricore, 960 for Blazegold, 3,840 for Celestigem and 11,520 for Eclipse Alloy.[12]

Wands

The Advanced Time Wand has a max multiplier of 256 (7-wands.advanced_time_wand_max_multiplier). The config notes that setting it below 256 can disable other wand modes, and that the value should be a power of two. The modes are set like this:[12]

Fake players are allowed to use the Light Wands and the Advanced Time Wand. The Picker Wand and Swapper Wand have their fake player options set to false, so automation can't use them.[12]

Startup compat switches

In the startup file, 1-compat.disable_chisel_modern is true, so the Chisel Modern compat is turned off. The options 1-compat.disable_ae2, 1-compat.disable_extendedae, 1-compat.disable_geore and 1-compat.disable_phasoritenetworks are all false, so those compats stay enabled. The file's own note warns that disabling a compat removes its placed blocks and overrides its items with useless ones.[39]
