Macaw's Furniture is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 3.4.1. Decorate your world with wardrobes, drawers, chairs, desks, couches, chaise, sinks, tables and more...! (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Macaw's Furniture?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Macaw's Furniture is a decoration mod: it adds wardrobes, drawers, chairs, desks, couches, chaise, sinks, tables and more, so your bases and houses can feel properly lived in.[1]

The mod is all about different furniture styles and customization. You can place pieces on top of each other to build different combinations, and merge them to make them wider or taller as much as you want.[1]

Furniture is not just for looks either. You can store your items in various types of furniture, or sit down on a chair and relax.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Macaw's Furniture 3.4.2, and the mod has been part of the pack since version 0.0.1 or earlier.[2]

Unverified Where this pack's quest book places the mod (its chapter, group, and what comes before and after it) and whether the ATM Star path uses it are not shown by the sources here. That detail lives in the pack's quest book, so check there if you want to know.

How do you get started with Macaw's Furniture?

4 parts

Macaw's Furniture is a decoration mod: wardrobes, drawers, chairs, desks, couches, chaises, sinks, tables and more. You can stack pieces on top of each other and merge them to make them wider or taller, and a lot of them store items. Here is the order I'd go in, so you don't get stuck on a crafting step.[1]

Step 1: Make the cabinet parts

Before the storage furniture, make Cabinet Door and Cabinet Drawer. Wardrobes, kitchen cabinets and the drawer family all need one of them first. The pack changed both recipes from the mod's defaults, so don't rely on what you remember from other packs. Check the in-pack recipes here.[3]

Step 2: Start with simple wood furniture

Chairs, desks and coffee tables only need wood parts, so you can make them right away. The examples here use acacia. The birch recipes in the recipe list follow the same pattern. Tables build on each other: Acacia Table needs an Acacia Coffee Table, and Acacia End Table and Acacia Glass Table come after that.[3]

Step 3: Add storage

Once you have the cabinet parts, Acacia Drawer and Acacia Wardrobe each make 4 pieces per craft. Those pieces lead to the counters: Acacia Drawer Counter is made from a drawer, and Acacia Cupboard Counter from a wardrobe.[3]

Step 4: Bookshelves, sinks and couches

Acacia Bookshelf makes 4 per craft and doesn't need any cabinet parts. The cupboard and drawer bookshelf variants do need them. The kitchen sink has its own recipe, and the chaises (for example Black Chaise) make 4 per craft from wool in their colour plus wood.[3]

How does Macaw's Furniture work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

Macaw's Furniture is a decoration mod, so this section looks different from a tech-mod one. The mod's own description is about furniture styles and customization. The sources here don't describe machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation, so none of that is covered.[1]

Placing and combining furniture

The mod's main idea is mixing and matching. You can place pieces on top of each other to build different combinations. You can also merge pieces to make them wider or taller, as much as you want.[1]

Some furniture stores your stuff, and other pieces, like chairs, are there so you can sit down and relax.[1]

How crafting chains work in this pack

The pack uses shaped crafting recipes for the furniture. Many pieces rely on the shared parts Cabinet Door and Cabinet Drawer. The door family includes Acacia Double Wardrobe and Acacia Kitchen Cabinet. The drawer family includes Acacia Drawer and Acacia Bookshelf Drawer. One door-family recipe is shown below.[4]

Some pieces are upgrades of other furniture, so you craft the base piece first. The Acacia Drawer Counter is an example, because it is made from the Acacia Drawer.[4]

The Acacia Glass Table works the same way. It sits at the end of a chain that starts with the Acacia Table and runs through the Acacia End Table. The last two steps are shown here.[4]

Tip: The recipes shown here are the Acacia versions. The recipe list available here is cut off, so check the other wood types in the recipe viewer instead of assuming they match.[4]

Unverified Whether this mod has any config options in the pack is not shown by the sources here. No config files for it are available, so check the pack's config folder in game if you need to be sure.

How do you progress through Macaw's Furniture?

