What is Rosia?
2 parts
Rosia is a TerraFirmaCraft addon that pushes your TFC world forward into machinery and electricity. This pack includes version 0.0.17-1.18.2. If you've already got a handle on TFC's metalworking and want a next step, this is the mod for you.[1][2][3]
What it adds
- A power chain: Invar (an alloy of iron and nickel), plus magnets, copper wire, copper coils, motors and machine frames. Invar's main use is in machine frames.[4][5]
- Power generation and storage: the Steam Generator sits above a heat source and turns water into electricity, and the Nickel-Iron Battery stores up to 4,000 FE.[6][7]
- Heat sources: the Fire Box burns fuel (including logs) with built-in ignition and no chimney. It can't heat items by itself, but it pairs well with a Crucible or Steam Generator.[8]
- Machines: the Auto-Quern, Extruding Machine, Rolling Machine and Electric Loom automate grinding, rods and wires, sheets, and cloth.[9]
- The Electric Forge, which heats items 66% faster and needs no chimney, plus Industrial Kitchen gear such as the Electric Grill, Canning Press and Fridge.[10][11]
- Extras: a Charcoal Kiln, Tool Belt, Leather Satchel, Stone Paths, Iron Supports, Water Pump, Electric Lantern and the Purple Steel Rifle.[12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]
Where it fits in your progression
Rosia is a late-game layer on top of TFC. Purple Steel, made from Blue Steel and Red Steel, is its top-tier metal. Its sheets, rods and wires can only be made with machines, and everything else is done on a Tier VI Anvil.[20]
Purple Steel is also why some of the best Rosia gear is hard to get. The Electric Forge uses a large amount of it, and the Fridge requires it.[10][11][20]
Unverified The sources I was given don't show any quests or ATM Star path involvement for Rosia, so I can't say where it fits in the pack's quest progression.
How do you get started with Rosia?
4 parts
Rosia is a TerraFirmaCraft addon, and its big goal is getting you to electricity. The early game here is a chain: make the parts, build a Machine Frame, then power everything. Here's the order I'd go in.[2][4]
Step one: better fuel and some breathing room
The Charcoal Kiln is a multi-block that turns logs into charcoal. It gives a 90% yield and takes only 75% of the normal time, and the default time is 13.5 hours. You build it from the kiln block plus five brick blocks with a hollow center, then light it with a firestarter once the logs are inside. Don't break the structure while it's lit, or you lose the logs.[12]

If your inventory is already crowded, two leather items help. The Leather Satchel is like a Small Vessel with one extra slot, but it can't melt ores and it doesn't preserve food as well. The Tool Belt holds up to five tools. The pack changed the Tool Belt recipe, so go by the recipe block below. Both start from leather you knap into parts.[13][14][21]

Step two: Invar and the electrical parts
Invar Ingot is an alloy of iron and nickel: 60 to 70% iron and 30 to 40% nickel. It can be cast into ingots, welded into double ingots and worked into sheets. Make it early, because the Machine Frame is the main use for Invar and Machine Frames are at the core of crafting for every device.[4][5][21]

Your first Copper Wire comes from working copper on an anvil. Wire is wound into Copper Coil, and Copper Coils are used in every electronic device.[4]
The Magnet starts from magnetite ore, which grinds into Magnetite Powder. The powder becomes Compressed Magnetite with the recipe below, and heating that to Yellow gives you the Magnet.[4]

Electric Motor units are made with Magnets and Copper Coils, and they are what drive all machines. The pack changed the Motor recipe, so use this one rather than the mod default.[4][21]

Step three: build your power setup
The Steam Generator is the heart of your electrical network. Put it above a heat source and it consumes water to produce electricity. A Fire Box works well as that heat source. It needs no chimney, has built-in ignition, and can burn logs. A Bellows next to it raises its maximum temperature. A hotter setup means the generator uses water and makes power faster. The pack changed the Steam Generator recipe.[6][8][21]

Add a Nickel-Iron Battery to store the power. It holds a maximum of 4,000 FE, and the generator needs enough storage to use your fuel's whole burn time. The pack changed this recipe too.[6][7][21]

Next: automate your crafting
With power running, the machines come next. The Auto-Quern grinds items into powders and dyes. The Rolling Machine forms metal sheets and the Extruding Machine forms rods and wires, and both need metal that is hot enough to work. Each machine also needs a steel tool made on the anvil.[9]

