Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.1.1. This optional integration adds support for Mekanism chemicals in various Refined Storage components, allowing storage, transfer, viewing, and autocrafting with chemicals. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

1 part

Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration is part of the pack's mod list, at version 1.1.1. It's a bridge between Refined Storage and Mekanism, so it's most relevant if you're building a Refined Storage network and also working with Mekanism.[1]

The clearest sign of what it adds is its storage parts. The mod provides chemical storage parts in several sizes: 64B Chemical Storage Part, 256B Chemical Storage Part, 1024B Chemical Storage Part and 8192B Chemical Storage Part.[2]

Where it fits in the pack

The mod shows up in the Logistics storage questline. Quest "Storing Gases" quest is completed by obtaining any one of the chemical storage parts above. It unlocks after another quest, so you'll reach it as you work through the storage line.[2]

How do you get started with Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

3 parts

This mod adds chemical storage to Refined Storage. The setup is the same as for ordinary disks: craft a Chemical Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive.[3]

Your first steps

  1. Start with the 64B Chemical Storage Part. It is the lowest tier part, and the 256B part is crafted from it.[4]
  2. Turn that part into a 64B Chemical Storage Disk. You can use the direct disk recipe, or combine the part with a Storage Housing.[4]
  3. Put the finished disk into a Disk Drive. The mod's own advancement for this step is "Craft a Chemical Storage Disk and put it in your Disk Drive."[3]
  4. Upgrade when you run out of room. A disk or block can be upgraded to a higher tier by combining it with a Chemical Storage Part.[3]

The quest "Storing Gases" quest in the storage chapter is completed by having any one of the Chemical Storage Parts: 64B, 256B, 1024B or 8192B. The 64B part is enough to finish it.[2]

Moving up the tiers

The parts go from 64B Chemical Storage Part to 256B Chemical Storage Part, 1024B Chemical Storage Part and 8192B Chemical Storage Part. Each tier has its own part, disk and block. Here is the recipe for the next step up from the 64B part:[4]

Tip: Nothing is lost if you change your mind. An empty Chemical Storage Disk returns its Chemical Storage Part when you use it while holding it. An empty Chemical Storage Block returns the part and the Machine Casing.[3]

How does Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration work?

4 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.9.1 guide

This mod adds chemical storage to Refined Storage. It comes as disks and as storage blocks in the 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. There is also a Creative Chemical Storage Block and a Creative Chemical Storage Disk. The sources only describe storage, so there are no machines, multiblocks or fluid and item handling to cover here.[5][6][7]

Disks and blocks

A Chemical Storage Disk goes into your Disk Drive. The mod's own advancement for this is called storing chemicals, and it asks you to craft a disk and put it in a Disk Drive. All the disks share an item tag called Chemical Storage Disks.[5]

The storage blocks are the placed version of the same idea. Their help text says each tier stores a set number of buckets. Disks and blocks are separate items, for example 64B Chemical Storage Disk and 64B Chemical Storage Block.[5][7]

Upgrading and getting parts back

Both disks and blocks can be upgraded to a higher tier by combining them with a Chemical Storage Part. If a disk or block is empty, use it while holding it to get the Chemical Storage Part back. An empty block also returns the Machine Casing.[5]

Tip: Only empty disks and blocks give their parts back, so empty one out before you try to recycle it.[5]

The Creative Chemical Storage Block and Creative Chemical Storage Disk store an infinite amount of buckets.[5]

Crafting in this pack

The pack changed the recipes for the parts, for the disks made from a part, and for the blocks. The higher tiers each have their own part recipe: 256B Chemical Storage Part, 1024B Chemical Storage Part and 8192B Chemical Storage Part.[7]

The 64B, 256B and 1024B disks also have a shapeless recipe using a Storage Housing. That one is the mod's own and the pack did not change it.[7]

The 256B and 1024B disks work the same way with their own part.