4 parts

For Macaw's Furniture, progression in this pack is a crafting chain. You make base pieces from wood, then build bigger pieces out of earlier ones. Everything below is read from the in-pack recipes.[3]

Base pieces

The simplest pieces come straight from one wood type's materials, with no other furniture involved. That covers seating such as the Acacia Chair, Acacia Modern Chair, Acacia Striped Chair and Acacia Stool, plus the Acacia Coffee Table and Acacia Counter. Birch and cherry have the same kinds of recipes, for example the Birch Chair and the Cherry Chair.[3]

A few more base pieces to know are the Acacia Desk, Acacia Modern Desk, Acacia Covered Desk and Acacia Bookshelf. The exact in-pack recipes for the desk, covered desk and bookshelf are shown in the blocks below.[3]

Cabinet hardware

This is the pack-specific part. The wardrobes, kitchen cabinets and drawers are all built from either the Cabinet Door or the Cabinet Drawer. The pack changed both of those recipes from the mod's own, so don't rely on the mod's default recipes for them. Check the in-pack ones below.[3]

Pieces built from other furniture

The top of the chain starts from finished furniture. Counters are the clearest case: the Acacia Cupboard Counter sits one step above the Acacia Wardrobe, the Acacia Drawer Counter above the Acacia Drawer, and the Acacia Double Drawer Counter above the Acacia Double Drawer.[3]

Tip: Make cabinet doors and cabinet drawers in bulk before you start on a room. The storage pieces and their counter upgrades all depend on one of them.[3]

How big is the recipe list?

The recipe dump counts 416 shaped crafting recipes that take this mod's items and vanilla items and make this mod's items, all with different results. It also counts 236 shaped recipes that take only vanilla ingredients, which are the entry points into the chain.[3]

What changed in Macaw's Furniture between versions?

4 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships Macaw's Furniture 3.4.1, and the mod has been in the pack since 1.0.1 or earlier. I don't have any pack changelog entries for this mod, so everything below comes from the mod's own changelogs for the two versions that matter to your pack.[5]

3.4.0: the big update

As of the 3.4.0 changelog, this release added new furniture and reworked a lot of the existing pieces.[6]

  • As of 3.4.0, Couches are added, in 16 colors.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, Chaise Couch Blocks are added, also in 16 colors.[6]
  • Kitchen Sinks were added. You can fill and unfill them with buckets, and use them to fill bottles.[6]

3.4.0: changes

  • As of 3.4.0, Desks have just two directional facings, since the model is the same for north and south and for east and west. They also got a slightly changed model.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, Cabinets and Drawers have open and close sounds.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, Furniture has unique handle colors based on the wood type.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, furniture containers are titled "Furniture Inventory" instead of the block's name. Renaming the block in an anvil changes the inventory text.[6]
  • Because of issues with Combined Furniture, the 3.4.0 changelog says the old non-leg models were brought back.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, Counters have ambient occlusion set to true.[6]
  • As of 3.4.0, a c:chests/wooden tag is used for cabinet drawers and doors instead of vanilla chests.[6]
Watch out: The 3.4.0 changelog says desks placed in an older version need a block update to adjust to the new facing system, and that they will look weird currently, meaning until that update happens. The fix it gives is to place any block against the desk, like dirt, and then remove it.[6]

3.4.0: bug fixes

  • The Farmer's Delight cutting board can now be placed on the middle segment of a desk.[6]
  • The 3.4.0 changelog lists fixes for item frames and lamps glitching on some furniture.[6]
  • The 3.4.0 changelog lists several Counter fixes: a brighter texture than other furniture, black side textures next to solid blocks, and graphics issues with shaders.[6]
  • The 3.4.0 changelog lists a fix for furniture containers not accepting items from Immersive Engineering's conveyor belts.[6]
  • The 3.4.0 changelog lists a fix for a crash on furniture block placement.[6]
  • The 3.4.0 changelog lists several rendering fixes, including drawers placed behind drawers changing into other parts, missing block faces under some furniture, wrong lighting on the western edge of multi-block tables, and a wrong texture under the Coffee Table middle part.[6]
  • Handles can now be seen on Stripped Birch furniture, and long furniture text no longer goes out of the border when opened.[6]

3.4.1: the version you have

This is a small bug fix release. It fixes the bad shading on drawers, especially stripped ones, and the glitchy texture on desk middle parts. It also fixes Kitchen Sinks returning just one empty bucket when filled, even if you were holding more than one. It also updated the ru_ru, fr_fr and es_cl translations.[7]
