How do you get started with Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

This add-on lets Refined Storage store Mekanism chemicals. Storage comes in 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. The pack's Refined Storage quest chapter walks you through the Chemical Storage Parts in that order, so you can follow the quests and upgrade as you go.[2][3]

Turn it into storage
A part does nothing by itself. The mod's advancement for storing chemicals tells you to craft a Chemical Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive. Start with the 64B Chemical Storage Disk. The pack changed its main recipe too:[3][4]

Each tier also has its own disk and block recipe, so once you have a part you can turn it into the matching storage whenever you like.[4]
How does Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration work?

This mod adds chemical storage to Refined Storage. It comes as disks and as storage blocks in the 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. There is also a Creative Chemical Storage Block and a Creative Chemical Storage Disk. The sources only describe storage, so there are no machines, multiblocks or fluid and item handling to cover here.[3][4][5]
Disks and blocks
A Chemical Storage Disk goes into your Disk Drive. The mod's own advancement for this is called storing chemicals, and it asks you to craft a disk and put it in a Disk Drive. All the disks share an item tag called Chemical Storage Disks.[3]
The storage blocks are the placed version of the same idea. Their help text says each tier stores a set number of buckets. Disks and blocks are separate items, for example 64B Chemical Storage Disk and 64B Chemical Storage Block.[3][4]
Upgrading and getting parts back
Both disks and blocks can be upgraded to a higher tier by combining them with a Chemical Storage Part. If a disk or block is empty, use it while holding it to get the Chemical Storage Part back. An empty block also returns the Machine Casing.[3]
The Creative Chemical Storage Block and Creative Chemical Storage Disk store an infinite amount of buckets.[3]

Power use
The storage blocks have an energy usage setting for each tier, and in this pack they match the mod defaults. Higher tiers use more: 2 for the 64B block, 4 for the 256B block, 6 for the 1024B block and 8 for the 8192B block. The Creative block uses 16. Each can be set anywhere from 0 up to 9223372036854775807. The sources do not state the unit.[3][5]

Chemical storage in this pack climbs through the 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. Each tier has a Storage Part, a Storage Disk and a Storage Block, and the quest book asks you to build the parts in order from smallest to largest.[2][4]
The quest chain
These quests sit in the refined_storage_2 chapter. Each task is to obtain a Storage Part, and each quest comes after the previous tier's quest. The 64B quest itself comes after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[2]

Turning parts into disks and blocks
Once you have a part, you can turn it into a disk or a block of the same tier. The pack changed the shaped disk and block recipes at every tier. Disks are made around the matching part, and blocks add a Machine Casing to the matching part.[4]
There is also a shortcut for disks. At every tier, a shapeless recipe combines a Storage Housing with the matching part. That one is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack. Here is the 64B version, and the other tiers follow the same pattern.[4]

How does Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration work with other mods?

This mod is the bridge between Refined Storage and Mekanism. It adds chemical storage parts, disks and blocks, and the pack has changed how the parts and blocks are crafted so that they pull in items from both mods.[4]
Storage parts: a Mekanism and Refined Storage upgrade chain
The 256B, 1024B and 8192B parts are each built from the previous part tier. Every step also needs a Mekanism alloy, a Refined Storage processor and an osmium ingot, and the pack changed all three of these recipes. The osmium slot accepts any ingot in the osmium tag.[4]
- 256B Chemical Storage Part uses Infused Alloy and a Basic Processor on top of the 64B part.[4]
- 1024B Chemical Storage Part uses Reinforced Alloy and an Improved Processor on top of the 256B part.[4]
- 8192B Chemical Storage Part uses Atomic Alloy and an Advanced Processor on top of the 1024B part.[4]

There is one option per storage block size, plus one for the creative block. Here is how the pack sets each of them:[5]