Power use

The storage blocks have an energy usage setting for each tier, and in this pack they match the mod defaults. Higher tiers use more: 2 for the 64B block, 4 for the 256B block, 6 for the 1024B block and 8 for the 8192B block. The Creative block uses 16. Each can be set anywhere from 0 up to 9223372036854775807. The sources do not state the unit.[5][6]

These settings are described as the energy used by each block. The config file lists only the blocks, with no entries for the disks.[5][6]

How do you progress through Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

4 parts

The chemical storage line in this pack climbs through the 64B, 256B, 1024B and 8192B tiers. Each tier comes as a storage part, a disk and a block. The part is the core component, and the disk and block are both crafted from it.[4]

The tiers

Crafting the parts

Parts are where the progression happens. The 64B part is the entry point and has its own standalone recipe. Every higher part is crafted using the part from the tier directly below it, so you can't skip a tier. Here are the in-pack recipes, from lowest to highest.[4]

Turning parts into disks and blocks

Once you have a part, you can make the matching disk in either of these ways: a shaped recipe that uses the part directly, or a shapeless recipe that combines the part with a Refined Storage storage housing. Both give the same disk. Here is the 64B example of the housing route:[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: refinedstorage_mekanism_integration:64b_chemical_storage_disk_from_storage_housing

The block version of each tier is a shaped recipe that uses the matching part together with a Refined Storage machine casing. For example, the top tier block looks like this:[4]

Quest progression

The pack's quest book has a quest for this mod, "Storing Gases" quest, in the logistics storage chapter. It is completed by obtaining any of the chemical storage parts, so the 64B part is enough to finish it. It unlocks after an earlier quest in the same chapter.[2]

Tip: Because the quest accepts any chemical storage part, you don't need to climb the tiers to tick it off. Craft the 64B part and you're done.[2][4]

How does Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration work with other mods?

3 parts

This mod is the bridge between Refined Storage and Mekanism. It adds chemical storage disks and blocks that you build from Refined Storage parts (processors, machine casings, storage housings) together with Mekanism materials. The sizes are 64B, 256B, 1,024B and 8,192B.[4]

Mekanism alloys set the tier

Each step up the storage part ladder pairs a Mekanism alloy with a Refined Storage processor and the previous part. So you climb the Mekanism alloy tiers and the Refined Storage processor tiers at the same time.[4]

Each of those part recipes also takes an osmium ingot, and the recipe accepts any ingot in the osmium ingot tag. Here are the exact in-pack recipes:[4]

Turning parts into disks and blocks

Once you have a part, you make the matching disk by combining it with a Storage Housing from Refined Storage. This is a shapeless recipe, so the arrangement doesn't matter.[4]

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: refinedstorage_mekanism_integration:64b_chemical_storage_disk_from_storage_housing

The storage blocks use a Machine Casing together with the matching part. They also take redstone dust and an osmium ingot, and the recipes accept any item from the redstone dust and osmium ingot tags.[4]

The 256B, 1,024B and 8,192B disks and blocks follow the same pattern with their own parts, so you only need to swap in the right part for the size you want.[4]

Quest tie-in

The quest "Storing Gases" quest in the logistics storage chapter is completed by handing in any one of the chemical storage parts: 64B, 256B, 1,024B or 8,192B. You don't need the biggest part to finish it.[2]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration?

1 part

In the pack's quest book, this mod appears in the logistics storage chapter. The sources here show just a short entry for it, so this section is brief.[2]

The quest is "Storing Gases" quest, and it has no title. It is an item task that accepts any of these chemical storage parts: 64B Chemical Storage Part, 256B Chemical Storage Part, 1024B Chemical Storage Part or 8192B Chemical Storage Part.[2]

Because any of those parts counts, you don't need to build the biggest one. The smallest part is enough to complete the task.[2]

Order

This quest comes after "Virtual Storage Drives" quest in the same chapter, so you finish that quest first. The sources here don't show what that earlier quest asks for.[2]

Which Refined Storage - Mekanism Integration config options matter?

1 part

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.1.1 guide

This mod has a small config file, and everything in it is about how much energy the chemical storage blocks use. The settings live in config/refinedstorage_mekanism_integration-common.toml. You only need one table to remember them, and the pack leaves every value at the mod default.[8]

Chemical storage block energy usage

There is one option per storage block tier, plus one for the creative block. Energy usage goes up with the tier:[8]

Each of these options accepts any value from 0 up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807. That means you can set a block's usage to 0 if you ever want it to stop drawing energy.[8]

Tip: Because the pack hasn't changed any of these values, anything you read about this mod's default energy usage applies here too. If you edit one, you're changing the pack's behavior, not restoring a default.[8]

Unverified The config file doesn't say which energy unit these numbers use or how often the energy is drawn, so check in game before you plan your power setup around them.