How does Rosia work?
7 parts
Rosia is a TerraFirmaCraft addon that sends you on a quest for electricity. You make heat, turn it into electricity with a Steam Generator, store it as FE in a battery, and spend it on machines. Here is how each of those pieces works.[2][4][6][7]
Machine building blocks
Every machine starts with the same parts. Copper Wire is made by working copper in an anvil, and Copper Wire is wound into Copper Coil. Those coils are used in every electronic device, and combined with Magnets they make the Motor, which is what drives all machines.[4]
The Machine Frame is at the core of crafting for every device, and it is the main use for Invar. Invar is an alloy of iron and nickel: 60 to 70 % iron and 30 to 40 % nickel. It can be cast into ingots, welded into double ingots, and worked into sheets.[4][5]

Generating and storing power
The Steam Generator is the heart of your electrical network. Place it above a heat source and it consumes water to produce electricity. You can feed water in with buckets through the input slot, or pipe it in from another source. The hotter the heat source, the faster it uses water and the faster it makes power.[6]
The Fire Box is a heat source built for this job. It is similar to the Charcoal Forge, but it has a 10% bonus on burn time and can burn logs, which leave wood ash as a byproduct. It has built-in ignition and needs no chimney. A Bellows placed next to it raises the maximum temperature it can reach. The Fire Box cannot heat items on its own, so combine it with a Crucible or a Steam Generator.[8]

Recipe id: rosia:crafting/blocks/fire_box
The Nickel-Iron Battery is the main way to store FE, with a maximum capacity of 4,000 FE. It has a fixed output on its top face, and all other sides are inputs. Press the Auto button to toggle automatic power output. The Steam Generator has the same Auto button.[6][7]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
The Steam Generator's thermometer behaves differently from the ones on other heat sources: it shows the temperature up to the generator's highest functioning value.[6]
Moving water and making light
The Water Pump moves water using electricity, at 30mB per tick. It must be submerged in water.[17]
The Electric Lantern is a powered light source that consumes 1 FE/Second. It can be powered from either the top or the bottom.[18]
Metalworking machines
Several machines automate jobs you would otherwise do by hand. Each one has its own tool or component that is used within it, and that part is made on the anvil.[9]
- Auto-Quern: automatically grinds items into powders and dyes. It uses the Steel Grindstone.[9]
- Extruding Machine: automatically forms metal rods and wires, but needs metal that is hot enough to work. It uses the Steel Machine Die.[9]
- Rolling Machine: automatically forms metal sheets, and also needs metal that is hot enough to work. It uses the Steel Rollers.[9]
- Electric Loom: automatically weaves different kinds of string into cloth, and is also used to make paper. It uses the Steel Loom Parts.[9]
These machines matter most for Purple Steel. It is too sturdy to work by hand, so its sheets, rods and wires can only be made by machines. All its other processes are done on a Tier VI Anvil.[20]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's default.
Electric Forge
The Electric Forge heats and melts items in a controlled environment, and items heat 66% faster in it. It needs no chimney, and a Bellows has no effect on its temperature. It has five slots for heating items and one slot for molds or vessels, and it also heats Crucibles placed above it.[10]
Click the temperature bar at the bottom of the interface to set a target temperature. The higher you set it, the more power it consumes. The forge uses a large amount of Purple Steel, so it is hard to obtain.[10]

Kitchen machines
- Canning Press: seals canned food items. Unsealed cans will expire within a few days.[11]
- Electric Grill: has 10 slots and is an upgrade to cooking over a Firepit. The power draw is the same whether it cooks one item or ten, so cook in bulk.[11]
- Fridge: long-term food storage with 9 slots. It cannot hold canned food or other inventories such as small vessels. It only consumes power when an item is inside, and it requires Purple Steel.[11]
Charcoal Kiln (multiblock)
The Charcoal Kiln is the one multiblock covered here. It makes charcoal with a 90% yield in 75% of the normal time. The default time is 13.5 hours.[12]
You build it from the kiln block and five brick blocks, and the center must be hollow. The kiln is only interactable once the structure is complete. Once logs are inside, light it with a firestarter.[12]

How do you progress through Rosia?
5 parts
Unverified The pack's quest book is where a quest-guided order would be told, and the sources here show no quests for Rosia, so there is no quest order to follow. The stages below come from the in-pack recipes and the in-game guide entries instead. This site does hold All the Mods - Gravitas's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
Rosia is a TerraFirmaCraft addon, and its progression is a ladder of materials: iron and nickel give you Invar, Invar and copper give you components, components give you machines and power, and Purple Steel sits at the very top.[2][4][5][20]
Early utility, no power needed
Some of Rosia's items need no electricity at all. The Charcoal Kiln is a multi-block structure that gives a 90% charcoal yield in 75% of the normal time, and the default time is 13.5 hours. The Fire Box burns fuel with a bonus 10% burn time, has built-in ignition and needs no chimney. It can't heat items on its own, but it works well under a Crucible or Steam Generator.[8][12]

