Oritech Things is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 0.0.46. Oritech Things is an open-source tech mod (currently for Minecraft 1.21) with the goal to add additional things for Oritech Mods (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Oritech Things?

3 parts

Oritech Things is an open-source tech mod (currently for Minecraft 1.21) that adds extra things for Oritech. It has a strong dependency on Oritech, so it only makes sense if you're already playing with Oritech. This pack includes version 0.0.46.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Tiered addons from tier 2 to tier 9 in these types: Speed, Efficiency, Efficient Speed (both in one), Processing, Capacitor and Acceptor. Examples are Speed Addon Tier 2 and Speed Addon Tier 9.[1][3]
  • An Exo JetPack that gives you creative flight while using energy or turbo fuel.[1]
  • Particle Accelerator tools: the Advanced Target Designator stores an accelerator's position, and the Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor emits a redstone signal of 15 when the accelerator's speed is greater than the value you set. The sensor accepts speeds up to 999,999 and has an Auto mode that detects the speed the current recipe needs.[1]
  • An Accelerator Magnetic Field block that lets you shrink the particle ring by spending energy, plus an Accelerator Linear Motor that works with Efficiency and Speed addons.[1]
  • Smaller extras: a Frame Placer for building the Destroyer's frame, a Cross Dimensional Drone addon for Drone Ports, and Infested Amethyst Blocks in geodes that spawn Amethyst Fish when broken.[1]

Tiered addon basics

When a tiered addon is attached to a machine or an extender, it emits light at level 15 while it is in use. All of their stats can be edited in the config. The addon tooltip inside the machine is bugged because of Oritech, so don't fully trust what it shows.[1]

Where it fits in the pack

The pack's Oritech quest chapter has four quests that tie this mod to the base Oritech addons: "Machine Acceptor Addon" quest (Acceptor), "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest (Capacitor), "Machine Speed Addon" quest (Speed) and "Machine Efficiency Addon" quest (Efficiency). Each one lists the matching Oritech addon plus the tier 2 to 9 versions from this mod, and all four unlock after the same earlier quest in the chapter.[3]

How do you get started with Oritech Things?

4 parts

Oritech Things builds directly on Oritech, and its main content for you early on is a set of tiered addons. There are four families you can work with here: Speed, Efficiency, Capacitor and Acceptor. Each one runs from tier 2 up to tier 9.[1]

What to do, in order

  1. Get the plain Oritech addon for the family you want. The quest book asks for the base Oritech addon (for example Speed Addon) alongside a tiered Oritech Things version, and the tier 2 recipes use the base addon as an ingredient, so the base addons are your starting point.[3][4]
  2. Make the tier 2 addon first. It has a shaped crafting recipe and an Assembler recipe, both shown below. Tier 2 is the entry point, for example Speed Addon Tier 2 or Capacitor Addon Tier 2.[4]
  3. Climb through tiers 3 to 5 in the Assembler. The pack changed the tier 3 and tier 4 recipes for all four families, and the tier 5 recipes for Speed and Efficiency. The Acceptor and Capacitor tier 5 recipes are the mod's own.[4]
  4. Finish with tiers 6 to 9 in the Atomic Forge. The pack also changed the tier 9 recipe for all four families.[4]

Quests to follow

The oritech chapter has four quests that line up with these families: "Machine Speed Addon" quest for Speed, "Machine Efficiency Addon" quest for Efficiency, "Machine Capacitor Addon" quest for Capacitor and "Machine Acceptor Addon" quest for Acceptor. Each one needs the base Oritech addon plus any tier of the matching Oritech Things addon, so tier 2 is enough to complete them. All four unlock after the same earlier quest.[3]

Tip: Tiered addons emit light at level 15 when they are in use, so a machine with one attached will light up its surroundings.[1]
Watch out: The mod's page says the tier stats can be edited in config. It also says the tooltip in a machine's addons section is bugged because of Oritech, so don't trust that tooltip for the real numbers.[1]

How does Oritech Things work?

6 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, so most of what it adds plugs into machines you already know. The parts worth understanding are the tiered addons, the particle accelerator extras, cross-dimensional drones and the Frame Placer. Here is how each one works.[1]

Tiered addons

The mod adds upgraded versions of the Oritech addons: Speed, Efficiency, Efficient Speed (which combines speed and efficiency in one block), Processing, Capacitor and Acceptor. The project page lists tiers 2 to 9 for each. You attach them to a machine or to an addon extender, and they give off light level 15 while they are in use.[1]

Tier 2 addons such as Speed Addon Tier 2 and Efficiency Addon Tier 2 have a normal crafting recipe, and some also have an Assembler recipe. For the Acceptor and Capacitor addons the upgrade path continues in the Assembler, where each tier uses the previous tier as an ingredient.[4]

This pack changes some of the Assembler upgrade recipes. The Tier 3 and Tier 4 recipes for both the Acceptor and Capacitor addons differ from the mod's defaults. The Tier 5 versions of both are unchanged mod recipes.[4]

Tip: The addon section of a machine's GUI shows a tooltip that the mod's author says is bugged because of Oritech itself. Don't trust its numbers for the tiered addons.[1]

Unverified The project page says addon stats can be edited in config, but the sources here include no config files for this mod. The actual per-tier speed, efficiency and capacity values in this pack are not shown by the sources.

