What is Chisel Reborn?
1 part
Chisel Reborn adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, which makes it a decoration and building mod. This pack ships version 1.4.1, and it has been included since FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.0.3 or earlier.[1][2]
Where it sits in the quest book
Chisel Reborn doesn't get a chapter of its own. You'll meet it in the "Create" chapter, which is in the "Tech Mods" group and is chapter 22 of 31 in the book. That chapter has 100 quests in total.[3]
The quest that uses it is a quest in "Create". It comes after the Mechanical Crafter quest, and one of the items it asks you to bring is Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice.[3]
That quest is about building the FTB Constructor, a multiblock that is mainly used to replace Create's Mechanical Crafters. The Chisel block is just one of the many blocks from different mods that you need for the structure, alongside the hatches it lists.[3]
Much of the "Create" chapter isn't covered here, so check the quest book itself for the other quests around it.[3]
How do you get started with Chisel Reborn?
4 parts
Chisel Reborn adds lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks. Here are the recipes that matter first, in the order I'd tackle them.[1]
Step 1: Learn the stonecutting recipes
Most of the mod's content comes from stonecutting: the recipe dump counts 2,845 stonecutting recipes for this mod, each with a different result. You put a block from one of the mod's carving groups into a stonecutter and get a variant out. A good first one to try is Ancient Stone - Arrayed Bricks, which accepts any block in the Ancient Stone carving group.[4]

Step 2: Make your base blocks
Some families start from a crafted block. Ancient Stone - Raw has its own crafting recipe, and it makes 8 blocks per craft.[4]

Charcoal variants like Charcoal Block - Arrayed Bricks are stonecut from a block of charcoal. The pack changed these charcoal stonecutting recipes, so don't assume the mod's defaults apply here.[4]

Step 3: Upgrade your tools
Once you're comfortable with the blocks, look at the machines and tools. The pack changed the recipe for the Auto Chisel.[4]

Where the quest book comes in
The quest book touches this mod in a quest in "Create". It sits in the Create chapter of the Tech Mods group and comes after "Mechanical Crafter" quest. One of the blocks it asks for is Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice. The quest text says the FTB Constructor is a multiblock build that needs all the blocks used to complete the quest.[3]
The Ice Ice Ice block has a stonecutting recipe, so you can make it from any block in the factory carving group.[4]

How does Chisel Reborn work?
4 parts
Chisel Reborn is mostly about block variants. The project page describes it as adding lots of blocks that are variations of vanilla blocks, and in this pack the clearest way to see how it works is through its recipes. The mod also has an Auto Chisel block, but the sources here do not explain how it works, so I won't guess.[1][5]
Carving through the stonecutter
Most variants are made with stonecutting recipes. The recipe dump counts 2,845 of them, each with a different result. Their inputs are 226 different ingredients, and all of those are Chisel carving groups such as the Amber, Ancient Stone, Andesite, Antiblock and Arcane groups.[4]
For example, any block in the Ancient Stone carving group can be stonecut into Ancient Stone - Arrayed Bricks or Ancient Stone - Braid. In the same way, any block in the Amber carving group can be stonecut into Amber - Amber.[4]
Crafting the base blocks
Some families start from a crafted base block. Crafting Ancient Stone - Raw gives you 8 blocks per craft, and Arcane Stone - Raw does the same. The recipes for Arcane Stone Block - Infernally Arcane, Antiblock Block - White and Blood Rune - Carved Blood Rune also give 8 blocks per craft.[4]

Amber has two routes: a crafting recipe and a stonecutting recipe.[4]
What the pack changes
The pack edits Chisel Reborn in a few places, so don't assume the mod defaults. Its script removes the bubble recipe for every dyed glass color. It also adds the vanilla stained glass of each color to the matching dyed glass carving group, and it adds a Chisel marble pillar block to the marble carving group.[6]
The recipe dump marks the stonecutting recipes for Charcoal Block - Arrayed Bricks, Charcoal Block - Braid and Charcoal Block - Trodden Bricks as changed by the pack. It does the same for the recipe that makes iChisel.[4]

