Tool Belt in All the Mods 10

Tool Belt adds the Tool Belt, a quick way to switch between tools. The pack includes Tool Belt version 2.2.10, and it has been part of the pack since version 0.32 or earlier.^[1][2]

You can upgrade the belt to hold more by combining it with belt pouches in an anvil, which increases its capacity.^[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

The pack's quest book covers the mod in "Tool Belt" quest, which is in the "Tips and Tricks" chapter. That is chapter 4 of 66 in the book, and it has 22 quests. The chapter is a collection of useful items and mods to help you on your journey.^[2]

In the chapter's quest list, the Tool Belt quest appears between "Iron Jetpacks" quest and "Simple Magnets" quest. Neighbours like these are standalone tips about handy gear, so you don't need to finish one to reach the next.^[2]

The quest sources don't mark Tool Belt as part of the ATM Star path. Three of the chapter's 22 quests aren't covered here, so check the quest book itself for those.^[2]

The Belt Pouch is how you grow your belt. You upgrade the belt by combining it with pouches in an anvil, which increases its capacity. The pack changed this recipe too.^[3][4]

Upgrade the belt

1. Craft a belt and as many pouches as you want to add.^[3][4]
2. Take them to an anvil and apply the pouches to the belt to increase its capacity.^[3]
3. Check the belt's tooltip. It shows how many upgrades it has and how many slots that gives you.^[5]

Tool Belt is a small mod, and the sources for this pack only explain a few of its systems. What they do show is the mod's items, its keybindings for swapping tools, and the config that decides what can go in the belt.^[5][6]

The mod adds the Tool Belt and the Belt Pouch. The mod's tooltip text reads "Upgrades: %s (%s slots)", so it lists upgrades and a slot count.^[5]

Controls

The mod adds its own keybinding category called "Tool Belt" in the controls menu. These are the bindings in it:^[5]

• Open Belt Slot Inventory^[5]

The sources only give these names, not the default keys, so check your controls menu to see what they are set to.^[5]

What can go in the belt

Which items the belt accepts is controlled in general.allowAllNonStackableItems, general.blacklist and general.whitelist. This is how the pack has them set:^[6]

• general.allowAllNonStackableItems is true. The config comment says that setting it to false means stackable items are no longer allowed by default.^[6]
• general.blacklist contains only Bundle, so bundles are disallowed in the belt unless the whitelist overrides it.^[6]
• general.whitelist is empty. Anything you put there is force-allowed, and the whitelist takes precedence over the blacklist.^[6]

The Tool Belt only shows up in one place in the quest book: the "Tips and Tricks" chapter. There's a single quest for it, so there's no long questline to follow here.^[3]

• The quest text describes the belt as a quick way to switch between tools, and says you can upgrade it with belt pouches in an anvil to increase its capacity.^[3]

Because it's the only quest for this mod, there's no order to worry about. Grab the belt whenever you want to make swapping tools easier.^[3]

Unverified The sources don't say whether this quest gives a reward, or where it sits relative to other quests in the Tips and Tricks chapter.

Tool Belt's settings all live in config/toolbelt-server.toml, and together they decide which items you can put in the belt. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.^[6]

What this pack sets

• general.allowAllNonStackableItems is set to true. The file's own comment says that when it is false, stackable items are no longer allowed by default.^[6]
• general.blacklist contains Bundle. Items on this list are disallowed from being placed in the belt.^[6]
• general.whitelist is empty. It force-allows items in the belt and takes precedence over the blacklist.^[6]

In practice, that means the pack keeps bundles out of the belt and adds no extra force-allowed items.^[6]

Tool Belt is an old hand in the pack. It was already included in All the Mods 10 0.32 or earlier, and All the Mods 10 8.2 ships version 2.2.10.^[1]

The pack changelogs only record version bumps for this mod. Here are the updates they show:^[8][9][10]

• All the Mods 10 4.15: updated from 2.2.6 to 2.2.7.^[10]
• All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 2.2.7 to 2.2.9.^[9]

Version 2.2.10, the one 7.1 moved to, is also the version in All the Mods 10 8.2.^[1][8]

Unverified What changed inside Tool Belt in each of these versions is not shown here. The changelogs for the shipped jars are not stored in the sources, so the mod's own changelogs would be the place to look for new features or fixes.