Advanced Target Designator

The Advanced Target Designator stores the position of a Particle Accelerator. You then use it to link the accelerator to the extra blocks below. In this pack its recipe has been changed from the mod's version.[1][4][5]

Advanced Target DesignatorChanged by the pack

Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: oritechthings:advanced_target_designator

The in-game tooltips say to right-click the accelerator to save its position. The project page says shift right-click. If one doesn't work for you, try the other.[1][5]

Particle accelerator add-ons

The accelerator motor works with addons. Its tooltip says to place Speed or Efficiency addons underneath it to boost its performance.[1][5]

The Accelerator Magnetic Field helps particles take tight turns. Once it is linked to an accelerator, the project page says you can shrink the particle ring a lot, at the cost of energy. Efficiency and Capacitor addons are compatible with it.[1][5]

  1. Right-click the particle accelerator with the Advanced Target Designator to save its position.[5]
  2. Place the Magnetic Field block inside the particle accelerator ring.[5]
  3. Right-click the magnetic field to link it to the accelerator.[5]

Watch out: Only one magnetic field is checked per particle accelerator, so extra ones won't help.[5]

Unverified The magnetic field tooltip warns that magnetic fields can be disabled in the server configuration. The sources here include no config files for this mod, so whether they are enabled in this pack is not shown.

Particle Accelerator Speed Sensor

This block watches the particle velocity in an accelerator and outputs a redstone signal based on a speed threshold. You link it the same way as the magnetic field: save the accelerator with the designator, place the sensor wherever you like, then right-click the sensor. That lets you monitor an accelerator remotely.[1][5]

In its GUI you can turn the sensor on or off, choose a limit speed, and pick whether the signal fires when the speed is greater or lesser than that limit. The limit accepts values up to 999,999. When the speed is greater than your value, the sensor emits a redstone signal of 15.[1][5]

  • Manual mode: you set a specific velocity threshold for the redstone output.[5]
  • Automatic mode: the sensor reads the required velocity from the active particle recipes, so you don't have to look it up.[1][5]

Cross-dimensional drones

Attach the Cross Dimensional to a Drone Port and you can set that port's destination in another dimension, using the Advanced Target Designator. Only Drone Ports support cross-dimensional transfers.[1][5]

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: oritechthings:assembler/addon_block_cross_dimensional

This addon is made in the Assembler.

Unverified The tooltip for this addon warns that cross-dimensional addons can be disabled in the server configuration. The sources here include no config files for this mod, so whether they are enabled in this pack is not shown.

Frame Placer

The Frame Placer builds the frame for frame-compatible machines such as the Destroyer. Shift right-click the machine with it and the frame structure is built for you.[1][5]

Watch out: The project page says the Frame Placer destroys all blocks in the area before it places the frame around the perimeter. Clear out or move anything you want to keep first.[1]

How do you progress through Oritech Things?

5 parts

Oritech Things stacks extra tiers on top of Oritech's machine addons. The four addon lines that matter most are Acceptor, Capacitor, Efficiency and Speed, and each one runs from Tier 2 up to Tier 9. Processing also gets tiers, and the recipes shown here for it go up to Tier 5.[3][4]

What the quests ask for

The pack has four Oritech quests, one per addon line. Each asks you to hand in the matching base Oritech addon and one Oritech Things addon of that line. Any tier from 2 to 9 counts, so you can finish them early with a Tier 2 block. All four unlock after the same earlier quest.[3]

Tier 2: craft it by hand or in the Assembler

Tier 2 is the entry point. You can craft it at a crafting table, and there is also an Assembler version of the recipe. Both are the mod's own recipes, not pack changes. Here is the Acceptor line as an example.[4]

Tiers 3 to 5: Assembler, with pack changes

From Tier 3 to Tier 5 you move to the Assembler, and each step upgrades the previous tier of the same line. The pack changed the Tier 3 and Tier 4 recipes for the Acceptor, Capacitor, Efficiency, Speed and Processing lines. It also changed Tier 5 for Efficiency, Speed and Processing. The Tier 5 Acceptor and Capacitor recipes are unchanged mod recipes.[4]

Tiers 6 to 9: Atomic Forge

Tiers 6, 7 and 8 are made in the Atomic Forge, again by upgrading the previous tier of the same line, and these are the mod's own recipes. Tier 9 is the highest tier the quests list. The pack changed the Tier 9 recipe for the Acceptor, Capacitor, Efficiency and Speed lines.[3][4]

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Speed Tier 6 is an unchanged mod recipe.