Chisel blocks in other machines
One pack multiblock, the FTB Constructor, uses Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice from Chisel's factory set as its casing block. In the structure layout, some of those casing blocks are allowed to hold hatches: energy input, item input, item output, fluid input and fluid output. Other casing blocks in the same structure do not accept hatches. The rest of the structure is made of blocks from other mods.[7]
How do you progress through Chisel Reborn?
3 parts
The sources for this pack show no tier ladder for Chisel Reborn. The only place the quest book asks you for a Chisel block is the Create chapter, so the quest book ties it to your Create progress.[3]
Where it shows up in the quest book
The Create chapter sits in the Tech Mods group (chapter 22 of 31 in the book). The path to the Chisel quest runs "Welcome to Create!" quest, then "Early-game Rotational Force" quest, "Andesite Casing" quest, "Plates" quest, "The Brass Age" quest and "Mechanical Crafter" quest. After the Mechanical Crafter comes a quest in "Create".[3]
That last quest asks you to hand in Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice along with a list of other blocks. They are the build materials for the FTB Constructor multiblock, which the quest says mainly replaces Create's Mechanical Crafters. On top of those blocks it needs hatches, and you can use a wrench on the placed Constructor to see where each block goes.[3]
You make Ice Ice Ice at the stonecutter from any block in Chisel's factory carving group.[4]

Tools
The pack changed the recipes for two of the Chisel tools, so don't rely on what you remember from the base mod. The Auto Chisel and the iChisel both use pack-modified recipes. The iChisel is made from a Diamond Chisel.[4]

Blocks
Several base blocks are crafted from a common stone plus one extra item, and each craft gives 8 blocks. Examples are Ancient Stone - Raw, Arcane Stone - Raw, Antiblock Block - White and Birdstone - Smooth. Brownstone Block - Raw is the exception and gives 4 per craft.[4]

Most of the variants come from stonecutting, and the sources count 2,845 stonecutting recipes that turn Chisel blocks into other Chisel blocks. The Ancient Stone variants take any block in the ancient stone carving group.[4]

The charcoal variants are different: the pack changed their stonecutting recipes, and they start from a Block of Charcoal. This covers blocks such as Charcoal Block - Braid, Charcoal Block - Arrayed Bricks and Charcoal Block - Cracked.[4]

How does Chisel Reborn work with other mods?
3 parts
Chisel Reborn connects with other mods in this pack in three ways that the sources confirm: a stonecutter recipe that starts from a block of charcoal, a line of upgraded chisels, and one block that a Create quest asks for.[3][4]
Charcoal blocks and the stonecutter
The Chisel Reborn charcoal variants, like Charcoal Block - Arrayed Bricks, Charcoal Block - Braid and Charcoal Block - Pillar, can be made in a stonecutter from a Block of Charcoal. The pack changed these stonecutting recipes, so go by what the recipe viewer shows you in this pack.[4]

Upgraded chisels
Three chisels from the justdynathings namespace are upgrades of Chisel Reborn chisels. The Ferricore Chisel upgrades the Chisel. The Celestigem Chisel upgrades the Diamond Chisel. The Eclipse Alloy Chisel upgrades the iChisel.[4]
Each one has two routes: a crafting recipe and a smithing recipe. Both are shown below. They are the other mod's own recipes, not pack changes. The smithing routes use a template item from Just Dire Things, and the crafting routes use a stick instead.[4]

The Create quest chapter
Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice is one of the blocks you need for the quest a quest in "Create". It sits in the Create chapter, in the Tech Mods group, and comes after the Mechanical Crafter quest. The quest has you build the FTB Constructor, a multiblock mainly used to replace Create's Mechanical Crafters. It needs every block the quest asks for, plus hatches. A wrench on the placed Constructor shows where each block goes.[3]
The Create chapter has 100 quests, and the text of 72 of them is not covered here. The quest book has the rest.[3]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Chisel Reborn?
2 parts
Chisel Reborn only turns up in one quest, and it sits in the Create chapter rather than in a chapter of its own. That chapter is in the "Tech Mods" group and is chapter 22 of 31 in the quest book. The quest is a quest in "Create", and the Chisel block it asks for is Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice.[3]
Where it sits in the Create chapter
a quest in "Create" comes right after "Mechanical Crafter" quest. To reach that point you follow this line of quests: "Welcome to Create!" quest, then "Early-game Rotational Force" quest, then "Andesite Casing" quest, then "Plates" quest, then "The Brass Age" quest, and then the Mechanical Crafter.[3]
What the quest asks for
This is not a quest about Chisel itself. It is a multiblock build for the FTB Constructor (FTB Constructor). The quest text says the Constructor is mainly used to replace Create's Mechanical Crafters, and that it can also be used for Reaction Chamber crafts. Along with the Constructor, the quest asks for a mix of blocks from several mods, and the Factory Block - Ice Ice Ice from Chisel is one of them. The other items it asks for are Pressure Chamber Glass, Improved Machine Core, Quantum Crafting Unit, Ender Flux Crystal, Dynamic Tank, Mechanical Mixer, Basin, Depot, Deployer and Laser.[3]
On top of those blocks, the build needs these hatches:[3]
- 1 Energy Hatch[3]
- 2 Item Input Hatches[3]
- 1 Item Output Hatch[3]
- 4 Fluid Input Hatches[3]
- 1 Fluid Output Hatch[3]