Quality-of-life gear also lives here. The Leather Satchel is like a small vessel with one extra slot, but it can't melt ores. The Tool Belt holds up to five tools. Iron Support blocks are stronger than wood supports. The 20 stone paths, such as Granite Path, give a small movement buff.[13][14][15][16][21]

Invar and electric components
Everything electric starts with Invar, an alloy of 60 to 70% iron and 30 to 40% nickel. You can cast it into ingots, weld it into double ingots and work it into sheets. The pack changed several Invar ingot and rod recipes, including the Immersive Engineering ones, so check the recipe viewer instead of trusting default-mod knowledge.[5][21]
Your first Copper Wire comes from working copper at an anvil. Wire and the Copper Coil made from it go into every electronic device. A Magnet starts from magnetite ore ground into Magnetite Powder, then Compressed Magnetite. The Motor, made with magnets and coils, is what drives all machines.[4]

- Electric Lantern: a powered light that consumes 1 FE/Second.[18]
Machines
With power running, the machines automate TFC's manual work. Each uses a steel tool made on the anvil.[9]
- Auto-Quern grinds items into powders and dyes, using the Steel Grindstone.[9]
- Extruding Machine forms metal rods and wires, using the Steel Machine Die. The metal must be hot enough to work.[9]
- Rolling Machine forms metal sheets, using the Steel Rollers. The metal must be hot enough to work.[9]
- Electric Loom weaves string into cloth and is also used for paper. It uses Steel Loom Parts, and the pack changed its recipe.[9][21]
- Canning Press seals cans made with a Tin Can. Unsealed cans expire within a few days, and canned food loses some nutrition.[11]
- Electric Grill has 10 slots and the same power draw for one item or ten, so bulk cooking is the way to go.[11]
Purple Steel
Purple Steel is the ultimate metal. First alloy 50% Blue Steel with 50% Red Steel to make Weak Purple Steel. Then combine that with Graphite Powder and Charcoal in the Blast Furnace. It's too tough to hand-work, so sheets, rods and wires only come from machines, and everything else needs a Tier VI Anvil.[20]
The payoff is worth it. The Electric Forge heats items 66% faster and needs no chimney, but it uses a large amount of Purple Steel. The Fridge holds 9 items and only draws power when something is inside.[10][11]

How does Rosia work with other mods?
5 parts
Rosia is a TerraFirmaCraft addon, so almost all of its connections run through TFC items. The rest are a couple of vanilla parts and a Thermal press recipe that the pack changed for Invar. Here is how it all hooks together.[2][3][21]
Building machines from TFC parts
Every Rosia machine starts with the Machine Frame. Its recipe mixes Rosia's own Copper Coil and Invar Sheet with a TFC wrought iron sheet. The in-game guide calls Machine Frames the core of crafting for every device and the main use for Invar.[4][21]

TFC anvil and quern tie-ins
The working parts inside your machines are made on the TFC anvil from TFC steel. The Steel Grindstone, Steel Rollers and Steel Machine Die each come from a steel double ingot, and the Steel Loom Parts come from a steel sheet.[9][21]
Magnetite works with both grinders. TFC's own quern can grind poor, normal, rich and small magnetite into Magnetite Powder, and the Auto-Quern has matching recipes for the same ores. The guide says the powder goes on to become Magnets for your motors.[4][21]
Metals, molds and the blast furnace
Rosia's alloys are cast in TFC's ceramic molds. Both the Ingot Mold and the Fire Ingot Mold can cast Invar Ingot, Purple Steel Ingot and Weak Purple Steel Ingot. Invar is an iron and nickel alloy, with 60 to 70 percent iron and 30 to 40 percent nickel.[5][21]
Purple Steel uses the TFC blast furnace. A recipe there turns Graphite Powder into Purple Steel, and the guide says you combine Weak Purple Steel, Graphite Powder and Charcoal.[20][21]
Thermal and Invar
Thermal's press has Invar recipes that the pack changed. Both give you a Rosia Invar Ingot. One uses the Packing Die (3x3) with Invar nuggets, and the other uses the Unpacking Die with Invar storage blocks.[21]

Heat, food and building blocks
The Fire Box mixes TFC and vanilla parts, including the Crucible, Fire Bricks and Flint And Steel. The exact recipe is shown below. The guide says it cannot heat items on its own, but it is unmatched when combined with a Crucible or a Steam Generator.[8][21]