Tip: Check the recipe block for each tier before you start. The pack changed many of the Tier 3, 4, 5 and 9 recipes, so the in-pack recipe may differ from what you remember of the mod.[4]

Combined and extra addons

How does Oritech Things work with other mods?

3 parts

Oritech Things is an add-on for Oritech, so almost everything it adds is crafted from Oritech parts. In this pack, a few recipes also pull in items from the pack's own material set. Here is where those links show up.[1][4]

Tiered addons build on Oritech's addons

Speed, Efficiency, Processing, Capacitor and Acceptor addons all run from tier 2 to tier 9. Tier 2 is made from the matching Oritech addon plus the Machine Addon Extender, either in a crafting grid or in the Oritech Assembler. Every tier after that takes the previous Oritech Things tier as an ingredient, along with the matching Oritech addon.[1][4]

The Assembler also handles tiers 3 to 5, with Oritech parts such as the Motor and the Flux Gate added along the way. From tier 6 up, the Oritech Atomic Forge takes over, using the Advanced Computing Engine, the Heisenberg Compensator and Prometheum as the tiers climb.[4]

Acceptor Addon Tier 3Changed by the pack

Assembler (oritech)

Recipe id: oritechthings:assembler/addon_block_acceptor_tier_3

Tier 3 Assembler recipe for the Acceptor line, changed by the pack.

The pack changed a lot of these recipes. In the Assembler, tiers 3 and 4 differ from the mod's own recipes for every addon line. Tier 5 is also changed for Efficiency, Processing and Speed, while Acceptor and Capacitor tier 5 are the mod's own. Tier 9 in the Atomic Forge is changed for every line, including Efficient Speed, and all of them now use the Bio-Neural Circuit.[4]

Acceptor Addon Tier 9Changed by the pack

Atomic Forge (oritech)

Recipe id: oritechthings:atomicforge/addon_block_acceptor_tier_9

Tier 9 is changed by the pack and uses the Bio-Neural Circuit.

Tip: Efficient Speed Addons come in tiers 3 to 9. They are made in the Atomic Forge by combining the Efficiency and Speed addons of the same tier, so build both lines up together first.[1][4]

Quests tie the two mods together

The "oritech" quest chapter has four quests that connect the mods directly. Each asks for an Oritech base addon plus any tier of the matching Oritech Things addon. They cover Acceptor ("Machine Acceptor Addon" quest), Capacitor ("Machine Capacitor Addon" quest), Speed ("Machine Speed Addon" quest) and Efficiency ("Machine Efficiency Addon" quest). Any tier from 2 to 9 counts for the second task.[3]

Other cross-mod items

The pack changed the recipe for the Advanced Target Designator. It now combines Oritech's Target Designator with Silicon, and it is crafted without a fixed layout. The mod uses it to store the position of a Particle Accelerator, and it also sets the destination for Cross Dimensional drone ports.[1][4]

Which FTB Skies 2 quests use Oritech Things?

2 parts

Oritech Things shows up in one quest chapter in this pack: the "oritech" chapter. It holds four quests, and they all revolve around machine addons. None of them has a title, so below they're identified by their quest refs.[3]

What the quests ask for

All four quests follow the same pattern. Each has two item tasks. The first is the regular Oritech addon of one type. The second accepts an Oritech Things addon block of that same type, in any tier from 2 to 9.[3]

Order

All four quests unlock after the same earlier quest in the chapter. That means they sit side by side, not in a chain. You can take them in any order once that prerequisite is done.[3]

Tip: Each quest accepts any one tier from 2 to 9, so you don't need to craft the highest tier to tick it off. Which tier you can make depends on the recipes in this pack.[3]

What changed in Oritech Things between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Oritech Things 0.0.46. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-time resident.[2]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for this mod were available, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs.

Mod changelog highlights

  • 0.0.46 (the version in this pack): fixed the Ukrainian translations and removed a useless recipe that pointed to a non-existent item.[2][6]
  • 0.0.45: added Ukrainian translation credits to Tenwoc.[7]
  • 0.0.44: fixed a bug that happened when Mekanism cables were connected to tiered addons.[8]
  • 0.0.43: a compatibility fix for 1.2.x.[9]
  • 0.0.41: fixed acceptor addons so they accept energy.[10]
  • 0.0.22: fixed an incompatibility between the ExoJetPack and other mods that grant you flight.[11]

The mod's changelogs for the releases above are mostly small bug fixes and translation work, and the 0.0.46 changelog lists nothing else.[6][7][8][9][10][11]
